ਆਗਮ ਬਸੰਤ ਜਨੁ ਭਇਓ ਆਜ ॥
aagam basant jan bheio aaj |

(Looking at the beauty of the place, it appears like this) As if spring has arrived.

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਰਬ ਦੇਖੈ ਸਮਾਜ ॥
eih bhaat sarab dekhai samaaj |

It seemed that this was the first day of spring

ਰਾਜਾਧਿਰਾਜ ਬਨਿ ਬੈਠ ਐਸ ॥
raajaadhiraaj ban baitth aais |

Raja Maharaja was sitting like this

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਨਹੀ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਹੈਸ ॥੩੮॥
tin ke samaan nahee indr hais |38|

In this way, seeing the whole assembly, all the kings sat down there in their glory as if they excelled even Indra.38.

ਇਕ ਮਾਸ ਲਾਗ ਤਹ ਭਇਓ ਨਾਚ ॥
eik maas laag tah bheio naach |

Danced there for a month.

ਬਿਨ ਪੀਐ ਕੈਫ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਬਾਚ ॥
bin peeai kaif koaoo na baach |

In this, way, the dancing continued there for one month and no one could save himself from drinking the wine of that dance

ਜਹ ਜਹ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਆਭਾ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
jah jah bilok aabhaa apaar |

Wherever the immense beauty was seen,

ਤਹ ਤਹ ਸੁ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੩੯॥
tah tah su raaj raajan kumaar |39|

Here, there and everywhere the beauty of the kings and princes was seen.39.

ਲੈ ਸੰਗ ਤਾਸ ਸਾਰਸ੍ਵਤਿ ਆਪ ॥
lai sang taas saarasvat aap |

To whom Saraswati the whole world worships,

ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਜਪੰਤ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਜਾਪ ॥
jih ko japant sabh jagat jaap |

Sarasvati, the goddess worshipped by the world, said to the princess,

ਨਿਰਖੋ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਇਹ ਸਿੰਧ ਰਾਜ ॥
nirakho kumaar ih sindh raaj |

(O Raj Kumari!) See, this is the Kumar of the Sindh kingdom

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਨਹੀ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸਾਜ ॥੪੦॥
jaa kee samaan nahee indr saaj |40|

“O princess! Look at these princes, who even excel Indra.”40.

ਅਵਿਲੋਕ ਸਿੰਧ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥
avilok sindh raajaa kumaar |

Seeing Raj Kumar of Sindh (Raj Kumari)

ਨਹੀ ਤਾਸ ਚਿਤ ਕਿਨੋ ਸੁਮਾਰ ॥
nahee taas chit kino sumaar |

The princess looked towards the group of princes and did not even like the prince of Sindhu-kingdom

ਤਿਹ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਾਛ ਆਗੈ ਚਲੀਸੁ ॥
tih chhaadd paachh aagai chalees |

She left him behind and moved on

ਜਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੋਭ ਕਹੁ ਲੀਲ ਲੀਸੁ ॥੪੧॥
jan sarab sobh kahu leel lees |41|

Leaving him, absorbing all the glory within herself, she moved further.41.

ਪੁਨਿ ਕਹੈ ਤਾਸ ਸਾਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ ਬੈਨ ॥
pun kahai taas saarasvatee bain |

Then Saraswati spoke to him

ਇਹ ਪਸਚਮੇਸ ਅਬ ਦੇਖ ਨੈਨਿ ॥
eih pasachames ab dekh nain |

Sarasvati said to her again, “Here is a king of the West, you may see him

ਅਵਿਲੋਕਿ ਰੂਪ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
avilok roop taa ko apaar |

Seeing his immense form (Raj Kumari)

ਨਹੀ ਮਧਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਨਿਓ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੪੨॥
nahee madh chit aanio kumaar |42|

The princess saw his natural features, but she did not like him also.42.

ਮਧੁਭਾਰ ਛੰਦ ॥
madhubhaar chhand |

MADHUBHAAR STANZA

ਦੇਖੋ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥
dekho kumaar |

(See) Raj Kumar.

ਰਾਜਾ ਜੁਝਾਰ ॥
raajaa jujhaar |

This is very brave.

ਸੁਭ ਵਾਰ ਦੇਸ ॥
subh vaar des |

Shub is from the country.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਬੇਸ ॥੪੩॥
sundar subes |43|

“O princess! Look towards these elegantly dressed warrior-kings of the countery.”43.

ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
dekhio bichaar |

(Raj Kumari) saw thoughtfully.

ਰਾਜਾ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
raajaa apaar |

He was a great king.

ਆਨਾ ਨ ਚਿਤ ॥
aanaa na chit |

(But Raj Kumari) did not bring it to Chit.

ਪਰਮੰ ਪਵਿਤ ॥੪੪॥
paraman pavit |44|

The princess saw towards the natural features of many kings thoughtfully and that supremely immaculate damsel even did not like the king of the West.44.

ਤਬ ਆਗਿ ਚਾਲ ॥
tab aag chaal |

Then that beautiful Raj Kumari

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁ ਬਾਲ ॥
sundar su baal |

Moved forward.

ਮੁਸਕਿਆਤ ਐਸ ॥
musakiaat aais |

(She) is smiling like this,

ਘਨਿ ਬੀਜ ਜੈਸ ॥੪੫॥
ghan beej jais |45|

Then that girl moved forward and began to smile like the flash of lightning amongst the clouds.45.

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪੇਖਿ ਰੀਝ ॥
nrip pekh reejh |

The kings were rejoicing on seeing (him).

ਸੁਰ ਨਾਰ ਖੀਝ ॥
sur naar kheejh |

The kings were getting allured on seeing her and the heavenly damsels were getting angry

ਬਢਿ ਤਾਸ ਜਾਨ ॥
badt taas jaan |

(But) considering him superior

ਘਟ ਆਪ ਮਾਨ ॥੪੬॥
ghatt aap maan |46|

They were enraged because they found the princess more beautiful than themselves.46.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੂਪ ॥
sundar saroop |

handsome

ਸੌਂਦਰਜੁ ਭੂਪ ॥
sauandaraj bhoop |

And Soundarya Yukat is the king.

ਸੋਭਾ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
sobhaa apaar |

Which is extremely beautiful

ਸੋਭੈ ਸੁ ਧਾਰ ॥੪੭॥
sobhai su dhaar |47|

The kings of charming forms and apparently beauty-incarnate and of supreme glory were there.47.

ਦੇਖੋ ਨਰੇਾਂਦ੍ਰ ॥
dekho nareaandr |

(O King Kumari! Look at this) King.

ਡਾਢੇ ਮਹੇਾਂਦ੍ਰ ॥
ddaadte maheaandr |

This is a huge king stand.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਰਾਜ ॥
mulataan raaj |

This is the king of Multan

ਰਾਜਾਨ ਰਾਜ ॥੪੮॥
raajaan raaj |48|

The princess saw the kings standing there and also saw amongst them the sovereign of Mulatan.48.

ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang prayaat chhand |

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਚਲੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਰਾਜ ਐਸੇ ॥
chalee chhodd taa kau treea raaj aaise |

(She) Raj Kumari left him thus,

ਮਨੋ ਪਾਡੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਸਿਰੀ ਰਾਜ ਜੈਸੇ ॥
mano paadd putran siree raaj jaise |

Leaving all of them, the princess moved forward like the Pandavas, the sons of Pandu, moving away after leaving their kingdom etc.

ਖਰੀ ਮਧਿ ਰਾਜਿਸਥਲੀ ਐਸ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
kharee madh raajisathalee aais sohai |

In the assembly of the kings, the posture was like this,

ਮਨੋ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਮਾਲਾ ਮਹਾ ਮੋਨਿ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੪੯॥
mano jvaal maalaa mahaa mon mohai |49|

Standing in the royal court, she appeared like the fascinating fire-flame.49.

ਸੁਭੇ ਰਾਜਿਸਥਲੀ ਠਾਢਿ ਐਸੇ ॥
subhe raajisathalee tthaadt aaise |

In the assembly of the kings, the stalemate was showing itself like this,

ਮਨੋ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੈਸੇ ॥
mano chitrakaaree likhee chitr jaise |

Standing in the royal court she appeared like the portrait of painter

ਬਧੇ ਸ੍ਵਰਣ ਕੀ ਕਿੰਕਣੀ ਲਾਲ ਮਾਲੰ ॥
badhe svaran kee kinkanee laal maalan |

Red curls tied with gold garland

ਸਿਖਾ ਜਾਨ ਸੋਭੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੰ ਜਗਿ ਜ੍ਵਾਲੰ ॥੫੦॥
sikhaa jaan sobhe nripan jag jvaalan |50|

She was wearing a golden ornament (Kinkini) fitted with wreath of gems the pigtail of her hair was apparently like fire for the kings.50.

ਕਹੇ ਬੈਨ ਸਾਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
kahe bain saarasvatee pekh baalaa |

Saraswati spoke, O Raj Kumari!

ਲਖੋ ਨੈਨਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਸਭੈ ਭੂਪ ਆਲਾ ॥
lakho nain tthaadte sabhai bhoop aalaa |

Sarasvati, seeing the damsel said to her again, “O princess! See these superb kings

ਰੁਚੈ ਚਿਤ ਜਉਨੈ ਸੁਈ ਨਾਥ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
ruchai chit jaunai suee naath keejai |

(Among them) whoever pleases your mind, make him (your) master.

ਸੁਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਇਹੈ ਮਾਨਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੫੧॥
suno praan piaaree ihai maan leejai |51|

O my beloved! Obey my saying wed him, whom you consider worthy in your mind.51.

ਬਡੀ ਬਾਹਨੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
baddee baahanee sang jaa ke biraajai |

With which a very large army is occupying

ਘੁਰੈ ਸੰਗ ਭੇਰੀ ਮਹਾ ਨਾਦ ਬਾਜੈ ॥
ghurai sang bheree mahaa naad baajai |

“He, with whom there is a large army and the conches, battledrums and the war-horns are being played, see this great king

ਲਖੋ ਰੂਪ ਬੇਸੰ ਨਰੇਸੰ ਮਹਾਨੰ ॥
lakho roop besan naresan mahaanan |

Behold the form of (this) great and great king.

ਦਿਨੰ ਰੈਣ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਭੁਜਾਨੰ ॥੫੨॥
dinan rain jaapai sahansr bhujaanan |52|

Whose thousand arms make the day appear as night.52.

ਧੁਜਾ ਮਧਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਡੋ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਜੈ ॥
dhujaa madh jaa ke baddo singh raajai |

On whose flag the symbol of a big lion is sitting.

ਸੁਨੇ ਨਾਦ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਮਹਾ ਪਾਪ ਭਾਜੈ ॥
sune naad taa ko mahaa paap bhaajai |

“In whose banner, there is seated a huge lion and hearing whose voice, the great sins are eliminated

ਲਖੋ ਪੂਰਬੀਸੰ ਛਿਤੀਸੰ ਮਹਾਨੰ ॥
lakho poorabeesan chhiteesan mahaanan |

Know (this) the great king of the east.

ਸੁਨੋ ਬੈਨ ਬਾਲਾ ਸੁਰੂਪੰ ਸੁ ਭਾਨੰ ॥੫੩॥
suno bain baalaa suroopan su bhaanan |53|

O princess! See that sun-faced great king of the East.53.

ਘੁਰੈ ਦੁੰਦਭੀ ਸੰਖ ਭੇਰੀ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
ghurai dundabhee sankh bheree apaaran |

Apar Bheriyas, Sankhs and Nagares resound.

ਬਜੈ ਦਛਨੀ ਸਰਬ ਬਾਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਰੰ ॥
bajai dachhanee sarab baajantr saaran |

“Here the kettledrums, conches and drums are being played

ਤੁਰੀ ਕਾਨਰੇ ਤੂਰ ਤਾਨੰ ਤਰੰਗੰ ॥
turee kaanare toor taanan tarangan |

Turi, Kanra, Tur, Tarang,

ਮੁਚੰ ਝਾਝਰੰ ਨਾਇ ਨਾਦੰ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗੰ ॥੫੪॥
muchan jhaajharan naae naadan mridangan |54|

The tones and tunes of many other instruments are being heard also the drums, anklets etc. are being played.54.

ਬਧੇ ਹੀਰ ਚੀਰੰ ਸੁ ਬੀਰੰ ਸੁਬਾਹੰ ॥
badhe heer cheeran su beeran subaahan |

He who wears diamonds on his armour, is a mighty warrior.

ਬਡੋ ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਸੋ ਸੋਭਿਓ ਸਿਪਾਹੰ ॥
baddo chhatradhaaree so sobhio sipaahan |

The warriors are wearing beautiful garments
