ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਗਡ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਛੂਟਨ ਨੈਕੁ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
taahee ke beech rahiyo gadd kai tih te nahee chhoottan naik gayo hai |O friends! with whom, we have been absorbed in love on the bank of Yamuna, he is now firmly established in our mind and does not go out of it
ਤਾ ਚਲਬੇ ਕੀ ਸੁਨੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਸੋਕ ਛਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
taa chalabe kee sunee bateeyaa at hee man bheetar sok chhayo hai |Listening the talk about his departure, extreme sorrow permeates our mind
ਸੋ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਸਜਨੀ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕਉ ਮਥਰਾ ਕੋ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੭੯੯॥
so suneeyai sajanee ham kau taj kai brij kau matharaa ko gayo hai |799|O friend! listen, the same Krishna, is now leaving us and going towards Mathura.799.
ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਿਤ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗ ਖੇਲਤ ਜਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕਾਮਨਿ ॥
at hee hit siau sang khelat jaa kab sayaam kahai at sundar kaaman |The poet says that with whom all the beautiful women played in extreme love
ਰਾਸ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਰ ਯੌ ਲਸਕੈ ਰੁਤਿ ਸਾਵਨ ਕੀ ਚਮਕੈ ਜਿਮ ਦਾਮਨਿ ॥
raas kee bheetar yau lasakai rut saavan kee chamakai jim daaman |He glistened in the arena of amorous play like the flash of lightning in the clouds of Sawan
ਚੰਦ ਮੁਖੀ ਤਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਸੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਕੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜੁ ਚਲੈ ਗਜਿ ਗਾਮਨਿ ॥
chand mukhee tan kanchan se drig kanj prabhaa ju chalai gaj gaaman |
ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਤਿਨੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕੋ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਸੁਨੋ ਸਜਨੀ ਅਬ ਧਾਮਨਿ ॥੮੦੦॥
tayaag tinai mathuraa ko chaliyo jaduraae suno sajanee ab dhaaman |800|Leaving the women with faces like moon, bodies like gold and gait like the elephants, O friends! now see, that Krishna is going to Mathura.800.
ਕੰਜ ਮੁਖੀ ਤਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਸੇ ਬਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਹਿਤ ਲਾਈ ॥
kanj mukhee tan kanchan se biralaap karai har so hit laaee |The gopis with the bodies like gold and the faces like the lotus, are lamenting in the love of Krishna
ਸੋਕ ਭਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਬੀਚ ਅਸੋਕ ਗਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਨਸਾਈ ॥
sok bhayo tin ke man beech asok gayo tin hoon te nasaaee |Their mind is absorbed in sorrow and their comfort has sped away
ਭਾਖਤ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨੋ ਸਜਨੀ ਹਮ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ਕਨ੍ਰਹਾਈ ॥
bhaakhat hai ih bhaat suno sajanee ham tayaag gayo hai kanrahaaee |All of them are saying, “O friend! look, Krishna has gone leaving all of us behind
ਆਪ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੮੦੧॥
aap ge mathuraa pur mai jaduraae na jaanat peer paraaee |801|The king of Yadavas himself has gone to Mathura and is not feeling our pain i.e. another’s pain.801.
ਅੰਗ ਬਿਖੈ ਸਜ ਕੈ ਭਗਵੇ ਪਟ ਹਾਥਨ ਮੈ ਚਿਪੀਆ ਹਮ ਲੈ ਹੈਂ ॥
ang bikhai saj kai bhagave patt haathan mai chipeea ham lai hain |We shall wear ochre-coloured garments and carry the begging bowl in our hands
ਸੀਸ ਧਰੈ ਗੀ ਜਟਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਭਿਛ ਕਉ ਮਾਗ ਅਘੈ ਹੈਂ ॥
sees dharai gee jattaa apune har moorat bhichh kau maag aghai hain |We shall have matted locks on our heads and feel pleasure in begging for Krishna
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਚਲੈ ਜਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਹਮਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਚਲਿ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥
sayaam chalai jih tthaur bikhai hamahoon tih tthaur bikhai chal jai hai |Whatever Kreishna has gone, we shall go there
ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਧਾਮਿਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਜੋਗਿਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥੮੦੨॥
tayaag kariyo ham dhaamin ko sabh hee mil kai ham jogin hvai hai |802|We have said that we shall become yogins and leave our homes.802.
ਬੋਲਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਆਪਸਿ ਮੈ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਸਜਨੀ ਹਮ ਕਾਮ ਕਰੈਂਗੀ ॥
bolat gvaaran aapas mai suneeyai sajanee ham kaam karaingee |
ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਧਾਮਨ ਕਉ ਚਿਪੀਆ ਗਹਿ ਸੀਸ ਜਟਾਨ ਧਰੈਂਗੀ ॥
tayaag kahiyo ham dhaaman kau chipeea geh sees jattaan dharaingee |The gopis are saying among themselves, “O friend! we shall do this work that we shall leave our homes, and have matted hair on our heads and begging bowls in our hands
ਕੈ ਬਿਖ ਖਾਇ ਮਰੈਗੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਬੂਡ ਮਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਜਰੈਂਗੀ ॥
kai bikh khaae maraigee kahiyo neh boodd marai nahee jaae jaraingee |We shall eat poison and die, we shall be drowned or burn ourselves to death
ਮਾਨ ਬਯੋਗ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਤੇ ਪੈ ਨ ਟਰੇਗੀ ॥੮੦੩॥
maan bayog kahai sabh gvaaran kaanrah ke saath te pai na ttaregee |803|Considering their separation, all of them said that they would never leave the company of Krishan.803.
ਜਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਬਨ ਬੀਚ ਦਏ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸੁਖ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
jin hoon hamare sang kel kare ban beech de ham kau sukh bhaare |He, who was absorbed in passionate love with us and who gave us great pleasure in the forest
ਜਾ ਹਮਰੇ ਹਿਤ ਹਾਸ ਸਹਯੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੈਤ ਪਛਾਰੇ ॥
jaa hamare hit haas sahayai hamare hit kai jin dait pachhaare |He, who endured ridicules for us and knocked down the demons
ਰਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
raas bikhai jin gvaaran ke man ke sabh sok bidaa kar ddaare |
ਸੋ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਅਬੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕੋ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੮੦੪॥
so suneeyai hamare hit ko taj kai su abai mathuraa ko padhaare |804|He, who removed all the sorrows of the gopis in the arena of amorous play, the same Krishna has now, forsaking our love, gone away to Mathura.804.
ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਿਕਕਾ ਪਹਰੈ ਹਮ ਕਾਨਨ ਅੰਗ ਬਿਖੈ ਭਗਵੇ ਪਟ ਕੈ ਹੈਂ ॥
mundrikakaa paharai ham kaanan ang bikhai bhagave patt kai hain |
ਹਾਥਨ ਮੈ ਚਿਪੀਆ ਧਰਿ ਕੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਤਨ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਲਗੈ ਹੈਂ ॥
haathan mai chipeea dhar kai apane tan beech bibhoot lagai hain |We shall wear rings in our ears and put on the ochre-coloured garments. We shall carry mendicants’s pot in our hands and rub ashes on our body
ਪੈ ਕਸਿ ਕੈ ਸਿੰਙੀਆ ਕਟਿ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੋਰਖ ਨਾਥ ਜਗੈ ਹੈਂ ॥
pai kas kai singeea katt mai har ko sang gorakh naath jagai hain |We shall hang the staghorn’s trumpet by our waists and shall shout the name of Gorakhnath for alms
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨੀਆ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹੈਂ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਧਾਮਨ ਜੋਗਿਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈਂ ॥੮੦੫॥
gvaaraneea ih bhaat kahain taj kai ham dhaaman jogin hvai hain |805|The gopis said that in this way, they would become yogins.805.
ਕੈ ਬਿਖ ਖਾਇ ਮਰੈਂਗੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਨਹਿ ਘਾਤ ਕਰੈ ਹੈ ॥
kai bikh khaae maraingee kahiyo apune tan ko neh ghaat karai hai |Either we shall eat poison or shall commit suicide by some other method
ਮਾਰਿ ਛੁਰੀ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਊਪਰ ਪਾਪ ਚੜੈ ਹੈ ॥
maar chhuree apune tan mai har ke ham aoopar paap charrai hai |We shall die with the blows of a knife on our body and level charge of our sin on Krishna,
ਨਾਤੁਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਜਾ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਇਹ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਕਰੈ ਹੈ ॥
naatur braham ke jaa pur mai birathaa ih kee su pukaar karai hai |Otherwise, we shall evoke Brahma so that no injustice be done to us
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨੀਯਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹੈਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥੮੦੬॥
gvaaraneeyaa ih bhaat kahain brij te har ko ham jaan na dai hai |806|The gopis said this that they would not allow Krishna to go by any means.806.
ਸੇਲੀ ਡਰੈਂਗੀ ਗਰੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਬਟੂਆ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਟਿ ਸਾਥ ਕਸੈ ਹੈ ॥
selee ddaraingee garai apune battooaa apune katt saath kasai hai |We shall wear the rosary of black wood around our necks and hand a purse by our waist
ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਬੀਚ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਕਿਧੌ ਫਰੂਆ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਰੂਪ ਜਗੈ ਹੈ ॥
lai kar beech trisool kidhau farooaa tih saamuhe roop jagai hai |We shall carry a trident in our hand and keep awake by sitting in a posture in the sunshine
ਘੋਟ ਕੈ ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਕੀ ਭਾਗ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੁ ਵਾਹੀ ਚੜੈ ਹੈ ॥
ghott kai taahee ke dhayaan kee bhaag kahai kab sayaam su vaahee charrai hai |We shall drink the hemp of the meditation of Krishna and become intoxicated
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨੀਯਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਰਹੈ ਹਮ ਧਾਮਨ ਜੋਗਿਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥੮੦੭॥
gvaaraneeyaa ih bhaat kahai na rahai ham dhaaman jogin hvai hai |807|In this way, the gopis said that they would not live in there homes and will become yogins.807.
ਧੂਮ ਡਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਅਉਰ ਕਛੂ ਨਹਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੈ ਹੈ ॥
dhoom ddarai tih ke grih saamuhe aaur kachhoo neh kaaraj kai hai |We shall light a fire in front of the house of Krishna and shall not do anything else
ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਧਰੈਂਗੀ ਕਿਧੌ ਤਿਹ ਕੌ ਤਿਹ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਕੀ ਭਾਗਹਿ ਸੋ ਮਤਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
dhayaan dharaingee kidhau tih kau tih dhayaan kee bhaageh so mat hvai hai |We shall meditate on him and shall remain intoxicated with the hemp of his meditation
ਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਪਾਇਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਿਧੌ ਸੁ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਕੀ ਠਉਰ ਚੜੈ ਹੈ ॥
lai tih kai fun paaein dhoor kidhau su bibhoot kee tthaur charrai hai |We shall rub the dust of his feet on our body like ashes
ਕੈ ਹਿਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਐਸੋ ਕਹੈਂ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕਉ ਹਮ ਜੋਗਿਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥੮੦੮॥
kai hit gvaaran aaiso kahain taj kai grih kau ham jogin hvai hai |808|The gopis are saying that for the sake of that Krishna they would leave their homes and become yogins.808.
ਕੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਮਾਲ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਵਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਹੈ ॥
kai apune man kee fun maal kahai kab vaahee ko naam japai hai |Making a rosary of our mind, we shall repeat his name
ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੀ ਪੈ ਤਪਸਾ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਰਿਝੈ ਹੈ ॥
kai ih bhaat kee pai tapasaa hit so tih te jaduraae rijhai hai |In this way we shall perform austerity and thus please Krishn,a the king of Yadavas
ਮਾਗ ਸਭੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਬਰੁ ਪਾਇਨ ਪੈ ਤਹਿ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਲਯੈ ਹੈ ॥
maag sabhai tih te mil kai bar paaein pai teh te ham layai hai |After getting his boon, we shall beg of him to give himself to us
ਯਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਕਹੈ ਗੁਪੀਯਾ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਧਾਮਨ ਜੋਗਿਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥੮੦੯॥
yaa te bichaar kahai gupeeyaa taj kai ham dhaaman jogin hvai hai |809|Thinking in this way, the gopis are saying that they would leave their homes and become yogins.809.
ਠਾਢੀ ਹੈ ਹੋਇ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਜਿਮ ਘੰਟਕ ਹੇਰ ਬਜੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਾਇਲ ॥
tthaadtee hai hoe ikatr treeyaa jim ghanttak her bajai mrigaaeil |Those women gathered together and stood like the herd of deer listening to the sound of horn
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਚਿਤ ਹਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਅਤਿ ਮਾਇਲ ॥
sayaam kahai kab chit harai har ko har aoopar hvai at maaeil |This spectacle of the group of gopis removed all the anxieties, all these gopis are fascinated by Krishna
ਧ੍ਰਯਾਨ ਲਗੈ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੂੰਦ ਰਹੈ ਉਘਰੈ ਨਿਕਟੈ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨਿ ਉਤਾਇਲ ॥
dhrayaan lagai drig moond rahai ugharai nikattai tih jaan utaaeil |Though they have closed their eyes, yet feeling the presence of Krishna nearby, in illusion, they sometimes open their eyes very quickly
ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਜਿਮ ਮੀਚਤ ਆਂਖ ਉਘਾਰਤ ਘਾਇਲ ॥੮੧੦॥
yau upajee upamaa man mai jim meechat aankh ughaarat ghaaeil |810|They are doing this like a wounded person, who sometimes closes his eyes and sometimes open them.810.
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਜੋ ਸਮ ਥੀ ਜੁ ਹੁਤੀ ਸਮ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਚੰਦ ਕਰਾ ਸੀ ॥
kanchan ke tan jo sam thee ju hutee sam gvaaran chand karaa see |
