ਜੋਬਨ ਖਾ ਤਹ ਬੀਰ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
joban khaa tah beer bulaae |Joban Khan called his warriors
ਬੈਠਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਪਕਾਏ ॥
baitth baitth kar mantr pakaae |And sat and consulted
ਕਵਨ ਉਪਾਇ ਆਜੁ ਹ੍ਯਾਂ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
kavan upaae aaj hayaan keejai |What trick should we do here today?
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਰਗ ਤੋਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੫॥
jaa te durag tor kar deejai |5|With which the fort can be broken. 5.
ਬਲਵੰਡ ਖਾਨ ਸੈਨ ਸੰਗ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
balavandd khaan sain sang liyo |Balwand Khan took the army with him
ਤਵਨ ਦੁਰਗ ਪਰ ਹਲਾ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
tavan durag par halaa kiyo |And attacked that fort.
ਗੜ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਤੀਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਈ ॥
garr ke log teer te jaaee |People went near the fort
ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੂਕਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੬॥
maar maar kar kook sunaaee |6|Mar lau' shouted 'Mar lau'. 6.
ਗੋਲੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਦੁਰਗ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੀ ॥
golee adhik durag te chhoottee |Many bullets were fired from the fort
ਬਹੁਤ ਸੂਰਮਨਿ ਮੂੰਡੀ ਫੂਟੀ ॥
bahut sooraman moonddee foottee |And the heads of many warriors were torn off.
ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਗਏ ਬੀਰ ਰਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
gir gir ge beer ran maahee |Heroes fell in the war
ਤਨ ਮੈ ਰਹੀ ਨੈਕ ਸੁਧਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੭॥
tan mai rahee naik sudh naahee |7|And there was not even the slightest appearance in the bodies. 7.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Verse:
ਕਹੂੰ ਬਾਜ ਜੂਝੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
kahoon baaj joojhe kahoon raaj maare |Somewhere the horses are fighting and somewhere the kings have been killed.
ਕਹੂੰ ਤਾਜ ਬਾਜੀਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਜ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
kahoon taaj baajeen ke saaj ddaare |Somewhere crowns and horse harnesses have fallen.
ਕਿਤੇ ਛੋਰ ਛੇਕੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਛੈਲ ਮੋਰੇ ॥
kite chhor chheke kite chhail more |Somewhere (the warriors) have been pierced, and some young men have been twisted.
ਕਿਤੇ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੀਨ ਕੇ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਤੋਰੇ ॥੮॥
kite chhatr dhaareen ke chhatr tore |8|Somewhere umbrellas of umbrellas are broken.8.
ਲਗੇ ਜ੍ਵਾਨ ਗੋਲੀਨ ਕੇ ਖੇਤ ਜੂਝੇ ॥
lage jvaan goleen ke khet joojhe |How many young men have been killed in the battlefield due to bullets.
ਚਲੇ ਭਾਜਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਬੂਝੇ ॥
chale bhaaj kete nahee jaat boojhe |How many have fled, (they) cannot be counted.
ਭਰੇ ਲਾਜ ਕੇਤੇ ਹਠੀ ਕੋਪਿ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
bhare laaj kete hatthee kop dtooke |How many of the lodges are full of stubborn anger.
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੂਕੇ ॥੯॥
chahoon or te maar hee maar kooke |9|They are shouting 'Maro Maro' on all four sides. 9.
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਗਾੜੇ ਗੜੈ ਘੇਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
chahoon or gaarre garrai gher aae |The fort has been strongly surrounded from all four sides.
ਹਠੀ ਖਾਨ ਕੋਪੇ ਲੀਏ ਸੈਨ ਘਾਏ ॥
hatthee khaan kope lee sain ghaae |Hatile Khan has broken down with his army full of anger.
ਇਤੇ ਸੂਰ ਸੋਹੈ ਉਤੈ ਵੈ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
eite soor sohai utai vai biraajai |Here the heroes adorn themselves and there they sit
ਮੰਡੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਪੈਗ ਭਾਜੇ ॥੧੦॥
mandde krodh kai kai nahee paig bhaaje |10|And filled with anger, they do not run even a single step. 10.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਛੋਰਿ ਖੇਤ ਪਗ ਨ ਟਰੇ ਭਿਰੇ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਚਾਇ ॥
chhor khet pag na ttare bhire sooramaa chaae |The warrior (apart from the battlefield) was not taking a single step and was fighting with full force.
ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਨ ਗਾਡੇ ਗੜਹਿ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਿਯੋ ਭਟ ਆਇ ॥੧੧॥
daso disan gaadde garreh gher liyo bhatt aae |11|The warriors came from ten directions and surrounded the fort. 11.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Verse:
ਕਿਤੇ ਗੋਲਿ ਗੋਲਾ ਮਹਾ ਬਾਨ ਛੋਰੇ ॥
kite gol golaa mahaa baan chhore |Somewhere the shooters were shooting bullets and the shooters were shooting arrows.
ਕਿਤੇ ਗਰਬ ਧਾਰੀਨ ਕੇ ਗਰਬ ਤੋਰੇ ॥
kite garab dhaareen ke garab tore |Somewhere the grubs of the proud were being broken.
ਪਰੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਹਾ ਲੌ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥
paree maar bhaaree kahaa lau bakhaano |I was very hurt, as far as I can describe.
ਉਡੀ ਜਾਨ ਮਾਖੀਰੁ ਕੀ ਮਾਖਿ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੧੨॥
auddee jaan maakheer kee maakh maano |12|(It seemed like) as if honey bees had flown. 12.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਜ੍ਰ ਬਾਨ ਬਿਛੂਅਨ ਭਏ ਬੀਰ ਲਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੰਡ ॥
bajr baan bichhooan bhe beer lare ran mandd |Warriors used to fight on the battlefield with Bajra arrows and scorpions.
ਲਗੀ ਤੁਪਕ ਕੀ ਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਜੂਝੇ ਖਾ ਬਲਵੰਡ ॥੧੩॥
lagee tupak kee ur bikhai joojhe khaa balavandd |13|Balwand Khan died due to a gun shot in the chest. 13.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਬਲਵੰਡ ਖਾ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਰਨ ਜੂਝੇ ॥
balavandd khaa jab hee ran joojhe |Balwand Khan was killed in the battlefield
ਔ ਭਟ ਮੁਏ ਜਾਤ ਨਹਿ ਬੂਝੇ ॥
aau bhatt mue jaat neh boojhe |And even more unknown, how many warriors were killed.
ਭਜੇ ਸੁਭਟ ਆਵਤ ਭਏ ਤਹਾ ॥
bhaje subhatt aavat bhe tahaa |The warriors came running there
ਜੋਬਨ ਖਾਨ ਖੇਤ ਮੈ ਜਹਾ ॥੧੪॥
joban khaan khet mai jahaa |14|Where Joban Khan was fighting. 14.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਲਵੰਡ ਖਾ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੁਏ ਸੰਕਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਭ ਸੂਰ ॥
balavandd khaa ko sun mue sank rahe sabh soor |Hearing about the death of Balwand Khan, all the warriors became suspicious.
ਬਿਨ ਸ੍ਰਯਾਰੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਖਾਏ ਜਨਕ ਕਪੂਰ ॥੧੫॥
bin srayaare seetal bhe khaae janak kapoor |15|They became cold without a fever as if (they) had eaten camphor. 15.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਚਪਲ ਕਲਾ ਜੋਬਨ ਖਾ ਜਬੈ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
chapal kalaa joban khaa jabai nihaariyo |When Chapal Kala saw Joban Khan
ਗਿਰੀ ਧਰਨਿ ਮੁਰਛਾਇ ਕਾਮ ਸਰ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
giree dharan murachhaae kaam sar maariyo |So after eating the arrow of lust, she fainted on the ground and fell down.
ਪਤ੍ਰੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਬਨਾਇ ਬਿਸਿਖ ਸੌ ਬਾਧਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
