ਝੁਮੇ ਭੂਮ ਘੁਮੀ ਹੂਰ ॥
jhume bhoom ghumee hoor |

The warriors saturated with blood, are falling down on the earth and the heavenly damsels are roaming

ਬਜੇ ਸੰਖ ਸਦੰ ਗਦ ॥
baje sankh sadan gad |

Sankh sounds and from which the word 'prose' (comes)

ਤਾਲੰ ਸੰਖ ਭੇਰੀ ਨਦ ॥੫੫੨॥
taalan sankh bheree nad |552|

The sky is filled with the sounds of conches, other tunes and drums.552.

ਤੁਟੇ ਤ੍ਰਣ ਫੁਟੇ ਅੰਗ ॥
tutte tran futte ang |

The armor is breaking and (the limbs of the warriors) are splitting,

ਜੁਝੇ ਵੀਰ ਰੁਝੇ ਜੰਗ ॥
jujhe veer rujhe jang |

The armours of the warriors have been torn and they are fighting in the war

ਮਚੇ ਸੂਰ ਨਚੀ ਹੂਰ ॥
mache soor nachee hoor |

The warriors are in the battle cry and the hurrahs are dancing.

ਮਤੀ ਧੁਮ ਭੂਮੀ ਪੂਰ ॥੫੫੩॥
matee dhum bhoomee poor |553|

The brave fighters are confronting one another and the heavenly damsels are dancing there is talk of war on the earth.553.

ਉਠੇ ਅਧ ਬਧ ਕਮਧ ॥
autthe adh badh kamadh |

Half-severed torsos stand up (with) mesh armor,

ਪਖਰ ਰਾਗ ਖੋਲ ਸਨਧ ॥
pakhar raag khol sanadh |

The headless trunks arose in the war and were opening their gauzy armour

ਛਕੇ ਛੋਭ ਛੁਟੇ ਕੇਸ ॥
chhake chhobh chhutte kes |

They are full of wrath and (their) cases are open.

ਸੰਘਰ ਸੂਰ ਸਿੰਘਨ ਭੇਸ ॥੫੫੪॥
sanghar soor singhan bhes |554|

With garbs like lions the warriors are highly infuriated and their hair have loosened.554.

ਟੁਟਰ ਟੀਕ ਟੁਟੇ ਟੋਪ ॥
ttuttar tteek ttutte ttop |

The (steel) helmet and the (iron forehead) studs are broken.

ਭਗੇ ਭੂਪ ਭੰਨੀ ਧੋਪ ॥
bhage bhoop bhanee dhop |

The helmets have broken and the kings have fled away

ਘੁਮੇ ਘਾਇ ਝੂਮੀ ਭੂਮ ॥
ghume ghaae jhoomee bhoom |

Fattars are falling on the earth after eating ghumeri.

ਅਉਝੜ ਝਾੜ ਧੂਮੰ ਧੂਮ ॥੫੫੫॥
aaujharr jhaarr dhooman dhoom |555|

The warriors, having been wounded, are falling on the earth after swinging and with a bang they are falling.555.

ਬਜੇ ਨਾਦ ਬਾਦ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
baje naad baad apaar |

Unaccountable ran-singhes and bells ring.

ਸਜੇ ਸੂਰ ਵੀਰ ਜੁਝਾਰ ॥
saje soor veer jujhaar |

The large trumpets have resounded and the bedecked warriors are being seen

ਜੁਝੇ ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਖੇਤ ॥
jujhe ttook ttook hvai khet |

And fighting in pieces on the field,

ਮਤੇ ਮਦ ਜਾਣ ਅਚੇਤ ॥੫੫੬॥
mate mad jaan achet |556|

They are dying in the war being chopped in bits and being intoxicated in war-frenzy, they are becoming unconscious.556.

ਛੁਟੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
chhutte sasatr asatr anant |

Unlimited weapons and armor are running.

ਰੰਗੇ ਰੰਗ ਭੂਮ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥
range rang bhoom durant |

Innumerable weapons and arms are being used and the earth is coloured with blood upto a great distance

ਖੁਲੇ ਅੰਧ ਧੁੰਧ ਹਥਿਆਰ ॥
khule andh dhundh hathiaar |

Weapons half-smoked (starting to glow)

ਬਕੇ ਸੂਰ ਵੀਰ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਾਰ ॥੫੫੭॥
bake soor veer bikraar |557|

The weapons are being struck indiscreetly and the terrible warriors are shouting.557.

ਬਿਥੁਰੀ ਲੁਥ ਜੁਥ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
bithuree luth juth anek |

Many herds of loths are scattered,

ਮਚੇ ਕੋਟਿ ਭਗੇ ਏਕ ॥
mache kott bhage ek |

The clusters of corpses are lying scattered the warriors are engrossed in a horrible war on one side and on the other, some of them are running away.

ਹਸੇ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਮਸਾਣ ॥
hase bhoot pret masaan |

Ghosts, ghosts and ghosts are laughing.

ਲੁਝੇ ਜੁਝ ਰੁਝ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣ ॥੫੫੮॥
lujhe jujh rujh kripaan |558|

The ghosts and friends are laughing in the cemeteries and here the brave fighters are fighting after receiving blows of swords.558.

ਬਹੜਾ ਛੰਦ ॥
baharraa chhand |

BAHRAA STANZA

ਅਧਿਕ ਰੋਸ ਕਰ ਰਾਜ ਪਖਰੀਆ ਧਾਵਹੀ ॥
adhik ros kar raaj pakhareea dhaavahee |

Enraged, the horse-mounted generals advance,

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਕ ਪੁਕਾਰਤ ਆਵਹੀ ॥
raam raam bin sank pukaarat aavahee |

The demon warriors wearing armours, march forward in great fury, but on reaching within the forces of Ram, they become like followers of Ram and begin to shout the name of Ram

ਰੁਝ ਜੁਝ ਝੜ ਪੜਤ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਭੂਮ ਪਰ ॥
rujh jujh jharr parrat bhayaanak bhoom par |

After engaging in a terrible war, they finally fall to earth

ਰਾਮਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਹਾਥ ਗਏ ਭਵਸਿੰਧ ਤਰ ॥੫੫੯॥
raamachandr ke haath ge bhavasindh tar |559|

While fighting they fall down on the earth in a dreadful posture and ferring across the world-ocean at the hands of Ram.559.

ਸਿਮਟ ਸਾਗ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਸਮੁਹ ਹੁਐ ਜੂਝਹੀ ॥
simatt saag sangrahai samuh huaai joojhahee |

Warriors gather together, grab spears and fight face to face.

ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਹੁਐ ਗਿਰਤ ਨ ਘਰ ਕਹ ਬੂਝਹੀ ॥
ttook ttook huaai girat na ghar kah boojhahee |

After revolving and holding the lance the warriors come forward and fight and fall down on being chopped into bits

ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਹੁਐ ਗਿਰਤ ਖੰਡ ਧਨ ਖੰਡ ਰਨ ॥
khandd khandd huaai girat khandd dhan khandd ran |

(Whose) body is not even the edge of swords in the field

ਤਨਕ ਤਨਕ ਲਗ ਜਾਹਿ ਅਸਨ ਕੀ ਧਾਰ ਤਨ ॥੫੬੦॥
tanak tanak lag jaeh asan kee dhaar tan |560|

On receiving only the small blows of the edge of swords the brave fighters fall down in numerous part.560.

ਸੰਗੀਤ ਬਹੜਾ ਛੰਦ ॥
sangeet baharraa chhand |

SANGEET BAHRA STANZA

ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸਾਗ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਤਾਗੜਦੀ ਰਣ ਤੁਰੀ ਨਚਾਵਹਿ ॥
saagarradee saag sangrahai taagarradee ran turee nachaaveh |

Holding spears (in hand), the mares dance on the field.

ਝਾਗੜਦੀ ਝੂਮ ਗਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸੁਰਪੁਰਹਿ ਸਿਧਾਵਹਿ ॥
jhaagarradee jhoom gir bhoom saagarradee surapureh sidhaaveh |

Holding the lances the warriors are causing them to dance in the war and after swinging and falling on the earth, they are leaving for the abode of gods

ਆਗੜਦੀ ਅੰਗ ਹੁਐ ਭੰਗ ਆਗੜਦੀ ਆਹਵ ਮਹਿ ਡਿਗਹੀ ॥
aagarradee ang huaai bhang aagarradee aahav meh ddigahee |

(Whose) limbs are broken, (they) fall in the wilderness.

ਹੋ ਬਾਗੜਦੀ ਵੀਰ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਾਰ ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੋਣਤ ਤਨ ਭਿਗਹੀ ॥੫੬੧॥
ho baagarradee veer bikraar saagarradee sronat tan bhigahee |561|

The brave fighters are falling with chopped limbs in the battlefield and their dreadful bodies are saturated with blood.561.

ਰਾਗੜਦੀ ਰੋਸ ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਲਾਗੜਦੀ ਲਛਮਣ ਪੈ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
raagarradee ros rip raaj laagarradee lachhaman pai dhaayo |

Ravana (Ripu-Raj) is furious and moves towards Lakshmana.

ਕਾਗੜਦੀ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤਨ ਕੁੜਯੋ ਪਾਗੜਦੀ ਹੁਐ ਪਵਨ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
kaagarradee krodh tan kurrayo paagarradee huaai pavan sidhaayo |

The enemy-king Ravana fell in great fury on lakshman and went towards him with wind speed and great ire

ਆਗੜਦੀ ਅਨੁਜ ਉਰ ਤਾਤ ਘਾਗੜਦੀ ਗਹਿ ਘਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਯੋ ॥
aagarradee anuj ur taat ghaagarradee geh ghaae prahaarayo |

(Ravana) has (quickly) taken hold of a spear and stabbed Rama's (Rama's) younger brother (Lakshmana) in the chest.

ਝਾਗੜਦੀ ਝੂਮਿ ਭੂਅ ਗਿਰਯੋ ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸੁਤ ਬੈਰ ਉਤਾਰਯੋ ॥੫੬੨॥
jhaagarradee jhoom bhooa girayo saagarradee sut bair utaarayo |562|

He inflicted a wound on the heart of Lakshman and in this way wreaking vengeance on him for the killing of his son, he cused the fall of Lakshman.562.

ਚਾਗੜਦੀ ਚਿੰਕ ਚਾਵਡੀ ਡਾਗੜਦੀ ਡਾਕਣ ਡਕਾਰੀ ॥
chaagarradee chink chaavaddee ddaagarradee ddaakan ddakaaree |

The vultures shriked and the vampires belched

ਭਾਗੜਦੀ ਭੂਤ ਭਰ ਹਰੇ ਰਾਗੜਦੀ ਰਣ ਰੋਸ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਰੀ ॥
bhaagarradee bhoot bhar hare raagarradee ran ros prajaaree |

Burning in this fire of fury in the battlefield the ghosts and others were filled with joy

ਮਾਗੜਦੀ ਮੂਰਛਾ ਭਯੋ ਲਾਗੜਦੀ ਲਛਮਣ ਰਣ ਜੁਝਯੋ ॥
maagarradee moorachhaa bhayo laagarradee lachhaman ran jujhayo |

Lakshman while fighting in the field became unconscious and Ram,
