ਤੁਰਤੁ ਏਕ ਤਹ ਸਖੀ ਪਠਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
turat ek tah sakhee patthaaee |17|soon reached the place (of Sahiban.(17)

ਸੁਨੋ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਸਿ ਭਈ ਹ੍ਯਾਂ ਨ ਪਹੂਚਹੁ ਆਇ ॥
suno mitr bin nis bhee hayaan na pahoochahu aae |‘Listen my friend; don’t come here before the night falls.
ਜਿਨ ਕੋਊ ਸੋਧਿ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੮॥
jin koaoo sodh pachhaan kai tin prat kahai na jaae |18|‘Some body may recognise you and may go to tell my parents.(18)

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਸਖੀ ਤਿਹ ਆਨਿ ਜਤਾਯੋ ॥
bahur sakhee tih aan jataayo |Then Sakhi came and explained to him.
ਬੈਠਿ ਬਾਗ ਮੈ ਦਿਵਸ ਬਿਤਾਯੋ ॥
baitth baag mai divas bitaayo |The friend came, made him to understand and then by sitting in the garden, he spent the day.
ਸੂਰਜ ਛਪਿਯੋ ਰੈਨਿ ਜਬ ਭਈ ॥
sooraj chhapiyo rain jab bhee |When the sun went down and it was night
ਬਾਟ ਗਾਵ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕੀ ਲਈ ॥੧੯॥
baatt gaav taa ke kee lee |19|When the Sun was set, it became dark, he took to his way to her village.(19)
ਰੈਨਿ ਭਈ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਤਬ ਗਯੋ ॥
rain bhee taa ke tab gayo |At night, he went to the masters
ਡਾਰਤ ਬਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤਿਹ ਭਯੋ ॥
ddaarat baaj prisatt tih bhayo |When it was total dark, he went to her and took her on the back of his horse.
ਹਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦੇਸੌਰ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
har taa ko desauar sidhaariyo |After defeating him, he went to his country.
ਜੋ ਪਹੁਚਿਯੋ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਰ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੦॥
jo pahuchiyo taa ko sar maariyo |20|After taking her away he started to go to another country and who so ever followed he killed him with the arrows.(20)
ਰੈਨਿ ਸਕਲ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਗਯੋ ॥
rain sakal taa ko lai gayo |(He) took him (on horseback) all night.
ਉਤਰਤ ਚੜੇ ਦਿਵਸ ਕੇ ਭਯੋ ॥
autarat charre divas ke bhayo |He kept on travelling whole night and when day broke he dismounted.
ਥੋ ਸੁ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਨ ਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tho su kumaar adhik tan haariyo |Himself he was tired and he was carrying with him Sahiban as well,
ਔਰ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੧॥
aauar saahibaa saath bihaariyo |21|He felt exhausted and went to sleep and, on the other side, her all the relatives realised.(21)
ਸ੍ਰਮਤ ਭਯੋ ਤਹ ਕਛੁ ਸ੍ਵੈ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥
sramat bhayo tah kachh svai rahiyo |Some fell asleep due to exhaustion.
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਸਭ ਸਮਧਿਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਲਯੋ ॥
tab lau sabh samadhin sun layo |Until then, all the relatives (of the Sahibs) heard.
ਚੜੇ ਤੁਰੈ ਸਭ ਸੂਰ ਰਿਸਾਏ ॥
charre turai sabh soor risaae |All the warriors got angry and got on their horses.
ਬਾਧੇ ਗੋਲ ਤਹਾ ਕਹ ਧਾਏ ॥੨੨॥
baadhe gol tahaa kah dhaae |22|Infuriated, they set up teams and marched tOwards that direction.(22)
ਤਬ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਛੋਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
tab saahibaa drig chhor nihaaraa |Then the lords opened their eyes and looked
ਹੇਰੈ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਅਸਵਾਰਾ ॥
herai chahoon or asavaaraa |When Sahiban opened her eyes, she saw the riders on all sides.
ਸੰਗ ਭਾਈ ਦੋਊ ਤਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
sang bhaaee doaoo taeh nihaare |He also saw his two brothers with him
ਕਰੁਣਾ ਬਹੇ ਨੈਨ ਕਜਰਾਰੇ ॥੨੩॥
karunaa bahe nain kajaraare |23|With them, when she saw her two brothers, she could not help her tears.(23)
ਜੌ ਹਮਰੇ ਪਤਿ ਇਨੇ ਨਿਹਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
jau hamare pat ine nihar hai |If my husband (Mirza) will see these (two brothers).
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਬਾਨ ਦੁਹੂਅਨੰ ਕਹ ਹਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
duhoon baan duhooanan kah har hai |‘If my husband saw them, he will kill them both with two arrows.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਜਤਨ ਅਬ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
taa te kachhoo jatan ab keejai |So one should make an effort
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਿ ਭਾਇਯਨ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੨੪॥
jaa te raakh bhaaeiyan leejai |24|‘Something must be done, so that my brothers are spared.’(24)
ਸੋਵਤ ਹੁਤੋ ਮੀਤ ਨ ਜਗਾਯੋ ॥
sovat huto meet na jagaayo |He did not wake up the sleeping Mitra (Mirza).
ਜਾਡ ਭਏ ਤਰਕਸ ਅਟਕਾਯੋ ॥
jaadd bhe tarakas attakaayo |She did not wake her friend up but took his quiver and hung it Over the tree.
ਔਰ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਦੁਰਾਏ ॥
aauar sasatr lai kahoon duraae |He also took other weapons and hid them somewhere.
ਖੋਜੇ ਹੁਤੇ ਜਾਤ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੨੫॥
khoje hute jaat neh paae |25|Also she hid away his other weapons so that he could not find them.(25)
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਆਇ ਸੂਰ ਸਭ ਗਏ ॥
tab lau aae soor sabh ge |By then all the heroes had arrived
ਮਾਰੋ ਮਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰਤ ਭਏ ॥
maaro maar pukaarat bhe |In the meantime, all the gallant ones came and shoUted ‘kill him, kill him’.
ਤਬ ਮਿਰਜਾ ਜੂ ਨੈਨ ਉਘਾਰੇ ॥
tab mirajaa joo nain ughaare |Then Mirza opened his eyes (and said)
ਕਹਾ ਗਏ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੨੬॥
kahaa ge hathiyaar hamaare |26|Then Mirza opened his eyes and asked where were his weapons.(26)
ਭੌਡੀ ਰਾਡ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhauaddee raadd kahiyo kayaa kariyo |And began to say, O vile woman! What have you done?
ਤਰਕਸ ਟਾਗਿ ਜਾਡ ਪੈ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥
tarakas ttaag jaadd pai dhariyo |‘Oh, you the mean woman, why have you. done this and hung my quiver on the tree?
ਪਹੁਚੇ ਆਨਿ ਪਖਰਿਯਾ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
pahuche aan pakhariyaa bhaare |The strong horsemen have arrived.
ਕਹਾ ਧਰੇ ਤੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੨੭॥
kahaa dhare te sasatr hamaare |27|‘The riders have come nearer, where have you put my weapons?(27)
ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹੋ ਕਿਹ ਮਾਰੋ ॥
sasatran binaa kaho kih maaro |Without weapons tell (me) how (I) kill
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥
kahu naaree kayaa mantr bichaaro |‘Say something woman, withoUt weapons, how can kill them?
ਸਾਥੀ ਕੋਊ ਸੰਗ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
saathee koaoo sang mai naahee |I have no partner with me.
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਅਧਿਕ ਇਹੈ ਚਿਤ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੨੮॥
chintaa adhik ihai chit maahee |28|‘Afraid, I have no friend of mine with me.’(28)
ਹੇਰ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਆਯੁਧ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
her rahiyo aayudh neh paae |The search was exhausted, (but nowhere) weapons were found.
ਤਬ ਲਗ ਘੇਰ ਦੁਬਹਿਯਾ ਆਏ ॥
tab lag gher dubahiyaa aae |In spite of searching hard, he could not find his weapons;
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਬਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪਰ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
triy ko baaj prisatt par ddaariyo |(His brother) threw the woman on the horse's back
