ਭੇਤ ਚਿਤ ਕੌ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਜਤਾਵਾ ॥੫॥

ਤਾਜੀ ਕੂੰ ਤੁਰਾਇ ਕੈ ਅਸਾੜੀ ਓੜਿ ਰਾਹ ਪੌਣਾ ਜਾਲਿਮ ਜਵਾਲ ਦੁਹਾ ਨੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਚਾਵਣਾ ॥
taajee koon turaae kai asaarree orr raah pauanaa jaalim javaal duhaa nainaa noo nachaavanaa |Oh dear friend! Dismounting the horse, falling on the way to our side and measuring both the tyrant and the fire (like burning).
ਅੰਜਨ ਦਿਵਾਇ ਬਾੜ ਬਿਸਿਖ ਚੜਾਇ ਕੈ ਖੁਸਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੜਾਇ ਨਾਲੇ ਕੈਫਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੜਾਵਣਾ ॥
anjan divaae baarr bisikh charraae kai khusaalee noo barraae naale kaifaa noo charraavanaa |By putting surma and offering nain rupa banas on saan and increasing my happiness drinking liquor a lot.
ਬਦਨ ਦਿਖਾਣਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛਾਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਣਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਨੈਣ ਜੋੜਿ ਵੇਹਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਾਵਣਾ ॥
badan dikhaanaa saanoo chhaatee naal laanaa ate nainaa naal nain jorr vehaa nehu laavanaa |To show us (your) face, to put it on the chest and to make this kind of attitude by joining naina to naina.
ਬਾਚੇ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਆਣਾ ਮੈਹੀ ਮਿਲੇ ਬ੍ਯਾਂ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਾਈ ਯਾਰੋ ਜੀ ਅਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਸ ਆਵਣਾ ਹੀ ਆਵਣਾ ॥੬॥
baache patr aanaa maihee mile bayaan na jaanaa saaee yaaro jee asaadde paas aavanaa hee aavanaa |6|Come while reading the letter, don't leave without meeting me and come to me only come (meaning definitely come) 2.6.

ਗੁਡੀਯਾ ਬਿਖੈ ਸੰਦੇਸ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਪਠਾਇ ॥
guddeeyaa bikhai sandes likh deeno kuar patthaae |Kumari wrote a message in the doll and sent it (to Priya).
ਤਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਲਾਗੀ ਨਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਪਹੂੰਚੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
tanik baar laagee nahee nripeh pahoonchee jaae |7|It was not enough that the (doll) reached the king.7.

ਪਤੀਯਾ ਛੋਰਿ ਲਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਹਾ ॥
pateeyaa chhor lakhee priy kahaa |What did Priya see after opening the letter?
ਇਹ ਪਠਿਯੋ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਲਿਖਿ ਉਹਾ ॥
eih patthiyo tarunee likh uhaa |That woman has written in it.
ਯਾ ਗੁਡੀਯਾ ਪਰ ਬੈਠਹੁ ਧਾਈ ॥
yaa guddeeyaa par baitthahu dhaaee |Sit in this doll quickly
ਚਿੰਤ ਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਰਾਈ ॥੮॥
chint na karahu chit mai raaee |8|And O Rajan! Don't worry too much about (some kind of) Chit. 8.
ਕੈ ਗੁਡੀਯਾ ਉਪਰ ਚੜਿ ਆਵਹੁ ॥
kai guddeeyaa upar charr aavahu |Either come on a doll,
ਨਾਤਰ ਟਾਗ ਤਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥
naatar ttaag tare kar jaavahu |Otherwise pass under the tang.
ਜੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਗਿਰਨ ਧਰਨ ਪਰ ਦੇਊ ॥
jo tuhi giran dharan par deaoo |If you fall to the ground,
ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਸਾਚ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਸ ਨ ਲੇਊ ॥੯॥
svarag saach kar baas na leaoo |9|So do not really become a resident of heaven. 9.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਪਛ ਸਤ ਸਪਤ ਪਿਤੁ ਪਰੈ ਨਰਕ ਕੁਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
maatr pachh sat sapat pit parai narak kul soe |(My) seven clans from my maternal side and seven clans from my grandfather's side will fall into the hells
ਜੌ ਗੁਡੀਯਾ ਤੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰਿ ਪਤਨ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੧੦॥
jau guddeeyaa te bhoom par patan tihaaro hoe |10|If you fall on the ground from the doll. 10.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤੁਮ ਯਾ ਕੌ ਪਿਯ ਡੋਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਹੁ ॥
tum yaa kau piy ddor na jaanahu |Oh dear! Don't take it for granted.
ਸਗੂਆ ਕੈ ਯਾ ਕੌ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਹੁ ॥
sagooaa kai yaa kau pahichaanahu |Recognize it as a cradle.
ਤੁਮਰੋ ਬਾਲ ਬਿਘਨ ਨਹਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
tumaro baal bighan neh hvai hai |Your hair will not be damaged either.
ਯਾ ਮੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਾਵ ਧਰਿ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
yaa mai dekh paav dhar lai hai |11|(You) stand in it and see. 11.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਕਤਿ ਤੇ ਮੈ ਕਿਯਾ ਸਗੂਆ ਯਾਹਿ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
mantr sakat te mai kiyaa sagooaa yaeh banaae |I have made it a cradle with (my) mantra power.
ਸੰਕ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਈਯੈ ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
sank tayaag kar aaeeyai sun raajan ke raae |12|O king of kings! Let's leave together. 12.

ਜਬ ਰਾਜੈ ਐਸੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jab raajai aaisee sun paaee |When the king heard (or read) such a (talk)
ਚਿਤ ਕੀ ਸੰਕ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਈ ॥
chit kee sank sagal bisaraaee |So all the hesitation of the mind was removed.
ਹਯ ਤੇ ਉਤਰਿ ਡੋਰਿ ਪਰ ਚਢਿਯੋ ॥
hay te utar ddor par chadtiyo |He got off the horse and sat on the rope.
ਆਨੰਦ ਅਧਿਕ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਬਢਿਯੋ ॥੧੩॥
aanand adhik chit mai badtiyo |13|Happiness in the mind increased a lot. 13.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਕੁਅਰ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਕੇ ਤੀਰ ਪਹੂਚ੍ਯੋ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥

ਕਾਮ ਭੋਗ ਕੌ ਕੀਯੋ ਹਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
kaam bhog kau keeyo harakh upajaae kai |And (they) fornicated happily.
ਸਾਹ ਤਬ ਲਗੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਪਹੂਚ੍ਯੋ ਆਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
saah tab lage dvaar pahoochayo aae kar |By then Shah also reached the door.
ਹੋ ਤਬੈ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਸੌ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਪਿਯ ਨੈਨ ਭਰਿ ॥੧੪॥
ho tabai tarun sau baat kahee piy nain bhar |14|Then the lover said to Kumari with tears in his eyes. 14.
ਅਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਸਾਹ ਮੈ ਗਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
ab triy tumaro saah mai geh maar hai |Oh dear! Your king will catch me and kill me now
ਇਹੀ ਧੌਲਹਰ ਊਪਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਹਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
eihee dhaualahar aoopar te muhi ddaar hai |And will throw me down from this palace.
ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸਭੈ ਪਸੁਰਿਯਾ ਜਾਇ ਹੈ ॥
ttook ttook hvai sabhai pasuriyaa jaae hai |All my ribs will be broken.
ਹੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਭੇਟੇ ਹਮ ਆਜੁ ਇਹੈ ਫਲ ਪਾਇ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
ho tuhi bhette ham aaj ihai fal paae hai |15|We will get this fruit of meeting you. 15.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
nrip chintaa chit bheetar kachhoo na keejiyai |(Queen said) O king! Do not worry in your mind.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਚਰਿਤ ਅਬੈ ਹੀ ਲੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
nirakh hamaaro charit abai hee leejiyai |(You) will see my character now.
ਬਾਰ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਏਕ ਨ ਬਾਕਨ ਪਾਇ ਹੈ ॥
baar tihaaro ek na baakan paae hai |Not a single hair of yours will be undone.
ਹੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਇ ਹਸਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜਾਇ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
ho ham so bhog kamaae hasat grih jaae hai |16|You will go home laughing after indulging with me. 16.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਕਤਿ ਹੁੰਡੀਆ ਤਿਹ ਕਿਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
mantr sakat hunddeea tih kiyo banaae kai |By the power of the mantra he became a ram ('Hundiya').
ਪਕਰਿ ਕਾਨ ਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਦਿਯੋ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
pakar kaan te pat ko diyo dikhaae kai |And took it by the ear and showed it to her husband.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਮੇਖ ਭੇ ਬਾਧ੍ਰਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਬਨਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
bahur mekh bhe baadhrayo nripeh banaae kar |Then (he) tied the king to the fort.
ਹੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਤਵਨ ਕੋ ਕਿਯੋ ਸੁਦੇਸ ਉਠਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥੧੭॥
ho bahur tavan ko kiyo sudes utthaae kar |17|Then he raised him and sent him to his house ('Sudes'). 17.
ਸਾਹ ਨਿਰਖ ਤੇ ਗੁਡਿਯਾ ਦਈ ਚੜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
saah nirakh te guddiyaa dee charraae kai |Seeing the Shah, (the woman) offered the doll.
ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ਸ੍ਵਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੁਡਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
kar kai sang svaar dayo nripuddaae kai |The king was blown away on a (doll).
ਪਿਯਹਿ ਨਿਰਖਿਤੇ ਮੀਤ ਦਯੋ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇ ਘਰ ॥
piyeh nirakhite meet dayo pahunchaae ghar |Pritam was taken home with her husband watching.
ਹੋ ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਕਛੁ ਜੜ ਸਕ੍ਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਿ ॥੧੮॥
ho bhed abhed na kachh jarr sakayo bichaar kar |18|That fool could not recognize the difference. 18.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਸਾਹੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਨਿਰਖਿਤਿ ਪਤਿਹ ਗੁਡਿਯਾ ਦਈ ਚੜਾਇ ॥
saahu sutaa nirakhit patih guddiyaa dee charraae |Shah's daughter blew up the doll while her husband was watching.
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਬਧੇ ਬਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਥੇ ਬਾਜਤ ਭਏ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੧੯॥
taa par badhe bajantr the baajat bhe banaae |19|The bells tied on him started ringing. 19.
ਬਿਹਸਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਿਜ ਨਾਥ ਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਪਿਯਹਿ ਪਹੁਚਾਇ ॥
bihas naar nij naath so kahiyo piyeh pahuchaae |After bringing Pritam (to her house), Rani laughed and said to her husband.
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਸਾਹ ਇਹ ਦਏ ਦਮਾਮੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੦॥
mitr hamaaro saah ih de damaamo jaae |20|Our friend is this Shah who is playing the drum. 20.

ਇਹ ਛਲ ਮੀਤ ਸਦਨ ਪਹੁਚਾਯੋ ॥

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਬਾਕਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
taa ko baar na baakan paayo |Even his hair was not allowed to be undone.
ਨਿਜੁ ਪਤਿ ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਚੀਨੋ ॥
nij pat bhed abhed na cheeno |Her husband did not understand the secret.
ਕਬਿ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਬ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੨੧॥
kab prasang pooran tab keeno |21|Then the poet completed the context. 21.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਦੋਇ ਸੌ ਅਠਾਈਸ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੨੨੮॥੪੩੩੪॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥
