ਭਵਨ ਚਤੁਰਦਸ ਮਾਝਿ ਉਜਿਯਾਰੀ ॥

raajaa chhatraket kee naaree |2|Raja Chhattar Ket’s wife was so well known that she was famous in all the ten regions.(2)
ਛਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਜਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ॥

ਅੰਗ ਉਤੰਗ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

ਪੂਤ ਆਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੈ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

ਦਿਜ ਮੁਰਿ ਹਾਥ ਦਾਨ ਨਹਿ ਲੇਹੀ ॥

ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਉਰਾਭੇ ਦੇਹੀ ॥੫॥
grih ke log uraabhe dehee |5|‘And Brahmins (priests) would not accept alms through my hands and populace would taunt me.(5)
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਰਾਚਾਰ ਕਛੁ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਰਾਵ ਕੋ ਬਦਨ ਉਚਰਿਯੈ ॥

ਏਕ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਲੀਜੈ ਉਪਜਾਈ ॥

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਕਵਨ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਹੈ ਆਈ ॥੬॥

ਸਵਤਿ ਏਕ ਤਿਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥

ਇਹ ਬ੍ਯਾਹਹੁ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਉਡਾਈ ॥

ਤੇ ਵਾ ਕੀ ਸਵਤਿਹ ਚਹੈ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਪਾਇ ॥੮॥
te vaa kee savatih chahai sakai na moorakh paae |8|But people still liked her co-wife and this fool could not acquiesce.(8)

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੂੰਡ ਕਰਿ ਖਾਵੈ ॥

ਤਾ ਕਹ ਦਰਬੁ ਨ ਦੇਖਨ ਦੇਹੀ ॥

ਲੂਟਿ ਕੂਟਿ ਬਾਹਰ ਤੇ ਲੇਹੀ ॥੧੦॥

ਪੁਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਮਿਲਿਹਿ ਸਵਤਿ ਸੌ ਜਾਈ ॥

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
bhaat bhaat tin kareh baddaaee |But she used to meet the co-wife as well and often praised her saying,
ਤੁਮ ਕਹ ਬਰਿ ਹੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
tum kah bar hai nripat hamaaro |
ਹ੍ਵੈਹੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਤੁਮਾਰੋ ॥੧੧॥
hvaihai adhik prataap tumaaro |11|‘Our Raja will retain you and your magnificence will flourish.’(11)
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਧਨ ਲੂਟਹਿ ॥
yau keh kai taa kau dhan lootteh |
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਆਨਿ ਵਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕਹ ਕੂਟਹਿ ॥
bahur aan vaa triyaa kah kootteh |Outwardly she robbed her of her wealth and beat her (mentally).
ਇਹ ਬਿਧ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤਿਨੈ ਦਿਖਰਾਵੈ ॥

ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੂੰਡਿ ਕੈ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੧੨॥
duhoonan moondd moondd kai khaavai |12|Advancing in such a way, she ransacked them both lavishly.(12)

ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
anik bhaat tih nripat ko duhoonan traas dikhaae |Thus, both of them, as a matter of fact, indulged in many deceits,
ਦਰਬੁ ਜੜਨਿ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਕੌ ਇਹ ਛਲ ਛਲਹਿ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
darab jarran ke dhaam kau ih chhal chhaleh banaae |13|As they ravaged the Raja’s wealth through trickery.(l3)
