ਰਾਵ ਰੰਕ ਅਰੁ ਬਚਤ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥੪॥

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਜੋ ਉਪਜਿਯੋ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਿਯੋ ਜਿਯਤ ਨ ਰਹਸੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
jo upajiyo so binasiyo jiyat na rahasee koe |That which is born will perish, none will survive.
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਸੁਰ ਸੁਰਪਤਿ ਕੋਊ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
aooch neech raajaa prajaa sur surapat koaoo hoe |5|(Whether) high and low, kings and subjects, gods or Indra, anyone (why not) ॥5॥
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਤੁਮ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਨਿਵਾਰਹੁ ॥
tum sundar sabh sok nivaarahu |(Then the king said) O beauty! You remove all the pain
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਕਹ ਹਿਯੈ ਸੰਭਾਰਹੁ ॥
sree jadupat kah hiyai sanbhaarahu |And meditate on Sri Krishna in your mind.
ਵਾ ਸੁਤ ਕੋ ਕਛੁ ਸੋਕ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
vaa sut ko kachh sok na keejai |Don't let that son suffer
ਔਰ ਮਾਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੇ ਸੁਤ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੬॥
aauar maag prabh te sut leejai |6|And ask God for another son. 6.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਅਵਰ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਧਾਮ ਮੈ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ਪੂਤ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
avar tumaare dhaam mai hvai hai poot apaar |gentle beauty! Listen, you will have many more sons in your house.
ਵਾ ਕੋ ਸੋਕ ਨ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ਸੁਨ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸੁਕੁਮਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
vaa ko sok na keejiyai sun sundar sukumaar |7|So don't worry too much about him.7.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਜਬ ਰਾਜੈ ਯੌ ਤਿਹ ਸਮਝਾਯੋ ॥
jab raajai yau tih samajhaayo |When the king explained to him like this.
ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਸੁਤ ਸੋਕ ਮਿਟਾਯੋ ॥
tab raanee sut sok mittaayo |Then the queen forgot her son's grief.
ਅਵਰ ਪੂਤ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ਭਏ ॥
avar poot kee aasaa bhe |She started expecting another son.
ਚੌਬਿਸ ਬਰਿਸ ਬੀਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਗਏ ॥੮॥
chauabis baris beet kar ge |8|(Only in this hope) twenty-four years passed. 8.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਰ ਇਕ ਪੇਖਤ ਤਬ ਅਬਲਾ ਭਈ ॥
sundar nar ik pekhat tab abalaa bhee |Then the woman saw a handsome man.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੁਧਿ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਗਈ ॥
grih kee sabh sudh bisar taeh tab hee gee |At that moment he forgot all the wisdom of the house.
ਪਠੈ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਲਿਯੋ ਮੰਗਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
patthai sahacharee taa kau liyo mangaae kai |He sent the maid and called her.
ਹੋ ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੯॥
ho kaam kel tih sang kariyo sukh paae kai |9|Played with him happily. 9.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਯੌ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
tab raanee yau hridai bichaaree |Then the queen thought this thing in her heart.
ਬੋਲਿ ਜਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਸਕਲ ਸਿਖਾਰੀ ॥
bol jaar prat sakal sikhaaree |Taught the whole thing to the friend
ਲਰਿਕਾ ਹੁਤੋ ਜੋਗ੍ਰਯਹ ਹਰਿਯੋ ॥
larikaa huto jograyah hariyo |(that when I was) a child, (a) Jogi stole,
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਜਾਨਿ ਨ ਮੋ ਬਧਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
sundar jaan na mo badh kariyo |10|But don't kill me thinking it's beautiful. 10.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਥੋ ਬਾਲਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਹਰਿਯੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਭਿਰਟੀ ਕੇ ਭੇਸ ॥
tho baalak jogee hariyo hvai bhirattee ke bhes |(I) was a child and Jogi took the form of a she-wolf.
ਮੈ ਜਾਨਤ ਨਹਿ ਕਵਨ ਸੁਤ ਬਸਤ ਕਵਨ ਸੇ ਦੇਸ ॥੧੧॥
mai jaanat neh kavan sut basat kavan se des |11|I do not know whose son I am and which country I belong to. 11.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਜਾਰ ਸੰਗ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਿਖਾਈ ॥
jaar sang ih bhaat sikhaaee |Dude taught like this
ਆਪ ਰਾਵ ਸੋ ਜਾਇ ਜਤਾਈ ॥
aap raav so jaae jataaee |And he went and told the king
ਜੋ ਬਾਲਕ ਮੈ ਪੂਤ ਗਵਾਯੋ ॥
jo baalak mai poot gavaayo |That the infant son I had lost,
ਸੋ ਮੈ ਆਜੁ ਖੋਜ ਤੇ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੨॥
so mai aaj khoj te paayo |12|have found that today by searching. 12.
ਸੁਨਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਚਨ ਅਨੰਦਿਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
sun nrip bachan anandit bhayo |The king was delighted to hear these words
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਬੋਲਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਤਬ ਲਯੋ ॥
taa ko bol nikatt tab layo |and called him to him.
ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
tab raanee ih bhaat uchaaro |Then the queen said thus,
ਸੁਨੋ ਪੂਤ ਤੁਮ ਬਚਨ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥੧੩॥
suno poot tum bachan hamaaro |13|O son! You listen to us. 13.
ਸਕਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਤੁਮ ਕਹੋ ॥
sakal brithaa apanee tum kaho |You tell (us) your whole past
ਹਮਰੇ ਸਭ ਸੋਕਨ ਕਹ ਦਹੋ ॥
hamare sabh sokan kah daho |And burn away all our sorrows.
ਰਾਜਾ ਸੋਂ ਕਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
raajaa son keh pragatt sunaayo |Tell the king clearly
ਰਾਜਪੂਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਾਜ ਕਮਾਯੋ ॥੧੪॥
raajapoot hvai raaj kamaayo |14|And reign as a king's son. 14.
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਨੀ ਮੈ ਕਹਾ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥
sun raanee mai kahaa bakhaano |O Queen! Listen to what I have to say.
ਬਾਲਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਕਛੂ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਨੋ ॥
baalak huto kachhoo neh jaano |I was a child and knew nothing.
ਜੋਗੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਤੁਮ ਤਨ ਕਹਿਹੌ ॥
jogee kahiyo su tum tan kahihau |I am telling you what Jogi said
ਸੋਕ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਦਹਿਹੌ ॥੧੫॥
sok santaap tihaaro dahihau |15|And remove your pain and suffering. 15.
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਯੌ ਜੌਗੀਸ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
eik din yau jauagees uchaariyo |One day (that) Jogi told (me) thus
ਸੂਰਤਿ ਸਹਿਰ ਬਡੋ ਉਜਿਯਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
soorat sahir baddo ujiyaariyo |That is a big beautiful city 'Surat'.
ਹ੍ਵੈ ਭਿਰਟੀ ਮੈ ਤਹਾ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
hvai bhirattee mai tahaa sidhaayo |I went there as a wolf
ਬਾਲਕ ਸੁਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੬॥
baalak sut raajaa ko paayo |16|And received the infant son of the king. 16.
ਹ੍ਵੈ ਭਿਰਟੀ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਮੈ ਧਯੋ ॥
hvai bhirattee jab hee mai dhayo |When I ran as a wolf,
ਭਾਜਿ ਲੋਗ ਆਗੇ ਤੇ ਗਯੋ ॥
bhaaj log aage te gayo |So people ran ahead.
ਤੋਹਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਬਗਲੀ ਮਹਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
tohi ddaar bagalee meh leeno |(I) put you in the bagli
ਔਰੈ ਦੇਸ ਪਯਾਨੋ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੧੭॥
aauarai des payaano keeno |17|And went to another country. 17.
ਚੇਲਾ ਅਵਰ ਭਛ ਤਬ ਲ੍ਯਾਏ ॥
chelaa avar bhachh tab layaae |Then other disciples brought (food) to eat.
ਤਾਹਿ ਖ੍ਵਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਥ ਰਿਝਾਏ ॥
taeh khvaae kar naath rijhaae |They pleased the lord by eating.
ਭਛਨ ਕਾਜਿ ਔਰ ਕੋਊ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhachhan kaaj aauar koaoo dhariyo |(They) kept something else to eat
ਰਾਵ ਪੂਤ ਲਖਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਬਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੮॥
raav poot lakh mohi ubariyo |18|And thinking that he was the king's son, he released me. 18.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਨੀ ਐਸੇ ਬਚਨ ਨੈਨਨ ਨੀਰੁ ਬਹਾਇ ॥
sun raanee aaise bachan nainan neer bahaae |Tears flowed from Rani's eyes after hearing this
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਦੇਖਤ ਸੁਤ ਜਾਰ ਕਹਿ ਲਯੋ ਗਰੇ ਸੋ ਲਾਇ ॥੧੯॥
nrip dekhat sut jaar keh layo gare so laae |19|And when the king saw him, he called the friend his son and embraced him. 19.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਬਾਲਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਪੂਤ ਤਬ ਹਰਿਯੋ ॥
baalak huto poot tab hariyo |(When) the son was a child, then he was stolen.
ਮੋਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਸੁ ਜਿਯਤ ਉਬਰਿਯੋ ॥
more bhaag su jiyat ubariyo |But I have survived only by doing good things.
ਕੌਨਹੂੰ ਕਾਜ ਦੇਸ ਇਹ ਆਯੋ ॥
kauanahoon kaaj des ih aayo |He came to (this) country only for some work.
ਸੋ ਹਮ ਆਜੁ ਖੋਜ ਤੇ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੨੦॥
so ham aaj khoj te paayo |20|So today I have searched and got it. 20.
ਗਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਗਰੇ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥
geh geh taa ko gare lagaavai |She held him and hugged him
ਦੇਖਤ ਰਾਵ ਚੂੰਬਿ ਮੁਖ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
dekhat raav choonb mukh jaavai |And on seeing the king, she would kiss (his) face.
ਅਪਨੇ ਧਾਮ ਸੇਜ ਡਸਵਾਈ ॥
apane dhaam sej ddasavaaee |Sage laid in his own house
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿਰਾਜਤ ਜਾਈ ॥੨੧॥
taa sau rain biraajat jaaee |21|And sat down with him at night. 21.
ਆਠੋ ਜਾਮ ਧਾਮ ਤਿਹ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
aattho jaam dhaam tih raakhai |She kept him at home at eight o'clock
ਪੂਤ ਪੂਤ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਤਿਹ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
poot poot mukh te tih bhaakhai |And called him son son by mouth.
ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਨਿਸਿ ਭਈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
kaam kel nis bhee kamaavai |Played with him day and night.
