ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਨ ਦਰਬ ਲੁਟਾਵਤ ॥
bhaat bhaat tan darab luttaavat |And she used to steal money from one another.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਸਭਹੂੰ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਵੈ ॥
yau keh sabhahoon sees jhukaavai |(She) said this and bowed in front of everyone
ਯਹ ਕਾਜੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
yah kaajee sundar hvai jaavai |5|That this cause becomes beautiful. 5.
ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਉਪ ਪਤਿਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
ek divas up patihi bulaaee |(He) called the vice-husband (man) one day
ਕਾਨ ਲਾਗਿ ਸਭ ਬਾਤ ਸਿਖਾਈ ॥
kaan laag sabh baat sikhaaee |And explained the whole thing close to the ear.
ਬੀਚ ਛਪਾਇ ਸਦਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਖਾ ॥
beech chhapaae sadan ke raakhaa |Kept (him) hidden in the house
ਔਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੌ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਭਾਖਾ ॥੬॥
aauar naar sau bhev na bhaakhaa |6|And did not tell the secret to any other woman. 6.
ਸਭ ਮਲੇਛ ਉਠਿ ਫਜਿਰ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
sabh malechh utth fajir bulaae |He called all the Muslims ('Malech') at dawn ('Fajr').
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਜਿਵਾਏ ॥
bhaat bhaat ke saath jivaae |And served different kinds of food.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸਭੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਦੁਆਇ ॥
kahiyo sabhai mil dehu duaae |(They began to say that) give dua all together
ਮਮ ਪਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਕਰੈ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੭॥
mam pat sundar karai khudaae |7|May God make my husband beautiful. 7.
ਸਭਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਤਸਬਿਯੈ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
sabhahoon haath tasabiyai leenee |All held tasbis (garlands) in their hands
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੁਆਇ ਤਵਨ ਕਹ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
bahu bidh duaae tavan kah deenee |And prayed to him profusely.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਨ ਕਰੀ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥
bhaat bhaat tan karee sunaae |Told him in many ways
ਤਵ ਪਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕਰੈ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੮॥
tav pat sundar karai khudaae |8|May God make your husband beautiful. 8.
ਲੈ ਦੁਆਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਧਾਮ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥
lai duaae triy dhaam sidhaaee |The woman came home with dua
ਮਾਰਿ ਕਾਜਿਯਹਿ ਦਿਯੋ ਦਬਾਈ ॥
maar kaajiyeh diyo dabaaee |And killed and suppressed the Qazi.
ਕਰਿ ਕਾਜੀ ਲੈਗੀ ਤਿਹ ਤਹਾ ॥
kar kaajee laigee tih tahaa |She made him (the man) Qazi and took him there.
ਪੜਤ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਮੁਲਾਨੇ ਜਹਾ ॥੯॥
parrat kitaab mulaane jahaa |9|Where Maulana was reading the book ('Qur'an'). 9.
ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤਾ ਕਹ ਹਰਖਾਨੀ ॥
prajaa nirakh taa kah harakhaanee |(All) the people were happy to see him
ਸਾਚੁ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਆਪਨੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
saach kitaab aapanee jaanee |and believed his book to be true.
ਹਮ ਜੋ ਯਾ ਕਹ ਦਈ ਦੁਆਇ ॥
ham jo yaa kah dee duaae |(saying) We who gave dua to it,
ਯਾ ਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕਰਾ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੧੦॥
yaa te sundar karaa khudaae |10|By doing that, God has made (it) beautiful. 10.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਕਾਜਿਯਹਿ ਘਾਈ ॥
eih bidh pratham kaajiyeh ghaaee |Thus he killed Qazi first
ਬਰਤ ਭਈ ਅਪਨਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
barat bhee apanaa sukhadaaee |And married his friend.
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਕਿਨੂੰ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
bhed abhed na kinoo bichaaraa |No one understood the difference.
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਬਰਾ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਯਾਰਾ ॥੧੧॥
eih chhal baraa apanaa payaaraa |11|Married his friend with this trick. 11.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਤੁਮ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਅਤਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰ ਦੀਨੀ ਹਮੈ ਦੁਆਇ ॥
tum sabh hee at kripaa kar deenee hamai duaae |(The woman started saying) You all have blessed me very kindly.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਭਯੋ ਕੀਨੀ ਮਯਾ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
taa te pat sundar bhayo keenee mayaa khudaae |12|By which God showed mercy and made my husband beautiful. 12.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਤੀਨ ਸੌ ਇਕ੍ਯਾਨਵੇ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੩੯੧॥੬੯੬੬॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥

ਭੂਪ ਸੁ ਧਰਮ ਸੈਨ ਇਕ ਸੁਨਿਯਤ ॥
bhoop su dharam sain ik suniyat |A king named Dharam Sen used to listen,
ਜਿਹ ਸਮਾਨ ਜਗ ਦੁਤਿਯ ਨ ਗੁਨਿਯਤ ॥
jih samaan jag dutiy na guniyat |Like whom no one else in the world was considered.
ਚੰਦਨ ਦੇ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਭਨਿਜੈ ॥
chandan de tih naar bhanijai |His wife's name was Chandan De (Dei).
ਜਿਹ ਮੁਖ ਛਬਿ ਨਿਸਕਰ ਕਹ ਦਿਜੈ ॥੧॥
jih mukh chhab nisakar kah dijai |1|Whose mouth was likened to the moon. 1.
ਸੰਦਲ ਦੇ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਸੁਹੈ ॥
sandal de duhitaa tih suhai |He had a daughter named Sandal (Dei).
ਖਗ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਜਛ ਭੁਜੰਗਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
khag mrig jachh bhujangan mohai |(He) was adoring (to all) birds, Mirgas, Yakshas, snakes etc.
ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਤਨ ਮੋ ਤਿਨ ਧਰੀ ॥
adhik prabhaa tan mo tin dharee |He had a lot of radiance in his body. (seemed like this)
ਮਦਨ ਸੁ ਨਾਰ ਭਰਤ ਜਨੁ ਭਰੀ ॥੨॥
madan su naar bharat jan bharee |2|It is as if Kama Dev had filled (the meaning of) (himself). ॥2॥
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੁਤ ਏਕ ਸੁਘਰ ਤਿਨ ਹੇਰਿਯੋ ॥
nrip sut ek sughar tin heriyo |He saw a handsome Rajkumar
ਮਦਨ ਆਨਿ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਤਨ ਘੇਰਿਯੋ ॥
madan aan taa kaa tan gheriyo |And Kaam Dev came and surrounded his body.
ਸਖੀ ਏਕ ਤਹ ਦਈ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
sakhee ek tah dee patthaaee |He sent a Sakhi to him.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਲ੍ਯਾਈ ॥੩॥
anik jatan kar kai tih layaaee |3|(She) made many efforts to bring him. 3.
ਆਨਿ ਸਜਨ ਤਿਨ ਦਯੋ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
aan sajan tin dayo milaae |(Sakhi) brought Mitra and joined him with Raj Kumari
ਰਮੀ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
ramee kuar taa sau lapattaae |And Raj Kumari embraced him and made love.
ਅਟਕ ਗਯੋ ਜਿਯ ਤਜਾ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
attak gayo jiy tajaa na jaaee |(His) mind became attached to (Raj Kumar), (and now he) could not be released.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੪॥
eih bidh tin keenee chaturaaee |4|(In order to get him forever) he did this kind of trick. 4.
ਤੋਪ ਬਡੀ ਇਕ ਲਈ ਮੰਗਾਇ ॥
top baddee ik lee mangaae |He called for a big cannon,
ਜਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਮਨੁਛ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
jih meh baitth manuchh te jaae |In which there was a place for man to sit.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਕਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਤਾ ਮੋ ਬਰੀ ॥
mantr sakat kar taa mo baree |She penetrated him with the power of the mantra
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਰੀ ॥੫॥
mitr bhe ih bhaat ucharee |5|And spoke thus to Mitra.5.
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਖੀ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
mitr bidaa kar sakhee bulaaee |Saying goodbye to Mitra, he called Sakhi
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਹਾ ਸਮੁਝਾਈ ॥
eih bidh taeh kahaa samujhaaee |And so explained to him
ਤੋਪ ਬਿਖੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਚਲੈਯਹੁ ॥
top bikhai muhi ddaar chalaiyahu |Put me in the cannon and run
ਇਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੁਤ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਪਹੁਚੈਯਹੁ ॥੬॥
eih nrip sut ke grih pahuchaiyahu |6|And deliver it to Raj Kumar's house. 6.
ਜਬ ਸਹਚਰਿ ਐਸੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਲਈ ॥
jab sahachar aaise sun lee |When Sakhi heard this
ਦਾਰੂ ਡਾਰਿ ਆਗਿ ਤਿਹ ਦਈ ॥
daaroo ddaar aag tih dee |So he put gunpowder ('daru') (in the cannon) and set it on fire.
ਗੋਰਾ ਜਿਮਿ ਲੈ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
goraa jim lai kuar chalaayo |Raj Kumari was driven like a ball
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਕਤਿ ਜਮ ਨਿਕਟ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੭॥
mantr sakat jam nikatt na aayo |7|And due to the power of the mantra, Jam did not come near.7.
ਜਾਇ ਪਰੀ ਨਿਜੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੇ ਘਰ ॥
jaae paree nij preetam ke ghar |(She) will go to the beloved's house,
ਪਾਹਨ ਜੈਸ ਹਨਾ ਗੋਫਨ ਕਰਿ ॥
paahan jais hanaa gofan kar |As a stone is thrown from a ghubani.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਮੀਤ ਤਿਹ ਲਿਯਾ ਉਠਾਈ ॥
nirakh meet tih liyaa utthaaee |Mitra saw him and picked him up.
ਪੋਛਿ ਅੰਗਿ ਉਰ ਸਾਥ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੮॥
pochh ang ur saath lagaaee |8|He wiped (his) body and put it on his chest. 8.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਮੀਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਰੀ ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਕਾ ਨੇਹ ॥
meet adhik upamaa karee dhanay kuar kaa neh |Mitra, praising her greatly, blessed the love of Raj Kumari.
ਗੋਲਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਤੋਪਹਿ ਉਡੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰੀ ਨ ਦੇਹਿ ॥੯॥
golaa hvai topeh uddee chintaa karee na dehi |9|He became a ball and flew through the cannon and did not even worry about his body. 9.

ਇਤੈ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਮਿਤਵਾ ਕੇ ਗਈ ॥
eitai kuar mitavaa ke gee |Here Raj Kumari went to Mitra
ਉਤੈ ਸਖਿਨ ਭੂਪਹਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਦਈ ॥
autai sakhin bhoopeh sudh dee |And there Sakhi went and informed the king
ਦਾਰੂ ਡਾਰਿ ਅਨਲ ਹਮ ਦਈ ॥
daaroo ddaar anal ham dee |By adding gunpowder, I set it on fire
ਤੋਪ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਉਡਿ ਗਈ ॥੧੦॥
top bikhai tarunee udd gee |10|And Raj Kumari flew out of the cannon. 10.
