ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |DOHRA
ਜਬੈ ਜਸੋਦਾ ਸੁਇ ਗਈ ਮਾਯਾ ਕੀਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ ॥
jabai jasodaa sue gee maayaa keeyo prakaas |When Jasodha fell asleep, (at that time) Maya was born (as a girl).
ਡਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਤਿਹ ਪੈ ਸੁਤਾ ਲੀਨੀ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਸ ॥੬੮॥
ddaar krisan tih pai sutaa leenee hai kar taas |68|On this side when Yashoda went to sleep and Yoga-maya (deceptive show) appeared in her womb putting Krishna by the side of Yashoda, Vasudev picked up her daughter and started backwards.68.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਮਾਯਾ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਸੁ ਸੀਘ੍ਰ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
maayaa ko lai kar mai basudev su seeghr chaliyo apune grih maahee |Taking Maya in his hands, Vasudev quickly went to his house and
ਸੋਇ ਗਏ ਪਰ ਦੁਆਰ ਸਬੈ ਘਰ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
soe ge par duaar sabai ghar baahar bheetar kee sudh naahee |At that time all the people were sleeping and none had the consciousness about the happenings inside and outside
ਦੇਵਕੀ ਤੀਰ ਗਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਗੇ ਪਟ ਆਪਸਿ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
devakee teer gayo jab hee sabh te milage patt aapas maahee |When Vasudev came near Devaki, the doors closed themselves
ਬਾਲਿ ਉਠੀ ਜਬ ਰੋਦਨ ਕੈ ਜਗ ਕੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਜਾਇ ਕਰੀ ਨਰ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੬੯॥
baal utthee jab rodan kai jag kai sudh jaae karee nar naahee |69|When the servants heard the cries of the female infant, they informed the king.69.
ਰੋਇ ਉਠੀ ਵਹ ਬਾਲਿ ਜਬੈ ਤਬ ਸ੍ਰੋਨਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਹੋਰੈ ॥
roe utthee vah baal jabai tab sronan mai sun lee dhun horai |When that female infant wept, then all the people heard her cries,
ਧਾਇ ਗਏ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੰਸਹ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਜਨਮਿਯੋ ਰਿਪੁ ਤੋਰੈ ॥
dhaae ge nrip kansah ke ghar jaae kahiyo janamiyo rip torai |The servants ran to inform the king, they told him that his enemy had taken birth
ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਚਲਿ ਜਾਇ ਗਹੀ ਕਰ ਤੈ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਰੈ ॥
lai ke kripaan gayo tih ke chal jaae gahee kar tai kar jorai |Holding fast his sword in both his hands Kansa went there
ਦੇਖਹੁ ਬਾਤ ਮਹਾ ਜੜ ਕੀ ਅਬ ਆਦਿਕ ਕੇ ਬਿਖ ਚਾਬਤ ਭੋਰੈ ॥੭੦॥
dekhahu baat mahaa jarr kee ab aadik ke bikh chaabat bhorai |70|Look at the vicious action of this great fool, who himself is going to drink the poison i.e. he himself is preparing for his own death.70.
ਲਾਇ ਰਹੀ ਉਰ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਮਤਵਾਰੇ ॥
laae rahee ur so tih ko mukh te kahiyo baat suno matavaare |Devaki had hugged the female infant to her bosom she said,
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਹਨੇ ਮਮ ਪਾਵਕ ਸੇ ਛਠ ਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਥਰ ਪੈ ਹਨਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
putr hane mam paavak se chhatth hee tum paathar pai han ddaare |“O fool! listen to me, you have already killed my radiant sons by dashing them against the stones”
ਛੀਨ ਕੈ ਕੰਸ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭੀ ਪਟਕੇ ਇਹ ਕੈ ਅਬ ਨਾਰੇ ॥
chheen kai kans kahiyo mukh te ih bhee pattake ih kai ab naare |Hearing these words Kansa immediately seized the infant and said, “Now, I shall also kill her by dashing her.”
ਦਾਮਿਨੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਲਹਕੀ ਨਭ ਮੈ ਜਬ ਰਾਖ ਲਈ ਵਹ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੭੧॥
daaminee hvai lahakee nabh mai jab raakh lee vah raakhanahaare |71|When Kansa did all that, then this infant, who was protected by the Lord, went as lightning in the sky and flased.71.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਕੈ ਕੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬ੍ਯੋਤ ਵਾ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਬੇ ਕੀ ਚਾਕਰਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਮਾਰ ਡਾਰੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
kai kai krodh man kar bayot vaa ke maarabe kee chaakaran kahio maar ddaaro nrip baat hai |Kansa said to his servants in great fury and after great consideration, “I order you to kill her
ਕਰ ਮੋ ਉਠਾਇ ਕੈ ਬਨਾਇ ਭਾਰੇ ਪਾਥਰ ਪੈ ਰਾਜ ਕਾਜ ਰਾਖਬੇ ਕੋ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
kar mo utthaae kai banaae bhaare paathar pai raaj kaaj raakhabe ko kachh nahee paat hai |” Holding her in dashed against a huge stone
ਆਪਨੋ ਸੋ ਬਲ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਹ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਤ ਸ੍ਵਛੰਦ ਬੰਦ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਛੂਟ ਇਹ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
aapano so bal kar raakhai ih bhalee bhaat svachhand band kai kai chhoott ih jaat hai |But inspite of being held in such strong hands, she herself was slipping away and spattering
ਮਾਯਾ ਕੋ ਬਢਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਸਭਨ ਸੁਨਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਐਸੇ ਉਡੀ ਬਾਰਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਰਾ ਉਡਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ॥੭੨॥
maayaa ko badtaae kai su sabhan sunaae kai su aaise uddee baaraa jaise paaraa udd jaat hai |72|Because of the impact of maya, she splashed like mercury, causing everyone to listen to her voice.72.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਆਠ ਭੁਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਸਭਨੋ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਬਰ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੀਨੇ ॥
aatth bhujaa kar kai apanee sabhano kar mai bar aayudh leene |This maya manifested herself assuming eight arms and holding her weapons in her hands
ਜਵਾਲ ਨਿਕਾਸ ਕਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਰਿਪੁ ਅਉਰ ਭਯੋ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਮਤਿ ਹੀਨੇ ॥
javaal nikaas kahee mukh te rip aaur bhayo tumaro mat heene |The flames of fire were coming out of her mouth, she said, “O foolish Kansa! your enemy has taken birth at another place”
