ਸਕਲ ਕਟੇ ਭਟ ਕਟਕ ਕੇ ਪਾਇਕ ਰਥ ਹੈ ਕੁੰਭ ॥
sakal katte bhatt kattak ke paaeik rath hai kunbh |“All the warriors of the army, those on foot, on chariots, horses and elephants have been killed.”,
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਚਨ ਅਚਰਜ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੋਪ ਕੀਓ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੁੰਭ ॥੧੦੪॥
yau sun bachan acharaj hvai kop keeo nrip sunbh |104|Hearing these words and in astonishment, the king Sumbh became furious.104.,
ਚੰਡ ਮੁੰਡ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਦੈਤ ਤਬ ਲੀਨੇ ਸੁੰਭਿ ਹਕਾਰਿ ॥
chandd mundd dvai dait tab leene sunbh hakaar |Then the king called two demons Chand and Mund,
ਚਲਿ ਆਏ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਭਾ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਸਿ ਢਾਰ ॥੧੦੫॥
chal aae nrip sabhaa meh kar leene as dtaar |105|Who came in the king’s court, holding sword and shield in their hands. 105.,
ਅਭਬੰਦਨ ਦੋਨੋ ਕੀਓ ਬੈਠਾਏ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤੀਰਿ ॥
abhabandan dono keeo baitthaae nrip teer |Both of them bowed in obeisance to the king, who asked them to sit near him.,
ਪਾਨ ਦਏ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹਿਓ ਤੁਮ ਦੋਨੋ ਮਮ ਬੀਰ ॥੧੦੬॥
paan de mukh te kahio tum dono mam beer |106|And presenting them the seasoned and folded betel leaf, he uttered thus from his mouth, “Both of you are great heroes.”106.
ਨਿਜ ਕਟ ਕੋ ਫੈਂਟਾ ਦਇਓ ਅਰੁ ਜਮਧਰ ਕਰਵਾਰ ॥
nij katt ko fainttaa deio ar jamadhar karavaar |The king gave them his waist-girdle, dagger and sword (and said),
ਲਿਆਵਹੁ ਚੰਡੀ ਬਾਧ ਕੈ ਨਾਤਰ ਡਾਰੋ ਮਾਰ ॥੧੦੭॥
liaavahu chanddee baadh kai naatar ddaaro maar |107|“Arrest and bring Chandi otherwise kill her.”107.,

ਕੋਪ ਚੜੇ ਰਨਿ ਚੰਡ ਅਉ ਮੁੰਡ ਸੁ ਲੈ ਚਤੁਰੰਗਨ ਸੈਨ ਭਲੀ ॥
kop charre ran chandd aau mundd su lai chaturangan sain bhalee |Chand and Mund, with great ire, marched towards the battlefield, alongwith four types of fine army.,
ਤਬ ਸੇਸ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਧਰਾ ਲਰਜੀ ਜਨੁ ਮਧਿ ਤਰੰਗਨਿ ਨਾਵ ਹਲੀ ॥
tab ses ke sees dharaa larajee jan madh tarangan naav halee |At that time, the earth shook on the head of Sheshnaga like the boat in the stream.,
ਖੁਰ ਬਾਜਨ ਧੂਰ ਉਡੀ ਨਭਿ ਕੋ ਕਵਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਉਪਮਾ ਨ ਟਲੀ ॥
khur baajan dhoor uddee nabh ko kav ke man te upamaa na ttalee |The dust which rose towards the sky with the hooves of the horses, the poet firmly imagined in his mind,
ਭਵ ਭਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਨਿਵਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਧਰਨੀ ਮਨੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਚਲੀ ॥੧੦੮॥
bhav bhaar apaar nivaaran ko dharanee mano braham ke lok chalee |108|That the earth is going towards the city of God in order to supplicate for the removal of its enormous burden.108.,

ਚੰਡ ਮੁੰਡ ਦੈਤਨ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਸਬਨ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਦਲੁ ਲੀਨ ॥
chandd mundd daitan duhoon saban prabal dal leen |Both the demons Chand and Mund took a great army of warriors with them.,
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਜਾਇ ਗਿਰ ਘੇਰਿ ਕੈ ਮਹਾ ਕੁਲਾਹਲ ਕੀਨ ॥੧੦੯॥
nikatt jaae gir gher kai mahaa kulaahal keen |109|On reaching near the mountain, they besieged it and raised great furore.109.,

ਜਬ ਕਾਨ ਸੁਨੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਦੈਤਨ ਕੀ ਤਬ ਕੋਪੁ ਕੀਓ ਗਿਰਜਾ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥
jab kaan sunee dhun daitan kee tab kop keeo girajaa man mai |When the goddess heard the tumult of demons, she was filled with great rage in her mind.,
ਚੜਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁ ਸੰਖ ਬਜਾਇ ਚਲੀ ਸਭਿ ਆਯੁਧ ਧਾਰ ਤਬੈ ਤਨ ਮੈ ॥
charr singh su sankh bajaae chalee sabh aayudh dhaar tabai tan mai |She moved immediately, riding on her lion, blowing her conch and carrying all the weapons on her body.,
ਗਿਰ ਤੇ ਉਤਰੀ ਦਲ ਬੈਰਨ ਕੈ ਪਰ ਯੌ ਉਪਮਾ ਉਪਜੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥
gir te utaree dal bairan kai par yau upamaa upajee man mai |She descended from the mountain on the forces of the enemy and the poet felt,
ਨਭ ਤੇ ਬਹਰੀ ਲਖਿ ਛੂਟ ਪਰੀ ਜਨੁ ਕੂਕ ਕੁਲੰਗਨ ਕੇ ਗਨ ਮੈ ॥੧੧੦॥
nabh te baharee lakh chhoott paree jan kook kulangan ke gan mai |110|That the falcon hath swooped down from the sky on the flock of cranes and sparrows.110.,
ਚੰਡ ਕੁਵੰਡ ਤੇ ਬਾਨ ਛੁਟੇ ਇਕ ਤੇ ਦਸ ਸਉ ਤੇ ਸਹੰਸ ਤਹ ਬਾਢੇ ॥
chandd kuvandd te baan chhutte ik te das sau te sahans tah baadte |One arrow shot from the bow of Chandi increases in number to ten, one hundred and one thousand.,
ਲਛਕੁ ਹੁਇ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਤਨ ਦੈਤਨ ਮਾਝ ਰਹੇ ਗਡਿ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
lachhak hue kar jaae lage tan daitan maajh rahe gadd gaadte |Then becomes one lakh and pierces its target of demons’ bodies and remain fixed there.,
ਕੋ ਕਵਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਸਰਾਹ ਕਰੈ ਅਤਿਸੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਜੁ ਭਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਾਢੇ ॥
ko kav taeh saraah karai atisai upamaa ju bhee bin kaadte |Without extracting those arrows, which poet can praise them and make an appropriate comparison.,
ਫਾਗੁਨਿ ਪਉਨ ਕੇ ਗਉਨ ਭਏ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਤੁ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਰਹੇ ਤਰੁ ਠਾਢੇ ॥੧੧੧॥
faagun paun ke gaun bhe jan paat biheen rahe tar tthaadte |111|It appears that with the blowing of the wind of Phalgun, the trees are standing without the leaves.111.,
ਮੁੰਡ ਲਈ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਹਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
mundd lee karavaar hakaar kai kehar ke ang ang prahaare |The demon Mund held his sword and shouting loudly, the struck many blows on the limbs of the lion.,
ਫਿਰ ਦਈ ਤਨ ਦਉਰ ਕੇ ਗਉਰਿ ਕੋ ਘਾਇਲ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਸੀ ਅੰਗ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
fir dee tan daur ke gaur ko ghaaeil kai nikasee ang dhaare |Then very swiftly, he gave a blow on the body of the goddess, wounding it and then drew the sword out.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਭਰੀ ਥਹਰੈ ਕਰਿ ਦੈਤ ਕੇ ਕੋ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵਿ ਅਉਰ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥
sraun bharee thaharai kar dait ke ko upamaa kav aaur bichaare |Covered with blood, the sword in the hand of the demon is vibrating, what comparison the poet can give except,
ਪਾਨ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਸੋ ਖਾਇ ਅਘਾਇ ਮਨੋ ਜਮੁ ਆਪੁਨੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੧੧੨॥
paan gumaan so khaae aghaae mano jam aapunee jeebh nihaare |112|Yama, the god of death, after eating the betel leaf to his satisfaction, is proudly watching his protruded tongue.112.,
ਘਾਉ ਕੈ ਦੈਤ ਚਲਿਓ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਦੇਵੀ ਨਿਖੰਗ ਤੇ ਬਾਨ ਸੁ ਕਾਢੇ ॥
ghaau kai dait chalio jab hee tab devee nikhang te baan su kaadte |When the demon returned after wounding the goddess, she took out a shaft from her quiver.,
ਕਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਲਉ ਖੈਚ ਕਮਾਨ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਏਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਹੁਇ ਬਾਢੇ ॥
kaan pramaan lau khaich kamaan chalaavat ek anek hue baadte |She pulled the bow upto her ear and let go the arrow, which increased enormously in numbers.,
ਮੁੰਡ ਲੈ ਢਾਲ ਦਈ ਮੁਖ ਓਟਿ ਧਸੇ ਤਿਹ ਮਧਿ ਰਹੇ ਗਡਿ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
mundd lai dtaal dee mukh ott dhase tih madh rahe gadd gaadte |The demon Mund put his shield before face and the arrow are fixed in the shield.,
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਕੂਰਮ ਪੀਠ ਪੈ ਨੀਠ ਭਏ ਸਹਸ ਫਨਿ ਕੇ ਫਨ ਠਾਢੇ ॥੧੧੩॥
maanahu kooram peetth pai neetth bhe sahas fan ke fan tthaadte |113|It seemed that seated on the back of the Tortoise, the hoods of Sheshnaga are standing erect.113.,
ਸਿੰਘਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਰ ਕੈ ਆਗੈ ਭਈ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਬਰ ਚੰਡ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਓ ॥
singheh prer kai aagai bhee kar mai as lai bar chandd sanbhaario |Caressing the lion, the goddess moved forward and holding the sword in hand, she sustained herself,
ਮਾਰਿ ਕੇ ਧੂਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਚਕਚੂਰ ਗਿਰੇ ਅਰਿ ਪੂਰ ਮਹਾ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਓ ॥
maar ke dhoor kee chakachoor gire ar poor mahaa ran paario |And began a terrible war, killing rolling in dust and mashing innumerable warriors of the enemy.,
ਫੇਰਿ ਕੇ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਇਓ ਰਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸੁ ਮੁੰਡ ਕੋ ਮੁੰਡ ਜੁਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
fer ke gher leio ran maeh su mundd ko mundd judaa kar maario |Taking back the lion, she encircled the enemy from the front and gave such a blow that the head of Mund was separated from his body,
ਐਸੇ ਪਰਿਓ ਧਰਿ ਊਪਰ ਜਾਇ ਜਿਉ ਬੇਲਹਿ ਤੇ ਕਦੂਆ ਕਟਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੧੪॥
aaise pario dhar aoopar jaae jiau beleh te kadooaa katt ddaario |114|Which fell on the ground, like the pumpkin cut off from the creeper.114.,
ਸਿੰਘ ਚੜੀ ਮੁਖ ਸੰਖ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਜਿਉ ਘਨ ਮੈ ਤੜਤਾ ਦੁਤਿ ਮੰਡੀ ॥
singh charree mukh sankh bajaavat jiau ghan mai tarrataa dut manddee |The goddess riding on the lion and blowing the conch with her mouth seems like the lightning glistening among dark clouds.,
ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਲਾਇ ਗਿਰਾਇ ਦਇਓ ਅਰਿ ਭਾਜਤ ਦੈਤ ਬਡੇ ਬਰਬੰਡੀ ॥
chakr chalaae giraae deio ar bhaajat dait badde barabanddee |She killed the running superb mighty warriors with her disc.,
ਭੂਤ ਪਿਸਾਚਨਿ ਮਾਸ ਅਹਾਰ ਕਰੈ ਕਿਲਕਾਰ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਕੇ ਝੰਡੀ ॥
bhoot pisaachan maas ahaar karai kilakaar khilaar ke jhanddee |The ghosts and goblins are eating the flesh of the dead, raising loud dhouts.,
ਮੁੰਡ ਕੋ ਮੁੰਡ ਉਤਾਰ ਦਇਓ ਅਬ ਚੰਡ ਕੋ ਹਾਥ ਲਗਾਵਤ ਚੰਡੀ ॥੧੧੫॥
mundd ko mundd utaar deio ab chandd ko haath lagaavat chanddee |115|Removing the head of Mund, now Chandi is preparing to deal with Chand.115.,
ਮੁੰਡ ਮਹਾ ਰਨ ਮਧਿ ਹਨਿਓ ਫਿਰ ਕੈ ਬਰ ਚੰਡਿ ਤਬੈ ਇਹ ਕੀਨੋ ॥

ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਦਈ ਸਭ ਸੈਣ ਸੁ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਚੰਡ ਸੋ ਆਹਵ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
maar bidaar dee sabh sain su chanddikaa chandd so aahav keeno |She killed and destroyed all the forces of the enemy confronting Chand in the war.,
ਲੈ ਬਰਛੀ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਕੈ ਬਰੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੁਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
lai barachhee kar mai ar ko sir kai bar maar judaa kar deeno |Taking her dagger in her hand, she struck it with great force on the head of the enemy and separated it from the body.,
ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਹੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਗਨੇਸ ਕੋ ਰੁੰਡ ਕੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਮੁੰਡ ਬਿਹੀਨੋ ॥੧੧੬॥
