ਸੰਧਿ ਜਰਾ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਸੈਨ ਮਥਿਓ ਅਰੁ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਜਿਹ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਟਾਰਿਓ ॥
sandh jaraa hoo ko sain mathio ar satran ko jih maaneh ttaario |He who had given trouble to the army of Jarasandha and had destroyed the pride of the enemies.
ਤਿਉ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਸਾਧਨ ਕੇ ਪੁਨਿ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਪਾਪਨ ਟਾਰਿਓ ॥੨੪੮੧॥
tiau brij naaeik saadhan ke pun chaahat hai sabh paapan ttaario |2481|The way in which the army of Jarasandh was churned and his pride was shattered, in the same way, Krishna wants to finish all the sins of those women.2481.
ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਕੇ ਰੁਚ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਗੀਤਨ ਗੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo brij naaeik ke ruch so kab sayaam bhanai fun geetan gai hai |The poet is called Shyam, who (sadhak) lovingly sings the songs of Lord Krishna.
ਚਾਤੁਰਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਬੀਚ ਕਬਿਤਨ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਬਨੈ ਹੈ ॥
chaaturataa sang jo har ko jas beech kabitan ke su banai hai |Whosoever will sing the songs of Krishna with love, describe his glory in a nice way in poetry,
ਅਉਰਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਜੋ ਚਰਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
aauran te sun jo charachaa har kee har ko man bheetar dai hai |He who (the person) listens to the discussion of Sri Krishna from others and fixes his mind on Sri Krishna.
ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਧਰਿ ਕੈ ਤਨ ਯਾ ਭਵ ਭੀਤਰ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਐ ਹੈ ॥੨੪੮੨॥
so kab sayaam bhanai dhar kai tan yaa bhav bheetar fer na aai hai |2482|Discuss in his mind about the Lord on listening about Him from others, the poet Shyam says that he will not assume another body and transmigrate.2482.
ਜੋ ਉਪਮਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕੀ ਗਾਇ ਹੈ ਅਉਰ ਕਬਿਤਨ ਬੀਚ ਕਰੈਗੇ ॥
jo upamaa brijanaath kee gaae hai aaur kabitan beech karaige |One who sings the likeness of Sri Krishna and composes in poetry.
ਪਾਪਨ ਕੀ ਤੇਊ ਪਾਵਕ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਜਰੈਗੇ ॥
paapan kee teaoo paavak mai kab sayaam bhanai kabahoon na jaraige |Those who will sing the praises of Krishna and narrate him in poetry, will never burn in the fire of sin
ਚਿੰਤ ਸਭੈ ਮਿਟ ਹੈ ਜੁ ਰਹੀ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਅਘ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਟਰੈਗੇ ॥
chint sabhai mitt hai ju rahee chhin mai tin ke agh brind ttaraige |All their anxieties will be destroyed and all their sins will end collectively
ਜੇ ਨਰ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਕੇ ਪਰਸੇ ਪਗ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਦੇਹ ਧਰੈਗੇ ॥੨੪੮੩॥
je nar sayaam joo ke parase pag te nar fer na deh dharaige |2483|That person, who will touch the feet of Krishna, he will never assume the body again.2483.
ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਕੋ ਰੁਚਿ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo brij naaeik ko ruch so kab sayaam bhanai fun jaap japai hai |The poet Shyam says, then those (persons) who chant Sri Krishna with interest.
ਜੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਬਹੁ ਮੰਗਨ ਲੋਗਨ ਕਉ ਧਨ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo tih ke hit kai man mai bahu mangan logan kau dhan dai hai |He, who will repeat the name of Krishna with love, who will give wealth etc. to the person remembering him,
ਜੋ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਭੈ ਘਰ ਕੇ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਇਨ ਕੇ ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo taj kaaj sabhai ghar ke tih paaein ke chit bheetar dai hai |Those (persons) who give up all the household chores and place his feet in the chit (place).
ਭੀਤਰ ਤੇ ਅਬ ਯਾ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਅਘ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦਨ ਬੀਰ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੨੪੮੪॥
bheetar te ab yaa jag ke agh brindan beer bidaa kar jai hai |2484|Who will absorb his mind in the feet of Krishna, abandoning all the tasks of the householder, then all the sins of the world will bid adieu to his mind.2484.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਓ ਨ ਕੀਓ ਬਹੁਤੋ ਤਪ ਕਸਟ ਸਹਿਓ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਤਾਯੋ ॥
prem keeo na keeo bahuto tap kasatt sahio tan ko at taayo |Though one was not absorbed in love, he endured many suffering on his body and performed austerities
ਕਾਸੀ ਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਪੜਿਓ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਬਹੁ ਬੇਦਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
kaasee mai jaae parrio at hee bahu bedan ko kar saar na aayo |Though he received instructions about eh recitation of the Vedas at Kashi, but did not comprehend its essence
ਦਾਨ ਦੀਏ ਬਸਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸਭੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਬ ਗਵਾਯੋ ॥
daan dee bas hvai gayo sayaam sabhai apano tin darab gavaayo |(Those who) gave alms, (has) Sri Krishna become their abode, (no) all of them have lost their wealth.
ਅੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਕੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜਿਹ ਹੇਤ ਕੀਓ ਤਿਨ ਹੂ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੨੪੮੫॥
antr kee ruch kai har siau jih het keeo tin hoo har paayo |2485|Though thinking this he gave in charity all his wealth that the Lord will be pleased, but he who has loved the Lord from the core of his heart, he could only realise the Lord.2485.
ਕਾ ਭਯੋ ਜੋ ਬਕ ਲੋਚਨ ਮੂੰਦ ਕੈ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਜਗ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
kaa bhayo jo bak lochan moond kai baitth rahio jag bhekh dikhaae |What then, if some crane-like devotee had been performing heresy by closing his eyes and showing it to the people
ਮੀਨ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਜਲ ਨ੍ਰਹਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਤੁ ਕਹਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਮੋ ਹਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
meen firio jal nrahaat sadaa tu kahaa tih ke kar mo har aae |Someone might have been taking bath at all the pilgrim-stations like a fish, has he ever been able to realise the Lord?
ਦਾਦੁਰ ਜੋ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨਿ ਰਟੈ ਸੁ ਬਿਹੰਗ ਉਡੈ ਤਨਿ ਪੰਖ ਲਗਾਏ ॥
daadur jo din rain rattai su bihang uddai tan pankh lagaae |(Like) a frog that keeps talking day and night, or (Like) a bird that flies with wings on its body.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਹੂ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਰਿਝਾਏ ॥੨੪੮੬॥
sayaam bhanai ih sant sabhaa bin prem kahoo brijanaath rijhaae |2486|The frogs croak day and night, the birds always fly, but the poet Shyam says that inspite of repeating (the Name) and running hither and thither, none has been able to please Krishna without love.2486.
ਲਾਲਚ ਜੋ ਧਨ ਕੇ ਕਿਨਹੂ ਜੁ ਪੈ ਗਾਇ ਭਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੀਤ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
laalach jo dhan ke kinahoo ju pai gaae bhalai prabh geet sunaayo |If someone is greedy for money and has recited the Lord's songs well to someone.
ਨਾਚ ਨਚਿਓ ਨ ਖਚਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਕ ਅਲੋਕ ਕੋ ਪੈਡ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
naach nachio na khachio tih mai har lok alok ko paidd na paayo |He, who eulogises the Lord, coveting for wealth, and dances without loving Him, he could not realise the path leading towards the Lord
ਹਾਸ ਕਰਿਓ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਆਪੁਨੋ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਹੂ ਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਕੋ ਤਤੁ ਜਨਾਯੋ ॥
haas kario jag mai aapuno supane hoo na giaan ko tat janaayo |He, who passed all his life in mere sporting, and did not know the essence of knowledge, he also could not realise the Lord
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੇ ਮੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਆਯੋ ॥੨੪੮੭॥
prem binaa kab sayaam bhanai kar kaahoo ke mai brij naaeik aayo |2487|How can one realise Lord Krishna, without loving Him?2487.
ਹਾਰਿ ਚਲੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਪਨੇ ਕੋ ਬਨ ਮੋ ਬਹੁਤੋ ਤਿਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਲਗਾਏ ॥
haar chale grih aapane ko ban mo bahuto tin dhiaan lagaae |Those who meditate in the forest, they ultimately, getting tired, come back to their homes
ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਕਥਾ ਮੁਨਿ ਖੋਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਥਿ ਨ ਆਏ ॥
sidh samaadh agaadh kathaa mun khoj rahe har haath na aae |The adepts and the sages have been seeking the Lord through contemplation, but that Lord could not be realised by anyone
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਸਭ ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਮਤਿ ਯੌ ਠਹਰਾਏ ॥
sayaam bhanai sabh bed kateban santan ke mat yau tthaharaae |(Poet) Shyam says that this is what is established in the opinion of all Vedas, books and saints.
ਭਾਖਤ ਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਹ ਸ੍ਰੀਪਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੨੪੮੮॥
bhaakhat hai kab sant suno jih prem kee tih sreepat paae |2488|All the Vedas, Katebs (Semitic Scriptures) and the saints say this that whosoever has loved the Lord, he has realized Him.2488.
ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਕੋ ਪੂਤ ਹੌ ਬਾਮਨ ਕੋ ਨਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਪੁ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਜੁ ਕਰੋ ॥
chhatree ko poot hau baaman ko neh kai tap aavat hai ju karo |I am the son of a Kshatriya and not of a Brahmin who may instruct for performing severe austerities
ਅਰੁ ਅਉਰ ਜੰਜਾਰ ਜਿਤੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਹਾ ਚਿਤ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਧਰੋ ॥
ar aaur janjaar jito grih ko tuhi tiaag kahaa chit taa mai dharo |How can I absorb myself in the embarrassments of the world by leaving you
ਅਬ ਰੀਝਿ ਕੈ ਦੇਹੁ ਵਹੈ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਜੋਊ ਹਉ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਕਰੋ ॥
ab reejh kai dehu vahai ham kau joaoo hau binatee kar jor karo |Whatever request I am making with my folded hands, O Lord!
ਜਬ ਆਉ ਕੀ ਅਉਧ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਬਨੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤਬ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੋ ॥੨੪੮੯॥
jab aau kee aaudh nidaan banai at hee ran mai tab joojh maro |2489|Kindly be graceful and bestow this boon on me that when ever my end comes, then I may die fighting in the battlefield.2489.

ਸਤ੍ਰਹ ਸੈ ਪੈਤਾਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਵਨ ਸੁਦਿ ਥਿਤਿ ਦੀਪ ॥
satrah sai paitaal meh saavan sud thit deep |In the year 1745 of the Vikrami era in the Sudi aspect of the moon in the month of Sawan,
ਨਗਰ ਪਾਵਟਾ ਸੁਭ ਕਰਨ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਬਹੈ ਸਮੀਪ ॥੨੪੯੦॥
nagar paavattaa subh karan jamunaa bahai sameep |2490|In the town of Paonta at the auspicious hour, on banks of the flowing Yamuna, (this work has been completed).2490.
ਦਸਮ ਕਥਾ ਭਾਗੌਤ ਕੀ ਭਾਖਾ ਕਰੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
dasam kathaa bhaagauat kee bhaakhaa karee banaae |I have composed the discourse of the tenth part (Skandh) of Bhagavat in the vernacular
ਅਵਰ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਰਮ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਚਾਇ ॥੨੪੯੧॥
avar baasanaa naeh prabh dharam judh ke chaae |2491|O Lord! I have no other desire and have only the zeal for the war fought on the basis of righteousness.2491.

ਧੰਨਿ ਜੀਓ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਜੁਧੁ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥
dhan jeeo tih ko jag mai mukh te har chit mai judh bichaarai |Bravo to the soul of that person, who remembers the Lord through his mouth and reflects in his mind about the war of righteousness
ਦੇਹ ਅਨਿਤ ਨ ਨਿਤ ਰਹੈ ਜਸੁ ਨਾਵ ਚੜੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਾਰੈ ॥
deh anit na nit rahai jas naav charrai bhav saagar taarai |Who considers this body the war of righteousness, who considers this body as transient, ascends the boat of Lords’ praise a
ਧੀਰਜ ਧਾਮ ਬਨਾਇ ਇਹੈ ਤਨ ਬੁਧਿ ਸੁ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਿਉ ਉਜੀਆਰੈ ॥
dheeraj dhaam banaae ihai tan budh su deepak jiau ujeeaarai |Make this body a house of patience and kindle the intellect like a lamp (in it).
ਗਿਆਨਹਿ ਕੀ ਬਢਨੀ ਮਨਹੁ ਹਾਥ ਲੈ ਕਾਤਰਤਾ ਕੁਤਵਾਰ ਬੁਹਾਰੈ ॥੨੪੯੨॥
giaaneh kee badtanee manahu haath lai kaatarataa kutavaar buhaarai |2492|Who makes this body as the abode of forbearance and enlightens it with the lamp of intellect and who taking the broom of knowledge in his hand sweeps away the rubbish of cowardice.2492.
