ਖੂਕ ਮਲਹਾਰੀ ਗਜ ਗਦਹਾ ਬਿਭੂਤਧਾਰੀ ਗਿਦੂਆ ਮਸਾਨ ਬਾਸ ਕਰਿਓ ਈ ਕਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
khook malahaaree gaj gadahaa bibhootadhaaree gidooaa masaan baas kario ee karat hain |If the Lord is realized by eating filth, by besmearing the body with ashes and by residing in he cremation-ground, then the hog eats filth, the elephant and ass get their bodies filled with ashes and the bager resides in the cremation-ground.
ਘੁਘੂ ਮਟ ਬਾਸੀ ਲਗੇ ਡੋਲਤ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤਰਵਰ ਸਦੀਵ ਮੋਨ ਸਾਧੇ ਈ ਮਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
ghughoo matt baasee lage ddolat udaasee mrig taravar sadeev mon saadhe ee marat hain |If the Lord meets in the cloister of mendicants, by wandering like a stoic and abiding in silence, then the owl lives in the cloister of mendicants, the deer wanders like a stoic and the tree abides in silence till death.
ਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਸਧਯਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਹੀਜ ਕੀ ਬਡਯਾ ਦੇਤ ਬੰਦਰਾ ਸਦੀਵ ਪਾਇ ਨਾਗੇ ਹੀ ਫਿਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
bind ke sadhayaa taeh heej kee baddayaa det bandaraa sadeev paae naage hee firat hain |If the Lord is realized by restraining the emission of semen and by wandering with bare feet, then a eunuch may be eulogized for restraining the emission of semen and the monkey always wanders with bare feet.
ਅੰਗਨਾ ਅਧੀਨ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਏਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਕੇ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਛੀਨ ਕੈਸੇ ਕੈ ਤਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥੭੧॥
anganaa adheen kaam krodh mai prabeen ek giaan ke biheen chheen kaise kai tarat hain |1|71|One who is under the control of a woman and whou is active in lust and anger and also who is ignorant of the Knowledge of the ONE LORD, how can such person ferry across the world-ocean? 1.71.
ਭੂਤ ਬਨਚਾਰੀ ਛਿਤ ਛਉਨਾ ਸਭੈ ਦੂਧਾਧਾਰੀ ਪਉਨ ਕੇ ਅਹਾਰੀ ਸੁ ਭੁਜੰਗ ਜਾਨੀਅਤੁ ਹੈਂ ॥
bhoot banachaaree chhit chhaunaa sabhai doodhaadhaaree paun ke ahaaree su bhujang jaaneeat hain |If the Lord is realized by wandering in the forest, by drinking only the milk and by subsisting on air, then the ghost wanders in the forest, all the infants live on milk and the serpents subsist on air.
ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਕੇ ਭਛਯਾ ਧਨ ਲੋਭ ਕੇ ਤਜਯਾ ਤੇ ਤੋ ਗਊਅਨ ਕੇ ਜਯਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਯਾ ਮਾਨੀਅਤੁ ਹੈਂ ॥
trin ke bhachhayaa dhan lobh ke tajayaa te to gaooan ke jayaa brikhabhayaa maaneeat hain |If the Lord meets by eating grass and forsaking the gred of wealth, then the Bulls, the young ones of cows do that.
ਨਭ ਕੇ ਉਡਯਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਪੰਛੀ ਕੀ ਬਡਯਾ ਦੇਤ ਬਗੁਲਾ ਬਿੜਾਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਕ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਠਾਨੀਅਤੁ ਹੈਂ ॥
nabh ke uddayaa taeh panchhee kee baddayaa det bagulaa birraal brik dhiaanee tthaaneeat hain |If the Lord is realized by flying in the sky and by closing the eyes in meditation, then the birds fly in the sky and those who close their eyes in meditation are considered like crane, cat and wolf.
ਜੇਤੋ ਬਡੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤਿਨੋ ਜਾਨੀ ਪੈ ਬਖਾਨੀ ਨਾਹਿ ਐਸੇ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਪੰਚ ਮਨ ਭੂਲ ਆਨੀਅਤੁ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥੭੨॥
jeto badde giaanee tino jaanee pai bakhaanee naeh aaise na prapanch man bhool aaneeat hain |2|72|All the Knowers of Brahman know the reality of these imposters, but I have not related it never bring in your mind such deceitful thoughts even by mistake. 2.72.
ਭੂਮ ਕੇ ਬਸਯਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਭੂਚਰੀ ਕੇ ਜਯਾ ਕਹੈ ਨਭ ਕੇ ਉਡਯਾ ਸੋ ਚਿਰਯਾ ਕੈ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ॥
bhoom ke basayaa taeh bhoocharee ke jayaa kahai nabh ke uddayaa so chirayaa kai bakhaaneeai |He who lives on the earth should be called the young one of white ant and those who fly in the sky may be called sparrows.
ਫਲ ਕੇ ਭਛਯਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਾਂਦਰੀ ਕੇ ਜਯਾ ਕਹੈ ਆਦਿਸ ਫਿਰਯਾ ਤੇ ਤੋ ਭੂਤ ਕੈ ਪਛਾਨੀਐ ॥
fal ke bhachhayaa taeh baandaree ke jayaa kahai aadis firayaa te to bhoot kai pachhaaneeai |They, who eat fruit may be called the young ones of monkeys, those who wander invisibly, may be considered as ghosts.
ਜਲ ਕੇ ਤਰਯਾ ਕੋ ਗੰਗੇਰੀ ਸੀ ਕਹਤ ਜਗ ਆਗ ਕੇ ਭਛਯਾ ਸੁ ਚਕੋਰ ਸਮ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥
jal ke tarayaa ko gangeree see kahat jag aag ke bhachhayaa su chakor sam maaneeai |One, who swims on water is called water-fly by the world one, who eats fire, may be considered like Chakor (redlegged partridge).
ਸੂਰਜ ਸਿਵਯਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਕੌਲ ਕੀ ਬਡਾਈ ਦੇਤ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਸਿਵਯਾ ਕੌ ਕਵੀ ਕੈ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੀਐ ॥੩॥੭੩॥
sooraj sivayaa taeh kaual kee baddaaee det chandramaa sivayaa kau kavee kai pahichaaneeai |3|73|One who worships the sun, may be symbolized as lotus and one, who worships the moon may be recognized as water-lily (The lotus blooms on seeing the sun and the water-lily blossoms on seeing the moon). 3.73.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਛ ਮਛ ਤਿੰਦੂਆ ਕਹਤ ਸਭ ਕਉਲ ਨਾਭ ਕਉਲ ਜਿਹ ਤਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਰਹਤੁ ਹੈਂ ॥

ਮੂੜ੍ਹ ਰੂੜ੍ਹ ਪੀਟਤ ਨ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਤਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਦ ਪਾਵੈ ਪੂਜਤ ਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਰਹੀਅਤੁ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥੭੪॥
moorrh roorrh peettat na goorrhataa ko bhed paavai poojat na taeh jaa ke raakhe raheeat hain |4|74|The foolish people wail and weep. But do not know the profound secret, therefore they do not worship Him, who protects our life. 4.74.
ਬਿਸ੍ਵਪਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਕਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਿਆਲ ਬੈਰੀ ਸਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਪਾਲ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
bisvapaal jagat kaal deen diaal bairee saal sadaa pratapaal jam jaal te rahat hain |The Sustainer and Destroyer of the Universe is Benevolent towards the poor, tortures the enemies, preserves ever and is without the snare of death.
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਟਾਧਾਰੀ ਸਤੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਬਡੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਕਾਜ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸ ਦੇਹ ਪੈ ਸਹਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
jogee jattaadhaaree satee saache badde brahamachaaree dhiaan kaaj bhookh piaas deh pai sahat hain |The Yogis, hermits with matted locks, true donors and great celibates, for a Sight of Him, endure hunger and thirst on their bodies.
ਨਿਉਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਜਲ ਹੋਮ ਪਾਵਕ ਪਵਨ ਹੋਮ ਅਧੋ ਮੁਖ ਏਕ ਪਾਇ ਠਾਢੇ ਨ ਬਹਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
niaulee karam jal hom paavak pavan hom adho mukh ek paae tthaadte na bahat hain |For a Sight of Him, the intestines are purged, offerings are made to water, fire and air, austerities are performed with face upside down and standing on a single foot.
ਮਾਨਵ ਫਨਿੰਦ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਭੇਦ ਬੇਦ ਔ ਕਤੇਬ ਨੇਤ ਨੇਤ ਕੈ ਕਹਤ ਹੈਂ ॥੫॥੭੫॥
maanav fanind dev daanav na paavai bhed bed aau kateb net net kai kahat hain |5|75|The men, Sheshanaga, gods and demons have not been able to know His Secret and the Vedas and Katebs (Semitic Scriptures) speak of Him as “Neti, Neti” (Not this, Not this) and Infinite. 5.75.
ਨਾਚਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਮੋਰ ਬਾਦਰ ਕਰਤ ਘੋਰ ਦਾਮਨੀ ਅਨੇਕ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿਓ ਈ ਕਰਤ ਹੈ ॥
naachat firat mor baadar karat ghor daamanee anek bhaau kario ee karat hai |If the Lord is realized by devotional dancing, then the peacocks dance with the thundering of the clouds and if the Lord gets pleased on seeing the devotion through friendliness, then the lightning performs it by various flashes.
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਤੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਨ ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਤਪਤ ਤੇਜ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਭਵ ਭੂਮ ਕੋ ਭਰਤ ਹੈ ॥
chandramaa te seetal na sooraj te tapat tej indr so na raajaa bhav bhoom ko bharat hai |If the Lord meets by adopting coolness and serenity, then there is none cooler than the moon if the Lord meets by the endurance of heat, then none is hotter than the sun, and if the Lord is realized by the munificence, then none is more munificent than In
ਸਿਵ ਸੇ ਤਪਸੀ ਆਦਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਸੇ ਨ ਬੇਦਚਾਰੀ ਸਨਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਸੀ ਤਪਸਿਆ ਨ ਅਨਤ ਹੈ ॥
siv se tapasee aad brahamaa se na bedachaaree sanat kumaar see tapasiaa na anat hai |If the Lord is realised by the practice of austerities, then none is more austere than god Shiva if the Lord meets by the recitation of Vedas, then none is more conversant with the Vedas than the god Brahma: there is also no great performer of asceticism
ਗਿਆਨ ਕੇ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਕੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਸਦਾ ਜੁਗਨ ਕੀ ਚਉਕਰੀ ਫਿਰਾਏ ਈ ਫਿਰਤ ਹੈ ॥੬॥੭੬॥
giaan ke biheen kaal faas ke adheen sadaa jugan kee chaukaree firaae ee firat hai |6|76|The persons without the Knowledge of the Lord, entrapped in the snare of death always transmigrate in all the four ages. 6.76.
ਏਕ ਸਿਵ ਭਏ ਏਕ ਗਏ ਏਕ ਫੇਰ ਭਏ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਕੇ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭੀ ਅਨੇਕ ਹੈਂ ॥
ek siv bhe ek ge ek fer bhe raamachandr krisan ke avataar bhee anek hain |There was one Shiva, who passed away and another one came into being there are many incarnations of Ramchandra and Krishna.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਰੁ ਬਿਸਨ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੇਦ ਔ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕੇਤੇ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਮੂਹਨ ਕੈ ਹੁਇ ਹੁਇ ਬਿਤਏ ਹੈਂ ॥
brahamaa ar bisan kete bed aau puraan kete sinmrit samoohan kai hue hue bite hain |There are many Brahmas and Vishnus, there are many Vedas and Puranas, there have been the authors of all the Smritis, who created their works and passed away.
ਮੋਨਦੀ ਮਦਾਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਅਸੁਨੀ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਅੰਸਾ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਬਸ ਭਏ ਹੈਂ ॥
monadee madaar kete asunee kumaar kete ansaa avataar kete kaal bas bhe hain |Many religious leaders, many chieftains of clans, many Ashwani Kumars and many degrees of incarnations, they had all been subject to death.
ਪੀਰ ਔ ਪਿਕਾਂਬਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਗਨੇ ਨ ਪਰਤ ਏਤੇ ਭੂਮ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਹੁਇ ਕੈ ਫੇਰਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਏ ਹੈਂ ॥੭॥੭੭॥
peer aau pikaanbar kete gane na parat ete bhoom hee te hue kai fer bhoom hee mile hain |7|77|Many Muslim preceptors (Pirs) and Prophets, who cannot be count ed, they were born out of the earth, ultimately merged in the earth. 7.77.
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ਬਡੇ ਬਡੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਕਈ ਕੋਸ ਲੌ ਚਲਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
jogee jatee brahamachaaree badde badde chhatradhaaree chhatr hee kee chhaaeaa kee kos lau chalat hain |The Yougis, celibates and students observing celibacy, many great sovereigns, who walk several miles under the shade of canopy.
ਬਡੇ ਬਡੇ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਬਿਤ ਫਿਰਤਿ ਦੇਸ ਬਡੇ ਬਡੇ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੇ ਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੋ ਦਲਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
badde badde raajan ke daabit firat des badde badde raajan ke drap ko dalat hain |Who conquer the countries of many great kings and bruise their ego.
ਮਾਨ ਸੇ ਮਹੀਪ ਔ ਦਿਲੀਪ ਕੈਸੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਬਡੋ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਭੁਜ ਦੰਡ ਕੋ ਕਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥
maan se maheep aau dileep kaise chhatradhaaree baddo abhimaan bhuj dandd ko karat hain |The Sovereign like Mandhata and the Canopied Sovereign like Dalip, who were proud of their mightly forces.
ਦਾਰਾ ਸੇ ਦਿਲੀਸਰ ਦ੍ਰੁਜੋਧਨ ਸੇ ਮਾਨਧਾਰੀ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗ ਭੂਮਿ ਅੰਤ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਤ ਹੈਂ ॥੮॥੭੮॥
daaraa se dileesar drujodhan se maanadhaaree bhog bhog bhoom ant bhoom mai milat hain |8|78|The emperor like Darius and the great egoist like Duryodhana, after enjoying the earthly pleasures, finally merged in the earth.8.78.
ਸਿਜਦੇ ਕਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਤੋਪਚੀ ਕਪਟ ਭੇਸ ਪੋਸਤੀ ਅਨੇਕ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਸੀਸ ਕੌ ॥
sijade kare anek topachee kapatt bhes posatee anek daa nivaavat hai sees kau |If the Lord is pleased by prostrating before Him, then the gunner full of deceit bows his head several times while igniting the gun and the addict acts in the same manner in intoxication.
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਮਲ ਜੌ ਪੈ ਕਾਢਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਡੰਡ ਸੋ ਤੌ ਨ ਡੰਡੌਤ ਅਸਟਾਂਗ ਅਥਤੀਸ ਕੌ ॥
kahaa bheio mal jau pai kaadtat anek ddandd so tau na ddanddauat asattaang athatees kau |What, then, if the wrestler bends his body several times during his rehearsal of exercises, but that is not the prostration of eight parts of the body.
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਓ ਰੋਗੀ ਜੌ ਪੈ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਰਹਿਓ ਉਰਧ ਮੁਖ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਨ ਮੂੰਡ ਨਿਹਰਾਇਓ ਆਦਿ ਈਸ ਕੌ ॥
kahaa bheio rogee jau pai ddaario rahio uradh mukh man te na moondd niharaaeio aad ees kau |What, then, if the patient lies down with his face upwards, he has not bowed his head before the Primal Lord with single-mindedness.
ਕਾਮਨਾ ਅਧੀਨ ਸਦਾ ਦਾਮਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਏਕ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਕੌ ॥੯॥੭੯॥
kaamanaa adheen sadaa daamanaa prabeen ek bhaavanaa biheen kaise paavai jagadees kau |9|79|But one always subservient to desire and active in telling the beads of the rosary, and also without faith, how can he realize the Lord of the world? 9.79.
ਸੀਸ ਪਟਕਤ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਨ ਮੈ ਖਜੂਰਾ ਧਸੈ ਮੂੰਡ ਛਟਕਤ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਸੋਕ ਸੌ ॥
sees pattakat jaa ke kaan mai khajooraa dhasai moondd chhattakat mitr putr hoon ke sok sau |If the Lord is realized by knocking the head, then that person repeatedly knocks his head, in whose ear the centipede enters and if the Lord meets by beating the head, then one beats his head in grief over the death of friends or sons.
ਆਕ ਕੋ ਚਰਯਾ ਫਲ ਫੂਲ ਕੋ ਭਛਯਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਨ ਕੌ ਭ੍ਰਮਯਾ ਔਰ ਦੂਸਰੋ ਨ ਬੋਕ ਸੌ ॥
aak ko charayaa fal fool ko bhachhayaa sadaa ban kau bhramayaa aauar doosaro na bok sau |If the Lord is realized by wandering in the forest, then there is none other like the he-goat, who grazes the akk (Calotropis Procera), eats the flowers and fruit and always wanders in the forest.
ਕਹਾ ਭਯੋ ਭੇਡ ਜੋ ਘਸਤ ਸੀਸ ਬ੍ਰਿਛਨ ਸੋਂ ਮਾਟੀ ਕੇ ਭਛਯਾ ਬੋਲ ਪੂਛ ਲੀਜੈ ਜੋਕ ਸੌ ॥
kahaa bhayo bhedd jo ghasat sees brichhan son maattee ke bhachhayaa bol poochh leejai jok sau |If the Lord meets by rubbing the head with the trees in order to remove drowsiness, then the sheep always rubs its head with the trees and if the Lord meets by eating the earth, then you can ask the leech.
ਕਾਮਨਾ ਅਧੀਨ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਏਕ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਕੈਸੇ ਭੇਟੈ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਸੌ ॥੧੦॥੮੦॥
kaamanaa adheen kaam krodh main prabeen ek bhaavanaa biheen kaise bhettai paralok sau |10|80|How can one meet the Lord in the next world, who is subservient to desire, active in lust and anger and without faith? 10.80.
ਨਾਚਿਓ ਈ ਕਰਤ ਮੋਰ ਦਾਦਰ ਕਰਤ ਸੋਰ ਸਦਾ ਘਨਘੋਰ ਘਨ ਕਰਿਓ ਈ ਕਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥

ਪਾਹਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਏਕ ਠਉਰ ਬਾਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਕਾਗ ਅਉਰ ਚੀਲ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਬਿਚਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥

ਗਿਆਨ ਕੇ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਮਹਾ ਦਾਨ ਮੈ ਨ ਹੂਜੈ ਲੀਨ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਯਕੀਨ ਦੀਨ ਕੈਸੇ ਕੈ ਤਰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥੧੧॥੮੧॥
