ਤੀਜਨ ਨੈਨ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਗਿਰਾਵਤ ਚਉਥਨ ਚੌਪ ਚਪੇਟਨ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
teejan nain dikhaae giraavat chauthan chauap chapettan maarai |He is causing the third one to fall down by showing him the outrageous eyes, and the fourth is being killed with the slap of his blow
ਚੀਰ ਦਏ ਅਰਿ ਕੇ ਉਰਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੂਰਨ ਕੇ ਅੰਗਿ ਅੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰੈ ॥
cheer de ar ke ur sree har sooran ke ang ang prachaarai |By inflicting blows on the limbs of warriors, Krishna has ripped their hearts
ਧੀਰ ਤਹਾ ਭਟ ਕਉਨ ਧਰੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਜਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਓਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੈ ॥੧੭੯੫॥
dheer tahaa bhatt kaun dharai jadubeer jabai tih or sidhaarai |1795|In any direction, wherever he goes, the power of endurance of all the warriors is lost.1795.
ਰੋਸ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਦੁਜਨ ਸੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥
ros bhariyo jab hee brij naaeik dujan sain nihaar parai |When Lord Krishna, filled with anger, leaves after seeing the enemy's army,
ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਧੌ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕਹੋ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਜਗਿ ਕਉਨ ਬੀਓ ਭਟ ਧੀਰ ਧਰੈ ॥
tum hoon dhau bichaar kaho chit mai jag kaun beeo bhatt dheer dharai |When the hero of Braja looks towards the enemy’s army angrily, then you can tell thoughtfully as to who is the other such warrior, who can keep his power of endurance
ਜੋਊ ਸਾਹਸ ਕੈ ਸਬ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਨੈਕੁ ਅਰੈ ॥
joaoo saahas kai sab aayudh lai sang sayaam ke aae kai naik arai |Shyam Kavi says, "Whoever dares and takes all the weapons and stands with Sri Krishna,
ਤਿਹ ਕਉ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਤਿਹੀ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਬਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਰੈ ॥੧੭੯੬॥
tih kau jadubeer tihee chhin mai kab sayaam kahai bin praan karai |1796|Any warrior who tries courageously to fight with Krishna even slightly, he is killed by Krishna in an instant.1796.
ਜੋ ਭਟ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਸਬੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਇਕ ਪੈ ਅਤਿ ਐਡੋ ਸੁ ਆਵੈ ॥
jo bhatt sasatr sanbhaar sabai brijanaaeik pai at aaiddo su aavai |(The poet) Shyam says, the warrior who takes all the armor and mounts on Sri Krishna;
ਜੋ ਕੋਊ ਦੂਰ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਨਿ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਪੈ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥
jo koaoo door te sayaam bhanai dhan taan ke sayaam pai baan chalaavai |Any warrior, who taking up his weapons comes proudly in front of Krishna and discharges his arrows by pulling his bow from a distance,
ਜੋ ਅਰਿ ਆਇ ਸਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਦੂਰ ਤੇ ਠਾਢੇ ਈ ਗਾਲ ਬਜਾਵੈ ॥
jo ar aae sakai nahee saamuhe door te tthaadte ee gaal bajaavai |The one who can't come forward to the enemy and stands far away and barks;
ਤਾਹਿ ਕਉ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਚਿਤੈ ਸਰ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਪਰਲੋਕਿ ਪਠਾਵੈ ॥੧੭੯੭॥
taeh kau sree brijanaath chitai sar ek hee so paralok patthaavai |1797|And talks contemptuously and does not come near him, Krishna seeing him with his far-off sight, is sending him to the next world with a single arrow..1797.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਦੇਖ ਦਸਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਬਡੇਈ ਬੀਰ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਐਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਰਿਸਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
dekh dasaa tin kee baddeee beer satran ke raam bhanai aaisee bhaat chit mai risaat hai |Seeing them in such a plight, the great warriors on the enemy’s side, are getting furious
ਲੀਨੇ ਕਰਵਾਰਿ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਉਚਾਰ ਸਮੁਹਾਇ ਆਇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਸੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਹੀ ਮਚਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
leene karavaar maar maar hee uchaar samuhaae aae sayaam joo so judh hee machaat hai |They, in fury, shouting “kill, kill”, are fighting with Krishna
ਏਕ ਨਿਜਕਾਤ ਨਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਡਰਾਤ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ਘਾਇ ਖਾਤ ਮਨੋ ਸਬੈ ਏਕ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ ॥
ek nijakaat nahee man mai ddaraat musakaae ghaae khaat mano sabai ek jaat hai |Many of them, in fear, are not coming near and are receiving wounds smilingly from a distance
ਗਾਲਹਿ ਬਜਾਤ ਏਕ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਤ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਾਤ ਤੇ ਵੇ ਸੁਰਗਿ ਸਿਧਾਤ ਹੈ ॥੧੭੯੮॥
gaaleh bajaat ek harakh badtaat chhatr dharam karaat te ve surag sidhaat hai |1798|Many of them are playing on their cheeks from a distance, but several of them, following the duties of Kshatriyas, are leaving for heaven.1798.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਇਕ ਕੇ ਬਲ ਲਾਇਕ ਜੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਊ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਆਵੈ ॥
brijanaaeik ke bal laaeik je kab sayaam kahai soaoo saamuhe aavai |The poet says Shyam, who is equal to the strength of Sri Krishna, comes forward
ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਭਰੇ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਵੈ ॥
baan kamaan kripaan gadaa geh krudh bhare at judh machaavai |Those who are capable of fighting with Krishna, they are coming before him and catching hold of bow, arrows, swords, maces etc., they are waging a dreadful war
ਏਕ ਪਰੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਰਾ ਇਕ ਸੀਸ ਕਟੇ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਹਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
ek parai bin praan dharaa ik sees katte ran bhoomeh dhaavai |Someone becoming lifeless is falling on the ground and someone is roaming in the battlefield, though his head has been chopped
ਏਕਨ ਕੀ ਬਰ ਲੋਥ ਪਰੀ ਕਰ ਸੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਅਰਿ ਓਰਿ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥੧੭੯੯॥
ekan kee bar loth paree kar so geh kai ar or chalaavai |1799|Someone catching the lying corpses, is throwing it towards the enemy.1799.
ਸੂਰ ਸੁ ਏਕ ਹਨੈ ਤਹ ਬਾਜ ਤਹਾ ਇਕ ਬੀਰ ਬਡੇ ਗਜ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
soor su ek hanai tah baaj tahaa ik beer badde gaj maarai |The warriors have killed horses, elephants and warriors
ਏਕ ਰਥੀ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹਨੈ ਇਕ ਪਾਇਕ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ਬੀਰ ਪਛਾਰੈ ॥
ek rathee balavaan hanai ik paaeik maar kai beer pachhaarai |Many powerful chariot-riders and soldiers on foot have been killed
ਏਕ ਭਜੇ ਲਖਿ ਆਹਵ ਕਉ ਇਕ ਘਾਇਲ ਘਾਇਲ ਕੋ ਲਲਕਾਰੈ ॥
ek bhaje lakh aahav kau ik ghaaeil ghaaeil ko lalakaarai |Many of them have fled away, seeing the ferocity of war
ਏਕ ਲਰੈ ਨ ਡਰੈ ਘਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੋ ਧਾਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕੇ ਘਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੈ ॥੧੮੦੦॥
ek larai na ddarai ghan sayaam ko dhaae kripaan ke ghaae prahaarai |1800|Many of the wounded are challenging the wounded ones, many are fighting fearlessly and running here and there, are striking blows with their swords.1800.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਘੇਰਿ ਲੀਓ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਹਰਿ ਬੀਰਨਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ॥
gher leeo chahoon or har beeran sasatr sanbhaar |The (enemy) warriors have taken up armor and surrounded (inj) Sri Krishna from all four sides.
ਬਾਰਿ ਖੇਤ ਜਿਉ ਛਾਪ ਨਗ ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਜਿਉ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਿ ॥੧੮੦੧॥
baar khet jiau chhaap nag rav sas jiau parivaar |1801|The warriors holding their weapons, have surrounded Krishna from all the four sides like the fence surrounding the field, the ring surrounding the studded precious stone and the sphere (halo) of sun and moon surrounding the sun and moon.1801.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਘੇਰਿ ਲੀਓ ਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਨਾਥ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
gher leeo har kau jab hee tab sree jadunaath saraasan leeno |When Krishna was surrounded, he caught hold of his bow and arrows in his hands
ਦੁਜਨ ਸੈਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਧਸਿ ਕੈ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਘਨੋ ਦਲੁ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
dujan sain bikhai dhas kai chhin mai bin praan ghano dal keeno |Penetrating into the enemy’s army, he killed innumerable army-warriors in an instant
ਲੋਥ ਪੈ ਲੋਥ ਗਈ ਪਰਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੋ ॥
loth pai loth gee par kai ih bhaat kariyo at judh prabeeno |He waged the war so skillfully that there were corpses over corpes
ਜੋ ਕੋਊ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਆਇ ਅਰਿਓ ਅਰਿ ਸੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੧੮੦੨॥
jo koaoo saamuhe aae ario ar so grih jeevat jaan na deeno |1802|The enemy who came in front of him, Krishna did not let him remain alive.1802.
ਬਹੁ ਬੀਰ ਹਨੇ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਬਰ ਬੀਰ ਬਡੇ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ॥
bahu beer hane lakh kai ran mai bar beer badde at kop bhare |Seeing so many heroes dying on the battlefield, the great warriors are filled with rage.
ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਇ ਪਰੇ ਹਠਿ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਕੁ ਡਰੇ ॥
jadubeer ke aoopar aae pare hatth kai man mai nahee naik ddare |Seeing most of the army being killed, many mighty warriors got enraged and fell upon Krishna persistently and fearlessly
ਸਬ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਕਰੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਪੈਗੁ ਟਰੇ ॥
sab sasatr sanbhaar prahaar karai kab sayaam kahai nahee paig ttare |All of them holding their weapons, struck blows and did not go even one step backward
ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਰ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਏਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਰੇ ॥੧੮੦੩॥
brijanaath saraasan lai tin ke sar ek hee ek so praan hare |1803|Krishna taking up his bow, killed them all with a single arrow.1803.
ਬਹੁ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਬਰ ਬੀਰ ਜਬੈ ਜੇਊ ਸੂਰ ਰਹੇ ਮਨ ਕੋਪੁ ਪਗੇ ॥
bahu bhoom gire bar beer jabai jeaoo soor rahe man kop page |Seeing many soldiers laid on the earth
ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਯੌ ਸਬ ਗੂਜਰ ਪੂਤ ਕੇ ਕਉਨ ਭਗੇ ॥
brijanaath nihaar uchaarat yau sab goojar poot ke kaun bhage |The warriors god greatly infuriated, and looking at Krishna said, “Who will run away in fear from this son of a milkman?
ਅਬ ਯਾ ਕਹੁ ਮਾਰਤ ਹੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਰਸ ਬੀਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਉਮਗੇ ॥
ab yaa kahu maarat hai ran mai man mai ras beer mile umage |“We shall kill just now in the battlefield
ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਤੀਰ ਛੁਟੇ ਤੇ ਡਰੇ ਭਟ ਜਿਉ ਕੋਊ ਸੋਵਤ ਚਉਕ ਜਗੇ ॥੧੮੦੪॥
jadubeer ke teer chhutte te ddare bhatt jiau koaoo sovat chauk jage |1804|” But on the discharge of arrows by Krishna, the hero of Yadavas, the illusion of all was shattered and it appeared that the warriors have awakened from sleep.1804.
ਝੂਲਨਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

ਲੀਯੋ ਪਾਨਿ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਜੂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੈ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਕੀ ਸੈਨ ਕੁਟੀ ॥
leeyo paan sanbhaar kai chakr bhagavaan joo krodh kai satru kee sain kuttee |Krishna took the discus in his hand in anger and chopped enemy’s army, the earth trembled because of the dreadfulness of war
ਮਹੀ ਚਾਲ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਸੋ ਨਾਗ ਭਾਗੇ ਰਮਾ ਨਾਥ ਜਾਗੇ ਹਰਹਿ ਡੀਠ ਛੁਟੀ ॥
mahee chaal keeno daso naag bhaage ramaa naath jaage hareh ddeetth chhuttee |All the ten Nagas ran away, Vishnu awoke from his sleep and the meditation of Shiva was impaired
ਘਨੀ ਮਾਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਕੀਨੀ ਘਨੀ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੋ ਦੇਖ ਕੈ ਸੈਨ ਫੁਟੀ ॥
ghanee maar sanghaar bidaar keenee ghanee sayaam ko dekh kai sain futtee |Krishna killed the army rushing like clouds, a great part of the army was divided into fragments on seeing Krishna
ਐਸੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਾਖੈ ਮਹਾ ਸੂਰਮੋ ਕੀ ਤਹਾ ਆਪਨੀ ਜੀਤ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਤੁਟੀ ॥੧੮੦੫॥
aaise sayaam bhaakhai mahaa sooramo kee tahaa aapanee jeet kee aas tuttee |1805|The poet Shyam says that there the hope of the warriors for victory ended.1805.
ਘਨੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਚੀ ਤਹਾ ਕਾਲਿ ਨਾਚੀ ਘਨੇ ਜੁਧ ਕਉ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਬੀਰ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
ghanee maar maachee tahaa kaal naachee ghane judh kau chhaadd kai beer bhaage |A dreadful war began there, the death danced and the warriors, leaving the battle, ran away
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਕੇ ਲਾਗਤੇ ਹੀ ਐਸੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਾਖੈ ਘਨਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤ੍ਯਾਗੇ ॥
krisan baan kamaan ke laagate hee aaise sayaam bhaakhai ghaniyo praan tayaage |With the infliction of the arrows of Krishna many breathed there last
