ਡਿਮਿ ਡਿਮਿ ਡਿਮਿ ਡਾਮਰੂ ਡਮਕਹਿਾਂ ॥
ddim ddim ddim ddaamaroo ddamakahiaan |The drum is playing by dum dum
ਅਸਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਹਾਥਨ ਮਹਿੰ ਦਮਕਹਿਾਂ ॥
as anek haathan mahin damakahiaan |And swords are shining in many hands.
ਕਟਿ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੇ ਬਿਕਟ ਭਟ ਰਨ ਮੈ ॥
katt katt mare bikatt bhatt ran mai |Very strong warriors are dying in the war.
ਰਿਝਿ ਰਿਝਿ ਬਰੈ ਬਰੰਗਨਨ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥੧੮॥
rijh rijh barai baranganan man mai |18|They are being showered with rain. 18.
ਲਹ ਲਹ ਕੋਟਿ ਧੁਜਾ ਫਹਰਾਵੈ ॥
lah lah kott dhujaa faharaavai |Millions of flags are fluttering.
ਸੂਰਜ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
sooraj chandr na dekhe jaavai |(They are so great that) even the sun and the moon cannot be seen.
ਕਹਕ ਕਹਕ ਤਹ ਕਰੈ ਮਸਾਨਾ ॥
kahak kahak tah karai masaanaa |Masan (ghosts) are saying there
ਨਾਚੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਜੁਝਊਆ ਜ੍ਵਾਨਾ ॥੧੯॥
naache baaje jujhaooaa jvaanaa |19|And the warriors are fighting while dancing to the tune of the instruments. 19.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਪਰਸ ਪਾਸ ਅਸਿ ਬਜ੍ਰ ਭੇ ਬਰਿਸੇ ਬਿਸਿਖ ਬਿਸੇਖ ॥
paras paas as bajr bhe barise bisikh bisekh |There has been a special rain of swords, swords, and arrows.
ਘਾਯਲ ਸਭੁ ਸੂਰਾ ਭਏ ਜੂਝਤ ਭਏ ਅਸੇਖ ॥੨੦॥
ghaayal sabh sooraa bhe joojhat bhe asekh |20|All the heroes have been wounded and martyred without account. 20.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Verse:
ਮਹਾ ਜੁਧ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਸਭੈ ਦੇਵ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
mahaa judh kai kai sabhai dev haare |All the gods were defeated by fighting a great war
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
triyaa patibrataa te na jaavai sanghaare |In spite of giving tough fight, gods lost and, but, as his wife was
ਗਏ ਜੂਝ ਜੋਧਾ ਮਹਾ ਐਠਿਯਾਰੇ ॥
ge joojh jodhaa mahaa aaitthiyaare |Many brave warriors have died in battle.
ਰਹੇ ਤੇ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਐ ਕੈ ਹਕਾਰੇ ॥੨੧॥
rahe te chahoon or aai kai hakaare |21|virtuous, he (Jalandhar) could not be killed.(21)
ਕਹਾ ਜਾਤ ਦੇਵੇਸ ਜਾਨੇ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
kahaa jaat deves jaane na dai hai |(The giants started saying) O Indra! Where do you go, (we) will not let you go.
ਇਸੀ ਛੇਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
eisee chhetr mai maar kai tohi lai hai |You have to be killed in this battlefield.
ਮੰਡੇ ਬੀਰ ਬਾਨਾਨ ਬਾਜਾਨ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
mandde beer baanaan baajaan lai kai |The warriors are armed with horses and arrows.
ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਕੀ ਚਿਤ ਕੋ ਓਪ ਦੈ ਕੈ ॥੨੨॥
mahaa kop kee chit ko op dai kai |22|The beauty has been increased by making a lot of anger in the mind. 22.
ਤਬੈ ਬਿਸਨ ਜੂ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਐਸੇ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tabai bisan joo mantr aaise bichaariyo |Then Vishnu thought (in his mind) this
ਸਭੈ ਦਾਨਵਾਨੇਸ ਕੋ ਭੇਸ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sabhai daanavaanes ko bhes dhaariyo |And assumed the full form of the Jalandhar demon.
ਜਿਸੀ ਬਾਗ ਮੈ ਨਾਰ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦਾ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
jisee baag mai naar brindaa biraajai |Brinda woman was sitting in the garden
ਲਖੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਕੰਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੋ ਦਰਪੁ ਭਾਜੈ ॥੨੩॥
lakhe jaeh kandrap ko darap bhaajai |23|And seeing (the form of) Kama Dev's pride was also being destroyed. 23.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਜਾਲੰਧਰ ਕੇ ਭੇਸ ਧਰਿ ਤਹਾ ਪਹੂੰਚ੍ਯੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
jaalandhar ke bhes dhar tahaa pahoonchayo jaae |Then Vishnu thought over the plan and disguised himself as Devil (Jalandhar).
ਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਰੀਝਤ ਭਈ ਸੁ ਭਾਇ ॥੨੪॥
pat ko roop pachhaan kai reejhat bhee su bhaae |24|The garden, where Brinda was staying, captivated every body’s mind, even Cupid would getjealous.(24)

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhaat bhaat tih saath bihaariyo |(Vishnu in Jalandhar form) behaved with him in kind
ਸਭ ਕੰਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੋ ਦਰਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sabh kandrap ko darap nivaariyo |He enjoyed with her invariably and illuminated the Cupid’s ego.
ਉਤੈ ਜੁਧ ਜੋ ਭਯੋ ਸੁਨਾਊ ॥
autai judh jo bhayo sunaaoo |I narrate the war that took place there,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਸਿਰਾਊ ॥੨੫॥
taa te tumare hridai siraaoo |25|‘Now I will narrate you the fighting which went on here, which would sooth your feeling.’(25)
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Chhand
ਉਤੈ ਦੈਤ ਬਾਕੈ ਇਤੈ ਦੇਵ ਆਛੇ ॥
autai dait baakai itai dev aachhe |There are giants and there are good gods.
ਲਏ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀ ਸਭੈ ਕਾਛ ਕਾਛੇ ॥
le sool saithee sabhai kaachh kaachhe |All are holding tridents and spears.
ਮਹਾ ਨਾਦ ਮਾਰੂ ਤਿਸੀ ਖੇਤ ਬਾਜੇ ॥
mahaa naad maaroo tisee khet baaje |A deadly sound is playing in that war-land.
ਦਿਤ੍ਰਯਾਦਿਤ ਗਾੜੇ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਗਾਜੇ ॥੨੬॥
ditrayaadit gaarre duhoon or gaaje |26|The sons of Diti and Aditi are making noise on both sides. 26.
ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਬੀਰ ਜੂਝੇ ॥
mahaa kop kai kai kahoon beer joojhe |Somewhere the warriors were fighting with great anger.
ਪਰੇ ਭਾਤਿ ਐਸੀ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਬੂਝੇ ॥
pare bhaat aaisee nahee jaat boojhe |On one side the devils were strong and on the other, the gods were equall good.
ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਬਾਜੀ ਜਿਰਹ ਬੀਰ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
kahoon raaj baajee jirah beer bhaaree |Somewhere kings, horses, warriors and great armor (are lying).
ਕਹੂੰ ਤੇਗ ਔ ਤੀਰ ਕਾਤੀ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥੨੭॥
kahoon teg aau teer kaatee kattaaree |27|Both had spears and tridents and dIe progeny of both ofthem was full involved.(27)
ਕਹੂੰ ਟੋਪ ਟੂਟੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਗ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
kahoon ttop ttootte kahoon raag bhaaree |Somewhere the helmets are broken, somewhere the heavy bells are sounding,
ਕਹੂੰ ਜ੍ਵਾਨ ਜੇਬੇ ਸੁ ਕਾਤੀ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥
kahoon jvaan jebe su kaatee kattaaree |Somewhere the young warriors are happy with the wives of the Kataris.
ਕਹੂੰ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀ ਗਿਰੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਐਸੀ ॥
kahoon sool saithee giree bhoom aaisee |Some shuls and sehathis are lying on the ground like this
ਦਿਪੈ ਚਾਰ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਹਾ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਜੈਸੀ ॥੨੮॥
dipai chaar sobhaa mahaa jvaal jaisee |28|That their beautiful beauty is like a great flame. 28.

brindaa ko prathamai sat ttaariyo |(Vishnu) first dissolved seven of Brinda.
