ਰਸਾਵਲ ਛੰਦ ॥
rasaaval chhand |

RASAAVAL STANZA

ਤਬੈ ਦੇਵ ਧਾਏ ॥
tabai dev dhaae |

Then the gods ran towards the goddess

ਸਭੋ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਆਏ ॥
sabho sees niaae |

With bowed heads.

ਸੁਮਨ ਧਾਰ ਬਰਖੇ ॥
suman dhaar barakhe |

The flowers were showered

ਸਬੈ ਸਾਧ ਹਰਖੇ ॥੬॥
sabai saadh harakhe |6|

And all the saints (hods) were pleased.6.

ਕਰੀ ਦੇਬਿ ਅਰਚਾ ॥
karee deb arachaa |

The goddess was worshipped

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੇਦ ਚਰਚਾ ॥
braham bed charachaa |

With the recitation of Vesdas manifested by Brahma.

ਜਬੈ ਪਾਇ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
jabai paae laage |

When they fell at the feet of the goddess

ਤਬੈ ਸੋਗ ਭਾਗੇ ॥੭॥
tabai sog bhaage |7|

All their sufferings ended.7.

ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
binantee sunaaee |

They made their supplication,

ਭਵਾਨੀ ਰਿਝਾਈ ॥
bhavaanee rijhaaee |

And pleased the goddess

ਸਬੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
sabai sasatr dhaaree |

Who wore all her weapons,

ਕਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਆਰੀ ॥੮॥
karee singh suaaree |8|

And mounted the lion.8.

ਕਰੇ ਘੰਟ ਨਾਦੰ ॥
kare ghantt naadan |

ਧੁਨੰ ਨਿਰਬਿਖਾਦੰ ॥
dhunan nirabikhaadan |

The songs resounded without interruption

ਸੁਨੋ ਦਈਤ ਰਾਜੰ ॥
suno deet raajan |

The sounds was heard by the demon-king,

ਸਜਿਯੋ ਜੁਧ ਸਾਜੰ ॥੯॥
sajiyo judh saajan |9|

Who made preparations for the war.9.

ਚੜਿਯੋ ਰਾਛਸੇਸੰ ॥
charriyo raachhasesan |

The demon-king marched forward

ਰਚੇ ਚਾਰ ਅਨੇਸੰ ॥
rache chaar anesan |

And appointed four generals

ਬਲੀ ਚਾਮਰੇਵੰ ॥
balee chaamarevan |

One was Chamar, the second was Chichhur,

ਹਠੀ ਚਿਛੁਰੇਵੰ ॥੧੦॥
hatthee chichhurevan |10|

Both brave and persistent.10.

ਬਿੜਾਲਛ ਬੀਰੰ ॥
birraalachh beeran |

The third was the brave biralachh,

ਚੜੇ ਬੀਰ ਧੀਰੰ ॥
charre beer dheeran |

They were all mighty warriors and most tenacious.

ਬੜੇ ਇਖੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
barre ikh dhaaree |

They were great archers

ਘਟਾ ਜਾਨ ਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੧॥
ghattaa jaan kaaree |11|

And marched forward like dark clouds.11.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |

DOHRA

ਬਾਣਿ ਜਿਤੇ ਰਾਛਸਨਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਛਾਡਤ ਭਏ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
baan jite raachhasan mil chhaaddat bhe apaar |

The arrows showered by all the demons together in great numbers,

ਫੂਲਮਾਲ ਹੁਐ ਮਾਤ ਉਰਿ ਸੋਭੇ ਸਭੇ ਸੁਧਾਰ ॥੧੨॥
foolamaal huaai maat ur sobhe sabhe sudhaar |12|

Became a garland the neck of the goddess (the universal mother), bedecking it.12.

ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang prayaat chhand |

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਜਿਤੇ ਦਾਨਵੌ ਬਾਨ ਪਾਨੀ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
jite daanavau baan paanee chalaae |

All the shafts shot by the demons with their hands,

ਤਿਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਬਚਾਏ ॥
tite devataa aap kaatte bachaae |

Were intercepted by the goddess to protect herself.

ਕਿਤੇ ਢਾਲ ਢਾਹੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਪਾਸ ਪੇਲੇ ॥
kite dtaal dtaahe kite paas pele |

Many were thrown on the ground with her shield and many were entrapped within the baited trap.

ਭਰੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੋਹੂ ਜਨੋ ਫਾਗ ਖੇਲੈ ॥੧੩॥
bhare basatr lohoo jano faag khelai |13|

The clothes saturated with blood created an illusion of Holi.13.

ਦ੍ਰੁਗਾ ਹੂੰ ਕੀਯੰ ਖੇਤ ਧੁੰਕੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥
drugaa hoon keeyan khet dhunke nagaare |

The trumpets sounded and Durga began to wage war.

ਕਰੰ ਪਟਿਸੰ ਪਰਿਘ ਪਾਸੀ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
karan pattisan parigh paasee sanbhaare |

She had pattas, axes and baits in her hands

ਤਹਾ ਗੋਫਨੈ ਗੁਰਜ ਗੋਲੇ ਸੰਭਾਰੈ ॥
tahaa gofanai guraj gole sanbhaarai |

She caught of pellet bow, mace and pellets.

ਹਠੀ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥੧੪॥
hatthee maar hee maar kai kai pukaarai |14|

The persistent warriors were shouting “Kill, Kill”.14.

ਤਬੇ ਅਸਟ ਹਾਥੰ ਹਥਿਯਾਰੰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
tabe asatt haathan hathiyaaran sanbhaare |

The goddess held eight weapons in her eitht hands,

ਸਿਰੰ ਦਾਨਵੇਾਂਦ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੇ ਤਾਕਿ ਝਾਰੇ ॥
siran daanaveaandraan ke taak jhaare |

And hit them on the heads of chief demons.

ਬਬਕਿਯੋ ਬਲੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੁਧੰ ਮਝਾਰੰ ॥
babakiyo balee singh judhan majhaaran |

The demon-king rored like a lion in the battlefield,

ਕਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡੰ ਸੁ ਜੋਧਾ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥੧੫॥
kare khandd khanddan su jodhaa apaaran |15|

And chopped into bits, many great warriors.15.

ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥
tottak chhand |

TOTAK STANZA

ਤਬ ਦਾਨਵ ਰੋਸ ਭਰੇ ਸਬ ਹੀ ॥
tab daanav ros bhare sab hee |

All the demons were filled with anger,

ਜਗ ਮਾਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਣ ਲਗੈ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
jag maat ke baan lagai jab hee |

When the were pierced by the arrows of the Mother of the worls.

ਬਿਬਿਧਾਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਬਲੀ ਹਰਖੇ ॥
bibidhaayudh lai su balee harakhe |

Those brave warriors caught hold of their weapons with pleasure,
