ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |Dohira
ਸਭੈ ਚਮਰੁ ਤੂ ਮੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਯਾ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
sabhai chamar too mai binaa yaa pur mai hvai jaeh |He pronounced, ‘Except me every body get stuck.’
ਜਹ ਤਹ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਲਗੀ ਰਹੀ ਛਿਤ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੨੦॥
jah tah nar naaree hutee lagee rahee chhit maeh |20|Then all the men and women, where ever they were, they plunged on the ground.(20)
ਸੋਤ ਜਗਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਉਠਤ ਚਿਮਟ ਗਏ ਛਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sot jagat baitthat utthat chimatt ge chhin maeh |All those who were sleeping, awake, standing or sitting got stuck with the ground.
ਕੂਕ ਉਠੀ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਘਨੀ ਨੈਕ ਰਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨੧॥
kook utthee pur mai ghanee naik rahee sudh naeh |21|No one remained in his senses and lamentations were prevailing all over.(21)
ਪਤਿ ਧੋਤੀ ਬਾਧਿਤ ਫਸਿਯੋ ਪਾਕ ਪਕਾਵਤ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ॥
pat dhotee baadhit fasiyo paak pakaavat treey |Husband was stuck while tying his lion-cloth and the woman was stuck while cooking.
ਨੌਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸੋਵਤ ਫਸਿਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਰਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਜੀਯ ॥੨੨॥
nauaa triy sovat fasiyo kachh na rahee sudh jeey |22|The husband sleeping with newly wed was stuck and no one remained rational.(22)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਸਾਹੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਤਬਹ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਆਯੋ ॥
saahu putr tabah taa ke aayo |Then the Shah's son came to him (the barber's son).
ਕਹਾ ਭਯੋ ਕਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
kahaa bhayo keh tisai sunaayo |The Shah’s son came there and told him what had happened.
ਜੁ ਕਛੁ ਕਹੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਜ ਕਮਾਊ ॥
ju kachh kaho muhi kaaj kamaaoo |(The king's son said to the barber's son, you) I will do whatever you tell me.
ਬੈਦਹਿ ਢੂਢਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ਲ੍ਯਾਊ ॥੨੩॥
baideh dtoodt tihaare layaaoo |23|(He said,) ‘I will act the way you tell me and I will go and get a hakim (lay doctor).’(23)
ਲੈ ਘੋਰੀ ਸੁਤ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
lai ghoree sut saahu sidhaayo |Shah's son went with the horse
ਖੋਜਿ ਬੈਦ ਕੋ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਆਯੋ ॥
khoj baid ko sang lai aayo |The Shah’s son rode a mare to go in search, and to request the hakim to come.
ਤਹ ਜੰਗਲ ਕੀ ਹਾਜਤਿ ਭਈ ॥
tah jangal kee haajat bhee |That doctor had to go to the forest
ਘੋਰੀ ਸਾਹੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਦਈ ॥੨੪॥
ghoree saahu putr ko dee |24|He (barber’s son) felt to go to meet the call of the nature, after handing over the mare to the son ofthe Shah.(24)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਜਾਇ ਬੂਟੈ ਤਬ ਬੈਠਿਯੋ ਲਈ ਕੁਪੀਨ ਉਠਾਇ ॥
jaae boottai tab baitthiyo lee kupeen utthaae |Undoing his lion-cloth he postured to relieve himself.
ਡਲਾ ਭਏ ਪੌਛਨ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਚਮਰੁ ਤੂ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੨੫॥
ddalaa bhe pauachhan lagiyo kahiyo chamar too taeh |25|As soon as he picked up and used a stone (to wipe off), he (Shah’s Son), pronounced, ‘get stuck.’
ਹਾਥ ਲਗੋਟੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਡਲਾ ਫਸਿਯੋ ਬੁਰਿ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
haath lagottee reh gee ddalaa fasiyo bur maeh |The corner of the lion-cloth remained in his (barber’s son’s) hand
ਚਰਨ ਝਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਰਸੇ ਤਾਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨੬॥
charan jhaar ke sang rase taeh rahee sudh naeh |26|And the stone was stuck in his rectum His feet were clung in the rope and he lost all his consciousness.(26)
ਲਏ ਅਸ੍ਵਨੀ ਸਾਹੁ ਕੋ ਪੂਤ ਪਹੂੰਚ੍ਯੋ ਆਇ ॥
le asvanee saahu ko poot pahoonchayo aae |When the Shah’s son brought hakim on a mare,
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬੈਦ ਮੈ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਕਰੋਂ ਇਹ ਦੁਖ ਕੋ ਸੁ ਉਪਾਇ ॥੨੭॥
kahiyo baid mai kayaa karon ih dukh ko su upaae |27|He asked, ‘Oh, hakim, how can I remedy this adversity.’(27)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਸਾਹੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਤਬ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
saahu putr tab bachan uchaaro |Then the Shah's son said,
ਸੁਨੋ ਬੈਦ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
suno baid upachaar hamaaro |The Shah’s son suggested, ‘Dear Hakim, listen to me, my remedy,
ਹਮਰੋ ਇਹ ਆਗੇ ਦੁਖ ਭਯੋ ॥
hamaro ih aage dukh bhayo |I also had this pain (once) before
ਇਹ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਦੂਰਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ॥੨੮॥
eih upachaar door hvai gayo |28|‘Previously I suffered as well and through this it was remedied.’(28)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਯਾ ਘੋਰੀ ਕੇ ਭਗ ਬਿਖੈ ਜੀਭ ਦਈ ਸੌ ਬਾਰ ॥
yaa ghoree ke bhag bikhai jeebh dee sau baar |‘I had thrust my tongue in the vagina of the mare for a hundred times,
ਤੁਰਤ ਰੋਗ ਹਮਰੋ ਕਟਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਬੈਦ ਉਪਚਾਰ ॥੨੯॥
turat rog hamaro kattiyo sunahu baid upachaar |29|‘Then, listen hakim, my curse was eliminated immediately.’(29)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤਬੈ ਬੈਦ ਸੋਊ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
tabai baid soaoo kriaa kamaaee |Then the physician did the same thing
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਭਗ ਮੈ ਜੀਭ ਧਸਾਈ ॥
taa ke bhag mai jeebh dhasaaee |The hakim wanted to try by himself, and thrust his tongue in the mare’s vagma.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਚਮਰੁ ਤੂ ਸੋ ਲਗਿ ਗਈ ॥
kahiyo chamar too so lag gee |(Shah's son) said, "Tweak yourself" and she joined.
ਅਤਿ ਹਾਸੀ ਗਦਹਾ ਕੋ ਭਈ ॥੩੦॥
at haasee gadahaa ko bhee |30|He (Shah’s son) announced, get stuck, it was caught there and a great funwas ensued.(30)
ਲਏ ਲਏ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਪੁਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
le le taa ko pur aayo |He came to the village with him
ਸਗਲ ਗਾਵ ਕੋ ਦਰਸ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥
sagal gaav ko daras dikhaayo |He (Shah’s son) brought them to display in the village (where all people were already stuck).
ਬੈਦ ਕਛੂ ਉਪਚਾਰਹਿ ਕਰੌ ॥
baid kachhoo upachaareh karau |(Said to a village doctor-) O doctor! Do something about it
ਇਨ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਛੁਟਨ ਤੇ ਡਰੌ ॥੩੧॥
ein ke praan chhuttan te ddarau |31|Every body requested hakim, ‘Please imply some antidote to release us.’(31)
ਪੁਰ ਜਨ ਬਾਚ ॥
pur jan baach |The villagers said:
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਅਧਿਕ ਦੁਖੀ ਪੁਰ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
adhik dukhee pur jan bhe kachhoo na chaliyo upaae |Whole populace was in turmoil but they were helpless to do anything.
ਚਲਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਯਾ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਚਰਨ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥੩੨॥
chalat firat yaa ko nirakh rahe charan lapattaae |32|Seeing them walking in, they fell on their feet (and begged),(32)

ਹਮਰੇ ਨਾਥ ਉਪਾਇਹਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
hamare naath upaaeihi keejai |O Nath! Do our (any) measure
ਅਪਨੇ ਜਾਨਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
apane jaan raakh kar leejai |‘Please promote some resolve, and considering us all as your own subject, save us.
ਇਨੈ ਕਰੀ ਕਛੁ ਚੂਕ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
einai karee kachh chook tihaaree |They must have done something wrong to you.
