ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਜਾਨਿਯਤ ਜਹਾ ਕੋ ॥
paatisaah jaaniyat jahaa ko |Who was considered the king of that place (or of the world).
ਬਿਸਨ ਮਤੀ ਰਾਨੀ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ॥
bisan matee raanee taa ke ghar |In his house there was a queen named Bisan Mati.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਲਾ ਜਨੁ ਭਈ ਨਿਸਾ ਕਰ ॥੨॥
pragatt kalaa jan bhee nisaa kar |2|(It seemed) as if the art of the moon had been illuminated. 2.

doharaa |dual:
ਬਿਸਨ ਕੇਤੁ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਭਏ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
bisan ket besvaa bhe nis din bhog kamaae |Bisan Ketu became possessed by a harlot and used to indulge (with her) day and night.
ਬਿਸਨ ਮਤੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਸਦਨ ਭੂਲਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
bisan matee triy ke sadan bhool na kabahoon jaae |3|But Bisan never went to Mati's house without forgetting. 3.

ਰਾਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਪਠੀ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਪਹਿ ॥
raanee sakhee patthee besvaa peh |The queen sent to a skilled courtesan
ਦੈ ਧਨੁ ਅਧਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ਐਸੀ ਕਹਿ ॥
dai dhan adhik bhaat aaisee keh |And having given much money thus said (to say to him)
ਬਿਸਨ ਕੇਤੁ ਕੌ ਜੌ ਤੂ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
bisan ket kau jau too maarai |That if you kill the Bisan Ketu king
ਬਿਸਨ ਮਤੀ ਦਾਰਦਿ ਤਵ ਟਾਰੈ ॥੪॥
bisan matee daarad tav ttaarai |4|Then Bisan Mati will remove all your poverty. 4.
ਸਹਚਰਿ ਜਬ ਐਸੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਹੀ ॥
sahachar jab aaisee bidh kahee |When the maidservant (prostitute) said thus
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਚੁਪ ਰਹੀ ॥
besvaa bain sunat chup rahee |(So) the harlot kept silent after hearing the talk.
ਧਨ ਸਰਾਫ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਮੈ ਰਾਖੋ ॥
dhan saraaf ke ghar mai raakho |(He then said) keep the money in Saraf's house
ਕਾਮ ਭਏ ਦੀਜੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਭਾਖੋ ॥੫॥
kaam bhe deejai muhi bhaakho |5|And give it when it's done. (Having done so) tell me. 5.
ਸੂਰਜ ਛਪਾ ਰੈਨਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਆਈ ॥
sooraj chhapaa rain hvai aaee |The sun went down and it was night.
ਤਬ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
tab besvaa nrip bol patthaaee |Then the king called the prostitute.
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਨੂਪ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਤਹ ਗਈ ॥
basatr anoop pahir tah gee |(She) went there wearing very beautiful armor
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਰਿਝਾਵਤ ਭਈ ॥੬॥
bahu bidh taeh rijhaavat bhee |6|And began to please him in many ways. 6.

ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੰਗ ਸੁ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
bhaat anik nrip sang su kel kamaae kai |By playing with the king
ਸੋਇ ਰਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
soe rahee tih saath tarun lapattaae kai |The prostitute fell asleep with him.
ਅਰਧ ਰਾਤ੍ਰਿ ਜਬ ਗਈ ਉਠੀ ਤਬ ਜਾਗਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
aradh raatr jab gee utthee tab jaag kar |When it was midnight then the king
ਹੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰੀਤਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੀ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਕਰਿ ॥੭॥
ho preet reet raajaa kee chit te tayaag kar |7|Forgetting about love, she woke up. 7.
ਲੈ ਜਮਧਰ ਤਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
lai jamadhar taahee ko taeh prahaar kai |He took his dagger and killed him
ਉਠਿ ਰੁਦਿਨ ਕਿਯ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਲਕਟੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
autth rudin kiy aap kilakattee maar kai |And she got up and started crying.
ਨਿਰਖਹੁ ਸਭ ਜਨ ਆਇ ਕਹਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਭਯੋ ॥
nirakhahu sabh jan aae kahaa kaaran bhayo |All the people came and saw and (asked) what had happened.
ਹੋ ਤਸਕਰ ਕੋਊ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ਅਬੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਗਯੋ ॥੮॥
ho tasakar koaoo sanghaar abai nrip ko gayo |8|(The harlot started saying that) a thief has just killed the king. 8.
ਧੂਮ ਨਗਰ ਮੌ ਪਰੀ ਸਕਲ ਉਠਿ ਜਨ ਧਏ ॥
dhoom nagar mau paree sakal utth jan dhe |There was chaos in the city. All the people fled (there).
ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕਹ ਆਨਿ ਸਕਲ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਭਏ ॥
mritak nripat kah aan sakal nirakhat bhe |Everyone started looking at the dead body of the king.
ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਗਿਰਹ ਧਰਨਿ ਮੁਰਛਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
haae haae kar girah dharan murachhaae kar |They fell unconscious on the ground after chanting hi hi.
ਹੋ ਧੂਰਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਸਿਰ ਗਿਰਹਿ ਧਰਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥੯॥
ho dhoor ddaar sir gireh dharan dukh paae kar |9|They put dirt on their heads and fell on the ground in a state of misery (being impure). 9.
ਬਿਸਨ ਮਤੀ ਹੂੰ ਤਹਾ ਤਬੈ ਆਵਤ ਭਈ ॥
bisan matee hoon tahaa tabai aavat bhee |Bisan Mati also came there then.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਰਾਇ ਕਹ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਦੁਖਾਕੁਲਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਭੀ ॥
nirakh raae kah mritak dukhaakul adhik bhee |Seeing the king dead, she became distraught with grief.
ਲੂਟਿ ਧਾਮ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਕੋ ਲਿਯਾ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
loott dhaam besvaa ko liyaa sudhaar kai |That prostitute's house was well robbed
ਹੋ ਤਿਸੀ ਕਟਾਰੀ ਸਾਥ ਉਦਰ ਤਿਹ ਫਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੦॥
ho tisee kattaaree saath udar tih faar kai |10|By tearing the belly of the prostitute with the same knife. 10.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਕਟਾਰੀ ਕਾਢਿ ਸੋ ਹਨਨ ਲਗੀ ਉਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
bahur kattaaree kaadt so hanan lagee ur maeh |Then she took out a dagger (from his stomach) and started stabbing it in (her) heart.
ਸਹਚਰੀ ਗਹਿ ਲਈ ਲਗਨ ਦਈ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧੧॥
sahacharee geh lee lagan dee tih naeh |11|But the maid took hold and did not let him touch. 11.

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਤਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
pratham maar pat pun tih maaraa |First killed the husband, then killed her (prostitute).
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਿਨੂੰ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
bhed abhed kinoo na bichaaraa |But no one considered Bheda Abheda.
ਰਾਜ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਕੌ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
raaj putr apane kau deenaa |He gave the kingdom to his son.
ਐਸੋ ਚਰਿਤ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੧੨॥੧॥
aaiso charit chanchalaa keenaa |12|1|This kind of character was done by a woman. 12.1.

ਚਾਰਿ ਬਰਨ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਰਹੈ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਸਰਦਾਰ ॥੧॥
