ਮੁਕੀਯਾ ਊ ਲਰੈ ਇਕ ਆਪਸ ਮੈ ਗਹਿ ਕੇਸਨਿ ਕੇਸ ਏਕ ਅਰੇ ਹੈਂ ॥
mukeeyaa aoo larai ik aapas mai geh kesan kes ek are hain |Someone is fighting with twisted fist and someone is fighting by catching the hair
ਏਕ ਚਲੇ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਭਜਿ ਕੈ ਇਕ ਆਹਵ ਕੋ ਪਗ ਆਗੇ ਕਰੇ ਹੈਂ ॥
ek chale ran te bhaj kai ik aahav ko pag aage kare hain |Someone is running away from the battlefield and someone is moving forward
ਏਕ ਲਰੇ ਗਹਿ ਫੇਟਨਿ ਫੇਟ ਕਟਾਰਨ ਸੋ ਦੋਊ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੇ ਹੈਂ ॥
ek lare geh fettan fett kattaaran so doaoo joojh mare hain |Someone is fighting with the girdles and someone is fighting by inflicting blows with his spear
ਸੋਊ ਲਰੇ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਰੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੁਲ ਕੀ ਜੋਊ ਲਾਜਿ ਭਰੇ ਹੈਂ ॥੧੧੯੨॥
soaoo lare kab raam rarai apune kul kee joaoo laaj bhare hain |1192|The poet Shyam says that only those people are fighting, who think of their family-traditions.1192.
ਆਠੋ ਹੀ ਭੂਪ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਸਬ ਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਤਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
aattho hee bhoop ayodhan mai sab lai pritanaa har aoopar aae |
ਜੁਧ ਕਰੋ ਨ ਡਰੋ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
judh karo na ddaro ham te kab raam kahai ih bain sunaae |All the eight kings fell upon Krishna alongwith their armies in the battlefield and said, “O Krishna! fight with us fearlessly,”
ਦੈ ਕੈ ਕਸੀਸਨਿ ਈਸਨਿ ਚਾਪਨਿ ਲੈ ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਓਰਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
dai kai kaseesan eesan chaapan lai sar sree har or chalaae |
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਪਾਨਿ ਸਰਾਸਨਿ ਲੈ ਸਰ ਸੋ ਸਰ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਟਿ ਗਿਰਾਏ ॥੧੧੯੩॥
sayaam joo paan saraasan lai sar so sar aavat kaatt giraae |1193|Pulling their bows, they discharged their arrows towards Krishna and Krishna taking up his bow intercepted their arrows.1193.
ਤਉ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਧੁਜਨੀ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਚਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਰਿਸਿ ਘੇਰਿਯੋ ॥
tau mil kai dhujanee ar kee jadubeer chahoon dis te ris gheriyo |
ਆਪਸਿ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਭਟ ਧੀਰ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਇਹੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਟੇਰਿਯੋ ॥
aapas mai mil kai bhatt dheer hanayo balabeer ihai pun tteriyo |The enemy’s army, in great fury surrounded Krishna from all the four sides and said, “O warriors! all of you may join together in order to kill Krishna
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਲੀ ਅਚਲੇਸ ਕਉ ਅਉਰ ਨਰੇਸਨਿ ਯਾ ਹੀ ਨਿਬੇਰਿਯੋ ॥
sree dhan singh balee achales kau aaur naresan yaa hee niberiyo |
ਇਉ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਸਰ ਮਾਰਤ ਭਯੋ ਗਜ ਪੁੰਜ ਮਨੋ ਕਰਿ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਛੇਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੧੯੪॥
eiau keh kai sar maarat bhayo gaj punj mano kar kehar chheriyo |1194|“It is he, who has killed Dhan Singh and Achlesh Singh and other kings,” saying this they surrounded Krishna like may elephants surrounding a lion.1194.
ਘੇਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੌ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਬ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
gher layo har kau jab hee har joo tab hee sab sasatr sanbhaare |When Krishna was besieged, he held up his weapons
ਕੋਪਿ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਿਸ ਸਾਥ ਘਨੇ ਅਰਿ ਬੀਰ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
kop ayodhan mai fir kai ris saath ghane ar beer sanghaare |In his fury, he killed many enemies in the battlefield, the heads of many were chopped,
ਏਕਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਏ ਇਕ ਜੀਵਤ ਹੀ ਗਹਿ ਕੇਸਿ ਪਛਾਰੇ ॥
ekan ke sir kaatt de ik jeevat hee geh kes pachhaare |And many were knocked down by catching their hair
ਏਕ ਲਰੇ ਕਟਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰੇ ਇਕ ਦੇਖ ਡਰੇ ਮਰਿ ਗੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧੧੯੫॥
ek lare katt bhoom pare ik dekh ddare mar ge bin maare |1195|Some of the warriors having been chopped fell on the earth and some of them seeing all this died without fighting.1195.
ਆਠੋ ਈ ਭੂਪ ਕਹਿਓ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਭਟ ਭਾਜਤ ਹੋ ਕਹਾ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰੋ ॥
aattho ee bhoop kahio mukh te bhatt bhaajat ho kahaa judh karo |All the eight kings said, “O warriors! do not run away and fight till the last
ਜਬ ਲਉ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਹਮ ਜੀਵਤ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਲਉ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਨ ਡਰੋ ॥
jab lau ran mai ham jeevat hai tab lau har te tum hoon na ddaro |Do not fear Krishna as long as we are alive
ਹਮਰੋ ਇਹ ਆਇਸ ਹੈ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਲਰੋ ॥
hamaro ih aaeis hai tum ko jadubeer ke saamuhi jaae laro |“We command you to confront and fight with Krishna, the king of Yadavas
ਕੋਊ ਆਹਵ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਕੁ ਟਰੋ ਇਕ ਜੂਝਿ ਪਰੋ ਇਕ ਧਾਇ ਅਰੋ ॥੧੧੯੬॥
koaoo aahav te nahee naik ttaro ik joojh paro ik dhaae aro |1196|None of you will have the idea of avoiding the war, even slightly, run forward and fight till the last.”1196.
ਫੇਰਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਪਟ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕਉ ਘੇਰਿ ਲੀਯੋ ॥
fer fire patt aayudh lai ran mai jadubeer kau gher leeyo |Then the warriors taking up their weapons fought in the battle and surrounded Krishna
ਨ ਟਰੇ ਅਤਿ ਰੋਸਿ ਭਿਰੇ ਜੀਯ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਆਹਵ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
n ttare at ros bhire jeey mai at aahav chitr bachitr keeyo |They did not retrace their steps even for an instant and waged a violent war in great fury
ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਬਰ ਬੀਰ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੋ ਦਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਦੀਯੋ ॥
as lai bar beer gadaa geh kai rip ko dal maar bidaar deeyo |Holding their swords and maces in their hands, they broke the enemy’s army into fragments
ਇਕ ਬੀਰਨ ਕੇ ਪਦੁ ਸੀਸ ਕਟੇ ਭਟ ਏਕਨ ਕੋ ਦਯੋ ਫਾਰਿ ਹੀਯੋ ॥੧੧੯੭॥
eik beeran ke pad sees katte bhatt ekan ko dayo faar heeyo |1197|Somewhere they chopped the heads of the warriors and somewhere they tore their bosoms.1197.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸਰਾਸਨਿ ਲੈ ਬਹੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਰਥੀ ਸਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਾਏ ॥
sree jadubeer saraasan lai bahu kaatt rathee sir bhoom giraae |Krishna taking his bow in his hand, he knocked down many warriors on chariots,
ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਇਕ ਕੋਪਿ ਭਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਧਾਏ ॥
aayudh lai apune apune ik kop bhare har pai pun dhaae |But again the enemies, taking up their weapons in their hands,
ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕਰੰ ਗਹਿ ਖਗ ਅਭਗ ਹਨੇ ਸੁ ਘਨੇ ਤਹ ਘਾਏ ॥
te brijanaath karan geh khag abhag hane su ghane tah ghaae |They fell upon Krishna, Krishna killed them with his sword and
ਭਾਜਿ ਗਏ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਅਰਿ ਇਉ ਸੁ ਕੋਊ ਨਹਿ ਆਹਵ ਮੈ ਠਹਰਾਏ ॥੧੧੯੮॥
bhaaj ge har te ar iau su koaoo neh aahav mai tthaharaae |1198|In this way those who survived, they could not stay in the battlefield.1198.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਭੂਪਨ ਕੀ ਭਾਜੀ ਚਮੂ ਖਾਇ ਘਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
bhoopan kee bhaajee chamoo khaae ghanee har maar |After a good thrashing by Krishna, all the remaining army of the kings ran away
ਤਬਹਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਆਯੁਧ ਸਕਲ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ॥੧੧੯੯॥
tabeh fire nrip judh ke aayudh sakal sanbhaar |1199|Then holding their weapons the kings collectively marched forward for war.1199.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਕੋਪ ਅਯੋਧਨੁ ਮੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਸਬ ਭੂਪਨ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
kop ayodhan mai kar kai kar mai sab bhoopan sasatr sanbhaare |
ਆਇ ਕੈ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਨਿਜੁ ਆਯੁਧ ਰੋਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
aae kai saamuhe sayaam hee ke bal kai nij aayudh ros prahaare |The kings with great anger held their weapon in their hands in the battlefield and struck their blows furiously, coming in front of Krishna
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਸਰਾਸਨਿ ਲੈ ਸਰ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੈ ਭੂ ਪਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
kaanrah sanbhaar saraasan lai sar satran kaatt kai bhoo par ddaare |Krishna holding his bow intercepted the arrows of the enemies and threw them on the ground
ਘਾਇ ਬਚਾਇ ਕੈ ਯੌ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਹੁਰੇ ਅਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥੧੨੦੦॥
ghaae bachaae kai yau tin kai bahure ar kai sir kaatt utaare |1200|Saving himself from the blows of the enemy, Krishna chopped the heads of many of the opponents.1200.

ਅਜਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਟਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ॥
ajab singh ko sir kattiyo har joo sasatr sanbhaar |
ਅਡਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਘਾਇਲ ਕਰਿਓ ਅਤਿ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥੧੨੦੧॥
addar singh ghaaeil kario at ran bhoom majhaar |1201|Krishna cut away the head of Ajaib Singh with his weapons and wounded Addar Singh in the battlefield.1201.

ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਕੋਪੁ ਜੀਯ ਤਿਹ ਠਯੋ ॥
at hee kop jeey tih tthayo |When Addar Singh was wounded, he was extremely enraged
ਬਹੁ ਤੀਛਨ ਬਰਛਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਲਯੋ ॥
bahu teechhan barachhaa tin layo |
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਓਰਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਯੋ ॥੧੨੦੨॥
har kee or ddaar kai dayo |1202|He took a lance in his hand and discharged it towards Krishna.1202.

ਬਰਛਾ ਆਵਤ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁਖ ਬਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਨ ॥
barachhaa aavat lakhiyo har dhanukh baan kar keen |
ਆਵਤ ਸਰ ਸੋ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਹੈ ਭਟ ਲੀਨ ॥੧੨੦੩॥
aavat sar so kaatt kai maar vahai bhatt leen |1203|Seeing the lance coming, Krishna took his bow and arrows in his hands and intercepted the lance with his arrows, he also killed that warrior.1203.
ਅਘੜ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਖਿ ਤਿਹ ਦਸਾ ਦੇਤ ਭਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਪੀਠਿ ॥
