ਰੋਜ ਮਯਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਅਫਤਾਬਮ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸਬੇ ਅਦਲੀ ਸਬ ਸਾਹਮ ॥
roj mayaa duneea afataabam sayaam sabe adalee sab saaham |“I am also the moon, the Lord of the night, O Krishna! now do not put off the war
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਗੁਰੇਜੀ ਮਕੁਨ ਤੁ ਬਿਆ ਖੁਸ ਮਾਤੁ ਕੁਨੇਮ ਜਿ ਜੰਗ ਗੁਆਹਮ ॥੧੯੧੭॥
kaanrah gurejee makun tu biaa khus maat kunem ji jang guaaham |1917|Come with delight, so that we may be able to play the ball-game of war and win it.”1917.
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਤਾ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਓਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥
yau sun kai tih kee bateeyaa brij naaeik taa hee kee or sidhaare |Hearing his talk, Krishna moved towards him and
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਢਾਇ ਚਿਤੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਅਗਨਾਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰਿ ਝਾਰੇ ॥
krodh badtaae chitai tih ko aganaayudh lai tih aoopar jhaare |In fury discharged his fire-arm towards him
ਸੂਤ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਫਿਰ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਹਯ ਚਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
soot haniyo prithamai tih ko fir kai tih ke hay chaar hee maare |He knocked down his charioteer at first and then killed all his four horses
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਬਿਬਿਧਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਹੁਤੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਟਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥੧੯੧੮॥
aaur jite bibidhaasatr hute kab sayaam kahai sabh hee katt ddaare |1918|All types of weapons that he used were intercepted by Krishna.1918.

ਸੋ ਕਟਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥਹਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
so katt sree brijanaatheh ddaare |The malechha who held up his weapon, was chopped by Krishna
ਆਯੋ ਭਿਰਨ ਇਹੀ ਬਲੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥
aayo bhiran ihee bal kahiyo |
ਜਬ ਅਰਿ ਪਾਇ ਪਿਆਦਾ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੧੯॥
jab ar paae piaadaa rahiyo |1919|When the enemy remained only on foot and he was deprived of his chariot, Krishna said, “Had you come to fight with me relying on such strength?”1919.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਯੋ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਭਈ ਸੋ ਨ ਮਲੇਛ ਜੋ ਮੁਸਟ ਲਰੈ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah bichaar keeyo chit mai bhee so na malechh jo musatt larai hai |
ਤਉ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰੈ ਹੈ ॥
tau kab sayaam kahai hamare sabh hee tan ko apavitr karai hai |Krishna thought in his mind that if this malechh Mustika fights with me, he will make my whole body impure
ਆਯੁਧ ਕਉਚ ਸਜੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਸੈਨ ਜੁਰੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਨਾਇ ਬਧੈ ਹੈ ॥
aayudh kauch saje tan mai sabh sain jurai muhi naae badhai hai |
ਜੋ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਤ ਹੋਂ ਤੁ ਨਿਰਸਤ੍ਰ ਭਯੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਬਲ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੯੨੦॥
jo ih ko sir kaattat hon tu nirasatr bhayo hamaro bal jai hai |1920|If he comes after bedecking himself with his armour and weapons, even then he would not be able to kill him and if I kill him, when he is weaponless, then his strength would decline.1920.
ਏਕ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਯੋ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਭਜ ਹੌ ਇਹ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਪਾਛੇ ਪਰੈ ਹੋ ॥
ek bichaar keeyo chit mai bhaj hau ih te ih paachhe parai ho |Krishna thought in his mind that if he would run, then the malechha would run after him
ਜੈਹੋ ਹਉ ਥੋਰੇਈ ਬੀਚ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਨ ਭੇਟਨ ਯਾਹਿ ਮਲੇਛ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੋ ॥
jaiho hau thoreee beech chaliyo tan bhettan yaeh malechh na dai ho |He would enter some cave, but he would not like that malechha to touch his body
ਸੋਵਤ ਹੈ ਮੁਚਕੁੰਦ ਜਹਾ ਧਸਿ ਵਾਹੀ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਗੈ ਹੋ ॥
sovat hai muchakund jahaa dhas vaahee gufaa meh jaae jagai ho |He would awaken the sleeping Muchukund (the son of Mandhata, who had been given the boon that anyone who awakens him from sleep, will be reduced to ashes)
ਜੈਹੋ ਬਚਾਇ ਮੈ ਆਪਨ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਡੀਠਹ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਜਰਵੈ ਹੋ ॥੧੯੨੧॥
jaiho bachaae mai aapan kai tih ddeetthah so ih ko jaravai ho |1921|He would conceal himself, but get the malechha killed with the fire of the sight of Muchukund.1921.
ਸੋਰਠਾ ॥

ਤਉ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਵਰਗਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਉ ਇਹ ਰਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਹਨਿਓ ॥
tau ih svarageh jaae jau ih ran bheetar hanio |If he kills him (Kalyavana) while fighting, he would go to heaven, therefore he would get him to be reduced to ashes by fire,
ਅਗਨ ਭਏ ਜਰਵਾਇ ਖ੍ਵੈ ਹੋ ਧਰਮ ਮਲੇਛ ਕੋ ॥੧੯੨੨॥
agan bhe jaravaae khvai ho dharam malechh ko |1922|So that his dharma (characteristic) as malechha remains intact.1922.

ਛੋਰ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕੈ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਭਜਿਯੋ ਜਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
chhor kai sayandan sasatran tayaag kai kaanrah bhajiyo jan traas badtaayo |Leaving his chariot and forsaking his weapons, Krishna fled, frightening everyone
ਵਾਹਿ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਕਿ ਭਜਿਯੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਤੇ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਹੂ ਕੇ ਨਾਇਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਹਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
vaeh lakhiyo ki bhajiyo muhi te mathuraa hoo ke naaeik hvai keh dhaayo |Kalyavana had thought that he had run away, being fearful of him, therefore he pursued Krishna, calling him
ਸੋਵਤ ਥੋ ਮੁਚਕੁੰਦ ਜਹਾ ਸੁ ਤਹਾ ਹੀ ਗਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਇ ਜਗਾਯੋ ॥
sovat tho muchakund jahaa su tahaa hee gayo tih jaae jagaayo |Krishna reached there where Muchukund was sleeping and
ਆਪੁ ਬਚਾਇ ਗਯੋ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਆਵਤ ਥੋ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਜਰਵਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੨੩॥
aap bachaae gayo tan ko ih aavat tho ih ko jaravaayo |1923|He awakened by him by kicking him and then concealed himself, in this way, Krishna saved himself, but got Kalyavana reduced to ashes.1923.

ਆਪਨ ਕੋ ਬਚਵਾਇ ਗਯੋ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਮੁਚਕੁੰਦ ਤੇ ॥
aapan ko bachavaae gayo kaanrah muchakund te |Krishna saved himself from Muchukund, but when Muchukund awoke from sleep and
ਤਜੀ ਨੀਦ ਤਿਹ ਰਾਇ ਹੇਰਤ ਭਸਮ ਮਲੇਛ ਭਯੋ ॥੧੯੨੪॥

ਜਰਿ ਛਾਰ ਮਲੇਛ ਭਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਮੁਚਕੁੰਦ ਪੈ ਤਉ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭੂਖਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
jar chhaar malechh bhayo jab hee muchakund pai tau brijabhookhan aayo |When Kalyavana was burnt and reduced to ashes, then Krishna came to Muchukund
ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੋ ਹੇਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਇਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਯੋ ॥
aavat hee tih kaanrah ko her kai paaein aoopar sees jhukaayo |On seeing Krishna, Muchukund bowed his head at his feet
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੌ ਦੁਖੁ ਥੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਤਨ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਤਾਪ ਬੁਝਾਯੋ ॥
aaur jitau dukh tho tih ko har baatan so tih taap bujhaayo |The Lord Krishna consoled him with his words and instructing Muchukund and
ਐਸੇ ਸਮੋਧਿ ਕੈ ਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਡੇਰਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੧੯੨੫॥
aaise samodh kai taa tih jaar kai sree brij naaeik dderan aayo |1925|Getting Kalyavana reduced to ashes, he went to his home.1925.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਕਾਲ ਜਮਨ ਬਧਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥

ਜਉ ਲਗਿ ਡੇਰਨ ਆਵਤ ਥੋ ਤਬ ਲਉ ਇਕਿ ਆਇ ਸੰਦੇਸ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
jau lag dderan aavat tho tab lau ik aae sandes sunaayo |As soon as Krishna arrived in his tent, someone come to deliver the message,
ਧਾਮ ਚਲੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕਹਾ ਤੁਮ ਪੈ ਸਜਿ ਸੈਨ ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
dhaam chalo brijanaath kahaa tum pai saj sain jaraasandh aayo |“O Krishna! why are going to your home? On that side Jarasandh is coming, bedecked with his army,”
ਅਉ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭਟ ਅਉਰਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
aau sun kai bateeyaa tih kee man mai bhatt aauran traas badtaayo |Hearing these words, the minds of the warriors became fearful
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਹਲੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਆਪਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੨੬॥
sayaam bhanai jadubeer halee at hee man aapan mai sukh paayo |1926|But Krishna and Balram were pleased at this.1926.

ਏਈ ਬਾਤੈ ਕਰਤ ਭਟ ਨਿਜ ਪੁਰ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਆਇ ॥
eee baatai karat bhatt nij pur pahunche aae |Absorbed in this talk, all the warriors reached in the city
ਭੂਪ ਬੈਠਿ ਬੁਧਿਵੰਤ ਸਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਲੀਏ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥੧੯੨੭॥
bhoop baitth budhivant sabh apune lee bulaae |1927|The king Uggarsain then called tall his wise confidents.1927.

jor ghano dal sandh jaraa nrip aayo hai kop abai keh keeyai |The king said, ”Jarasandh is coming in fury with his huge army and
ਸੈਨ ਘਨੋ ਇਹ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪੈ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਬਚਈਯੈ ॥
sain ghano ih kai sang hai jo pai judh karai nahee jaat bacheeyai |We cannot save ourselves with fighting
