ਜੀਤਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਭ ਦੇਸਨ ਕਉ ਸੋਊ ਭਾਜਿ ਗਏ ਜਿਹ ਓਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥

jeet firai sabh desan kau soaoo bhaaj ge jih or nihaare |

Those who conquered all the countries and wherever they looked, the enemies fled away

ਜੋ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੂਝ ਕਰੈ ਤਬ ਅੰਤਕ ਤੇ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਤ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥

jo jam ke sang joojh karai tab antak te neh jaat nivaare |

who fought with Yama and could not then be driven back by Yamaraj,

ਤੇ ਭਟ ਜੂਝਿ ਪਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਕੋਪ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧੭੮੯॥

te bhatt joojh pare ran mai jadubeer ke kop kripaan ke maare |1789|

Who even fought with Yama and whom not even the god of death could kill, those warriors have been killed and laid down on the earth, by the angry sword of Krishna.1789.

ਏਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਬਡੋ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਲਿਲਾਟ ਮੈ ਬਾਨ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥

ek huto balabeer baddo jadubeer lilaatt mai baan lagaayo |

There was a great warrior, (he) shot an arrow in the forehead of Sri Krishna.

ਫੋਕ ਰਹੀ ਗਡਿ ਭਉਹਨਿ ਮੈ ਸਰੁ ਛੇਦ ਸਭੈ ਸਿਰ ਪਾਰ ਪਰਾਯੋ ॥

fok rahee gadd bhauhan mai sar chhed sabhai sir paar paraayo |

A mighty warrior of the enemy’s army shot one arrow on the forehead of Krishna, whose shell remained fixed in the eyebrows, but the arrow pierced through the head to the other side

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਬਰ ਘਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਬਹੁ ਸ੍ਰੋਨ ਬਹਾਯੋ ॥

sayaam kahai upamaa tih kee bar ghaae lage bahu sron bahaayo |

(Poet) Shyam's beautiful simile says that the wound is bleeding profusely,

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਪੈ ਕੋਪੁ ਕੀਯੋ ਸਿਵ ਤੀਸਰੇ ਨੈਨ ਕੋ ਤੇਜ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥੧੭੯੦॥

maanahu indr pai kop keeyo siv teesare nain ko tej dikhaayo |1790|

According to the poet, good deal of blood flowed out from that wound and it seemed that Shiva in anger had shown to Indra the light of his third eye.1790.

ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਮਹਾ ਰਨਧੀਰ ਜਬੈ ਸੁ ਧਵਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਰਥ ਇਉ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ॥

jadubeer mahaa ranadheer jabai su dhavaae pare rath iau keh kai |

When the great Randhir Sri Krishna drove the chariot, he went saying that

ਬਲਿ ਦਛਨ ਓਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਕਿਤੋ ਦਲ ਧਾਯੋ ਹੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਬੈ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ॥

bal dachhan or nihaar kito dal dhaayo hai sasatr sabai geh kai |

Getting his chariot driven, Krishna moved away saying this, “Look, Balram! the enemy’s army is marching forward enormously from the South,”

ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਕੀ ਹਲ ਸੋ ਬਲਿ ਧਾਇ ਲੀਏ ਚਹਿ ਕੈ ॥

bateeyaa sun so brij naaeik kee hal so bal dhaae lee cheh kai |

Hearing Sri Krishna's words like this, Balarama ran and enthusiastically grabbed the 'plough' (and struck).

ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੋਨ ਪਰਿਓ ਭੂਅ ਮੈ ਮਨੋ ਸਾਰਸੁਤੀ ਸੁ ਚਲੀ ਬਹਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੭੯੧॥

tih ko at sron pario bhooa mai mano saarasutee su chalee beh kai |1791|

Listening to the words of Krishna, Balram carrying his plough in great zeal, marched towards that side and so much blood of that army flowed that the Saraswati seemed flow on the earth.1791.

ਏਕ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਆਹਵ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਭਾਗੇ ॥

ek nihaar bhayo at aahav sayaam bhanai taj kai ran bhaage |

Many warriors seeing the dreadfulness of war, fled away

ਘਾਇਲ ਘੂਮਤ ਏਕ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਨੋ ਨੀਦ ਘਨੀ ਨਿਸਿ ਕੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਜਾਗੇ ॥

ghaaeil ghoomat ek firai mano need ghanee nis ke kahoon jaage |

Many of them getting wounded and weak are roaming many of them getting wounded and wak are roaming like the ones having kept awake for several nights

ਪਉਰਖਵੰਤ ਬਡੇ ਭਟ ਏਕ ਸੁ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਜੁਧ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੇ ॥

paurakhavant badde bhatt ek su sayaam so judh hee kau anuraage |

Many very heavy warriors (only) are willing to fight with Sri Krishna.

ਏਕ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਬੈ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਕੇ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਪਾਇਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧੭੯੨॥

ek tayaag kai sasatr sabai jaduraae ke aae kai paaein laagai |1792|

Many great warriors and masters of great strength are absorbed only on fighting with Krishna and many, abandoning their weapons have fallen at the feet of Krishna.1792.
