ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਜਹ ਠਾਢੋ ਹੋ ਤਹ ਹੀ ਪਹੁਚਿਓ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੩੭੦॥

sree jadupat jah tthaadto ho tah hee pahuchio jaae |2370|

Then, getting enraged, the demon Bakatra reached there where Krishna was standing.2370.

SWAYYA

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਕਉ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਆਇ ਆਯੋਧਨ ਬੀਚ ਹਕਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

sree brij naaeik kau jab hee tin aae aayodhan beech hakaariyo |

When he came to the battlefield and challenged Sri Krishna and said,

ਹਉ ਮਰਿਹਉ ਨਹੀ ਯੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁ ਜਿਉ ਸਿਸੁਪਾਲ ਬਲੀ ਤੁਹਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

hau marihau nahee yau kahiyo taeh su jiau sisupaal balee tuhi maariyo |

He challenged Krishna again in the war-arena and said, “The way in which you have killed the brave Shishupal, I shall not die like that

ਐਸੇ ਸੁਨਿਯੋ ਜਬ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਬੈਨ ਤਬੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਪੁਨਿ ਬਾਨ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

aaise suniyo jab sayaam joo bain tabai har joo pun baan sanbhaariyo |

When Krishna ji heard this kind of speech, Sri Krishna again took the arrow.

ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਰਥ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਮੂਰਛ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਭੂ ਪਰ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੩੭੧॥

satru ko sayaam bhanai rath te fun moorachh kai kar bhoo par ddaariyo |2371|

Hearing this, Krishna held his arrow in his hand and made the enemy unconscious and knocked him down on the earth.2371.

ਲੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸੋਊ ਲੋਪ ਗਯੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਆਯੋ ॥

lai sudh hvai soaoo lop gayo fir kop bhariyo ran bheetar aayo |

Recovering his senses, he disappeared (from there) and full of anger again came to the battlefield.

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਬਾਪ ਕੋ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਕਟਿ ਮਾਯਾ ਕੋ ਕੈ ਇਕ ਮੂੰਡ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥

kaanrah ke baap ko kaanrah hee kau katt maayaa ko kai ik moondd dikhaayo |

When the demon Bakatra regained consciousness, he disappeared and then, filled with anger, under the impact of maya, he cut the head of Krishna’s father and showed it to him

ਕੋਪ ਕੀਯੋ ਘਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤਬੈ ਅਰੁ ਨੈਨ ਦੁਹੂਨ ਤੇ ਨੀਰ ਬਹਾਯੋ ॥

kop keeyo ghan sayaam tabai ar nain duhoon te neer bahaayo |

Krishna was extremely infuriated and the tears flowed out of his eyes

ਹਾਥ ਪੈ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਸੁਦਰਸਨ ਲੈ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੈ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥੨੩੭੨॥

haath pai chakr sudarasan lai ar ko sir kaatt kai bhoom giraayo |2372|

Now he took his discus in his hand and cutting the head of the enemy made it fall on the ground.2372.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਸਕੰਧ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਦੰਤ ਬਕਤ੍ਰ ਦੈਤ ਬਧਹ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੰਪੂਰਨੰ ॥

ਜਾਹਿ ਸਿਵਾਦਿਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਮਿਓ ਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

jaeh sivaadik braham nimio su sadaa apane chit beech bichaariyo |

Whom Brahma and Shiva etc. salute, (who) have always contemplated (i.e. brought to mind) in their minds.

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਿਹ ਕਉ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

sayaam bhanai tih kau tab hee kab hee kirapaa nidh roop dikhaariyo |

Those who have remembered in their mind the creator of Brahma, Shiva etc. that Lord, the ocean of mercy appeared before them immediately

ਰੰਗ ਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਉ ਰਾਗ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਇਹੈ ਚਹੂੰ ਬੇਦਨ ਭੇਦ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

rang na roop aau raag na rekh ihai chahoon bedan bhed uchaariyo |

He, who has no form, no colour and no dimension and whose mystery has been uttered by all the four Vedas

ਤਾ ਧਰਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਬਿਖੈ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਰਨ ਬੀਚ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੩੭੩॥

taa dhar moorat judh bikhai ih sayaam bhanai ran beech sanghaariyo |2373|

The same manifesting himself, is busy in killing in the battlefield.2373.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਕੋਪ ਜਬ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਦਏ ਖਪਾਇ ॥

krisan kop jab satr dvai ran mai de khapaae |

When Krishna got angry and destroyed the two enemies in the battlefield,

ਤੀਸਰ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਤ ਬਚਿਯੋ ਸੋ ਤਹ ਪਹੁਚਿਯੋ ਆਇ ॥੨੩੭੪॥

teesar jo jeevat bachiyo so tah pahuchiyo aae |2374|

When Krishna, in his ire, killed two enemies in the fighting and the third one who survived, he also came in the battlefield.2374.

ਦਾਤਨ ਸੋ ਦੋਊ ਹੋਠ ਕਟਿ ਦੋਊ ਨਚਾਵਤ ਨੈਨ ॥

daatan so doaoo hotth katt doaoo nachaavat nain |

He was biting both lips with his teeth and staring with both eyes.

ਤਬ ਹਲਧਰ ਤਿਹ ਸੋ ਕਹੇ ਕਹਿਤ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਏ ਬੈਨ ॥੨੩੭੫॥

tab haladhar tih so kahe kahit sayaam e bain |2375|

Cutting both his lips with his teeth and dancing both his eyes, Balram said this to him,2375

ਕਿਉ ਜੜ ਜੁਧ ਕਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਮਧੁ ਕੀਟਭ ਸੇ ਜਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਖਪਾਏ ॥

kiau jarr judh karai har siau madh keettabh se jih satru khapaae |

“O fool! He, who killed the demons Madhu and Kaitabh

ਰਾਵਨ ਸੇ ਹਰਿਨਾਖਸ ਸੇ ਹਰਿਨਾਛ ਹੂ ਸੇ ਜਗਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥

raavan se harinaakhas se harinaachh hoo se jag jaan na paae |

He, who finished Ravana, Hirannyakashipu,

ਕੰਸਹਿ ਸੇ ਅਰੁ ਸੰਧਿ ਜਰਾ ਸੰਗ ਦੇਸਨ ਦੇਸਨ ਕੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਏ ॥

kanseh se ar sandh jaraa sang desan desan ke nrip aae |

He killed Kansa, Jarasandh and the kings of various countries, why are you fighting with Him?

ਤੈ ਰੇ ਕਹਾ ਅਰੇ ਸੋ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਜਮਲੋਕ ਪਠਾਏ ॥੨੩੭੬॥

tai re kahaa are so chhin mai ih sayaam bhanai jamalok patthaae |2376|

You are nothing, He was despatched very great enemies to the abode of Yama.2376.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਿਜਨਾਥ ਤਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

sree bijanaath tabai tih so kab sayaam kahai ih bhaat uchaariyo |

Then Krishna said this to him, “I killed Bakasura and Aghasura

ਮੈ ਬਕ ਬੀਰ ਅਘਾਸੁਰ ਮਾਰਿ ਸੁ ਕੇਸਨਿ ਤੇ ਗਹਿ ਕੰਸ ਪਛਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

mai bak beer aghaasur maar su kesan te geh kans pachhaariyo |

I knocked down Kansa by catching him from his hair

ਤੇਈ ਛੂਹਨ ਸੰਧਿ ਜਰਾ ਹੂ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੈਨ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

teee chhoohan sandh jaraa hoo kee mai sun sain sudhaar bidaariyo |

“I destroyed Jarasandh alongwith his twenty-three extralarge military units

ਤੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਬਲ ਅਗ੍ਰਜ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਘਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤੇ ਕਉਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੩੭੭॥

tai hamare bal agraj sayaam kahiyo ghan sayaam te kaun bichaariyo |2377|

Now you may tell me, whom do you think stronger than me?”2377.

ਮੋਹਿ ਡਰਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਕਹਿ ਯੌ ਮੁਹਿ ਕੰਸ ਕੋ ਬੀਰ ਬਕੀ ਬਕ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

mohi ddaraavat hai keh yau muhi kans ko beer bakee bak maariyo |

In reply he said, thus scaring me by saying that having killed 'Baki' and 'Bak', the knights of Kansa,

ਸੰਧਿ ਜਰਾ ਹੂ ਕੀ ਸੈਨ ਸਭੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਭਾਖਤ ਹੋ ਛਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

sandh jaraa hoo kee sain sabhai mohi bhaakhat ho chhin maeh sanghaariyo |

Then he replied, “You are frightening me by saying this that you have killed in an instant Kansa, Bakasura and Jarasandh, the armies of Jarasandh etc.

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹੈ ਬਲੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਅਰੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਉਰਖ ਅਗ੍ਰਜ ਕਉਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

mo kau kahai bal tero are mere paurakh agraj kaun bichaariyo |

“You are asking me that who is more powerful than yourself? This is not the tradition of warriors

ਸੂਰਨ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਕਿ ਭਯੋ ਭਠਿਆਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੩੭੮॥

sooran kee ih reet nahee har chhatree hai too ki bhayo bhatthiaariyo |2378|

And O Krishna! are you a Kshatriya or a grain-parcher?2378.

ਆਪਨੇ ਕੋਪ ਕੀ ਪਾਵਕ ਮੈ ਬਲ ਤੇਰੋ ਸਬੈ ਸਮ ਫੂਸ ਜਰੈ ਹੋ ॥

aapane kop kee paavak mai bal tero sabai sam foos jarai ho |

“I shall burn your anger like the blade of grass in the fire of my rage

ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਜਿਤੋ ਤੁਹ ਅੰਗਨ ਮੈ ਸੁ ਸਭੈ ਸਮ ਨੀਰਹ ਕੀ ਆਵਟੈ ਹੋ ॥

sraun jito tuh angan mai su sabhai sam neerah kee aavattai ho |

Whatever blood is in you body, I shall destroy it my boiling like water

ਦੇਗਚਾ ਆਪਨੇ ਪਉਰਖ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਚੜੈ ਹੋ ॥

degachaa aapane paurakh ko ran mai jab hee kab sayaam charrai ho |

Poet Shyam says that when I will offer the cauldron of my bravery in the wilderness,

ਤਉ ਤੇਰੋ ਅੰਗ ਕੋ ਮਾਸੁ ਸਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਭੀਤਰ ਡਾਰ ਕੈ ਆਛੈ ਪਕੈ ਹੋ ॥੨੩੭੯॥

tau tero ang ko maas sabai tih bheetar ddaar kai aachhai pakai ho |2379|

“When I shall place the vessel of my power on the fire of my rage, then the flesh of your limbs will be cooked nicely without any care.”2379.

ਐਸੇ ਬਿਬਾਦ ਕੈ ਆਹਵ ਮੈ ਦੋਊ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਭਰੇ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥

aaise bibaad kai aahav mai doaoo krodh bhare at judh machaayo |

In this way, disputing, both engaged themselves in dreadful fighting in the battlefield

ਬਾਨਨ ਸਿਉ ਦਿਵ ਅਉਰ ਦਿਵਾਕਰਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਉਠੀ ਰਥ ਪਹੀਯਨ ਛਾਯੋ ॥

baanan siau div aaur divaakar dhoor utthee rath paheeyan chhaayo |

The dust arose with the discharge of arrow, which covered all the chariots etc. in order to see the pageant of war.

ਕਉਤੁਕ ਦੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਸਸਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਆਏ ਹੁਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਯੋ ॥

kautuk dekhan kau sas sooraj aae hute tin mangal gaayo |

Surya and Chandra and other gods reached singing songs of praise

ਅੰਤ ਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤੇ ਜੀਤ ਸਕਿਯੋ ਸੋਊ ਅੰਤਹਿ ਕੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਮਿ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੩੮੦॥

ant na sayaam te jeet sakiyo soaoo anteh ke fun dhaam sidhaayo |2380|

The enemy ultimately could not gain victory over Krishna and reached the abode of Yama.2380.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਗਾਢ ਅਯੋਧਨ ॥

sree brijanaath haniyo ar ko kab sayaam kahai kar gaadt ayodhan |

In that dreadful fighting, Krishna killed the enemy

ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਕੁਰੂਪ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਧਰਿ ਜੁਧ ਕੀ ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਬਯਦੂਰਥ ਕੋ ਤਨ ॥

hvai kai kuroop pariyo dhar judh kee taun samai bayadoorath ko tan |

The body of the demon Vidurath god deformed and fell down on the earth

ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਸੰਗ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਯਾ ਉਪਜੀ ਕਰੁਨਾਨਿਧਿ ਕੇ ਮਨਿ ॥

sraunat sang bhariyo pariyo dekh dayaa upajee karunaanidh ke man |

(When) Sri Krishna saw the body covered with blood, (a feeling of) compassion arose in (his) mind.

ਛੋਰਿ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਟੇਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਦਿਨ ਆਜੁ ਕੇ ਤੈ ਕਰਿਹੋ ਨ ਕਬੈ ਰਨ ॥੨੩੮੧॥

chhor saraasan tter kahiyo din aaj ke tai kariho na kabai ran |2381|

Seeing his body smeared with blood, Krishna, filled with mercy and apathy, abandoning his bow and arrows said, “Now from today, I shall nor fight.”2381.
