ਇਸਕਪੇਚ ਦੇ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
eisakapech de taa kee raanee |His queen was (dei) of Iskapech,
ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
sundar des des meh jaanee |1|Which was considered beautiful in the countryside. 1.
ਕਾਜੀ ਬਸਤ ਏਕ ਤਹ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
kaajee basat ek tah bhaaro |A great Qazi lived there.
ਆਰਫ ਦੀਨ ਨਾਮ ਉਜਿਯਾਰੋ ॥
aaraf deen naam ujiyaaro |His brilliant name was Arf Din.
ਸੁਤਾ ਜੇਬਤੁਲ ਨਿਸਾ ਤਵਨ ਕੀ ॥
sutaa jebatul nisaa tavan kee |He had a daughter named Zebtul Nisa
ਸਸਿ ਕੀ ਸੀ ਦੁਤਿ ਲਗਤ ਜਵਨ ਕੀ ॥੨॥
sas kee see dut lagat javan kee |2|Whose image looked like the moon. 2.
ਤਹ ਗੁਲਜਾਰ ਰਾਇ ਇਕ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
tah gulajaar raae ik naamaa |There was a (person) named Gulzar Rai
ਥਕਿਤ ਰਹਤ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਜਿਹ ਬਾਮਾ ॥
thakit rahat nirakhat jih baamaa |Seeing which women used to get tired.
ਸੋ ਕਾਜੀ ਕੀ ਸੁਤਾ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
so kaajee kee sutaa nihaaraa |(When) the Qazi's daughter saw him
ਮਦਨ ਬਾਨ ਤਹ ਤਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
madan baan tah taeh prahaaraa |3|Then Kama shot him with an arrow. 3.
ਹਿਤੂ ਜਾਨਿ ਇਕ ਸਖੀ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
hitoo jaan ik sakhee bulaaee |Knowing Hitu (he) called a Sakhi
ਤਾ ਕਹ ਕਹਾ ਭੇਦ ਸਮਝਾਈ ॥
taa kah kahaa bhed samajhaaee |And explained to him (the whole) secret.
ਜੌ ਤਾ ਕਹ ਤੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਂ ॥
jau taa kah tai mohi milaavain |If you give him to me,
ਮੁਖ ਮਾਗੈ ਸੋਈ ਬਰੁ ਪਾਵੈਂ ॥੪॥
mukh maagai soee bar paavain |4|Then get the boon (reward) asked for. 4.
ਸਖੀ ਗਈ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
sakhee gee tab hee taa ke prat |Sakhi then went to him
ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਦਯੌ ਤਿਨ ਸੁਭ ਮਤਿ ॥
aan milaae dayau tin subh mat |And that auspicious person (lover) came and joined them.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat duhoon kare bilaasaa |Both of them abandoned the fear of parents
ਤਜਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਾ ॥੫॥
taj kar maat pitaa ko traasaa |5|5.
ਅਸ ਗੀ ਅਟਕਿ ਤਵਨ ਪਰ ਤਰੁਨੀ ॥
as gee attak tavan par tarunee |In this way that woman became enamored with him (the youth).
ਜੋਰਿ ਨ ਸਕਤ ਪਲਕ ਸੌ ਬਰਨੀ ॥
jor na sakat palak sau baranee |(She could not connect eyelid ('Bernie') with eyelid when looking at him).
ਰੈਨਿ ਦਿਵਸ ਤਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
rain divas tih prabhaa nihaarai |She used to see his image day and night
ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਜਨਮ ਕਰਿ ਅਪਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥੬॥
dhanay janam kar apan bichaarai |6|And considered her birth as blessed. 6.
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਤਵਨ ਦਿਵਸ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
dhan dhan tavan divas baddabhaagee |(saying) That blessed day is blessed
ਜਿਹ ਦਿਨ ਲਗਨ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
jih din lagan tumaaree laagee |The day you were diligent.
ਅਬ ਕਛੁ ਐਸ ਉਪਾਵ ਬਨੈਯੈ ॥
ab kachh aais upaav banaiyai |Now some such measure should be done
ਜਿਹ ਛਲ ਪਿਯ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧੈਯੈ ॥੭॥
jih chhal piy ke sang sidhaiyai |7|Which can be cheated to go with the beloved. 7.
ਬੋਲਿ ਭੇਦ ਸਭ ਪਿਯਹਿ ਸਿਖਾਯੋ ॥
bol bhed sabh piyeh sikhaayo |He explained the whole secret to Pritam
ਰੋਮਨਾਸ ਤਿਹ ਬਦਨ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥
romanaas tih badan lagaayo |And put Romanasni on his face.
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕੇਸ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
sabh hee kes door kar ddaare |Cleaned all (his) hair.
ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਤ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥੮॥
purakh naar neh jaat bichaare |8|(Now she) could not be considered a man, a woman (seemed to be) ॥8॥
ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭੇਸ ਧਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਬ ॥
sabh triy bhes dharaa preetam jab |When the Beloved took all the guise of a woman,
ਠਾਢਾ ਭਯੋ ਅਦਾਲਤਿ ਮੈ ਤਬ ॥
tthaadtaa bhayo adaalat mai tab |Then he went to court.
ਕਹਿ ਮੁਰ ਚਿਤ ਕਾਜੀ ਸੁਤ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
keh mur chit kaajee sut leenaa |They started saying that my chit has been won by Kazi's son (actually daughter).
ਮੈ ਚਾਹਤ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਪਤਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੯॥
mai chaahat taa kau pat keenaa |9|I want to make him (my) husband. 9.
ਕਾਜੀ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
kaajee kaadt kitaab nihaaree |Kazi opened the book and saw it
ਦੇਖਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਰਿ ਇਹੈ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
dekh dekh kar ihai uchaaree |And when he saw it, he said,
ਜੋ ਆਵੈ ਆਪਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਾਜੀ ॥
jo aavai aapan hvai raajee |who came willingly,
ਤਾ ਕਹ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਤ ਕਛੁ ਕਾਜੀ ॥੧੦॥
taa kah keh na sakat kachh kaajee |10|Qazi cannot say anything to him. 10.
ਯਹ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੁਤ ਕੀ ਭੀ ਦਾਰਾ ॥
yah hamare sut kee bhee daaraa |She has become my son's wife,
ਹਮ ਯਾ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਾ ॥
ham yaa kee kar hai pratipaaraa |Now I will follow it.
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਜੜ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਚੀਨੀ ॥
bhed abhed jarr kachhoo na cheenee |That fool did not understand any difference
ਨਿਰਖਿਤ ਸਾਹ ਮੁਹਰ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੧੧॥
nirakhit saah muhar kar deenee |11|And sealed (of approval) in the sight of the king. 11.
ਮੁਹਰ ਕਰਾਇ ਧਾਮ ਵਹ ਗਯੋ ॥
muhar karaae dhaam vah gayo |After affixing the seal, he went home
ਪੁਰਸ ਭੇਸ ਧਰਿ ਆਵਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
puras bhes dhar aavat bhayo |And the man came in disguise.
ਜਬ ਦਿਨ ਦੁਤਿਯ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
jab din dutiy kachahiree laagee |When the court was called on the second day
ਪਾਤਸਾਹ ਬੈਠੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧੨॥
paatasaah baitthe baddabhaagee |12|And the king with great parts (came) and sat. 12.
ਕਾਜੀ ਕੋਟਵਾਰ ਥੋ ਜਹਾ ॥
kaajee kottavaar tho jahaa |Where Qazi and Kotwal were,
ਪੁਰਖ ਭੇਸ ਧਰਿ ਆਯੋ ਤਹਾ ॥
purakh bhes dhar aayo tahaa |(He) came there disguised as a man.
