ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਕਹਾ ਭਯੋ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਭਯੋ ਭੋਗ ਨ ਚਿਰ ਲੌ ਕੀਨ ॥
kahaa bhayo balavant bhayo bhog na chir lau keen |What happened (if anyone) became stronger. If he could not indulge for a long time
ਆਪ ਨ ਕਛੁ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਨ ॥੭॥
aap na kachh sukh paaeiyo kachh na tarun sukh deen |7|So he did not find happiness himself and did not give happiness to the woman.7.

ਸੋ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਕੋ ਪੁਰਖ ਰਿਝਾਵੈ ॥

ਬਹੁਤ ਚਿਰ ਲਗੈ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
bahut chir lagai bhog kamaavai |One who indulges for a long time.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਐਂਚਿ ਆਪੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਲੇਵੈ ॥
taa ko aainch aap sukh levai |He takes pleasure by pulling it
ਅਪਨੋ ਸੁਖ ਅਬਲਾ ਕੋ ਦੇਵੈ ॥੮॥
apano sukh abalaa ko devai |8|And gives his happiness to the woman.8.
ਐਸੇ ਬਲੀ ਕੈਸ ਕੋਊ ਹੋਈ ॥
aaise balee kais koaoo hoee |Whatever such sacrifice may be,
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਨ ਰੀਝਤ ਕੋਈ ॥
taa par triyaa na reejhat koee |No woman resents him.
ਜੋ ਚਿਰ ਚਿਮਟਿ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
jo chir chimatt kalol kamaavai |Who (the man) wraps around for a long time,
ਵਹੈ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਕੋ ਚਿਤ ਚੁਰਾਵੈ ॥੯॥
vahai tarun ko chit churaavai |9|He can steal a woman's image. 9.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਚਿਮਟਿ ਚਿਮਟਿ ਤਿਹ ਮੀਤ ਸੌ ਗਰੇ ਗਈ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
chimatt chimatt tih meet sau gare gee lapattaae |She hugged her friend tightly.
ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਚਟਾਕੋ ਨਾਥ ਸੁਨਿ ਜਾਗ੍ਯੋ ਨੀਂਦ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧੦॥
sravan chattaako naath sun jaagayo neend gavaae |10|(There her) husband woke up after hearing the sound of chatkas. 10.
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਅਤਿ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
lapatt lapatt at rat karee jaisee karai na koe |(Both of them) engaged in a lot of frolicking, the likes of which no one else does.
ਸ੍ਰਮਿਤ ਭਏ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਤਰੁਨ ਰਹੇ ਤਹਾ ਹੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੧੧॥
sramit bhe tarunee tarun rahe tahaa hee soe |11|Those men and women got tired and slept there. 11.

ਜਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਜਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਸ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥
jab triy jaar sahit svai gee |When the woman fell asleep with her friend
ਪਰੇ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਥ ਤਕਈ ॥
pare pare tih naath takee |So the husband saw them lying.
ਪਕਰੇ ਕੇਸ ਛੁਟੇ ਲਹਲਹੇ ॥
pakare kes chhutte lahalahe |(He took hold of the other man's) scattered hair
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਸਰਪ ਗਾਰਰੂ ਗਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
jaanuk sarap gaararoo gahe |12|As if Mandari (one who knows Garuda Vidya) has caught the snake. 12.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਅੰਗਰੇਜੀ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਛੁਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗ੍ਰੀਵ ਤਕਾਇ ॥
angarejee geh kai chhuree taa kee greev takaae |(The husband) put the ('English') sharp knife on her neck.
ਤਾਨਿਕ ਦਬਾਈ ਇਹ ਦਿਸਾ ਉਹਿ ਦਿਸਿ ਨਿਕਸੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
taanik dabaaee ih disaa uhi dis nikasee jaae |13|A little bit of pressure from this side which came out on the other side. 13.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਛੁਰਕੀ ਭਏ ਜਾਰ ਕੌ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
chhurakee bhe jaar kau ghaayo |Killed (wife's) friend with a knife.
ਨਿਜੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਤਨ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਤਾਯੋ ॥
nij naaree tan kachh na jataayo |But did not tell anything to his wife.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਤਪਤ ਰੁਧਿਰ ਜਬ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ॥
taa ko tapat rudhir jab laagiyo |When he felt warm blood,
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕੋਪਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੋ ਜਾਗਿਯੋ ॥੧੪॥
tab hee kop naar ko jaagiyo |14|Then the anger of the woman woke up. 14.
ਛੁਰਕੀ ਵਹੈ ਹਾਥ ਮੈ ਲਈ ॥
chhurakee vahai haath mai lee |He took the same knife in his hand
ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਪਕਰਿ ਕੰਠ ਮੋ ਦਈ ॥
pat ke pakar kantth mo dee |And grabbed her husband's throat.
ਅਜ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਜਬੈ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
aj jayo taeh jabai kar ddaariyo |Slaughtered him ('Jabai') like a goat ('Aj').
ਬਾਰ ਦੁਹਨ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੫॥
baar duhan ih bhaat pukaariyo |15|Burned both of them and made a noise like this. 15.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਮੋਰੇ ਨਾਥ ਬਿਰਕਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਨ ਕੋ ਕਿਯੋ ਪਯਾਨ ॥
more naath birakat hvai ban ko kiyo payaan |My husband has gone (to live) in Ban because of his displeasure.
ਬਾਰਿ ਸਕਲ ਘਰ ਉਠਿ ਗਏ ਸੰਕਾ ਛਾਡਿ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੧੬॥
baar sakal ghar utth ge sankaa chhaadd nidaan |16|Leaving no doubt, the house has been burnt down. 16.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਉਪਾਇ ਬਨੈਯੈ ॥
taa te kachhoo upaae banaiyai |(Said) For this some measures should be taken.
ਖੋਜਿ ਨਾਥ ਬਨ ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਲਯੈਯੈ ॥
khoj naath ban te grih layaiyai |Nath should be searched from Bun and brought home.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਹੇਰਿ ਪਾਨਿ ਮੈ ਪੀਵੌ ॥
taa ko her paan mai peevau |Seeing him I will drink water
ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਨੈਨਾ ਦੋਊ ਸੀਵੌ ॥੧੭॥
bin dekhai nainaa doaoo seevau |17|And in case of not being able to see, I will sew both eyes. 17.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਖੋਜਿ ਖੋਜਿ ਬਨ ਲੋਗ ਸਭੈ ਆਵਤ ਭਏ ॥
khoj khoj ban log sabhai aavat bhe |After exploring the forest, all the people returned
ਕਹੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਤਵ ਨਾਥ ਨ ਹਾਥ ਕਹੂੰ ਅਏ ॥
kahai triyaa tav naath na haath kahoon ae |And began to say that O woman! Your master is nowhere to be found.
ਆਇ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸਮੁਝਾਵਹੀ ॥
aae nikatt taa kau sabh hee samujhaavahee |Everyone came near him and started explaining.
ਹੋ ਭੂਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਅਜਾਨ ਮਰਮ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਵਹੀ ॥੧੮॥
ho bhoole lok ajaan maram neh paavahee |18|Those naive and ignorant people could not understand the real difference. 18.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਦੋਇ ਸੌ ਦੋ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੨੦੨॥੩੮੦੭॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥
