ਸੰਗੀਤ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੪੬੮॥
sangeet karat bichaar |468|

She was the abode of happiness and her eyes were charming she was thoughtfully singing her musical modes.468.

ਦੁਤਿ ਮਾਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
dut maan roop apaar |

(His) form was of immense brightness.

ਗੁਣਵੰਤ ਸੀਲ ਉਦਾਰ ॥
gunavant seel udaar |

She was pretty, gentle and generous

ਸੁਖ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਰਾਗ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
sukh sindh raag nidhaan |

There was an ocean of happiness and a treasure of ragas

ਹਰਿ ਲੇਤ ਹੇਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥੪੬੯॥
har let herat praan |469|

That lady, the treasure of music, to whichever direction she viewed, she allured everyone.469.

ਅਕਲੰਕ ਜੁਬਨ ਮਾਨ ॥
akalank juban maan |

She was a jobber without stigma.

ਸੁਖ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਥਾਨ ॥
sukh sindh sundar thaan |

That blemishless and honourable lady was an ocean of happiness

ਇਕ ਚਿਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਰਾਗ ॥
eik chit gaavat raag |

She used to sing a raga in a cheerful mood,

ਉਫਟੰਤ ਜਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਗ ॥੪੭੦॥
aufattant jaan suhaag |470|

She was singing with full concentration of mind and the auspicious songs seemed to be springing out from her very interior.470.

ਤਿਹ ਪੇਖ ਕੈ ਜਟਿ ਰਾਜ ॥
tih pekh kai jatt raaj |

Seeing him Jatadhari Yogi Raj (Datta)

ਸੰਗ ਲੀਨ ਜੋਗ ਸਮਾਜ ॥
sang leen jog samaaj |

Seeing her, the king of Yogis gathered all his Yogis and

ਰਹਿ ਰੀਝ ਆਪਨ ਚਿਤ ॥
reh reejh aapan chit |

He was happy in his mind

ਜੁਗ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗ ਪਵਿਤ ॥੪੭੧॥
jug raaj jog pavit |471|

All of them were pleased to see that pure Yogin.471.

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗ ॥
eih bhaat jo har sang |

Thus with Hari

ਹਿਤ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਅਨਭੰਗ ॥
hit keejeeai anabhang |

The king of Yogis thought that if in this way, detaching oneself from all other sides,

ਤਬ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਕ ॥
tab paaeeai har lok |

Then (he) will surely attain Hari-Loka.

ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੋਕ ॥੪੭੨॥
eih baat mai nahee sok |472|

The mind is concentrated on the Lord, then the Lord can be realized without any apprehension.472.

ਚਿਤ ਚਉਪ ਸੋ ਭਰ ਚਾਇ ॥
chit chaup so bhar chaae |

(Datta's) heart was filled with joy and love

ਗੁਰ ਜਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਪਰਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
gur jaan kai par paae |

The enthusiastic sage, accepted her as his Guru, fell at her feet

ਚਿਤ ਤਊਨ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਭੀਨ ॥
chit taoon ke ras bheen |

Chit was drowned in his love.

ਗੁਰੁ ਤੇਈਸਵੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੀਨ ॥੪੭੩॥
gur teeesavo tih keen |473|

Getting absorbed in her love, the king of the sages, adopted her as his Twenty-Third Guru.473.

ਇਤਿ ਜਛਣੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਰਾਗ ਗਾਵਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਈਸਵੋ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥੨੩॥
eit jachhanee naar raag gaavatee guroo teeesavo samaapatan |23|

End of the description of the adoption of a Yaksha woman-singer as the twenty-Third Guru.

ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥

(Now begins the description of the adoption of the Twenty-fourth Guru [carnation])

ਤਬ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ॥
tab bahut barakh pramaan |

TOMAR STANZA

ਚੜਿ ਮੇਰ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਮਹਾਨ ॥
charr mer sring mahaan |

By climbing the great peak of Sumer Parbat

ਕੀਅ ਘੋਰ ਤਪਸਾ ਉਗ੍ਰ ॥
keea ghor tapasaa ugr |

performed severe penance,

ਤਬ ਰੀਝਏ ਕਛੁ ਸੁਗ੍ਰ ॥੪੭੪॥
tab reejhe kachh sugr |474|

Then ascending the Sumeru mountain the sage performed great austerities for many years and felt pleased as the essence-finder.474.

ਜਗ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਿਵਹਾਰ ॥
jag dekh ke bivahaar |

Seeing the behavior of the world,

ਮੁਨਿ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਨ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
mun raaj keen bichaar |

Muni Raj considered that

ਇਨ ਕਉਨ ਸੋ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥
ein kaun so upajaae |

Who creates (the worlds).

ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪੭੫॥
fir let aap milaae |475|

Seeing the practice of the world, the sage thought as to who is He, who creates the world and then merges it within Himself?475.

ਤਿਹ ਚੀਨੀਐ ਕਰਿ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
tih cheeneeai kar giaan |

He should understand with knowledge,

ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਪੂਰਣ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ॥
tab hoe pooran dhayaan |

When He is recognized through the knowledge, then the adoration will be complete

ਤਿਹ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਤ ਜੋਗ ॥
tih jaaneeai jat jog |

He should know Jat (the one who overcomes the senses) through Yoga

ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਦੇਹ ਅਰੋਗ ॥੪੭੬॥
tab hoe deh arog |476|

If He is comprehended through the medium off Yoga, only then the body (and the mind) will be completely healthy.476.

ਤਬ ਏਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਛਾਨ ॥
tab ek purakh pachhaan |

Then a man will be identified.

ਜਗ ਨਾਸ ਜਾਹਿਨ ਜਾਨ ॥
jag naas jaahin jaan |

Then the supreme essence will be known (when it will be realized) that He is also the destroyer of the world

ਸਬ ਜਗਤ ਕੋ ਪਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ॥
sab jagat ko pat dekh |

(who) is seen as the lord of all the worlds,

ਅਨਭਉ ਅਨੰਤ ਅਭੇਖ ॥੪੭੭॥
anbhau anant abhekh |477|

That master of the world is real and Lord is supremely absorbed and He is also beyond all forms.477.

ਬਿਨ ਏਕ ਨਾਹਿਨ ਸਾਤਿ ॥
bin ek naahin saat |

There is no peace without knowing (that) one,

ਸਭ ਤੀਰਥ ਕਿਯੁੰ ਨ ਅਨਾਤ ॥
sabh teerath kiyun na anaat |

There will be no peace without that one Lord the bath at all the pilgrim-stations will be fruitless

ਜਬ ਸੇਵਿਹੋ ਇਕਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
jab seviho ik naam |

When meditating on one name,

ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਪੂਰਣ ਕਾਮ ॥੪੭੮॥
tab hoe pooran kaam |478|

When service will be rendered to him and His Name will be remembered, then all the desires will be fulfilled.478.

ਬਿਨੁ ਏਕ ਚੌਬਿਸ ਫੋਕ ॥
bin ek chauabis fok |

Apart from (that) one, there are twenty-four (teachings of the Gurus).

ਸਬ ਹੀ ਧਰਾ ਸਬ ਲੋਕ ॥
sab hee dharaa sab lok |

Without that One Lord, all the twenty-four incarnation and all others are meaningless

ਜਿਨਿ ਏਕ ਕਉ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥
jin ek kau pahichaan |

Those who have recognized one,

ਤਿਨ ਚਉਬਿਸੋ ਰਸ ਮਾਨ ॥੪੭੯॥
tin chaubiso ras maan |479|

He, who recognizes the One Lord, he will remain jubilant even on adoring all the twenty-four incarnations.479.

ਜੇ ਏਕ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਭੀਨ ॥
je ek ke ras bheen |

who are drenched in one's juice (love),

ਤਿਨਿ ਚਉਬਿਸੋ ਰਸਿ ਲੀਨ ॥
tin chaubiso ras leen |

He, who falls in love with the One Lord, he will feel happy in knowing about the wonderful works of all the twenty-four incarnations

ਜਿਨ ਏਕ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝ ॥
jin ek ko nahee boojh |

Those who have not extinguished one,

ਤਿਹ ਚਉਬਿਸੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੂਝ ॥੪੮੦॥
tih chaubisai nahee soojh |480|

He, who does not recognize the One Lord, he cannot know the mysteries of the twenty-four incarnations.480.

ਜਿਨਿ ਏਕ ਕੌ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਨ ॥
jin ek kau nahee cheen |

Those who have not recognized one,
