ਵਜੇ ਸੰਗਲੀਆਲੇ ਹਾਠਾ ਜੁਟੀਆਂ ॥
vaje sangaleeaale haatthaa jutteean |(When) the chained hooves sounded (then both) parties joined (each other).
ਖੇਤ ਬਹੇ ਮੁਛਾਲੇ ਕਹਰ ਤਤਾਰਚੇ ॥
khet bahe muchhaale kahar tataarache |The big chained trumpets sounded and the rows of soldiers began to fight with one another, the long-whiskered and tyrannical warriors marched forward
ਡਿਗੇ ਵੀਰ ਜੁਝਾਰੇ ਹੂੰਗਾ ਫੁਟੀਆਂ ॥
ddige veer jujhaare hoongaa futteean |The warriors who have fallen. (Their) hungers are coming out.
ਬਕੇ ਜਾਣ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ਭੰਗਾ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੪੬੮॥
bake jaan matavaale bhangaa khaae kai |468|Alongwith them the powerful fighters began to sob on falling in the battlefield.The warriors being intoxicated are shouting like someone shrieking in inebriation after eating hemp. 468
ਓਰੜਏ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਧਗਾ ਵਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
orarre hankaaree dhagaa vaae kai |The proud (heroes) have fallen by sounding the bullies.
ਵਾਹਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਤਰਵਾਰੀ ਸੂਰੇ ਸੂਰਿਆਂ ॥
vaeh fire taravaaree soore sooriaan |The proud warriors marched forward after causing the resonance of big trumpets and began to strike blows with their swords.
ਵਗੈ ਰਤੁ ਝੁਲਾਰੀ ਝਾੜੀ ਕੈਬਰੀ ॥
vagai rat jhulaaree jhaarree kaibaree |A barrage of arrows causes blood to flow like water from springs.
ਪਾਈ ਧੂੰਮ ਲੁਝਾਰੀ ਰਾਵਣ ਰਾਮ ਦੀ ॥੪੬੯॥
paaee dhoonm lujhaaree raavan raam dee |469|With the shower of arrows a continuous stream of blood flowed and this war of Ram and Ravana became famours on all the four sides.469.
ਚੋਬੀ ਧਉਸ ਵਜਾਈ ਸੰਘੁਰ ਮਚਿਆ ॥
chobee dhaus vajaaee sanghur machiaa |When the nagarachis sounded the nagaras, the war started.
ਬਾਹਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਵੈਰਾਈ ਤੁਰੇ ਤਤਾਰਚੇ ॥
baeh firai vairaaee ture tataarache |With the sounding of trumpets a terrible war began and the enemies wandered here and there on the fast-moving steeds
ਹੂਰਾ ਚਿਤ ਵਧਾਈ ਅੰਬਰ ਪੂਰਿਆ ॥
hooraa chit vadhaaee anbar pooriaa |There is joy in the hearts of the Hurons (and with them) the sky is full.
ਜੋਧਿਯਾ ਦੇਖਣ ਤਾਈ ਹੂਲੇ ਹੋਈਆਂ ॥੪੭੦॥
jodhiyaa dekhan taaee hoole hoeean |470|There on the sky the heavenly damsels gathered together with the zeal of wedding the brave warriors and came nearer in order to see them waging the war.470.

ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਰ ਵੀਰ ਕੁਪਯੋ ਕਰਾਲ ॥
eindraar veer kupayo karaal |Meghnad (Indrari) the warrior has done terrible wrath.
ਮੁਕਤੰਤ ਬਾਣ ਗਹਿ ਧਨੁ ਬਿਸਾਲ ॥
mukatant baan geh dhan bisaal |Inderjit in great fury, holding his wide bow, began to discharge arrows
ਥਰਕੰਤ ਲੁਥ ਫਰਕੰਤ ਬਾਹ ॥
tharakant luth farakant baah |Loths are agonizing and arms are parting.
ਜੁਝੰਤ ਸੂਰ ਅਛਰੈ ਉਛਾਹ ॥੪੭੧॥
jujhant soor achharai uchhaah |471|The corpses writhed and the arms of the warriors fluttered the warriors began to fight and the heavenly damsels were filled with joy.471.
ਚਮਕੰਤ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਸਰਖੰਤ ਸੇਲ ॥
chamakant chakr sarakhant sel |Chakras shine, spheres move. The Jats (monsters) are moving,
ਜੁਮੇ ਜਟਾਲ ਜਣ ਗੰਗ ਮੇਲ ॥
jume jattaal jan gang mel |The discs glittered, the lances moved and the fighters with matted hair sped up to fight as if they are going to take a bath in the Ganges.
ਸੰਘਰੇ ਸੂਰ ਆਘਾਇ ਘਾਇ ॥
sanghare soor aaghaae ghaae |Warriors are full of wounds in war.
ਬਰਖੰਤ ਬਾਣ ਚੜ ਚਉਪ ਚਾਇ ॥੪੭੨॥
barakhant baan charr chaup chaae |472|The wounded warriors were killed and on the other hand the warriors began to shower arrows with fourfold zeal.472.
ਸਮੁਲੇ ਸੂਰ ਆਰੁਹੇ ਜੰਗ ॥
samule soor aaruhe jang |Self-sufficient warriors are engaged in war.
ਬਰਖੰਤ ਬਾਣ ਬਿਖ ਧਰ ਸੁਰੰਗ ॥
barakhant baan bikh dhar surang |The frightful warriors entangled in war are showering arrows like poisonous serpents
ਨਭਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਅਲੋਪ ਸਰ ਬਰਖ ਧਾਰ ॥
nabh hvai alop sar barakh dhaar |A series of arrows covered the sky.
ਸਭ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਸੁਮਾਰ ॥੪੭੩॥
sabh aooch neech kine sumaar |473|With the shower of arrows the sky is not visible and there in no differentiation between high and low.473.
ਸਭ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥
sabh sasatr asatr bidiaa prabeen |(Meghnad) is proficient in the knowledge of all weapons and weapons.
ਸਰ ਧਾਰ ਬਰਖ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਚੀਨ ॥
sar dhaar barakh saradaar cheen |All the warriors specialize in the science of weaponry and locating the general they are showering arrows on them

dal sahit bhoom ddige adheer |474|Even Ram, the king of Raghu clan was beguiled and fell on the earth alongwith his army.474.
ਤਬ ਕਹੀ ਦੂਤ ਰਾਵਣਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
tab kahee doot raavaneh jaae |Then the angel went and said to Ravana
ਕਪਿ ਕਟਕ ਆਜੁ ਜੀਤਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
kap kattak aaj jeetayo banaae |Then the messengers went to give the news to Ravana that the forces of monkeys have been defeated
ਸੀਅ ਭਜਹੁ ਆਜੁ ਹੁਐ ਕੈ ਨਿਚੀਤ ॥
seea bhajahu aaj huaai kai nicheet |Be carefree and have fun with Sita today (because).
ਸੰਘਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਣ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਜੀਤ ॥੪੭੫॥
sanghare raam ran indrajeet |475|And he could certainly wed Sita on that day because Inderjit has killed ram in the war.475.
ਤਬ ਕਹੇ ਬੈਣ ਤ੍ਰਿਜਟੀ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
tab kahe bain trijattee bulaae |Then (Ravan) called Trijata (demon) and said
ਰਣ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਰਾਮ ਸੀਤਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
ran mritak raam seeteh dikhaae |Then Ravana called the demoness named Trajata and asked her to show the dead Ram to Sita
ਲੈ ਗਈ ਨਾਥ ਜਹਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਖੇਤ ॥
lai gee naath jeh gire khet |(Trijata took Sita there) where (her) lord Rama Chandra had fallen,
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਯੋ ਸੁਪਤ ਅਚੇਤ ॥੪੭੬॥
mrig maar singh jayo supat achet |476|She rook away Sita from that place with her tantric power to the place where ram was sleeping in unconscious state like a lion after killing the deer.476.
ਸੀਅ ਨਿਰਖ ਨਾਥ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਿਸਾਨ ॥
seea nirakh naath man meh risaan |Sita became angry in the heart of (her) lord (seeing such a condition).
ਦਸ ਅਉਰ ਚਾਰ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
das aaur chaar bidiaa nidhaan |Seeing Ram in such a state, the mind of Sita was filled with extreme agony because Ram was the store-house of fourteen arts and it was impossible to make her believe in such an event
ਪੜ ਨਾਗ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਘਰੀ ਪਾਸ ॥
parr naag mantr sangharee paas |After reciting the snake mantra, he cut the noose
ਪਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਜਯਾਇ ਚਿਤ ਭਯੋ ਹੁਲਾਸ ॥੪੭੭॥
pat bhraat jayaae chit bhayo hulaas |477|Sita went near Ram reciting Nagmantra and reviving both Ram and Lakshman her mind was filled with joy.477.
ਸੀਅ ਗਈ ਜਗੇ ਅੰਗਰਾਇ ਰਾਮ ॥
seea gee jage angaraae raam |(When) Sita went from the (Ran-Bhoomi) (then) Rama woke up and took the garment
ਦਲ ਸਹਿਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਜੁਤ ਧਰਮ ਧਾਮ ॥
dal sahit bhraat jut dharam dhaam |When Sita went back, Ram woke up alongwith his brother and forces.
ਬਜੇ ਸੁ ਨਾਦਿ ਗਜੇ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ॥
baje su naad gaje su beer |(At that time) the trumpets rang out and the warriors roared,
ਸਜੇ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਭਜੇ ਅਧੀਰ ॥੪੭੮॥
saje hathiyaar bhaje adheer |478|The brave fighters thundered bedecking themselves with weapons and the great warriors with power of endurance began to run away from the battlefield.478.
ਸੰਮੁਲੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਰ ਬਰਖ ਜੁਧ ॥
samule soor sar barakh judh |The warriors are ready to shoot the arrows in the war.
ਹਨ ਸਾਲ ਤਾਲ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਾਲ ਕ੍ਰੂਧ ॥
han saal taal bikraal kraoodh |The warriors with frightful prowess began to shower arrows in the war and being highly infuriated began to destroy even the trees
ਤਜਿ ਜੁਧ ਸੁਧ ਸੁਰ ਮੇਘ ਧਰਣ ॥
taj judh sudh sur megh dharan |At that time Meghnad (Sur-Megh) left the thought of war
