ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਗ੍ਯਾ ਤਬ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
kaal purakh aagayaa tab deenee |Kal-purukh' then gave permission
ਬਿਸਨੁ ਚੰਦ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥੨॥
bisan chand soee bidh keenee |2|Then the Immanent Lord ordered Vishnu, who did as commanded.2.
ਮਨੁ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਾਜ ਵਤਾਰ ਅਵਤਰਾ ॥
man hvai raaj vataar avataraa |Manu incarnated as king (Vishnu).
ਮਨੁ ਸਿਮਿਰਿਤਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੁਰ ਜਗਿ ਕਰਾ ॥
man simiriteh prachur jag karaa |Vishnu manifested himself as king Manu and propagated Manu Smriti in the world.
ਸਕਲ ਕੁਪੰਥੀ ਪੰਥਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
sakal kupanthee panth chalaae |Guided all sects (Jains) on the right path
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਮ ਤੇ ਲੋਗ ਹਟਾਏ ॥੩॥
paap karam te log hattaae |3|He brought all the corrupt persons on the right path and cused the people to become devoid of sinful actions.3.
ਰਾਜ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
raaj avataar bhayo man raajaa |The king incarnate (Vishnu) appeared as Manu the king,
ਸਰਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਜੇ ਧਰਮ ਕੇ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
sarab hee siraje dharam ke saajaa |Vishnu incarnated himself as the king Manu and established all the actions of Dgarma.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
paap karaa taa ko geh maaraa |(Whoever) committed a sin, caught him and killed him.
ਸਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕਹੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
sakal prajaa kahu maarag ddaaraa |4|If anyone committed a sin, he was now killed and in this way, the king made all his subjects to tread on the right path.4.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾ ਜਾ ਹੀ ਤਹ ਮਾਰਸ ॥
paap karaa jaa hee tah maaras |Wherever someone committed a sin, there (him) was killed.
ਸਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕਹੁ ਧਰਮ ਸਿਖਾਰਸ ॥
sakal prajaa kahu dharam sikhaaras |The sinner was killed instantly and all the subjects were given instructions on Dharma.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਸਬਹੂਨ ਸਿਖਾਰਾ ॥
naam daan sabahoon sikhaaraa |Everyone was taught the trick of chanting names and giving donations
ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗ ਪੰਥ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
sraavag panth door kar ddaaraa |5|Now all attained the instructions about the Name of the Lord and about virtuous actions like charity etc. And in this way, the king got abandoned the discipline of Sharavaks.5.
ਜੇ ਜੇ ਭਾਜਿ ਦੂਰ ਕਹੁ ਗਏ ॥
je je bhaaj door kahu ge |Those who fled to distant lands,
ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗ ਧਰਮਿ ਸੋਊ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ॥
sraavag dharam soaoo reh ge |The people who had run away from the kingdom of the king Manu, they only remained adherents of Sharavak Religion.
ਅਉਰ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਸਬ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
aaur prajaa sab maarag laaee |All the other people were put on the path of religion
ਕੁਪੰਥ ਪੰਥ ਤੇ ਸੁਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
kupanth panth te supanth chalaaee |6|All the remaining subjects followed the path of Dharma and abandoning the wrong path, acquired the path of Dharma.6.
ਰਾਜ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
raaj avataar bhayo man raajaa |(Thus) Manu became king (as a king-incarnate),
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਜਗ ਮੋ ਭਲੁ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
karam dharam jag mo bhal saajaa |The king Manu was the incarnation of Vishnu and he propagated in the right manner the actions of Dharma.
ਸਕਲ ਕੁਪੰਥੀ ਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
sakal kupanthee panth chalaae |Guided all the miscreants on the right path
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਮ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਲਗਾਏ ॥੭॥
paap karam te dharam lagaae |7|He put all the followers of wrong values on the right path an brought the people towards Dharma, who were absorbed then in sinful action.7.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਪੰਥ ਕੁਪੰਥੀ ਸਬ ਲਗੇ ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗ ਮਤ ਭਯੋ ਦੂਰ ॥
panth kupanthee sab lage sraavag mat bhayo door |All those who tread on the wrong paths, began to follow the right path and in this way, the Sharvak Religion receded far away.
ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਜਗਤ ਮੋ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਜਸੁ ਭਰਪੂਰ ॥੮॥
man raajaa ko jagat mo rahiyo sujas bharapoor |8|For this work, the king Manu was highly venerated in the whole world.8.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸੋਲ੍ਰਹਵਾ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੧੬॥
eit sree bachitr naattake granthe man raajaa avataar solrahavaa samaapatam sat subham sat |16|For this work, the king Manu was MANU, the sixteenth incarnation in BACHITTAR BATAK.16.
ਅਥ ਧਨੰਤਰ ਬੈਦ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath dhanantar baid avataar kathanan |Now begins the description of the incarnation named Dhanantar Vaid:
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
sree bhgautee jee sahaae |Let Sri Bhagauti Ji (The Primal Lord) be helpful.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਸਭ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਭਏ ਜਗ ਲੋਗਾ ॥
sabh dhanavant bhe jag logaa |All the people of the world became rich
ਏਕ ਨ ਰਹਾ ਤਿਨੋ ਤਨ ਸੋਗਾ ॥
ek na rahaa tino tan sogaa |The people of all the world grew wealthy and there remained no anxiety on their body and mind.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਛਤ ਪਕਵਾਨਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat bhachhat pakavaanaa |They used to eat different dishes.
ਉਪਜਤ ਰੋਗ ਦੇਹ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
aupajat rog deh tin naanaa |1|They began to eat various kinds of foods and consequentsly they suffered form various kinds of ailments.1.
ਰੋਗਾਕੁਲ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਭਏ ਲੋਗਾ ॥
rogaakul sabh hee bhe logaa |All the people were afflicted with disease
ਉਪਜਾ ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕੋ ਸੋਗਾ ॥
aupajaa adhik prajaa ko sogaa |All the people got worried about their ailments and the subjects became extremely distressed.
ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੀ ਕਰੀ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
param purakh kee karee baddaaee |(Then all together) praised the Supreme Being
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਪਰ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਈ ॥੨॥
kripaa karee tin par har raaee |2|All of them snag the praises of the Immanent Lord and He become Gracious towards all.2.
ਬਿਸਨ ਚੰਦ ਕੋ ਕਹਾ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
bisan chand ko kahaa bulaaee |Sadke (Kal Purukh) said to Vishnu-
ਧਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਨੰਤਰ ਜਾਈ ॥
dhar avataar dhanantar jaaee |Vishnu was called by the Supreme Lord and ordered to manifest himself in the form of Dhanwantar.
ਆਯੁਰਬੇਦ ਕੋ ਕਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥
aayurabed ko karo prakaasaa |Reveal 'Ayurveda'
ਰੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕੋ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ਨਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
rog prajaa ko kariyahu naasaa |3|He also told him to spread Ayurveda and destroy the ailments of the subjects.3.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਵ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਹੁਐ ਮਥਯੋ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
taa te dev ikatr huaai mathayo samundreh jaae |Then all the gods gathered and churned the ocean,
ਰੋਗ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਹਿਤ ਕਢਯੋ ਧਨੰਤਰ ਰਾਇ ॥੪॥
rog binaasan prajaa hit kadtayo dhanantar raae |4|And for the welfare of the subjects and destruction of their ailments, they acquired Dhanantar from the ocean.4.

ਆਯੁਰਬੇਦ ਤਿਨ ਕੀਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥
aayurabed tin keeyo prakaasaa |That Dhanantari revealed 'Ayurveda' to the world
ਜਗ ਕੇ ਰੋਗ ਕਰੇ ਸਬ ਨਾਸਾ ॥
jag ke rog kare sab naasaa |He spread Ayurveda and destroyed the ailments from the whole world.
ਬਈਦ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਦਿਖਾਵਾ ॥
beed saasatr kahu pragatt dikhaavaa |Revealed the Vedic literature.
