ਬਚਿਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਏਕੈ ਨ ਬਾਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਜੀ ॥
bachiyo beer ekai na baajantr baajee |There are no warriors left and no trumpeters left.
ਮਹਾ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਮਹਾ ਸੈਨ ਭਾਜੀ ॥੫॥
mahaa traas kai kai mahaa sain bhaajee |5|A large army has fled due to great fear. 5.

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਭਾਜਿ ਸੈਨ ਸਭ ਗਯੋ ॥
jab hee bhaaj sain sabh gayo |When the whole army fled
ਕੋਪ ਤਬੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਭਯੋ ॥
kop tabai raajaa ko bhayo |When army started to run away, Raja flew into rage,
ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
saamuhi hvai kai judh machaayo |(He) came forward and made war to see
ਦੇਖਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਵ ਰਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੬॥
dekhan indr dev ran aayo |6|And came forward himself. And to watch him even god Indra descended.(6)
ਬਿਸਨੁ ਦਤ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਸੁਭ ਕਾਰੀ ॥
bisan dat at hee subh kaaree |good warrior named Bisnu Dutt
ਉਹਿ ਦਿਸਿ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
auhi dis ko raajaa hankaaree |The egoist Bishan Datt was the Raja of the other side.
ਸੋ ਆਪਨ ਲਰਬੇ ਕੋ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
so aapan larabe ko dhaayo |He himself came to fight.
ਉਤ ਤੇ ਉਗ੍ਰ ਦਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਯੋ ॥੭॥
aut te ugr dat nrip aayo |7|He himself entered the fight and from this side Raja Uger Sen arrived too.(7)
ਦੋਊ ਸੈਨ ਰਾਵ ਦੋਊ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
doaoo sain raav doaoo lai kai |Both kings took the army
ਰਨ ਕੌ ਚਲੇ ਕੋਪ ਅਤਿ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
ran kau chale kop at kai kai |Both the Rajas marched to the battlefields with their armies.
ਖੜਗ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀ ਚਮਕਾਵਤ ॥
kharrag sool saithee chamakaavat |Swords, tridents and spears shone
ਮਾਰੂ ਰਾਗ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ਗਾਵਤ ॥੮॥
maaroo raag sidhaare gaavat |8|With swords brandishing, they sang war-ballads.(8)
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਤਾਜ ਪਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਸਾਜ ਜਿਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਬਾਜ ਮਰੇ ਗਜਰਾਜ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
taaj pare kahoon saaj jire kahoon baaj mare gajaraaj sanghaare |Somewhere (kings') crowns were lying, someplaces were furniture and armor, some horses and some big elephants were lying dead.
ਗਾਵਤ ਬੀਰ ਬਿਤਾਲ ਫਿਰੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਨਾਚਤ ਭੂਤ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
gaavat beer bitaal firai kahoon naachat bhoot bhayaanak bhaare |Somewhere Bir Baital was roaming around singing and somewhere terrible heavy ghosts were dancing.
ਭੀਤ ਭਜੇ ਲਖਿ ਭੀਰ ਪਰੀ ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਭਰੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਦ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥
bheet bhaje lakh bheer paree at traas bhare sun naad nagaare |Seeing the hour of the crowd and hearing the sound of the townspeople, they ran away in fear.
ਕਾਪਤ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਮਨੌ ਗਨ ਗੋਰਨ ਕੇ ਜਨੁ ਓਰਨ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੯॥
kaapat hai ih bhaat manau gan goran ke jan oran maare |9|They were shaking like this, as if the groups of balls were getting stained like hailstones. 9.
ਏਕ ਮਹਾ ਭਟ ਭੀਰ ਪਰੀ ਲਖਿ ਭੀਤ ਭਏ ਸੁ ਚਲੇ ਭਜਿ ਕੈ ॥
ek mahaa bhatt bheer paree lakh bheet bhe su chale bhaj kai |Many warriors have run away in fear of the terrible crowd.
ਇਕ ਆਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਨ ਟਰੇ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਕਟਾਰਿਨ ਕੌ ਸਜਿ ਕੈ ॥
eik aan pare na ttare ran te karavaar kattaarin kau saj kai |Many have come to the battlefield with daggers and swords and have not stopped.
ਇਕ ਪਾਨਿਹਿ ਪਾਨਿ ਰਟੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਮਾਰਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਹੈ ਗ੍ਰਜਿ ਕੈ ॥
eik paanihi paan rattai mukh te ik maareh maar kahai graj kai |They are asking for water only from one mouth and are shouting for one yard.
ਇਕ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੈ ਇਕ ਸ੍ਵਾਸਿ ਭਰੈ ਇਕ ਆਨਿ ਅਰੈ ਰਜਿਯਾ ਰਜਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੦॥
eik joojh marai ik svaas bharai ik aan arai rajiyaa raj kai |10|Many are fighting, many are breathing and one Rajput is getting satisfied while fighting. 10.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਤਰਫਰਾਹਿ ਸੂਰਾ ਧਰਨਿ ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਸਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
tarafaraeh sooraa dharan barakhiyo saar apaar |Many weapons are gone and warriors are tormented on earth.
ਜੇ ਅਬ੍ਰਿਣੀ ਠਾਢੇ ਹੁਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਣੀ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥੧੧॥
je abrinee tthaadte hute brinee kare karataar |11|Those who were still standing still from the wounds, (they too) have been injured by the Creator. 11.

ਐਸੋ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤ ਤਹ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥
aaiso beer khet tah pariyo |Thus the heroes lay in the battlefield.
ਏਕ ਬੀਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਨ ਉਬਰਿਯੋ ॥
ek beer saabat na ubariyo |Most of the soldiers, while fighting, were injured and none was spared.
ਰਾਜਾ ਜੂ ਖੇਤ ਗਿਰਿ ਗਏ ॥
raajaa joo khet gir ge |The king also fell in the battlefield,
ਜੀਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਨਹਿ ਭਏ ॥੧੨॥
jeevat rahe mritak neh bhe |12|The Raja fell down in the field but was still alive and had not died.(12)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਖੇਤ ਪਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੌ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਭਾਜੇ ਸੁਭਟ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
khet pare nrip kau nirakh bhaaje subhatt anek |Many soldiers ran away seeing the Raja falling down.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੈ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨ ਸੂਰਾ ਏਕ ॥੧੩॥
sayaam bhanai ran bhoom mai rahiyo na sooraa ek |13|As per the poet Shyam Bhine, not a single soldier was left in the field.(13)
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਭਾਰੇ ਭਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਮਹਾ ਨਾਦ ਰਾਨੀ ਹਮ ਮਾਰੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਿਯਤੇ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਹੈ ॥
bhaare bhaare sooramaa pukaarai kai kai mahaa naad raanee ham maare raajaa jiyate sanghaar hai |The big warriors shouted loudly to the queen (saying) We have been killed and the king has also been buried alive.
ਕੇਤੇ ਰਥ ਟੂਟੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਸੂਰਨ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਫੂਟੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਹਯ ਛੂਟੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਹਯਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ਹੈ ॥
kete rath ttootte kete sooran ke sees footte kete hay chhootte kete hayahoon prahaare hai |Many chariots have been broken and many warriors' heads have been split. Many horses have run away and many horses have been killed.
ਕੇਤੇ ਕਰੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਜੁਧ ਤੇ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਪੈਦਲ ਲਤਾਰੇ ਹੈ ॥
kete karee maare kete kareh bidaare kete judh te nivaare kete paidal lataare hai |How many elephants have been killed and how many have been mutilated. Many have fled the war and many foot soldiers have been trampled.
ਲੋਹ ਕੇ ਕਰਾਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਹੂੰ ਉਤਾਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਖੰਡੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਖੰਡ ਤੇ ਅਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਡਾਰੇ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
loh ke karaare kete asv hoon utaare kete khandde jin khandd te akhandd khandd ddaare hai |14|Many of the gunners have been thrown from their horses with harshness. Some were broken with pieces of wood and those who could not be broken were cut into pieces. 14.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Self:
ਜੋਰਿ ਸਭਾ ਸੁਭ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਡੇ ਭਟ ਔਰ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਹੌ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
jor sabhaa subh bol badde bhatt aauar upaae kahau su karai |Some very brave soldiers came and called aloud,
ਉਨ ਸੂਰਨ ਤੇ ਨਹਿ ਏਕ ਬਚਿਯੋ ਦੁਖ ਹੈ ਛਤਿਯਾ ਕਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਰੈ ॥
aun sooran te neh ek bachiyo dukh hai chhatiyaa kih bhaat bharai |‘Dear Rani, we have lost, may be, but our Raja is not dead.
ਕ੍ਯੋ ਨ ਦੇਹੁ ਬਨਾਇ ਬਡੇ ਦਲ ਕੌ ਸੰਗ ਜਾਇ ਤਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੈ ॥
kayo na dehu banaae badde dal kau sang jaae tahee fir joojh marai |‘Although, many hands have been cut, many have lost their heads, ‘Many horses have absconded, many elephants are dead,
ਫਿਰਿ ਹੈ ਕਿਧੌ ਜੀਤਿ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਕੋ ਨਹਿ ਰਾਇ ਮਰੇ ਤਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਮਰੈ ॥੧੫॥
fir hai kidhau jeet ayodhan ko neh raae mare tahee jaae marai |15|‘Many camels have run away, many foot soldiers have been rundown, ‘And many chariots have been destroyed.’(15)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਮਾਰੂ ਮੰਡੇ ਕੰਤ ਜੁਝਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
bhaat bhaat maaroo mandde kant jujhiyo ran maeh |All kinds of death cries started to be heard that the husband had died fighting in the war.
ਸਾਜਿ ਸੈਨ ਚਤੁਰੰਗਨੀ ਚਲਹੁ ਤਹਾ ਕਹ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੬॥
