ਜੂਝਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਗੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਫਿਰੇ ॥੧੩॥
joojh joojh ge bahur na fire |13|They went (died) after fighting and did not return. 13.
ਕੋਟਿਕ ਕਟਕ ਤਹਾ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੇ ॥
kottik kattak tahaa katt mare |Many warriors were cut down and died there.
ਜੂਝੇ ਗਿਰੇ ਬਰੰਗਨਿਨ ਬਰੇ ॥
joojhe gire baranganin bare |They fell fighting and the fairies married (them).
ਦੋਊ ਦਿਸਿ ਮਰੇ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰੇ ॥
doaoo dis mare kaal ke prere |Call-inspired warriors died on both sides.
ਗਿਰੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਰਨ ਫਿਰੇ ਨ ਫੇਰੇ ॥੧੪॥
gire bhoom ran fire na fere |14|(Shurvir) fell on the earth and did not return again. 14.
ਸਤਿ ਸੰਧਿ ਦੇਵਿਸ ਇਤ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
sat sandh devis it dhaayo |From this side, the Lord of the Gods, Sat Sandhi ascended
ਦੀਰਘ ਦਾੜ ਉਹ ਓਰ ਰਿਸਾਯੋ ॥
deeragh daarr uh or risaayo |And from that side Dirgh Dar got angry.
ਬਜ੍ਰ ਬਾਣ ਬਿਛੂਆ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਣ ॥
bajr baan bichhooaa kai kai bran |Brave with thunderbolts and scorpions
ਜੂਝਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਭਟ ਗਿਰਤ ਭਏ ਰਣ ॥੧੫॥
joojh joojh bhatt girat bhe ran |15|They were falling in the battlefield after fighting. 15.
ਜੋਗਿਨਿ ਜਛ ਕਹੂੰ ਹਰਖਏ ॥
jogin jachh kahoon harakhe |Somewhere Jogans and Yaksas were rejoicing
ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਨਾਚਤ ਕਹੂੰ ਭਏ ॥
bhoot pret naachat kahoon bhe |And somewhere ghosts were dancing.
ਕਹ ਕਹ ਕਹ ਕਲਿ ਹਾਸ ਸੁਨਾਵਤ ॥
kah kah kah kal haas sunaavat |Kal ('Kali') was shouting 'Kah Kah'.
ਭੀਖਨ ਸੁਨੈ ਸਬਦ ਭੈ ਆਵਤ ॥੧੬॥
bheekhan sunai sabad bhai aavat |16|(He) used to feel fear after hearing the terrible sound. 16.
ਫਿਰੈਂ ਦੈਤ ਕਹੂੰ ਦਾਤ ਨਿਕਾਰੇ ॥
firain dait kahoon daat nikaare |Somewhere the giants were gnashing their teeth,
ਬਮਤ ਸ੍ਰੋਨ ਕੇਤੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
bamat sron kete ran maare |How many (soldiers) were vomiting the blood of those killed in the battle.
ਕਹੂੰ ਸਿਵਾ ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਫਿਕਰਾਹੀ ॥
kahoon sivaa saamuhi fikaraahee |Somewhere the jackal was speaking in front
ਭੂਤ ਪਿਸਾਚ ਮਾਸ ਕਹੂੰ ਖਾਹੀ ॥੧੭॥
bhoot pisaach maas kahoon khaahee |17|And somewhere ghosts and vampires were eating the meat. 17.
ਸਕਟਾਬ੍ਰਯੂਹ ਰਚਾ ਸੁਰ ਪਤਿ ਤਬ ॥
sakattaabrayooh rachaa sur pat tab |When the king of the demons built the 'Crachabyuh' (i.e. military enclosure in the shape of a crouch-stork),
ਕ੍ਰੌਚਾਬ੍ਰਯੂਹ ਕਿਯੋ ਅਸੁਰਿਸ ਜਬ ॥
krauachaabrayooh kiyo asuris jab |Then the Lord of the Gods created the 'Skatabyuha' (ie a military unit organized in the form of chariots in war).
ਮਚਿਯੋ ਤੁਮਲ ਜੁਧ ਤਹ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
machiyo tumal judh tah bhaaree |There was a very bitter war
ਗਰਜਤ ਭਏ ਬੀਰ ਬਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧੮॥
garajat bhe beer bal dhaaree |18|And the mighty warriors roared. 18.
ਜੂਝਿ ਗਏ ਜੋਧਾ ਕਹੀ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
joojh ge jodhaa kahee bhaare |Somewhere great warriors were fighting.
ਦੇਵ ਗਿਰੇ ਦਾਨਵ ਕਹੀ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
dev gire daanav kahee maare |Some gods and some giants were lying dead.
ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤ ਐਸਾ ਤਹ ਪਰਾ ॥
beer khet aaisaa tah paraa |So many heroes had fallen in the battlefield
ਦੋਊ ਦਿਸਿ ਇਕ ਸੁਭਟ ਨ ਉਬਰਾ ॥੧੯॥
doaoo dis ik subhatt na ubaraa |19|That there was not a single warrior left on both sides. 19.
ਜੌ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਾਊਾਂ ॥
jau kram kram kar kathaa sunaaooaan |If I tell the serial story
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਬਢਨ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਡਰਾਊਾਂ ॥
granth badtan te adhik ddaraaooaan |So I am afraid that the scriptures will become big.
ਤੀਸ ਸਹਸ ਛੂਹਨਿ ਜਹ ਜੋਧਾ ॥
tees sahas chhoohan jah jodhaa |Where there were thirty thousand untouchable warriors,
ਮੰਡ੍ਰਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਾ ॥੨੦॥
manddrayo beer khet kar krodhaa |20|(All of them) got angry and started a war. 20.
ਪਤਿਅਨ ਸੋ ਪਤੀਅਨ ਭਿਰਿ ਮਰੇ ॥
patian so pateean bhir mare |Commanders died fighting commanders.
ਸ੍ਵਾਰਨ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਰਨ ਛੈ ਕਰੇ ॥
svaaran ke svaaran chhai kare |Riders destroy riders.
ਰਥਿਯਨ ਤਹ ਰਥਿਯਨ ਕੌ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
rathiyan tah rathiyan kau ghaayo |The charioteers killed the charioteers.
ਹਾਥਿਨ ਦੰਤੀ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੨੧॥
haathin dantee svarag patthaayo |21|The elephants sent the elephants to heaven. 21.
ਦਲਪਤਿ ਸੌ ਦਲਪਤਿ ਲਰਿ ਮੂਆ ॥
dalapat sau dalapat lar mooaa |Dalpatis fought with Dalpatis.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਾਸ ਕਟਕ ਕਾ ਹੂਆ ॥
eih bidh naas kattak kaa hooaa |Thus the (whole) army perished.
ਬਚੇ ਭੂਪ ਤੇ ਕੋਪ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
bache bhoop te kop baddaaee |(Those) kings who were left, increased their anger
ਮਾਡਤ ਭੇ ਹਠ ਠਾਨਿ ਲਰਾਈ ॥੨੨॥
maaddat bhe hatth tthaan laraaee |22|They started fighting stubbornly. 22.
ਰਨ ਮਾਡਤ ਭੇ ਬਿਬਿਧ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
ran maaddat bhe bibidh prakaaraa |King of Demons and Lord of Gods
ਦੈਤ ਰਾਟ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਰਾ ॥
dait raatt ar dev nripaaraa |He began to fight in many ways.
ਰਸਨਾ ਇਤੀ ਨ ਭਾਖ ਸੁਨਾਊਾਂ ॥
rasanaa itee na bhaakh sunaaooaan |My tongue is not strong enough to describe (everything).
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਬਢਨ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਡਰਪਾਊਾਂ ॥੨੩॥
granth badtan te at ddarapaaooaan |23|I am also afraid of Granth getting bigger. 23.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang prayaat chhand |Bhujang Prayat Verse:
ਕਹਾ ਲੌ ਬਖਾਨੌ ਮਹਾ ਲੋਹ ਮਚਿਯੋ ॥
kahaa lau bakhaanau mahaa loh machiyo |As far as I can describe, (there was) a very bitter war.
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਬੀਰ ਏਕੈ ਨ ਬਚਿਯੋ ॥
duhoon or te beer ekai na bachiyo |Not a single warrior was left from either side.
ਤਬੈ ਆਨਿ ਜੂਟੇ ਦੋਊ ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ॥
tabai aan jootte doaoo chhatradhaaree |Then both Chhatradharis came and joined (together).
ਪਰਾ ਲੋਹ ਗਾੜੋ ਕੰਪੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥
paraa loh gaarro kanpee bhoom saaree |24|There was a very heavy war and the whole earth began to tremble. 24.
ਜੁਟੇ ਰਾਵ ਦੋਊ ਉਠੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਐਸੀ ॥
jutte raav doaoo utthee dhoor aaisee |The two kings clashed (with each other) and such dust flew up,
ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੀ ਧੂਮ੍ਰ ਜੈਸੀ ॥
pralai kaal kee agan kee dhoomr jaisee |Like the smoke of a fire during a flood.
