ਮੁਖ ਸੋ ਨਰ ਹਾਡਨ ਚਾਬਤ ਹੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਦਾਤ ਸੇ ਦਾਤ ਬਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ॥
mukh so nar haaddan chaabat hai pun daat se daat baje tin ke |They were crushing the human bones in their mouths and their teeth were clattering
ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਕੇ ਅਖੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗ ਕੌਨ ਭਿਰੈ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਇਨ ਕੇ ॥
sar sraunat ke akheean jin kee sang kauan bhirai bal kai in ke |Their eyes were like the sea of blood
ਸਰ ਚਾਪ ਚਢਾਇ ਕੈ ਰੈਨ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਬ ਕਾਮ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਪਾਪਨ ਕੇ ॥੧੪੬੪॥
sar chaap chadtaae kai rain firai sab kaam karai nit paapan ke |1464|Who could fight with them? They were the wielders of bows and arrows, roaming throughout the nights and always absorbed in vicious acts.1464.
ਧਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਉਤ ਰਾਛਸ ਭੂਪ ਇਤੇ ਥਿਰ ਠਾਢੋ ਰਹਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
dhaae pare mil kai ut raachhas bhoop ite thir tthaadto rahio hai |From that side the demons fell upon him and from this side the king stood firmly peacefully
ਡਾਢ ਸੁ ਕੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਰਿਸਿ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
ddaadt su kai apane man ko ris satran ko ih bhaat kahio hai |Then, strengthening his mind and in rage, he said this to the enemies:
ਆਜ ਸਬੈ ਹਨਿ ਹੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਹਿ ਯੌ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਧਨੁ ਬਾਨ ਗਹਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
aaj sabai han ho ran mai keh yau bateeyaa dhan baan gahio hai |“Today I shall knock down all of you,” saying this, he held up his bow and arrows
ਯੌ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਧੀਰਜ ਪੇਖ ਕੈ ਦਾਨਵ ਕੋ ਦਲ ਰੀਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੬੫॥
yau nrip ko at dheeraj pekh kai daanav ko dal reejh rahio hai |1465|Seeing the endurance of the king Kharag Singh, the army of demons felt pleased.1465.
ਤਾਨਿ ਕਮਾਨ ਮਹਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸੁ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
taan kamaan mahaa balavaan su satran ko bahu baan chalaae |Pulling his bow, that mighty warrior showered his arrows on the enemies
ਏਕਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਜ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਈ ਰਿਸਿ ਏਕਨ ਕੇ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਸਰ ਲਾਏ ॥
ekan kee bhuj kaatt dee ris ekan ke ur mai sar laae |He chopped someone’s arm and in his rage, he discharged his arrow on someone’s chest
ਘਾਇਲ ਏਕ ਗਿਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੋ ਲਖਿ ਕਾਇਰ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਖੇਤ ਪਰਾਏ ॥
ghaaeil ek gire ran mo lakh kaaeir chhaadd kai khet paraae |Someone, having been wounded fell down in the battlefield and some coward seeing the dreadful war ran away
ਏਕ ਮਹਾ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਦਯੰਤ ਰਹੇ ਥਿਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਤਿਨ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥੧੪੬੬॥
ek mahaa balavant dayant rahe thir hvai tin bain sunaae |1466|Only one powerful demon survived there, who stabilising himself said to the king,1466
ਕਾਹੇ ਕੋ ਜੂਝ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਨ ਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤੋਹੂ ਕੋ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
kaahe ko joojh kare sun re nrip tohoo ko jeevat jaan na dai hai |“O king! why are you fighting? We will not let you go alive
ਦੀਰਘ ਦੇਹ ਸਲੋਨੀ ਸੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਤੋ ਸਮ ਭਛ ਕਹਾ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਹੈ ॥
deeragh deh salonee see moorat to sam bhachh kahaa ham pai hai |Your body is long and elegant, where shall we get such food?
ਤੂ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਸੁਨ ਰੇ ਸਠ ਤੋ ਕਹੁ ਦਾਤਨ ਸਾਥ ਚਬੈ ਹੈ ॥
too nahee jaanat hai sun re satth to kahu daatan saath chabai hai |“O fool! you do now know that we shall chew you with our teeth
ਤੋਹੀ ਕੇ ਮਾਸ ਕੇ ਖੰਡਨ ਖੰਡ ਕੈ ਪਾਵਕ ਬਾਨ ਮੈ ਭੁੰਜ ਕੈ ਖੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੬੭॥
tohee ke maas ke khanddan khandd kai paavak baan mai bhunj kai khai hai |1467|We shall roast the bits of your flesh with the fire of our arrows and devour them.”1467.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਯੌ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਬੈਨ ਕੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬੋਲਿਓ ਰਿਸ ਖਾਇ ॥
yau sun kai tih bain ko nrip bolio ris khaae |Hearing their words like this, the king (Kharag Singh) became angry and said,
ਜੋ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਭਜਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੂਧ ਅਪਾਇ ॥੧੪੬੮॥
jo ham te bhaj jaae tih maataa doodh apaae |1468|Hearing these words, the king spoke in anger, “He, who goes away safe from me, may consider that he has released himself from the bondage of milk of his mother.”1468.
ਏਕੁ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਦਾਨਵੀ ਸੈਨ ਪਰੀ ਸਬ ਧਾਇ ॥
ek bain sun daanavee sain paree sab dhaae |Hearing (this) single word, the entire giant army fell down (on the king).
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਘੇਰਿਓ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਖੇਤ ਬਾਰ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਇ ॥੧੪੬੯॥
chahoon or gherio nripat khet baar kee niaae |1469|Hearing these words, the demon army fell upon the king and besieged him all the four sides like the fence of the field.1469.

ਅਸੁਰਨ ਘੇਰ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
asuran gher kharrag singh leeno |(When) the giants surrounded Kharag Singh,
ਤਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋਪ ਘਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
tab nrip kop ghano man keeno |When the demons besieged the king, who became extremely enraged in his mind
ਧਨੁਖ ਬਾਨ ਕਰ ਬੀਚ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
dhanukh baan kar beech sanbhaare |Holding a bow and arrow in hand
