ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਫੇਰਿ ਉਠੀ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਪਰਿ ਪਾਇਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਰੀ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
fer utthee jasudaa par paaein taa kee karee bahu bhaat baddaaee |Then Yashoda got up from the feet of Krishna and she eulogized Krishna in many ways
ਹੇ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਹੇ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਜਾਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਮਮ ਮਾਈ ॥
he jag ke pat he karunaa nidh hoe ajaan kahio mam maaee |“O Lord! Thou art the master of the world and the ocean of mercy, I had considered myself the mother in ignorance
ਸਾਰੇ ਛਿਮੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਅਉਗਨ ਹੁਇ ਮਤਿਮੰਦਿ ਕਰੀ ਜੁ ਢਿਠਾਈ ॥
saare chhimo hamaro tum aaugan hue matimand karee ju dtitthaaee |“I am of low intellect, forgive all my vices
ਮੀਟ ਲਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤਿਹ ਪੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਡਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਛਿਪਾਈ ॥੧੩੫॥
meett layo mukh tau har jee tih pai mamataa ddar baat chhipaaee |135|” Then Hari (Krishna) closed his mouth and concealed this fact under the impact of affection.135.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਕਰੁਨਾ ਕੈ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹੈ ਇਮ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਸੋ ਖੇਲਬੇ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਤੋਰਿ ਲਿਆਏ ਗੋਪ ਬਨ ਸੌ ॥
karunaa kai jasudhaa kahiyo hai im gopin so khelabe ke kaaj tor liaae gop ban sau |Jasodha graciously told the gopis that the gawal boys had broken sticks (small pieces) from the buns to play with.
ਬਾਰਕੋ ਕੇ ਕਹੇ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਨ ਆਪਨੇ ਮੈ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਤਨ ਲਾਗੀ ਛੂਛਕਨ ਸੌ ॥
baarako ke kahe kar krodh man aapane mai sayaam ko prahaar tan laagee chhoochhakan sau |Yashoda very kindly allowed Krishna to go and play in the forest alongwith the children of gopas, but on complaint of other children the mother began to beat Krishna again with sticks
ਦੇਖਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਲਾਸਨ ਕੌ ਰੋਵੈ ਸੁਤ ਰੋਵੈ ਮਾਤ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਸੌ ॥
dekh dekh laasan kau rovai sut rovai maat kahai kab sayaam mahaa mohi kar man sau |Then seeing the marks of sticks on the body of Krishna, the mother, in attachment, began to weep
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਸਭੋ ਮਾਰਬੇ ਕੀ ਕਹਾ ਚਲੀ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਨ ਬੋਲੀਐ ਰੀ ਐਸੇ ਸਾਧੁ ਜਨ ਸੌ ॥੧੩੬॥
raam raam keh sabho maarabe kee kahaa chalee saamuhe na boleeai ree aaise saadh jan sau |136|The poet Shyam says that beating of such a saintly personality cannot be thought about, one should not even get angry before him.136.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |DOHRA
ਖੀਰ ਬਿਲੋਵਨ ਕੌ ਉਠੀ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
kheer bilovan kau utthee jasudaa har kee maae |The mother Yashoda has got up to churn the curd
ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਗਾਵੈ ਪੂਤ ਗੁਨ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੩੭॥
mukh te gaavai poot gun mahimaa kahee na jaae |137|She is uttering a eulogy of her son from her mouth and his praise cannot be described.137.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਏਕ ਸਮੈ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਖੀਰ ਮਥੇ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਕੈ ਮਧਾਨੀ ॥
ek samai jasudhaa sang gopin kheer mathe kar lai kai madhaanee |Once Yashoda was churning the curd alongwith the gopis
ਊਪਰ ਕੋ ਕਟਿ ਸੌ ਕਸਿ ਕੈ ਪਟਰੋ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
aoopar ko katt sau kas kai pattaro man mai har jot samaanee |She had tied her waist and she was meditating on Krishna
ਘੰਟਕਾ ਛੁਦ੍ਰ ਕਸੀ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਜੁ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
ghanttakaa chhudr kasee tih aoopar sayaam kahee tih kee ju kahaanee |There were small bells tightened over the girdle
ਦਾਨ ਔ ਪ੍ਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਭ ਗਾਵਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥੧੩੮॥
daan aau praakram kee sudh kai mukh tai har kee subh gaavat baanee |138|The poet Shyam says that the charity and the glory of austerity cannot be described the mother, in delight, is singing the songs about Krishna from her mouth.138.
ਖੀਰ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਕੁਚਿ ਤਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
kheer bhariyo jab hee tih ko kuch tau har jee tab hee fun jaage |When the teats of mother Yashoda were filled with milk, then Krishna awoke
ਪਯ ਸੁ ਪਿਆਵਹੁ ਹੇ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜੀ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਰਸਿ ਮੈ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੇ ॥
pay su piaavahu he jasudaa prabh jee ih hee ras mai anuraage |She began to give him milk and Krishna was absorbed in that pleasure
ਦੂਧ ਫਟਿਯੋ ਹੁਇ ਬਾਸਨ ਤੇ ਤਬ ਧਾਇ ਚਲੀ ਇਹ ਰੋਵਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
doodh fattiyo hue baasan te tab dhaae chalee ih rovan laage |On the other side, the milk in the vessel turned sour, thinking about that vessel, the mother went to see it, then Krishna began to weep
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰਿਓ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਪੈ ਘਰਿ ਤੇ ਉਠਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਾਗੇ ॥੧੩੯॥
krodh kario man mai brij ke pat pai ghar te utth baahar bhaage |139|He (the king of Braja) got so much angry that he ran out from the house.139.
