ਅਪਨੋ ਬਿਪ ਕਹ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਵੈ ॥
apano bip kah sees jhukaavai |Then the Brahmin would bow his head.
ਜੋ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਦਿਜ ਦੇਤ ਸੁ ਲੇਹੀ ॥
jo sikhayaa dij det su lehee |They used to get what education Brahmin gave
ਅਮਿਤ ਦਰਬ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਹ ਦੇਹੀ ॥੮॥
amit darab panddit kah dehee |8|And used to give a lot of money to Brahmins.8.
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਅਗਮਨੋ ਗਈ ॥
eik din kuar agamano gee |One day Raj Kumari left first
ਦਿਜ ਕਹ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਵਤ ਭਈ ॥
dij kah sees jhukaavat bhee |and bowed his head to the Brahmin.
ਸਾਲਿਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਪੂਜਤ ਥਾ ਦਿਜਬਰ ॥
saaligraam poojat thaa dijabar |Brahmins bowed their heads with each other
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਸੀਸ ਨ੍ਯਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥੯॥
bhaat bhaat tih sees nayaae kar |9|Was worshiping Salgram. 9.
ਤਾ ਕੌ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਮੁਸਕਾਨੀ ॥
taa kau nirakh kuar musakaanee |Seeing him, Raj Kumari laughed
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਮਾ ਪਾਹਨ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੀ ॥
so pratimaa paahan pahichaanee |And thought that idol to be a stone.
ਤਾਹਿ ਕਹਾ ਪੂਜਤ ਕਿਹ ਨਮਿਤਿਹ ॥
taeh kahaa poojat kih namitih |He (the Brahmin) started asking for what purpose he is worshiping
ਸਿਰ ਨਾਵਤ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਜਿਹ ॥੧੦॥
sir naavat kar jor kaaj jih |10|And for whom are you bowing your head with folded hands. 10.
ਦਿਜ ਬਾਚ ॥
dij baach |Brahmin said:
ਸਾਲਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਏ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
saalagraam tthaakur e baalaa |O Raj Kumari! This is Salgram Thakur
ਪੂਜਤ ਜਿਨੈ ਬਡੇ ਨਰਪਾਲਾ ॥
poojat jinai badde narapaalaa |Who is worshiped by great kings.
ਤੈ ਅਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਇਹ ਕਹਾ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
tai agayaan ih kahaa pachhaanai |What do you fool think of this?
ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕਹ ਪਾਹਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥੧੧॥
paramesvar kah paahan jaanai |11|Considering God as a stone. 11.
ਰਾਜਾ ਸੁਤ ਬਾਚ ॥
raajaa sut baach |Raj Kumari said:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Self:
ਤਾਹਿ ਪਛਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਨ ਮਹਾ ਜੜ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਪੁਰ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
taeh pachhaanat hai na mahaa jarr jaa ko prataap tihoon pur maahee |O great fool! You do not recognize Him whose glory is (spread) among the three peoples.
ਪੂਜਤ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੌ ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਪਰਸੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਪਰਾਹੀ ॥
poojat hai prabh kai tis kau jin ke parase paralok paraahee |He is worshiped as Lord, by whose worship the Hereafter (also) is removed.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰੋ ਪਰਮਾਰਥ ਕੈ ਜਿਹ ਪਾਪਨ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਪਾਪ ਡਰਾਹੀ ॥
paap karo paramaarath kai jih paapan te at paap ddaraahee |He commits sins for the sake of self-sacrifice.
ਪਾਇ ਪਰੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕੇ ਪਸੁ ਪਾਹਨ ਮੈ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧੨॥
paae paro paramesvar ke pas paahan mai paramesvar naahee |12|O fool! Fall at God's feet, there is no God in stones. 12.
ਬਿਜੈ ਛੰਦ ॥
bijai chhand |Bijay Chand:
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੈ ਜਲ ਮੈ ਥਲ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਰੂਪਨ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਭੂਪਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
jeevan mai jal mai thal mai sabh roopan mai sabh bhoopan maahee |(He is God) in all beings, in water, in earth, in all forms and in all kings,
ਸੂਰਜ ਮੈ ਸਸਿ ਮੈ ਨਭ ਮੈ ਜਹ ਹੇਰੌ ਤਹਾ ਚਿਤ ਲਾਇ ਤਹਾ ਹੀ ॥
sooraj mai sas mai nabh mai jah herau tahaa chit laae tahaa hee |In the sun, in the moon, in the sky, wherever you see, there (can be obtained) by placing the chit.
ਪਾਵਕ ਮੈ ਅਰੁ ਪੌਨ ਹੂੰ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਤਲ ਮੈ ਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
paavak mai ar pauan hoon mai prithavee tal mai su kahaa neh jaahee |In the fire, in the wind, on the earth, (and that) in what place is not.
ਬ੍ਯਾਪਕ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਕਛੁ ਪਾਹਨ ਮੈ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਵਰ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧੩॥
bayaapak hai sabh hee ke bikhai kachh paahan mai paramesvavar naahee |13|(He) is all-pervading, only stones do not have God. 13.
ਕਾਗਜ ਦੀਪ ਸਭੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਅਰੁ ਸਾਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਨ ਕੀ ਮਸੁ ਕੈਯੈ ॥
kaagaj deep sabhai kar kai ar saat samundran kee mas kaiyai |Make all the deeps (islands) paper and ink the seven seas.
ਕਾਟਿ ਬਨਾਸਪਤੀ ਸਿਗਰੀ ਲਿਖਬੇ ਹੂੰ ਕੌ ਲੇਖਨਿ ਕਾਜ ਬਨੈਯੈ ॥
kaatt banaasapatee sigaree likhabe hoon kau lekhan kaaj banaiyai |Cut all the vegetation and make pens for writing.
ਸਾਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ ਬਕਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਸਾਠਿ ਲਿਖੈਯੈ ॥
saarasvatee bakataa kar kai sabh jeevan te jug saatth likhaiyai |Saraswati should be made to speak and be written by all living beings for sixty ages
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਯੁਤ ਹੈ ਨਹਿ ਕੈਸੇ ਹੂੰ ਸੋ ਜੜ ਪਾਹਨ ਮੌ ਠਹਰੈਯੈ ॥੧੪॥
jo prabh paayut hai neh kaise hoon so jarr paahan mau tthaharaiyai |14|(Even then) the Lord who cannot be attained by any means, O fool! He is placing him in the stones. 14.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਏ ਜਨ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
e jan bhev na har ko paavai |He who believes that God resides in stone,
ਪਾਹਨ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੌ ਠਹਰਾਵੈ ॥
paahan mai har kau tthaharaavai |That person cannot understand the secrets of God.
ਜਿਹ ਕਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਲੋਗਨ ਭਰਮਾਹੀ ॥
jih kih bidh logan bharamaahee |(He) as how he misleads people
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਦਰਬੁ ਲੂਟਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧੫॥
grih ko darab loott lai jaahee |15|And steals the money from the house. 15.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਜਗ ਮੈ ਆਪੁ ਕਹਾਵਈ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸੁਘਰ ਸੁਚੇਤ ॥
jag mai aap kahaavee panddit sughar suchet |In the world (you) call yourself learned, refined and alert,
ਪਾਹਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੈ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਲਗਤ ਅਚੇਤ ॥੧੬॥
paahan kee poojaa karai yaa te lagat achet |16|But he worships stones, that's why he looks stupid. 16.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਆਸਾ ਧਨ ਧਾਰੈਂ ॥
chit bheetar aasaa dhan dhaarain |(You) have a desire (for money etc.) in your mind
ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਉਚਾਰੈਂ ॥
siv siv siv mukh te uchaarain |And utters 'Shiva Shiva' with his mouth.
ਅਧਿਕ ਡਿੰਭ ਕਰਿ ਜਗਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈਂ ॥
adhik ddinbh kar jag dikhaavain |Shows the world by being very hypocritical,
ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਮਾਗਤ ਨ ਲਜਾਵੈਂ ॥੧੭॥
dvaar dvaar maagat na lajaavain |17|But he is not ashamed to beg from door to door. 17.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਨਾਕ ਮੂੰਦਿ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਘਰੀ ਠਾਢੇ ਰਹੈ ॥
naak moond kar chaar gharee tthaadte rahai |Keeps the nose closed for four hours
ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਏਕ ਚਰਨ ਇਸਥਿਤ ਕਹੈ ॥
siv siv siv hvai ek charan isathit kahai |And standing on one leg says 'Shiva Shiva'.
ਜੋ ਕੋਊ ਪੈਸਾ ਏਕ ਦੇਤ ਕਰਿ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
jo koaoo paisaa ek det kar aae kai |If someone comes and gives a penny
