ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥
tomar chhand |

TOMAR STANZA

ਕੀਅ ਐਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਉਚਾਰ ॥
keea aais brahamaa uchaar |

Brahma pronounced thus

ਤੈ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਵਸ ਬਾਰ ॥
tai putr paavas baar |

That O woman! You get a son.

ਤਬਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਏ ਸੁਨ ਬੈਨ ॥
tab naar e sun bain |

Then hearing these words from (that) woman's eyes

ਬਹੁ ਆਸੁ ਡਾਰਤ ਨੈਨ ॥੨੫॥
bahu aas ddaarat nain |25|

When Brahma said this that the save would be blessed with a son, then listening to it, her eyes showed signs of anxiety.25.

ਤਬ ਬਾਲ ਬਿਕਲ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
tab baal bikal sareer |

Then the body of the woman (Ansua) became disturbed.

ਜਲ ਸ੍ਰਵਤ ਨੈਨ ਅਧੀਰ ॥
jal sravat nain adheer |

The body of that young lady became agitated and the tears flowed form her eyes

ਰੋਮਾਚਿ ਗਦ ਗਦ ਬੈਨ ॥
romaach gad gad bain |

Being thrilled, (his) words became prose.

ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਜਨੁ ਰੈਨ ॥੨੬॥
din te bhee jan rain |26|

She was filled with anxiety on hearing these words and she felt that the day had changed into night.26.

ਰੋਮਾਚਿ ਬਿਕਲ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
romaach bikal sareer |

(His) body became excited and agitated.

ਤਨ ਕੋਪ ਮਾਨ ਅਧੀਰ ॥
tan kop maan adheer |

Being impatient, the body became angry.

ਫਰਕੰਤ ਉਸਟਰੁ ਨੈਨ ॥
farakant usattar nain |

His eyes and lips were parted

ਬਿਨੁ ਬੁਧ ਬੋਲਤ ਬੈਨ ॥੨੭॥
bin budh bolat bain |27|

Her body was agitated with anxiety and she getting enraged, became impatient, lips and eyes quivered and she lamented.27.

ਮੋਹਣ ਛੰਦ ॥
mohan chhand |

MOHAN STANZA

ਸੁਨਿ ਐਸ ਬੈਨ ॥
sun aais bain |

Hearing such words

ਮ੍ਰਿਗੀਏਸ ਨੈਨ ॥
mrigees nain |

with eyes like deer,

ਅਤਿ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਮ ॥
at roop dhaam |

House of extreme form

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁ ਬਾਮ ॥੨੮॥
sundar su baam |28|

Hearing these words that doe-eyed and extremely beautiful lady (felt agitated).28.

ਚਲ ਚਾਲ ਚਿਤ ॥
chal chaal chit |

Most Sacred Heart

ਪਰਮੰ ਪਵਿਤ ॥
paraman pavit |

got distracted

ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਵੰਤ ॥
at kop vant |

(Atri) Muni's wife by causing endless anger

ਮੁਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਿਅੰਤ ॥੨੯॥
mun tria biant |29|

Her mind, which was immaculate, was filled with extreme rage alongwith other women of the sages.29.

ਉਪਟੰਤ ਕੇਸ ॥
aupattant kes |

(She) plucks hair.

ਮੁਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੁਦੇਸ ॥
mun tria sudes |

With a beautiful body ('Sudes').

ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਅੰਗਿ ॥
at kop ang |

Muni's wife is very angry.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਰੰਗ ॥੩੦॥
sundar surang |30|

The wife of the sage plucked her hair at that place and her comely limbs were filled with extreme ire.30.

ਤੋਰੰਤ ਹਾਰ ॥
torant haar |

losing weight,

ਉਪਟੰਤ ਬਾਰ ॥
aupattant baar |

Plucks the hair (of the head).

ਡਾਰੰਤ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
ddaarant dhoor |

And puts dust (in them).

ਰੋਖੰਤ ਪੂਰ ॥੩੧॥
rokhant poor |31|

Breaking her necklaces, she plucked her hair and began to put dust hr head.31.

TOMAR STANZA

ਲਖਿ ਕੋਪ ਭੀ ਮੁਨਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
lakh kop bhee mun naar |

Seeing the sage's wife became enraged,

ਉਠਿ ਭਾਜ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਉਦਾਰ ॥
autth bhaaj braham udaar |

The generous Brahma got up and ran away.

ਸਿਵ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੈ ਰਿਖ ਸਰਬ ॥
siv sang lai rikh sarab |

Shiva along with all the sages

ਭਯਮਾਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਤਜਿ ਗਰਬ ॥੩੨॥
bhayamaan hvai taj garab |32|

Seeing the wife of the sage in anger, getting fearful and forsaking his pride, and taking Shiva and other sages with him, Brahma fled.32.

ਤਬ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਮੁਨਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
tab kop kai mun naar |

Then the sage's wife got angry

ਸਿਰ ਕੇਸ ਜਟਾ ਉਪਾਰਿ ॥
sir kes jattaa upaar |

A lock of hair fell from the head.

ਕਰਿ ਸੌ ਜਬੈ ਕਰ ਮਾਰ ॥
kar sau jabai kar maar |

When (he) hit hand on hand

ਤਬ ਲੀਨ ਦਤ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥੩੩॥
tab leen dat avataar |33|

Then the wife of the sage, uprooting one of the matted lock of ther head in anger, strumck it on her hand, at that time Dattatreya was born.33.

ਕਰ ਬਾਮ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਨ ॥
kar baam maatr samaan |

The left hand is similar to the mother

ਕਰੁ ਦਛਨਤ੍ਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ॥
kar dachhanatr pramaan |

Considering Ansuya as his mother and keeping her on his right, he circumambulated around her and then saluted her

ਕੀਆ ਪਾਨ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
keea paan bhog bichaar |

(When the woman) enjoyed the hands

ਤਬ ਭਏ ਦਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੩੪॥
tab bhe dat kumaar |34|

In this way, thinking about the experience of sexual pleasure, Dutt Kumar was born.34.

ਅਨਭੂਤ ਉਤਮ ਗਾਤ ॥
anabhoot utam gaat |

Wonderful and excellent-bodied (datta)

ਉਚਰੰਤ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਾਤ ॥
aucharant sinmrit saat |

His body was charming and he was reciting seven Smrities

ਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਦ ਚਾਰ ਰੜੰਤ ॥
mukh bed chaar rarrant |

He recites four Vedas with his mouth.

ਉਪਜੋ ਸੁ ਦਤ ਮਹੰਤ ॥੩੫॥
aupajo su dat mahant |35|

The great Dutt was reciting all the four Vedas.35.

ਸਿਵ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਲ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ ॥
siv simar poorabal sraap |

Shiva remembered the previous curse
