ਕਹਾ ਲੌ ਗਨੌ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਬੂਝੇ ॥੯॥
kahaa lau ganau mai nahee jaat boojhe |9|No matter how much I count, (from me) they are not counted. 9.
ਰੂਆਲ ਛੰਦ ॥
rooaal chhand |Royal Verses:
ਅਮਿਤ ਸੈਨਾ ਲੈ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਹ ਆਪੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੰਗ ॥
amit sainaa lai chaliyo tah aap raajaa sang |Then the king took a large army with him
ਜੋਰਿ ਕੋਰਿ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਸੁਰੰਗਿ ॥
jor kor su beer mantree sasatr dhaar surang |In which crores of warriors and ministers (have joined) by collecting and wearing beautiful armor.
ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥਿਨ ਕੇ ਲਗੇ ਅਰੁ ਬੇਧਿ ਬਾਨਨ ਸਾਥ ॥
sool saithin ke lage ar bedh baanan saath |By sticking tridents, saihathis and being pierced with arrows
ਜੂਝਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਗਏ ਤਹਾ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥ ॥੧੦॥
joojh joojh ge tahaa ran bhoom madh pramaath |10|Warriors have been killed fighting in the battlefield. 10.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Verse:
ਜਗੇ ਜੰਗ ਜੋਧਾ ਗਏ ਜੂਝਿ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
jage jang jodhaa ge joojh bhaare |Many warriors have been killed since the start of the war
ਕਿਤੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਘੂਮੈ ਸੁ ਮਨੋ ਮਤਵਾਰੇ ॥
kite bhoom ghoomai su mano matavaare |In the heavy fighting they moved like adherents
ਕਿਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਐਸੇ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥
kite maar hee maar aaise pukaarai |Many 'maro-maro' shout like this.
ਕਿਤੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਛੋਰੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਭੇਖ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੧੧॥
kite sasatr chhorai triyaa bhekh dhaarai |11|At some places they were inflicted death and at some they relaxed like women.(11)
ਜਬੈ ਆਨਿ ਜੋਧਾ ਚਹੂੰ ਘਾਤ ਗਜੇ ॥
jabai aan jodhaa chahoon ghaat gaje |When warriors from all four sides came and fought.
ਮਹਾ ਸੰਖ ਔ ਦੁੰਦਭੀ ਨਾਦ ਵਜੇ ॥
mahaa sankh aau dundabhee naad vaje |When the braves from both the sides bellowed, the trumpets and conch-shells started to blow.
ਪਰੀ ਜੌ ਅਭੀਤਾਨ ਕੀ ਭੀਰ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
paree jau abheetaan kee bheer bhaaree |When the crowd of fearless warriors ('abhitan') increased,
ਤਬੈ ਆਪੁ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ਕਿਲਕਾਰੀ ॥੧੨॥
tabai aap sree kaalikaa kilakaaree |12|When the crowds of the fighters amalgamated, the goddess came in shrieking.(12) shrieking.(12)
ਤਹਾ ਆਪੁ ਲੈ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਡੌਰੂ ਬਜਾਯੋ ॥
tahaa aap lai rudr ddauaroo bajaayo |There Shiva himself took the cord and played it
ਚਤਰ ਸਾਠਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਗਨੀ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਯੋ ॥
chatar saatth mil joganee geet gaayo |Shiva beat his drum too and all the sixty-four female yogis, began their singing.
ਕਹੂੰ ਕੋਪਿ ਕੈ ਡਾਕਨੀ ਹਾਕ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
kahoon kop kai ddaakanee haak maarai |Somewhere the postmen used to respond angrily
ਕਹੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਔ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਨਾਗੇ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੧੩॥
kahoon bhoot aau pret naage bihaarai |13|The witches honked here and the ghosts performed naked dances.(13)
ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥

ਤਬ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਮੈ ਰਿਸਿ ਖਾਇ ॥
tab bikramai ris khaae |Then Bikram got angry
ਭਟ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
bhatt bhaat bhaat bulaae |Bikrim flew into the rage, and called every body in.
ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਹਠ ਠਾਨਿ ॥
chit mai adhik hatth tthaan |(He) by being more stubborn in Chit
ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਪਰਤ ਭੇ ਆਨਿ ॥੧੪॥
tih tthaa parat bhe aan |14|With great determination they gathered there,(14)
ਅਤਿ ਤਹ ਸੁ ਜੋਧਾ ਆਨਿ ॥
at tah su jodhaa aan |There are more warriors coming
ਲਰਿ ਮਰਤ ਭੇ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਨਿ ॥
lar marat bhe taj kaan |Many bravt ones marched forward to sacrifice their lives.
ਬਾਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਜਾਇ ॥
baajantr kott bajaae |Many bells started ringing
ਰਨ ਰਾਗ ਮਾਰੂ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੫॥
ran raag maaroo gaae |15|Under recitation ofthe songs of death, the fighting was enhanced.(15)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਆਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਤੇ ਸਕਲ ਨਿਬੇਰੇ ॥
aan pare te sakal nibere |All those who came (there) were killed.
ਉਮਡੇ ਔਰ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰੇ ॥
aumadde aauar kaal ke prere |(There) others, driven by famine, fell down.
ਜੇ ਚਲਿ ਦਲ ਰਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਆਏ ॥
je chal dal ran manddal aae |who went to the war-ground,
ਲਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਸਿਧਾਏ ॥੧੬॥
lar mar kai sabh svarag sidhaae |16|(They) all died fighting and went to heaven. 16.
ਐਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੈਨ ਜਬ ਲਰਿਯੋ ॥
aaisee bhaat sain jab lariyo |Thus when the army fought
ਏਕ ਬੀਰ ਜੀਯਤ ਨ ਉਬਰਿਯੋ ॥
ek beer jeeyat na ubariyo |So not even one hero survived.
ਤਬ ਹਠਿ ਰਾਵ ਆਪਿ ਦੋਊ ਧਾਏ ॥
tab hatth raav aap doaoo dhaae |Then both the kings stubbornly went on their own
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਾਦਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਜਾਏ ॥੧੭॥
bhaat bhaat baaditr bajaae |17|And various bells were played. 17.
ਤੁਰਹੀ ਨਾਦ ਨਫੀਰੀ ਬਾਜੀ ॥
turahee naad nafeeree baajee |Trumpets, naads, lutes played
ਸੰਖ ਢੋਲ ਕਰਨਾਏ ਗਾਜੀ ॥
sankh dtol karanaae gaajee |and Sankha, Dhol and Ran-Singhe Gajje.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਮੋ ਘੁਰੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥
bhaat bhaat mo ghure nagaare |At the same time
ਦੇਖਤ ਸੁਰ ਬਿਵਾਨ ਚੜਿ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੧੮॥
dekhat sur bivaan charr saare |18|And all the gods came on planes to see. 18.
ਜੋ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਘਾਇ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥
jo bikramaa tih ghaae chalaavai |Whosoever Bikram attacks him,
ਆਪਿ ਆਨਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚੰਡਿ ਬਚਾਵੈ ॥
aap aan sree chandd bachaavai |Any action Bikrim took, Shri Chandika came and negated it.
ਤਿਹ ਬ੍ਰਿਣ ਏਕ ਲਗਨ ਨਹਿ ਦੇਵੈ ॥
tih brin ek lagan neh devai |He would not get a single injury.
ਸੇਵਕ ਜਾਨਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਕੈ ਲੇਵੈ ॥੧੯॥
sevak jaan raakh kai levai |19|She would let him hit and, considering him (Raja Salwan) as her devotee, always saved him.(19)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਦੇਵੀ ਭਗਤ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਲਗਨ ਨ ਦੀਨੇ ਘਾਇ ॥
devee bhagat pachhaan tih lagan na deene ghaae |Expecting him as the zealot ofthe goddess, she did not let him get hurt,
ਬਜ੍ਰ ਬਾਨ ਬਰਛੀਨ ਕੋ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਮ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਚਲਾਇ ॥੨੦॥
bajr baan barachheen ko bikram rahiyo chalaae |20|In spite of god Brij Bhan’s spears and the arrows thrown by Bikrim.(20)
