ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਮਾਘ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਭਏ ਰੁਤਿ ਫਾਗੁਨ ਆਇ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੋਰੀ ॥
maagh biteet bhe rut faagun aae gee sabh khelat horee |After the month of Magh, in the season of Phagun, all began to play Holi
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਤਾਲ ਕਹੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਭਰੂਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਰੀ ॥
gaavat geet bajaavat taal kahai mukh te bharooaa mil horee |All the people gathered together in couples and sang songs with the playing of musical instruments
ਡਾਰਤ ਹੈ ਅਲਿਤਾ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਛਟਿਕਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਰਤ ਬੈਸਨ ਥੋਰੀ ॥
ddaarat hai alitaa banitaa chhattikaa sang maarat baisan thoree |Various colours were splashed on women and the women beat the men with staffs (with affection)
ਖੇਲਤ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਧਮਾਰ ਅਨੂਪ ਮਹਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਵਲ ਗੋਰੀ ॥੨੨੫॥
khelat sayaam dhamaar anoop mahaa mil sundar saaval goree |225|The poet Shyam says that Krishna and beautiful damsels are together playing this tumultuous Holi.225.
ਅੰਤ ਬਸੰਤ ਭਏ ਰੁਤਿ ਗ੍ਰੀਖਮ ਆਇ ਗਈ ਹਰ ਖੇਲ ਮਚਾਇਓ ॥
ant basant bhe rut greekham aae gee har khel machaaeio |When the spring season ended, and with the beginning of the summer, Krishna began to play Holi with pomp and show
ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਕ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਭਏ ਧਨਠੀ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
aavahu mik duhoon dis te tum kaanrah bhe dhanatthee sukh paayo |The people poured in from both sides and were pleased to see Krishna as their leader
ਦੈਤ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਬਡੋ ਕਪਟੀ ਤਬ ਬਾਲਕ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਨ ਜਨਾਯੋ ॥
dait pralanb baddo kapattee tab baalak roop dhariyo na janaayo |In all this tumult, a demon named Pralamb assuming the appearance of a youth came and mixed with other youths
ਕੰਧ ਚੜਾਇ ਹਲੀ ਕੋ ਉਡਿਓ ਤਿਨਿ ਮੂਕਨ ਸੋ ਧਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੬॥
kandh charraae halee ko uddio tin mookan so dhar maar giraayo |226|He carried Krishna on his shoulder and flew Krihsna caused the fall of that demon with his fists.226.
ਕੇਸਵ ਰਾਮ ਭਏ ਧਨਠੀ ਮਿਕ ਬਾਲ ਕਏ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
kesav raam bhe dhanatthee mik baal ke tab hee sabh piaare |Krishna became the leader and began to play with lovely boys
ਦੈਤ ਮਿਕਿਯੋ ਸੁਤ ਨੰਦਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਖੇਲਿ ਜਿਤ੍ਯੋ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
dait mikiyo sut nandeh ke sang khel jitayo musalee har haare |The demon also became the playmate of Krishna and in that play Balram won and Krishna was defeated
ਆਵ ਚੜੋ ਨ ਚੜਿਓ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਇਨ ਪੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਬਪੁ ਕੋ ਪਗ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
aav charro na charrio su kahiyo in pai tih ke bap ko pag dhaare |Then Krishna asked Haldhar to mount on the body of that demon
ਮਾਰਿ ਗਿਰਾਇ ਦਯੋ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰ ਬੀਰ ਬਡੋ ਉਨ ਮੂਕਨ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੨੨੭॥
maar giraae dayo dharanee par beer baddo un mookan maare |227|Balram put his foot on his body and causing his fall, he threw him (on the ground) and with his fists killed him.227.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਦੈਤ ਬਧਹਿ ॥
eit sree bachitr naattake krisanaavataare pralanb dait badheh |End of the killing of the demon Palamb in Krishnavatar in Bachittar Natak.
ਅਥ ਲੁਕ ਮੀਚਨ ਖੇਲ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath luk meechan khel kathanan |Now begins the description of the play of ‘Hide and Seek’

ਮਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਲਯੋ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਜਬ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤਬ ਗਾਈ ॥
maar pralanb layo musalee jab yaad karee har jee tab gaaee |Haldhar killed the demon Pralamb and called Krishna
ਚੂਮਨ ਲਾਗ ਤਬੈ ਬਛਰਾ ਮੁਖ ਧੇਨ ਵਹੈ ਉਨ ਕੀ ਅਰੁ ਮਾਈ ॥
chooman laag tabai bachharaa mukh dhen vahai un kee ar maaee |Then Krishna kissed the faces of cows and calves
ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ੍ਯ ਤਬੈ ਕਰੁਨਾਨਿਧ ਤਉ ਲੁਕ ਮੀਚਨ ਖੇਲ ਮਚਾਈ ॥
hoe prasanay tabai karunaanidh tau luk meechan khel machaaee |Being pleased, the treasure of mercy (Krishna) began the play of “Hide and Seed
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੨੨੮॥
taa chhab kee at hee upamaa kab ke man mai bahu bhaatin bhaaee |228|” This spectacle has been described by the poet in various ways.228.

ਬੈਠਿ ਕਰਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰ ਆਖੈ ਮੀਚੈ ਏਕ ਗ੍ਵਾਰ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਛੋਰਿ ਦੇਤ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਅਉਰੋ ਗਹੈ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
baitth kar gvaar aakhai meechai ek gvaar hoon kee chhor det taa ko so to aauro gahai dhaae kai |One gopa boy closed the eyes of another boy and leaving him, he closes the eyes of another one
ਆਖੈ ਮੂੰਦਤ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਓਹੀ ਗੋਪ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਫੇਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਜੋ ਛੁਐ ਕਰ ਸਾਥ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
aakhai moondat hai tab ohee gop hoon kee fer jaa ke tan ko jo chhuaai kar saath jaae kai |Then that boy closes the eyes of that boy who had been closing the eyes and whose body has been touched with hands
ਤਹ ਤੋ ਛਲ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਪਲਾਵੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਆਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਤਉ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਆਖੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
tah to chhal bal kai palaavai haath aavai nahee tau mittaavai aakhai aap hee te so to aae kai |Then with deception, he tries not to be touched with hand
