ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਰ੍ਯੋ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
eih bidh raaj karayo ragh raajaa |

Thus Raghuraj ruled

ਦਾਨ ਨਿਸਾਨ ਚਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਬਾਜਾ ॥
daan nisaan chahoon dis baajaa |

The king Raghu ruled in this way and the fame of his charity spread in all the four directions

ਚਾਰੋ ਦਿਸਾ ਬੈਠ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥
chaaro disaa baitth rakhavaare |

Guards were sitting on the four sides,

ਮਹਾਬੀਰ ਅਰੁ ਰੂਪ ਉਜਿਆਰੇ ॥੧੭੫॥
mahaabeer ar roop ujiaare |175|

The mighty and elegant warriors protected him in all the four directions.175.

ਬੀਸ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਬਰਖ ਪਰਮਾਨਾ ॥
bees sahansr barakh paramaanaa |

For twenty thousand years

ਰਾਜੁ ਕਰਾ ਦਸ ਚਾਰ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
raaj karaa das chaar nidhaanaa |

That king, skilful in fourteen sciences, ruled for twenty thousand years

ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਤਿ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
bhaat anek kare nit dharamaa |

He performed many daily rituals.

ਔਰ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਐਸ ਕਰ ਕਰਮਾ ॥੧੭੬॥
aauar na sakai aais kar karamaa |176|

He always performed the religious acts of this kind, which none other could perform.176.

ਪਾਧੜੀ ਛੰਦ ॥
paadharree chhand |

PAADHARI STANZA

ਇਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਕੀਨ ॥
eihu bhaat raaj raghuraaj keen |

Thus Raghuraj ruled

ਗਜ ਬਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਦੀਨਾਨ ਦੀਨ ॥
gaj baaj saaj deenaan deen |

The king Raghu ruled in this way and gave in charity the elephants and horses to the poor

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜੀਤਿ ਜੀਤਿ ਲਿਨੇ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
nrip jeet jeet line apaar |

He had conquered countless kings

ਕਰਿ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡੇ ਗੜਵਾਰ ॥੧੭੭॥
kar khandd khandd khandde garravaar |177|

He conquered many kings and shattered many forts.177.

ਇਤਿ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਪਤਹਿ ॥੯॥੫॥
eit ragh raaj samaapateh |9|5|

End of “The Rule of king Raghu.”

ਅਥ ਅਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਰਾਜ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath aj raajaa ko raaj kathanan |

Now begins the description of the rule of king Aj

ਪਾਧੜੀ ਛੰਦ ॥
paadharree chhand |

PAADHARI STANZA

ਫੁਨਿ ਭਏ ਰਾਜ ਅਜਰਾਜ ਬੀਰ ॥
fun bhe raaj ajaraaj beer |

Then Ajaraj Surbir became the king

ਜਿਨਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਜਿਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਰ ॥
jin bhaat bhaat jite prabeer |

Then there ruled the great and powerful king Aj, who destroyed several clans after conquering many heroes

ਕਿਨੇ ਖਰਾਬ ਖਾਨੇ ਖਵਾਸ ॥
kine kharaab khaane khavaas |

(He) destroyed the clans and dynasties of many

ਜਿਤੇ ਮਹੀਪ ਤੋਰੇ ਮਵਾਸ ॥੧॥
jite maheep tore mavaas |1|

He also conquered the rebellious kings.1.

ਜਿਤੇ ਅਜੀਤ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਅਮੁੰਡ ॥
jite ajeet mundde amundd |

Conquered the unconquerable

ਖੰਡੇ ਅਖੰਡ ਕਿਨੇ ਘਮੰਡ ॥
khandde akhandd kine ghamandd |

He conquered many invincible kings and shattered the pride of many egoistic kings

ਦਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
das chaar chaar bidiaa nidhaan |

Those who were proud because they could not be broken, broke (them).

ਅਜਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਹਾਨ ॥੨॥
ajaraaj raaj raajaa mahaan |2|

The great king Aj was the ocean of fourteen sciences.2.

ਸੂਰਾ ਸੁਬਾਹ ਜੋਧਾ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ॥
sooraa subaah jodhaa prachandd |

(He was) a mighty warrior and a mighty warrior.

ਸ੍ਰੁਤਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਉਦੰਡ ॥
srut sarab saasatr bidiaa udandd |

That king was a powerful warrior and expert in the study of Shrutis (Vedas) and Shastras

ਮਾਨੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੂਪ ॥
maanee mahaan sundar saroop |

(He was) very dignified (or silent) and very handsome in appearance,

ਅਵਿਲੋਕਿ ਜਾਸੁ ਲਾਜੰਤ ਭੂਪ ॥੩॥
avilok jaas laajant bhoop |3|

That great king was full of self-pride and had a very charming face, seeing which all the kings felt shy.3.

ਰਾਜਾਨ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾਧਿਰਾਜ ॥
raajaan raaj raajaadhiraaj |

He was also the king of kings.

ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸਮਾਜ ॥
grih bhare sarab sanpat samaaj |

That Sovereign was king of kings and in his kingdom, all the houses were full of wealth

ਅਵਿਲੋਕ ਰੂਪ ਰੀਝੰਤ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
avilok roop reejhant naar |

Seeing (his) form, the women used to get angry.

ਸ੍ਰੁਤਿ ਦਾਨ ਸੀਲ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਉਦਾਰ ॥੪॥
srut daan seel bidiaa udaar |4|

The women were allured on seeing his beauty and he was the knower of the mysteries of the Vedas he was a great donor, skilful in sciences and a very gentle king.4.

ਜੌ ਕਹੋ ਕਥਾ ਬਾਢੰਤ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ॥
jau kaho kathaa baadtant granth |

If I tell (his whole) story, the book becomes bigger.

ਸੁਣਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਛੇਪ ਕੰਥ ॥
sun lehu mitr sanchhep kanth |

If I relate the whole story, I fear the Granth to become voluminous

ਬੈਦਰਭ ਦੇਸਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੁਬਾਹ ॥
baidarabh des raajaa subaah |

There was a warrior (or 'Subahu' named) king of Baidarbha country

ਚੰਪਾਵਤੀ ਸੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੫॥
chanpaavatee su grih naar taeh |5|

Therefore, O friend! listen this story only in brief there was a king named Subahu in Vidrabha country, the name of whose queen was Champavati.5.

ਤਿਹ ਜਈ ਏਕ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
tih jee ek kaniaa apaar |

She gave birth to a beautiful girl.

ਤਿਹ ਮਤੀਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਨਾਮਾ ਉਦਾਰ ॥
tih mateeindr naamaa udaar |

She gave birth to a daughter, whose name was Indumati

ਜਬ ਭਈ ਜੋਗ ਬਰ ਕੇ ਕੁਮਾਰਿ ॥
jab bhee jog bar ke kumaar |

When she became eligible for Kumari Var,

ਤਬ ਕੀਨ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥੬॥
tab keen baitth raajaa bichaar |6|

When she attained the marriageable age, the king then consulted his ministers.6.

ਲਿਨੇ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਰਬ ਦੇਸ ॥
line bulaae nrip sarab des |

The kings of all the countries were invited.

ਧਾਏ ਸੁਬਾਹ ਲੈ ਦਲ ਅਸੇਸ ॥
dhaae subaah lai dal ases |

The king invited the kings of all the countries, who came to the kingdom of Subahu with their armies

ਮੁਖ ਭਈ ਆਨਿ ਸਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ ਆਪੁ ॥
mukh bhee aan sarasvatee aap |

In the face of (all) Saraswati Aan Biraji

ਜਿਹਿ ਜਪਤ ਲੋਗ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਰਬ ਜਾਪੁ ॥੭॥
jihi japat log mil sarab jaap |7|

The adorable goddess Sarasvati came to reside in the mouths of all them and all of them with the desire of marrying that girl, offered prayers alongwith

ਤਬ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਭੂਪ ਆਨਿ ॥
tab des des ke bhoop aan |

Then the kings of the country came

ਕਿਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਹਾਨਿ ॥
kino pranaam raajaa mahaan |

All the kings of various countries came and bowed before that king Subahu nad sat in the assembly

ਤਹ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਾਜ ਸੋਭੰਤ ਐਸੁ ॥
tah baitth raaj sobhant aais |

Sitting there, the king was enjoying himself like this

ਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਸਮ ਨ ਤੈਸੁ ॥੮॥
jan dev manddalee sam na tais |8|

, Where their glory excelled that of the assembly of gods.8.
