ਦੇਵੀ ਮਾਰਿਓ ਦੈਤ ਇਉ ਲਰਿਓ ਜੁ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਆਇ ॥
devee maario dait iau lario ju sanamukh aae |In this way, the goddess killed the demon, who came and fought before her.
ਪੁਨਿ ਸਤ੍ਰਨਿ ਕੀ ਸੈਨ ਮੈ ਧਸੀ ਸੁ ਸੰਖ ਬਜਾਇ ॥੩੫॥
pun satran kee sain mai dhasee su sankh bajaae |35|Then she penetrated into the army of the enemies by blowing her conch.35.

ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਚੰਡਿ ਕੁਵੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਮਹਾ ਬਰਬੰਡ ਤਬੈ ਇਹ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
lai kar chandd kuvandd prachandd mahaa barabandd tabai ih keeno |The mighty Chandika, taking the bow in her hand, in great rage, did this
ਏਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਰ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਹਕਾਰਿ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਸਭੈ ਦਲ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
ek hee baar nihaar hakaar sudhaar bidaar sabhai dal deeno |She scanned once all the army of the enemy and with terrible shout destroyed it.
ਦੈਤ ਘਨੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਹਨੇ ਲਖਿ ਸ੍ਰੋਨ ਸਨੇ ਕਵਿ ਇਉ ਮਨੁ ਚੀਨੋ ॥
dait ghane ran maeh hane lakh sron sane kav iau man cheeno |Seeing a large number of chopped and bleeding demons, the poet feels in his mind
ਜਿਉ ਖਗਰਾਜ ਬਡੋ ਅਹਿਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਜ ਕੇ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥੩੬॥
jiau khagaraaj baddo ahiraaj samaaj ke kaatt kataa kar leeno |36|That Garuda had chopped the snakes into bits and thrown them helter-skelter.36.

ਦੇਵੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਦੈਤ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਨਿਬਲ ਸੇ ਕੀਨ ॥
devee maare dait bahu prabal nibal se keen |The goddess killed many demons and made the strong ones weak.
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਨ ਮੈ ਚਮੂੰ ਚਾਲ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੩੭॥
sasatr dhaar kar karan mai chamoon chaal kar deen |37|Holding the weapons in her hand, she made the forces of the enemy run away.37.
ਭਜੀ ਚਮੂੰ ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰੀ ਤਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਨਿਜ ਈਸ ॥
bhajee chamoon mahakhaasuree takee saran nij ees |The army of Mahishasura ran away and sought the shelter of its king.
ਧਾਇ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਨ ਇਉ ਕਹਿਓ ਹਨਿਓ ਪਦਮ ਭਟ ਬੀਸ ॥੩੮॥
dhaae jaae tin iau kahio hanio padam bhatt bees |38|It told him after running that twenty padam of the forces had been killd.38.
ਸੁਨਿ ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਮਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਉਠਿਓ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥
sun mahakhaasur moorr mat man mai utthio risaae |Hearing this, the foolish Mahishasura was highly enraged.
ਆਗਿਆ ਦੀਨੀ ਸੈਨ ਕੋ ਘੇਰੋ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੯॥
aagiaa deenee sain ko ghero devee jaae |39|He ordered that the goddess be besiged.39.

ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੈਨਹਿ ਸੂਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਇਕੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
baat sunee prabh kee sabh saineh soor mile ik mantr kario hai |Listening to the words of their king, all the warriors together took this decision.
ਜਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਠਾਟ ਇਹੈ ਮਨ ਮਧਿ ਕਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
jaae pare chahoon or te dhaae kai tthaatt ihai man madh kario hai |That with firm determination in the mind, the goddess be attacked from all the four directions.
ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਦਲੁ ਇਉ ਬਿਹਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
maar hee maar pukaar pare as lai kar mai dal iau bihario hai |With swords in their hands, and uttering loud shouts of “Kill, Kill”, the army of demons swarmed from all directions.
ਘੇਰਿ ਲਈ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਡਿ ਸੁ ਚੰਦ ਮਨੋ ਪਰਵੇਖ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੪੦॥
gher lee chahoon or te chandd su chand mano paravekh pario hai |40|They all besieged Chandi from all the four sides, like the moon encircled amongst clouds.40.
ਦੇਖਿ ਚਮੂੰ ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਚੰਡ ਕੁਵੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਧਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
dekh chamoon mahakhaasur kee kar chandd kuvandd prachandd dhario hai |Scanning the army of Mahishasura, Chandika caught hold of her fierce bow.
ਦਛਨ ਬਾਮ ਚਲਾਇ ਘਨੇ ਸਰ ਕੋਪ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
dachhan baam chalaae ghane sar kop bhayaanak judh kario hai |With anger, she waged the terrible war by showering the rain of her innumerable shafts.
ਭੰਜਨ ਭੇ ਅਰਿ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਛੁਟ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਧਰਾਨਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
bhanjan bhe ar ke tan te chhutt sraun samooh dharaan pario hai |By chopping the forces of the enemy, such a great quantity of blood fell on the ground.
ਆਠਵੋ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਪਚਾਯੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਮਨੋ ਯਾ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਨੇ ਉਗਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੪੧॥
aatthavo sindh pachaayo huto mano yaa ran mai bidh ne ugario hai |41|As though the Lord-God hath created the eighth ocean alongwith already created seven oceans.41.
