ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਕ ਕਰੈ ਨਹਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਰੈ ਮੁਖ ਸਿਉ ॥

maat pitaan kee sank karai neh sayaam hee sayaam karai mukh siau |

Forsaking their parental shyness, the gopis are repeating the name of Krishna

ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾ ਮਤਵਾਰ ਪਰੈ ਗਿਰ ਕੈ ਧਰਿ ਪੈ ਸੋਊ ਤਿਉ ॥

bhoom girai bidh jaa matavaar parai gir kai dhar pai soaoo tiau |

They are falling down on the earth and getting up like the intoxicated persons

ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੁੰਜਨ ਢੂੰਢਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਧਨ ਲੋਭਕ ਜਿਉ ॥

brij kunjan dtoondtat hai tum ko kab sayaam kahai dhan lobhak jiau |

They are searching you in the alcoves of Braja like a person engrossed in the greed of wealth

ਅਬ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਰੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਪਿਖ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਹਉ ਦੁਖ ਇਉ ॥੯੮੦॥

ab taa te karo binatee tum so pikh kai tin ko fun hau dukh iau |980|

Therefore I am requesting you, seeing them my suffering has also increased.980.

ਆਪ ਚਲੋ ਇਹ ਤੇ ਨ ਭਲੀ ਜੁ ਪੈ ਆਪ ਚਲੋ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਤ ਪਠੀਜੈ ॥

aap chalo ih te na bhalee ju pai aap chalo nahee doot pattheejai |

If you go yourself, nothing will be more appropriate than this

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਰੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਦੁਹ ਬਾਤਨ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਬਾਤ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥

taa te karo binatee tum so duh baatan te ik baat kareejai |

If you can’t do this, then send your messenger, I request that one of these things must be done

ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਕੇ ਬਿਨ ਮੀਨ ਦਸਾ ਸੁ ਦਸਾ ਭਈ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥

jiau jal ke bin meen dasaa su dasaa bhee gvaaran kee sun leejai |

Whatever condition is experienced by fish without water, the same is happening to the gopis

ਕੈ ਜਲ ਹੋਇ ਉਨੈ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਕਿ ਉਨੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੯੮੧॥

kai jal hoe unai mileeai ki unai drirrataa ko kahiyo bar deejai |981|

Now either you may meet them as water or give them the boon of the detrminationof the mind.981.

ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਸਿਨ ਹਾਲ ਕਿਧੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਫੁਨਿ ਊਧਵ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਨ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

brij baasin haal kidho har joo fun aoodhav te sabh hee sun leeno |

Krishna heard from Udhava the condition of the residents of Braja

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ਸੁ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਘਟੈ ਦੁਖ ਹੋਵਤ ਜੀ ਨੋ ॥

jaa kee kathaa sun kai chit te su hulaas ghattai dukh hovat jee no |

Listening to that story, the happiness decreases and the agony increases

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਿਧੌ ਕਬਿ ਨੈ ਸੁ ਸੋਊ ਲਖਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

sayaam kahiyo mukh te ih bhaat kidhau kab nai su soaoo lakh leeno |

Sri Krishna said this from his mind which the poet understood in the same way.

ਊਧਵ ਮੈ ਉਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੋ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਕੋ ਅਬੈ ਬਰੁ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੯੮੨॥

aoodhav mai un gvaaran ko su kahiyo drirrataa ko abai bar deeno |982|

Then Krishna uttered these words from his mouth and the poet feeling the crux of these words has repeated them, “O Udhava! I grant the boon of the determination of the mind to those gopis.”982.

ਸਤ੍ਰਹ ਸੈ ਚਵਤਾਲ ਮੈ ਸਾਵਨ ਸੁਦਿ ਬੁਧਵਾਰਿ ॥

satrah sai chavataal mai saavan sud budhavaar |

On the bright (partial) Wednesday of the (month) Savan in seventeen hundred and forty-four (Bikrami).

ਨਗਰ ਪਾਵਟਾ ਮੋ ਤੁਮੋ ਰਚਿਯੋ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥੯੮੩॥

nagar paavattaa mo tumo rachiyo granth sudhaar |983|

This Granth (book) has been prepared after revision in Paonta city on Wednesday in Sawan Sudi Samvat 1744. 983.

ਖੜਗ ਪਾਨਿ ਕੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਪੋਥੀ ਰਚੀ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥

kharrag paan kee kripaa te pothee rachee bichaar |

With the grace of the sword-wielder Lord-God, this Granth has been prepared thoughtfully

ਭੂਲਿ ਹੋਇ ਜਹ ਤਹ ਸੁ ਕਬਿ ਪੜਿਅਹੁ ਸਭੈ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥੯੮੪॥

bhool hoe jah tah su kab parriahu sabhai sudhaar |984|

Even then, if there is any mistake anywhere, the poets may kindly recite it after revision.984.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਸਿਕੰਧੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਗੋਪੀ ਊਧਵ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਬਿਰਹ ਨਾਟਕ ਬਰਨਨੰ ਨਾਮ ਧਯਾਇ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤ ॥

eit sree dasam sikandhe puraane bachitr naattak granthe krisanaavataare gopee aoodhav sanbaade birah naattak barananan naam dhayaae samaapatam sat subham sat |
