ਦਸਲਾ ਕਰਭਿਖ ਆਦਿ ਕਹਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਅਰਿ ਭਾਖੁ ॥

dasalaa karabhikh aad keh ant sabad ar bhaakh |

Say Dashla and Karbhikh (sons of Dhritarashtra) etc. and pronounce the word 'Ari' at the end.

ਅਨੁਜ ਤਨੁਜ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥੧੫੮॥

anuj tanuj satru uchar naam baan lakh raakh |158|

Saying primarily the words Dashla and Karbhikh (the sons of Dhritrashtra), and then uttering “Ari, Anuj, Tanuj and Sutari”, the names of Baan are known.158.

ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਭੀਖਮ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਅਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

pritham bheekham ke naam lai ant sabad ar dehu |

First take the name of Bhikham and put the word 'Ari' at the end.

ਸੁਤ ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੫੯॥

sut aad antar uchar naam baan lakh lehu |159|

Placing primarily the names of Bhisham and then adding the words “Ari and Shatru”, the names of Baan are known.159.

ਤਟਤਿ ਜਾਨਵੀ ਅਗ੍ਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੈ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

tattat jaanavee agrajaa prithamai sabad bakhaan |

First recite the words 'Tattat Jhanvi' and 'Agraja' (River Ganga).

ਤਨੁਜ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਸੁਤਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥੧੬੦॥

tanuj satru sutar uchar naam baan pahichaan |160|

Saying primarily “Jaahnavi and Agraja ns then uttering “Tanuj, Shatru and Sutari.”, the names of Baan are recognized.160.

ਗੰਗਾ ਗਿਰਿਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਸਬਦ ਪੁਨਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

gangaa girijaa pritham keh putr sabad pun dehu |

Say Ganga, Girija (word) first and then add the word 'putra'.

ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਉਚਰਿ ਸੁਤਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੬੧॥

Saying primarily “Ganga and Girija”, then adding the word “Putra” and afterwards uttering “Shatru and Sutari”, the names of Baan are known.161.

ਨਾਕਾਲੇ ਸਰਿਤੇਸਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੈ ਸਬਦ ਉਚਾਰਿ ॥

naakaale saritesaree prithamai sabad uchaar |

Say Nakale and Saritesari (names of Ganges) first.

ਸੁਤਅਰਿ ਕਹਿ ਸੂਤਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਸਭ ਸਰ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੬੨॥

sutar keh sootar uchar sabh sar naam uchaar |162|

Uttering primarily the words, “Nakaale and Sarteshvari” and then saying the words “Shat-ari and Sutari”, all the names of Baan are pronounced.162.

ਭੀਖਮ ਸਾਤਨੁ ਸੁਤ ਉਚਰਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਅਰਿ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

bheekham saatan sut uchar pun ar sabad bakhaan |

After saying Bhikham' and 'Santanusut' (words) then say the word 'Ari'.

ਸੂਤ ਉਚਰਿ ਅੰਤ ਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥੧੬੩॥

Uttering the words “Bhisham and Shantanu”, then adding “Ari” and afterwards saying the words “Sutari”, the names of Baan are recognized.163.

ਗਾਗੇਯ ਨਦੀਅਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਸਰਿਤਜ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

gaagey nadeeaj uchar saritaj satru bakhaan |

Pronounce Gangeya, Nadiaja and Saritaja (names of Bhishma) and (then) add the word 'satru'.

ਸੂਤ ਉਚਰਿ ਅੰਤ ਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥੧੬੪॥

soot uchar ant ar uchar naam baan pahichaan |164|

Uttering the words “Gangay and Nadiaj”, then saying “Saritaj Shatru”, then uttering “Soot” and afterwards “Antari”, the names of Baan are known.164.

ਤਾਲਕੇਤੁ ਸਵਿਤਾਸ ਭਨਿ ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤ ਅਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

taalaket savitaas bhan aad ant ar dehu |

Say Talketu and Savitas (names of Bhishma) first and add 'Ari' at the end.

ਸੂਤ ਉਚਰਿ ਰਿਪੁ ਪੁਨਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੬੫॥

Adding the word “Ari” at the end of the words “Taalketu and Savita”, Uttering the word “Soot” and then “Ripu”, all the names of Baan are known.165.

ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਦ੍ਰੋਣ ਕਹਿ ਸਿਖ੍ਯ ਕਹਿ ਸੂਤਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

pritham dron keh sikhay keh sootar bahur bakhaan |

First say 'Drona' (then) say 'Sikhya'. Recite the word 'sutri' after (this).

ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਸਕਲ ਹੀ ਲੀਜੋ ਚਤੁਰ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੬੬॥

naam baan ke sakal hee leejo chatur pachhaan |166|

Saying primarily “Dron” and then “Shshya” and then uttering the word “Sutari”, the wise people recognize all the names of Baan.166.

ਭਾਰਦ੍ਵਾਜ ਦ੍ਰੋਣਜ ਪਿਤਾ ਉਚਰਿ ਸਿਖ੍ਯ ਪਦ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

bhaaradvaaj dronaj pitaa uchar sikhay pad dehu |

Bharadwaja 'father of Drona' (the name of Dronacharya) first say (then) the word 'Sikhya'.

ਸੂਤਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਯੈ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੬੭॥

sootar bahur bakhaaneeyai naam baan lakh lehu |167|

After uttering the word “Bhardwaj (the father of Dronaj), then adding the words “Shishya and Sutari”, the names of Baan are known.167.

First say 'judhistar' (word), then say 'bandhu' (brother).

ਜਾਨ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਮੈ ਰਾਖੁ ਸਕਲ ਨਾਮ ਏ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ॥੧੬੮॥

jaan hridai mai raakh sakal naam e baan ke |168|

Uttering “Yudhishtar” primarily and then saying the word “Bandhu” all the names of Baan are known.168.

ਦੁਉਭਯਾ ਪੰਚਾਲਿ ਪਤਿ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਉਚਾਰਿ ॥

duaubhayaa panchaal pat keh pun bhraat uchaar |

Doubhaya' and 'Panchali Pati' then pronounce 'Bhrat' (word).

ਸੁਤ ਅਰਿ ਕਹਿ ਸਭ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਲੀਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਸੁ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧੬੯॥

sut ar keh sabh baan ke leejo naam su dhaar |169|

After uttering the words “Bandhu and Panchali-Pati” and then adding the words “Bhrata and Sutari”, all the names of Baan are correctly known.169.

ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਧਰਮਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਸਬਦ ਪੁਨਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

dharamaraaj dharamaj uchar bandh sabad pun dehu |

By pronouncing dharmaraja, dharmaja (Yudhistra's name first), then add the word 'bandhu'.

ਸੂਤਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਯੈ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੭੦॥

sootar bahur bakhaaneeyai naam baan lakh lehu |170|

Uttering the words “Dharmaj and Dharamraaj” and then adding the word “Bandhu” and afterwards saying the word- “Sutari”, the names of Baan are known.170.

ਕਾਲਜ ਧਰਮਜ ਸਲਰਿਪੁ ਕਹਿ ਪਦ ਬੰਧੁ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

kaalaj dharamaj salarip keh pad bandh bakhaan |

Saying College, Dharmaja, Salripu (names of Yudhishtra) (then) invoke the title of 'Bandhu'.

ਸੂਤਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਯੈ ਸਭ ਸਰ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੭੧॥

sootar bahur bakhaaneeyai sabh sar naam pachhaan |171|

After uttering the words “Kaalaj, Dharmaj and Shalya-Ripou”, then adding the word “Banndhu” and afterwards saying “Sutari”, all the names of Baan are known.171.

ਬਈਵਸਤ ਪਦ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਸੁਤ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨਿ ॥

beevasat pad pritham keh pun sut sabad bakhaan |

First recite the word 'Baivast' (Sun) and then recite the word 'Sut'.

ਬੰਧੁ ਉਚਰਿ ਸੂਤਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਸਭ ਸਰ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੭੨॥

bandh uchar sootar uchar sabh sar naam pachhaan |172|

Saying the word “Vaivasvat” primarily and then uttering the words “Sat, Bandhu and Sutari” in serial order, all the names of Baan are known.172.

ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਸੂਰਜ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਪਦ ਭਾਖਿ ॥

pritham sooraj ke naam lai bahur putr pad bhaakh |

First by taking the name of Surya, then add the word 'putra'.

ਅਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਸੂਤਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥੧੭੩॥

Uttering the names of Surya primarily and then saying the words “Putra, Anuj and Sutari” in serial order, the names of Baan are known.173.

ਕਾਲਿੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਪਦ ਅਨੁਜ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

kaalindree ko pritham keh pun pad anuj bakhaan |

First say 'Kalindri' (pada) then add 'Anuj' pada.

ਤਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਅਨੁਜ ਅਗ੍ਰ ਕਹਿ ਸਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੭੪॥

tanuj uchar anuj agr keh sar ke naam pachhaan |174|

Uttering the word “Kalindri” primarily and then saying the words “Anuj, Tanuj and Anujagra”, the names of Baan are recognized.174.

ਜਮੁਨਾ ਕਾਲਿੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਅਨੁਜ ਕਹਿ ਸੁਤ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

jamunaa kaalindree anuj keh sut bahur bakhaan |

Saying Jamuna and Kalindri (names of Jamuna) then recite 'Anuj' and 'Sut' (verses).

ਅਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਸੂਤਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਸਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੭੫॥

anuj uchar sootar uchar sar ke naam pachhaan |175|

Saying the words”Sut, Anuj and Sutari”, after uttering the words “Yamuna, Kalindri and Anuj”, the names of Baan are known.175.

ਪੰਡੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕੁਰ ਰਾਜ ਭਨਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਅਨੁਜ ਪਦੁ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

pandd putr kur raaj bhan bahur anuj pad dehu |

First say 'Pandu Putra' or 'Kur' then say 'Raj' and 'Anuj'.

ਸੁਤ ਉਚਾਰਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੭੬॥

sut uchaar ant ar uchar naam baan lakh lehu |176|

After uttering the words “Pandu-Putra and Kururaaj”, then adding the word “Anuj” and afterwards saying the ward “Sut and ari”, the names of Baan are spoken.176

ਜਊਧਿਸਟਰ ਭੀਮਾਗ੍ਰ ਭਨਿ ਅਰਜੁਨਾਗ੍ਰ ਪੁਨਿ ਭਾਖੁ ॥

jaoodhisattar bheemaagr bhan arajunaagr pun bhaakh |

(First) say the name of 'Judhistar' 'Bhimagra' and then 'Arjanagra'.
