ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਚਾਬਿ ਚਾਬਿ ਕਰਿ ਓਸਠ ਦੁਬਹਿਯਾ ਧਾਵਹੀ ॥
chaab chaab kar osatth dubahiyaa dhaavahee |Armorers are running with both arms biting their lips.
ਬਜ੍ਰ ਬਾਨ ਬਿਛੂਅਨ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਨਨ ਲਗਾਵਹੀ ॥
bajr baan bichhooan ke brinan lagaavahee |Bajra arrows and scorpions are causing wounds.
ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਿਰੈ ਨ ਮੋਰੈ ਨੇਕ ਮਨ ॥
ttook ttook hvai girai na morai nek man |(The warriors) are falling in pieces, (but from the battle) they do not turn away.
ਹੋ ਤਨਿਕ ਤਨਿਕ ਲਗਿ ਗਏ ਅਸਿਨ ਕੀ ਧਾਰ ਤਨ ॥੧੪॥
ho tanik tanik lag ge asin kee dhaar tan |14|With the edge of swords, (their) bodies have become tattered. 14.
ਮੋਰਿ ਬਾਗ ਬਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਨੈਕ ਨ ਭਾਜਹੀ ॥
mor baag baajan kee naik na bhaajahee |They are not as far away as turning the carts of horses.
ਖਰੇ ਖੇਤ ਕੇ ਮਾਝ ਸਿੰਘ ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਗਾਜਹੀ ॥
khare khet ke maajh singh jayon gaajahee |Standing in the battlefield, roaring like lions.
ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਿਰੇ ਖੰਡਿਸਨ ਖੰਡ ਕਰਿ ॥
khandd khandd hvai gire khanddisan khandd kar |They are falling down in broken pieces.
ਹੋ ਖੰਡੇ ਖੜਗ ਕੀ ਧਾਰ ਗਏ ਭਵਿਸਿੰਧ ਤਰਿ ॥੧੫॥
ho khandde kharrag kee dhaar ge bhavisindh tar |15|They have crossed the Bhavsagar after being broken by the edge of Kharag. 15.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਭਕਭਕਾਹਿ ਘਾਯਲ ਕਹੂੰ ਰੁੰਡ ਮੁੰਡ ਬਿਕਰਾਰ ॥
bhakabhakaeh ghaayal kahoon rundd mundd bikaraar |Somewhere the injured heads and torsos are throbbing.
ਤਰਫਰਾਹਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰਨ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧੬॥
tarafaraeh laage kahoon chhatree chhatran dhaar |16|Somewhere umbrellas are struggling. 16.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਹਾਕਿ ਹਾਕਿ ਭਟ ਤਰੈ ਧਵਾਵਹਿ ॥
haak haak bhatt tarai dhavaaveh |The warriors charge the horses with a hiccup.
ਗਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਅਸਿਨ ਅਰਿਨ ਬ੍ਰਿਣ ਲਾਵਹਿ ॥
geh geh asin arin brin laaveh |Wounds enemies by holding swords.
ਚਟਪਟ ਸੁਭਟ ਬਿਕਟ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੈ ॥
chattapatt subhatt bikatt katt marai |Instantly, the heroes are dying by cutting them.
ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਐਨ ਅਪਛਰਾ ਬਰੇ ॥੧੭॥
chun chun aain apachharaa bare |17|Apacharas are showering (them) with good selection. 17.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਦ੍ਰੁਗਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਕਲ ਭਾਜਤ ਭਏ ॥
drugat singh ke soor sakal bhaajat bhe |All the heroes of Drugati Singh started running away.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜੂਝੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸੰਦੇਸਾ ਅਸ ਦਏ ॥
nrip joojhe ran maeh sandesaa as de |(They) gave the message that the king had been killed in the war.
ਸੁਨਿ ਬਿਸੁਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਚਕਿ ਗਈ ॥
sun bisunaath prabhaa chit bheetar chak gee |Bisunath Prabha was shocked to hear this (message).
ਹੋ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਉਡਗਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜਰਬੇ ਕਹ ਉਦਿਤ ਭਈ ॥੧੮॥
ho sree uddagindr prabhaa jarabe kah udit bhee |18|And Sri Udgindra Prabha got ready to burn (meaning to be sati).18.
ਜੋ ਧਨੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਸੁ ਦਿਯੋ ਲੁਟਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
jo dhan taa ko huto su diyo luttaae kai |The money he had, he distributed it (among the people).
ਚਲੀ ਜਰਨ ਕੇ ਹੇਤ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਬਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
chalee jaran ke het mridang bajaae kai |And went away playing the mridanga to burn.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਨਾਥ ਜਿਤ ਗਏ ਤਹੀ ਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਹੌ ॥
praan naath jit ge tahee mai jaae hau |Where Pranath has gone, there I will go.
ਹੋ ਜਿਯਤ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਧਾਮ ਮਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇ ਹੌ ॥੧੯॥
ho jiyat na aavat dhaam mare te paae hau |19|If they were alive, they would not come to my house, but when they die, I will receive (them). 19.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਿਸੁਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜਰਬੇ ਤੇ ਡਰਿ ਗਈ ॥
sree bisunaath prabhaa jarabe te ddar gee |Sri Bisunath Prabha was afraid of burning.
ਮਰਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਾਨ ਅਧਿਕ ਪੀਟਤ ਭਈ ॥
mariyo nripat sun kaan adhik peettat bhee |After hearing the death of her husband, she was very upset.
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਅਰਿਨ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਗਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
tab lau arin bidaar gayo nrip aae kai |By that time, the king came after defeating the enemies
ਹੋ ਹੇਰਿ ਸਤੀ ਕੀ ਮੀਚਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਬਿਸਮਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੨੦॥
ho her satee kee meech rahiyo bisamaae kai |20|And was shocked to hear about Sati's death. 20.
ਜਬ ਉਡਗਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਕਾਨਨ ਪਰੀ ॥
jab uddagindr prabhaa kee sudh kaanan paree |When the news of Udgindra Prabha reached (his) ears
ਬਿਰਹ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਅਗਨਿ ਮੋ ਜਰਿ ਮਰੀ ॥
birah tihaare baal agan mo jar maree |That the woman is dead in your arms,
ਤਬ ਪਿਯ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਹਾ ਪਹੂਚ੍ਯੋ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
tab piy tab hee tahaa pahoochayo aae kai |Then the beloved quickly in swift horses
ਹੋ ਤਰਲ ਤੁਰੰਗਨ ਮਾਝ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਧਵਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੨੧॥
ho taral turangan maajh turang dhavaae kai |21|very fast horse ran and reached there. 21.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਵਤ ਲੌ ਮੂਰਖਨ ਦੀਨੀ ਚਿਤਾ ਜਰਾਇ ॥
nrip aavat lau moorakhan deenee chitaa jaraae |Until the arrival of the king, the fools had given fire to the pyre.
ਜਿਯਤ ਮਰੇ ਪਤਿ ਕੀ ਕਛੂ ਸੁਧਿ ਨਹਿ ਲਈ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੨੨॥
jiyat mare pat kee kachhoo sudh neh lee banaae |22|They (did everything) without knowing whether the husband was alive or dead. 22.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਪੀਟਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
triy ko lai lai naam nripat peettat bhayo |Taking the woman's name, the king began to beat him.
ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਬਾਲ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਯ ਦਯੋ ॥
muhi kaaran ih baal agan meh jiy dayo |For me, this woman has sacrificed her life in the fire.
ਬਰਤ ਬਾਲ ਕੌ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਐਂਚਿ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ਹੌ ॥
barat baal kau ab hee aainch nikaar hau |I'll drag the burning woman out now,
ਹੋ ਨਾਤਰ ਜਰਿ ਯਾਹੀ ਸੰਗ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਸਿਧਾਰਿ ਹੌ ॥੨੩॥
ho naatar jar yaahee sang svarag sidhaar hau |23|Otherwise, I will burn and go to heaven. 23.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਅਬ ਹੀ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਅਗਨਿ ਮੈ ਡਾਰੌ ॥
ab hee turang agan mai ddaarau |I just throw the horse into the fire.
ਜਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕਹੁ ਐਚਿ ਨਿਕਾਰੋ ॥
jarat priyaa kahu aaich nikaaro |pull out the burning beloved.
ਕੈ ਹਮਹੂੰ ਯਾਹੀ ਚਿਤ ਜਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
kai hamahoon yaahee chit jar hai |Or I burn and die in this pyre
ਸੁਰ ਪੁਰ ਦੋਊ ਪਯਾਨੋ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੨੪॥
sur pur doaoo payaano kar hai |24|And both leave for heaven. 24.
