ਕਿ ਲਾਗ਼ਰ ਚਰਾ ਗਸ਼ਤੀ ਏ ਜਾਨ ਮਾ ॥੩੦॥
ki laagar charaa gashatee e jaan maa |30|Facially you look so weak?(30)
ਅਜ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਬੁਗੋ ਤਾ ਇਲਾਜੇ ਕੁਨਮ ॥
azaarash bugo taa ilaaje kunam |‘Tell us about your afflictions so that we can suggest you remedies.
ਕਿ ਮਰਜ਼ੇ ਸ਼ੁਮਾ ਰਾ ਖ਼ਿਰਾਜ਼ੇ ਕੁਨਮ ॥੩੧॥
ki maraze shumaa raa khiraaze kunam |31|‘We may be able to prescribe some medicine.’(31)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦ ਈਂ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਰਾ ਨ ਦਾਦਸ਼ ਜਵਾਬ ॥
shuneed een sukhan raa na daadash javaab |Both listened but did not try to respond,
ਫ਼ਰੋ ਬੁਰਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਤਨੇ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਤਾਬ ॥੩੨॥
faro burad har do tane ishak taab |32|And hung their heads under the stress of love.(32)
ਚੁ ਗੁਜ਼ਰੀਦ ਬਰਵੈ ਦੁ ਸੇ ਚਾਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ॥
chu guzareed baravai du se chaar roz |When two, three or four days had lapsed,
ਬਰਾਮਦ ਦੁ ਤਨ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਗੇਤੀ ਫ਼ਰੋਜ਼ ॥੩੩॥
baraamad du tan har do getee faroz |33|Both the bodies became conspicuous in love.(33)
ਬਰੋ ਦੂਰ ਗਸ਼ਤੰਦ ਤਿਫ਼ਲੀ ਗ਼ੁਬਾਰ ॥
baro door gashatand tifalee gubaar |The innocent childhood emotions were decimated,
ਕਿ ਮੁਹਰਸ਼ ਬਰ ਆਵੁਰਦ ਚੂੰ ਨੌਬਹਾਰ ॥੩੪॥
ki muharash bar aavurad choon nauabahaar |34|And the new sun came out with fresh inception.(34)
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਫ਼ਾਜ਼ਲਸ਼ ਬੂਦ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਯਕੇ ॥
vazaa faazalash bood dukhatar yake |She (the girl) was the daughter of a very genius,
ਕਿ ਸੂਰਤ ਜਮਾਲ ਅਸਤ ਦਾਨਸ਼ ਬਸ਼ੇ ॥੩੫॥
ki soorat jamaal asat daanash bashe |35|And she was extremely pretty and intelligent.(35)
ਸ਼ਨਾਸੀਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਜ਼ਿ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਜ਼ਾ ॥
shanaaseed o raa zi haalat vazaa |He (the boy) had recognised her from her apparent condition,
ਬਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ ਦਰੂੰ ਖ਼ਿਲਵਤਸ਼ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ॥੩੬॥
bagufatash daroon khilavatash khush zubaa |36|He took her in seclusion and cordially said,(36)
ਕਿ ਏ ਸਰਵ ਕਦ ਮਾਹ ਰੋ ਸੀਮ ਤਨ ॥
ki e sarav kad maah ro seem tan |‘O you, the one as tall as cypress tree, moon-faced and silvery body,
ਚਰਾਗ਼ੇ ਫ਼ਲਕ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਯਮਨ ॥੩੭॥
charaage falak aafataabe yaman |37|‘You the light of the skies and sun of Yaman,(37)
ਜੁਦਾਈ ਮਰਾ ਅਜ਼ ਤੁਰਾ ਕਤਰਹ ਨੇਸਤ ॥
judaaee maraa az turaa katarah nesat |‘I cannot live without you, even for a moment.
ਬ ਦੀਦਨ ਦੁ ਕਾਲਬ ਬ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਮ ਯਕੇਸਤ ॥੩੮॥
b deedan du kaalab b gufatam yakesat |38|‘May be we seem to be two bodies but we are one.(38)
ਬ ਮਨ ਹਾਲ ਗੋ ਤਾ ਚਿ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦ ਤੁਰਾ ॥
b man haal go taa chi guzarad turaa |‘You tell me, how are you savouring?
ਕਿ ਸੋਜ਼ਦ ਹਮਹ ਜਾਨ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਮਰਾ ॥੩੯॥
ki sozad hamah jaan jigare maraa |39|‘My mind and body are always yearning for you.(39)
ਕਿ ਪਿਨਹਾ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਕਰਦ ਯਾਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਾਸਤ ॥
ki pinahaa sukhan karad yaaraa khataasat |‘To hide the fact from friends is erroneous.
ਅਗਰ ਰਾਸ ਗੋਈ ਤੁ ਬਰ ਮਨ ਰਵਾਸਤ ॥੪੦॥
agar raas goee tu bar man ravaasat |40|‘To reveal the truth will be congenial for you and me.(40)
ਕਿ ਦੀਗਰ ਬਗੋਯਮ ਮਰਾ ਰਾਸਤ ਗੋ ॥
ki deegar bagoyam maraa raasat go |‘If you reveal the truth to me, I will never betray,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਮਰਾ ਤੋ ਬਿਸ਼ੋ ॥੪੧॥
ki az khoon jigare maraa to bisho |41|‘And I swear this on my life.(41)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਦੁਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਕਰਦ ਯਾਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਾਸਤ ॥
sukhan duzadagee karad yaaraa khataasat |‘To hide the fact from the friends is a sin,
ਅਮੀਰਾਨ ਦੁਜ਼ਦੀ ਵਜ਼ੀਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਾਸਤ ॥੪੨॥
ameeraan duzadee vazeeraa khataasat |42|‘Like the minister keeping secret from the king.(42)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੇ ਰਾਸਤ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਨ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਅਸਤ ॥
sukhan gufatane raasat gufatan khush asat |‘It is always beneficial to reveal and tell the fact.
ਕਿ ਹਕ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੋ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਸਾਫ਼ੀ ਦਿਲ ਅਸਤ ॥੪੩॥
ki hak gufatano ham chu saafee dil asat |43|‘Speaking the truth is the norm of a truthful mind.’(43)
ਬਸੇ ਬਾਰ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ ਜਵਾਬੋ ਨ ਦਾਦ ॥
base baar gufatash javaabo na daad |He asked repeatedly but there was no reply,
ਜਵਾਬੇ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੀਰੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੪੪॥
javaabe zubaa sukhan sheeree kushaad |44|Although she had expressed to seek truth.(44)
ਯਕੇ ਮਜਲਿਸ ਆਰਾਸਤ ਬਾ ਰੋਦ ਜਾਮ ॥
yake majalis aaraasat baa rod jaam |Then he arranged a social gathering with so much music, and a drinking spree,
ਕਿ ਹਮ ਮਸਤ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਮਜਲਸੇ ਓ ਤਮਾਮ ॥੪੫॥
ki ham masat shud majalase o tamaam |45|In which every one present in the assembly got drunk.(45)
ਬ ਕੈਫ਼ਸ਼ ਹਮਹ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤੰਦ ॥
b kaifash hamah ham chu aavekhatand |They all were getting so much intoxicated,
ਕਿ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੇ ਜਿਗਰ ਬਾਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਰੇਖ਼ਤੰਦ ॥੪੬॥
ki zakhame jigar baazubaa rekhatand |46|That what ever there was in their hearts, they were blabbing out.(46)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਬਾ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਗੋਯਦ ਮੁਦਾਮ ॥
sukhan baa zubaa ham chu goyad mudaam |Their tongues were constantly reiterating,
ਨ ਗੋਯਦ ਬਜੁਜ਼ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਮਹਬੂਬ ਨਾਮ ॥੪੭॥
n goyad bajuz sukhan mahaboob naam |47|And except their lovers’ names, they were uttering nothing.(47)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਮਜਲਿਸ ਆਰਾਸਤ ਬਾ ਰੋਦ ਚੰਗ ॥
digar majalis aaraasat baa rod chang |Then the daughter of Maulana, arranged another social,
ਜਵਾਨਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਇਸਤਹੇ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਰੰਗ ॥੪੮॥
javaanaan shaaeisatahe khoob rang |48|Which was just for the colourful young and handsome.(48)
ਹਮਹ ਮਸਤ ਖ਼ੋ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਹਮਹ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਮਸਤ ॥
hamah masat kho shud hamah khoob masat |All of them became tipsy and inebriated,
ਇਨਾਨੇ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੀਲਤ ਬਰੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਦਸਤ ॥੪੯॥
einaane fazeelat baroon shud zi dasat |49|And passed over the limits if intellectuals.(49)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਇਲਮ ਸੁਖ਼ਨਸ਼ ਬਿਰਾਦ ॥
haraa kas ki az ilam sukhanash biraad |Any one who wanted to talk to them about education,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਬੇਖ਼ੁਦੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਦੋ ਬੁਖਾਦ ॥੫੦॥
ki az bekhudee naam harado bukhaad |50|They, being drunk, kept on repeating their lovers’ names.(50)
ਚੁ ਇਲਮੋ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੀਲਤ ਫਰਾਮੋਸ਼ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥
chu ilamo fazeelat faraamosh gashat |As the intellect and the presence of mind flew away,
ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਬਾ ਯਕ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਨਾਮ ਮਸਤ ॥੫੧॥
bukhaadand baa yak digar naam masat |51|They kept on reciting each other’s names only.(51)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਦੇਰੀਨਹ ਰਾ ਹਸਤ ਦੋਸਤ ॥
haraa kas ki dereenah raa hasat dosat |Every one who had some old friend,
ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਯਿੰਦਹ ਅਜ਼ ਨਾਮ ਓਸਤ ॥੫੨॥
zubaa khud kushaayindah az naam osat |52|Would keep on repeating friends name again and again.(52)
ਸ਼ਨਾਸ਼ਿਦ ਕਿ ਈਂ ਗੁਲ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਆਸ਼ਕ ਅਸਤ ॥
shanaashid ki een gul sukhan aashak asat |As with such an action one was acknowledged as the lover,
ਬ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨ ਹੁਮਾਯੂੰ ਸੁਬਕ ਤਨ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਅਸਤ ॥੫੩॥
b gufatan humaayoon subak tan khush asat |53|Who could speak cordially and looked handsome and happy.(53)
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਵ ਅਜ਼ ਮੁਸ਼ਕ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ਮਰ ਖ਼ੂੰ ॥
ki az ishak v az mushak az khamar khoon |Those, who were imbued in love and smelled liquor,
