ਏਕ ਬਚੀ ਨ ਗਊ ਪੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਰਗੀ ਦੁਧਰੀ ਬਛਰੇ ਅਰੁ ਬਾਝਾ ॥
ek bachee na gaoo pur kee maragee dudharee bachhare ar baajhaa |“The milching cows, calves and even the barren cows have not survived, all have died,,
ਅਗ੍ਰਜ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਰੋਵਤ ਇਉ ਜਿਮ ਹੀਰ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਿਖਏ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਝਾ ॥੩੫੬॥
agraj sayaam ke rovat iau jim heer binaa pikhe pat raajhaa |356|,,” They all began to weep before Krishna like the lover Ranjha without his beloved Heer.356.

ਕਾਲੀ ਨਾਥ ਕੇਸੀ ਰਿਪੁ ਕਉਲ ਨੈਨ ਕਉਲ ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਸੁਨੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
kaalee naath kesee rip kaul nain kaul naabh kamalaa ke pat ih binatee suneejeeyai |O enemy of the serpent Kali and the demon Keshi! O Lotus-eyed! Lotus-nucleus! And husband of Lakshmi! Listen to our request,,
ਕਾਮ ਰੂਪ ਕੰਸ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੀ ਕਾਜਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ਕੇ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਕਾਮ ਕੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
kaam roop kans ke prahaaree kaajakaaree prabh kaaminee ke kaam ke nivaaree kaam keejeeyai |You are beautiful like the god of love, the destroyer of Kansa, the Lord doing all deeds and satisfier of all the wishes,kindly do our work also,
ਕਉਲਾਸਨ ਪਤਿ ਕੁੰਭਕਾਨ ਕੇ ਮਰਈਯਾ ਕਾਲਨੇਮਿ ਕੇ ਬਧਈਯਾ ਐਸੀ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਜੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
kaulaasan pat kunbhakaan ke mareeyaa kaalanem ke badheeyaa aaisee keejai jaa te jeejeeyai |“You are the husband of Lakshmi, the killer of Kumbhasura and destroyer of the demon named Kalnemi
ਕਾਰਮਾ ਹਰਨ ਕਾਜ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਤ ਤੁਮ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਅਰਜ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਜੀਯੈ ॥੩੫੭॥
kaaramaa haran kaaj saadhan karat tum kripaanidh daasan araj sun leejeeyai |357|Do such a work for us, so that we may survive, O Lord! you are the terminator of desired and accomplisher of all works, kindly listen to our request.”357.

ਬੂੰਦਨ ਤੀਰਨ ਸੀ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕੁਪ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੇ ਪੁਰ ਪੈ ਜਬ ਪਈਯਾ ॥
boondan teeran see sabh hee kup kai brij ke pur pai jab peeyaa |When drops like arrows of wrath (of revenge) fell on Braj Nagar,
ਸੋਊ ਸਹੀ ਨ ਗਈ ਕਿਹ ਪੈ ਸਭ ਧਾਮਨ ਬੇਧਿ ਧਰਾ ਲਗਿ ਗਈਯਾ ॥
soaoo sahee na gee kih pai sabh dhaaman bedh dharaa lag geeyaa |The drops of rain fell on the earth of Braja in fury like the arrows, which could not be endured by anyone, because they were reaching the earth, piercing through the houses
ਸੋ ਪਿਖਿ ਗੋਪਨ ਨੈਨਨ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਅਗੂਆ ਪਹੁਚਈਯਾ ॥
so pikh gopan nainan so binatee har ke agooaa pahucheeyaa |Seeing them (drops) with their eyes, the Gwalis approached Sri Krishna and requested them
ਕੋਪ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਮਘਵਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਰਛ ਕਰੋ ਉਠਿ ਸਈਯਾ ॥੩੫੮॥
kop bhariyo ham pai maghavaa hamaree tum rachh karo utth seeyaa |358|Gopas saw this with their own eyes and conveyed this news to Krishna, “O Krishna! Indra has got angry with us, kindly protect us.”358.
ਦੀਸਤ ਹੈ ਨ ਕਹੂੰ ਅਰਣੋਦਿਤ ਘੇਰਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਘਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
deesat hai na kahoon aranodit gher daso dis te ghan aavai |The clouds are coming, being surrounded from all the ten directions and the sun is not visible anywhere
ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਜਨੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਗਾਜਤ ਦਾਮਿਨਿ ਦਾਤ ਨਿਕਾਸਿ ਡਰਾਵੈ ॥
kop bhare jan kehar gaajat daamin daat nikaas ddaraavai |The clouds are thundering like lion and lighting is frightening by showing its teeth
ਗੋਪਨ ਜਾਇ ਕਰੀ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
gopan jaae karee binatee har pai suneeyai har jo tum bhaavai |Gopas went to Krishna and requested, “O Krishna, whatever pleaseyou, you may do the same because the lion must confront the lion and
ਸਿੰਘ ਕੇ ਦੇਖਤ ਸਿੰਘਨ ਸ੍ਰਯਾਰ ਕਹੈ ਕੁਪ ਕੈ ਜਮ ਲੋਕ ਪਠਾਵੈ ॥੩੫੯॥
singh ke dekhat singhan srayaar kahai kup kai jam lok patthaavai |359|In great anger should not cause the jackals to reach the abode of Yama.359.
ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਹਮਰੇ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਬਹੁ ਮੇਘਨ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਠਾਟ ਠਟੇ ॥
kop bhare hamare pur mai bahu meghan ke ih tthaatt tthatte |“In great fury, the clusters of clouds have come down on our city
ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਗਜ ਬਾਹਨ ਲੋਕ ਕਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਬਨ ਕੇ ਪਰ ਕੋਪ ਕਟੇ ॥
jih ko gaj baahan lok kahai jin paban ke par kop katte |They have all been sent by that Indra, who rides upon the elephant named Airavata and who has chopped the wings of the mountains,
ਤੁਮ ਹੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਰ ਰਾਵਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਟੇ ॥
tum ho karataa sabh hee jag ke tum hee sir raavan kaatt satte |“But you are the Creator of all the world and you had cut the heads of Ravana
ਤੁਮ ਸਿਯੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਤ ਗੋਪਨ ਕੋ ਘਨ ਘੋਰਿ ਡਰਾਵਤ ਕੋਪ ਲਟੇ ॥੩੬੦॥
tum siyo fun dekhit gopan ko ghan ghor ddaraavat kop latte |360|The fires of ire are frightening all, but who is more well-wisher than you for gopas?360.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਡੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਤੁਮੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਜਾਮ ਸੁ ਜਾਪ ਕਰੈ ਤੁਹ ਆਠੋ ॥
kaanrah baddo sun lok tumai fun jaam su jaap karai tuh aattho |“O Krishna! You are the seniormost and the people repeat your Name all the time
ਨੀਰ ਹੁਤਾਸਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਧਰਾਧਰ ਥਾਪਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਠੋ ॥
neer hutaasan bhoom dharaadhar thaap kariyo tum hee prabh kaattho |You have installed the sovereigns, fire, earth, mountain and trees etc.,
ਬੇਦ ਦਏ ਕਰ ਕੈ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਛਿਨ ਤਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਜਬ ਘਾਠੋ ॥
bed de kar kai tum hee jag mai chhin taat bhayo jab ghaattho |“Whenever there had been destruction of knowledge in the world, it were you, who gave the knowledge of the Vedas to the people
ਸਿੰਧੁ ਮਥਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨ ਸੁਰਾਸੁਰ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਟੋ ॥੩੬੧॥
sindh mathiyo tum hee treey hvai kar deen suraasur amrit baatto |361|You churned the ocean and assuming the form of Mohini, you distributed ambrosia amongst the gods and demons.”361.
ਗੋਪਨ ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਕੋਊ ਅਉਰ ਨ ਆਡਾ ॥
gopan fer kahee mukh te bin tai hamaro koaoo aaur na aaddaa |Gopas said again, “O Krishna! there is no support for us except you
ਮੇਘਨ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਥਾਰ ਡਰੋ ਕੁਪਿ ਬਾਲਕ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਜਿਉ ਤੁਮ ਗਾਡਾ ॥
meghan maar bithaar ddaro kup baalak moorat jiau tum gaaddaa |We are frightened by the destruction of the clouds like the child fearing a dreadful portrait
ਮੇਘਨ ਕੋ ਪਿਖਿ ਰੂਪ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਡਰੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਅਸਾਡਾ ॥
meghan ko pikh roop bhayaanak bahut ddarai fun jeeo asaaddaa |“Our heart is getting very fearful on seeing the horrible form of the clouds
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਅਬੈ ਪੁਸਤੀਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਆਪ ਉਤਾਰ ਡਰੋ ਸਭ ਗੋਪਨ ਜਾਡਾ ॥੩੬੨॥
kaanrah abai pusateen hvai aap utaar ddaro sabh gopan jaaddaa |362|O Krishna! get ready to remove the suffering of the gopas.”362.
ਆਇਸੁ ਪਾਇ ਪੁਰੰਦਰ ਕੋ ਘਨਘੋਰ ਘਟਾ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਆਵੈ ॥
aaeis paae purandar ko ghanaghor ghattaa chahoon or te aavai |By obtaining the permission of Indra, the blackness of the alters comes surrounded on all four sides.
ਕੈ ਕਰ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕਿਧੋ ਮਨ ਮਧਿ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਊਪਰ ਆਨ ਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
kai kar krudh kidho man madh brij aoopar aan kai bahu bal paavai |Under the orders of Indra, the dark clouds are surrounding from all the four directions and coming over Braja and being enraged in mind are powerfully exhibiting their force
ਅਉ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਚਪਲਾ ਚਮਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਬੂੰਦਨ ਤੀਰਨ ਸੀ ਬਰਖਾਵੈ ॥
aau at hee chapalaa chamakai bahu boondan teeran see barakhaavai |The lighting is flashing and the drops of water are raining like arrows
ਗੋਪ ਕਹੈ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਚੂਕ ਸੁ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਹਮੈ ਗਰਜੈ ਔ ਡਰਾਵੈ ॥੩੬੩॥
gop kahai ham te bhee chook su yaa te hamai garajai aau ddaraavai |363|The gopas said, “We have erred in not worshipping Indra, therefore the clouds are thundering.”363.
ਆਜ ਭਯੋ ਉਤਪਾਤ ਬਡੋ ਡਰੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਸਭੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ॥
aaj bhayo utapaat baddo ddar samaan sabhai har paas pukaare |A great crime has been committed today, therefore all, having been frightened and crying for Krishna, said,
ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਮਘਵਾ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਪੈ ਬਰਖੇ ਘਨ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
kop kariyo ham pai maghavaa tih te brij pai barakhe ghan bhaare |“Indra has become angry with us, therefore it is raining cats and dogs over Braja
ਭਛਿ ਭਖਿਯੋ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੂ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਕੋਪਿ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
bhachh bhakhiyo ih ko tum hoo tih te brij ke jan kop sanghaare |“You have eaten the material brought over Indra’s worship, therefore, in great rage, he is destroying the people Braja
ਰਛਕ ਹੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਤੁਮ ਰਛ ਕਰੋ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥੩੬੪॥
rachhak ho sabh hee jag ke tum rachh karo hamaree rakhavaare |364|O Lord! You are the protector of all, therefore protect us also.364.
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਅਬੈ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਕਾਢੋ ॥
hoe kripaal abai bhagavaan kripaa kar kai in ko tum kaadto |“O Lord! kindly save us from these clouds
ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਮਘਵਾ ਦਿਨ ਸਾਤ ਇਹਾ ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਘਨ ਗਾਢੋ ॥
kop kariyo ham pai maghavaa din saat ihaa barakhiyo ghan gaadto |Indra has become angry with us and for the last seven day, there had been heavy raining here
ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਬਲੀ ਇਨਿ ਰਛਨ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਯੋ ਉਠਿ ਠਾਢੋ ॥
bhraat balee in rachhan ko tab hee kar kop bhayo utth tthaadto |Balram Bharata immediately got up and stood up in a rage to protect them (the fugitives).
ਜੀਵ ਗਯੋ ਘਟ ਮੇਘਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਗੋਪਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਾਢੋ ॥੩੬੫॥
jeev gayo ghatt meghan ko sabh gopan ke man aanand baadto |365|Then getting infuriated, Balram got up for their protection and seeing him arising, on one side, the clouds became fearful and on the other side, there was increase of joy in the mind of gopas.365.
ਗੋਪਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਪ ਸਭੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
gopan kee sun kai binatee har gop sabhai apane kar jaane |Hearing the request of the gopas, Krishna called all the gopas with the signs of his hand
ਮੇਘਨ ਕੇ ਬਧਬੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਉਠਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੋਊ ਤਾਣੇ ॥
meghan ke badhabe kahu kaanrah chaliyo utth kai karataa joaoo taane |The powerful Krishna moved for killing the clouds
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੇ ਜਸ ਉਚ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਪਹਿਚਾਣੇ ॥
taa chhab ke jas uch mahaa kab ne apane man mai pahichaane |The poet considered the great success of that image in his mind like this
ਇਉ ਚਲ ਗਯੋ ਜਿਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਮ੍ਰਿਗੀ ਪਿਖਿ ਆਇ ਹੈ ਜਾਨ ਕਿਧੋ ਮੂਹਿ ਡਾਣੇ ॥੩੬੬॥
eiau chal gayo jim singh mrigee pikh aae hai jaan kidho moohi ddaane |366|The poet considering this spectacle in his mind, says, “Krishna moved like a roaring lion, seeing the deer, with his mouth wide open.”366.
ਮੇਘਨ ਕੇ ਬਧ ਕਾਜ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕਿਧੋ ਰਸ ਭੀਤਰ ਰਤਾ ॥
meghan ke badh kaaj chaliyo bhagavaan kidho ras bheetar rataa |With great ire, Krishna moved to destroy the clouds
ਰਾਮ ਭਯੋ ਜੁਗ ਤੀਸਰ ਮਧਿ ਮਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਵਨ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਅਤਾ ॥
raam bhayo jug teesar madh mariyo tin raavan kai ran ataa |He had destroyed Ravana in Treta age as Ram
ਅਉਧ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਬਧੂ ਬਰਬੇ ਕਹੁ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਬੈਲ ਨਥੇ ਜਿਹ ਸਤਾ ॥
aaudh ke beech badhoo barabe kahu kop kai bail nathe jih sataa |He had powerfully ruled Oudh alongwith Sita
ਗੋਪਨ ਗੋਧਨ ਰਛਨ ਕਾਜ ਤੁਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਗਜ ਜਿਉ ਮਦ ਮਤਾ ॥੩੬੭॥
gopan godhan rachhan kaaj turiyo tih ko gaj jiau mad mataa |367|The same Krishna moved today for the protection of gopas and cows like an intoxicated elephant.367.
