Then there was (one) great king named 'Smitra Sen',
The mighty and glorious king Sumitra, was the conqueror of Madra Desha.
A girl named 'Sumitra' was born in his house,
He had a daughter named Sumitra in his home. That virgin was so winsome and radiant that she seemed to have conquered the luster of the sun and moon.12.
When the girl regained consciousness,
When she grew of age, she also married the king of Oudh.
By saying this, we now say the state of Kashtuar Raje,
The same thin happened with the king of Kaikeya, who had glorious daughter named Kaiky.13.
(When Dasharatha expressed his desire to marry Kaikai, the king said)- The son who will be born in your house from this (he will be entitled to the kingdom).
The king reflected (in his mind) about the son to be born to his daughter.
Then thoughtfully disguised Kaikai as a woman,
Kaikeyi also thoutht about it, she was extremely beautiful like the sun and moon.14.
Some asked for two years at the time of marriage.
On being married she asked for two boons from the king, which ultimately resulted in his death.
The Maharaja did not understand this in his heart
At that time, the king could not understand the mystery (of the boons) and gave his consent for them.15.
Then there was a war (at one time) between the gods and the demons
Then once a war was waged between the gods and demons, in which the king gave a tough fight from the side of gods.
(The king's) charioteer was killed in that war. (So Dasharatha's) wife Kaikai drove the chariot (herself).
Then once war charioteer of the king was killed, and instead kaikeyi drave the chariot on seeing this, the king was nonplussed.16.
Then the king was pleased and gave two blessings to the woman
The king was pleased and gave other two boons, he did not have any distrust in his mind.
(This) story is told (in detail) in the (Hanuman) plays and (Ramayana etc.) Rama-charitras.
How the king co-operated for the victory of Indra, the king of gods, this story has been told in the drama.17.
Dasharatha conquered many enemies in many ways
The king fulfilled his heart’s desires by conquering many enemies.
(Dasaratha Maharaja) used to spend day and night hunting in the forest.
He passed his time mostly in the forsrts. Once a Brahmin named Sharvan Kumar was roaming there in search of water.18.
(Sravana left his) two blind parents on earth
Leaving his blind parents at some spot, the son had come for water, holding the pitcher in his hand.
(Sravana) The prereya of the wise man went there,
That Brahmin sage was sent there by death, where the king was rresting in a tent.19.
(By filling the water) there was a banging sound from the pot
There was sound of filling the pitcher with water, which was heard by the king.
(At that time) holding the arrow in hand, drew in the bow
The king fitted the arrow in the bow and pulled it and considering the Brahmin as a deer, he shot the arrow on him and killed him.20.
As soon as the arrow hit, Muni fell.
On being struck by the arrow, the ascetic fell down and there was sound of lamentation from his mouth.
Where has the deer died? (To find out) the king went (to the other side of the lake).
For seeing the spot, where the deer had died, the king went there, but on seeing that Brahmin, he pressed his finger under his teeth in distress.21.
Speech of Shravan :
In the body of Sravana (still) lived some pranas.
There were still some life-breath in the body of Shravan. In his final life-breaths, the Brahmin said to the kind:
My blind parents are lying
“My mother and father are blind and are lying on that side. You go there and make them drink water, so that I may die peacefully.”22.
PADDHRAI STANZA
O Rajan! (My) both parents are blind. I tell you this.
“O king! both my parents are without sight, listen to me and give them water.
