ਸਕਲ ਕਟਕ ਕੇ ਭਟਨ ਕੋ ਦਇਓ ਜੁਧ ਕੋ ਸਾਜ ॥
sakal kattak ke bhattan ko deio judh ko saaj |He gave the material of war to all the warriors.,
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਰ ਕੈ ਇਉ ਕਹਿਓ ਹਨਿਹੋ ਚੰਡਹਿ ਆਜ ॥੧੭੪॥
sasatr pahar kai iau kahio haniho chanddeh aaj |174|He himself wore his arms and armour and said this:” I shall kill Chandi to-day.”174.,
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ ॥
svaiyaa |SWAYYA,
ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਚਢੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਕੀ ਦਸਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਈ ॥
kop kai sunbh nisunbh chadte dhun dundabh kee dasahoon dis dhaaee |In great rage, both Sumbh and Nisumbh marched forward for war, the trumpets sounded in all the ten directions.
ਪਾਇਕ ਅਗ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਮਧਿ ਬਾਜ ਰਥੀ ਰਥ ਸਾਜ ਕੈ ਪਾਤਿ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
paaeik agr bhe madh baaj rathee rath saaj kai paat banaaee |In front there were warriors on foot, in the middle the warriors on horses and behind them, the charioteers have arranged the chariots in rows.,
ਮਾਤੇ ਮਤੰਗ ਕੇ ਪੁੰਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤੁੰਗ ਧੁਜਾ ਫਹਰਾਈ ॥
maate matang ke punjan aoopar sundar tung dhujaa faharaaee |On the palanquins of the intoxicated elephants, beautiful and lofty banners are flying.,
ਸਕ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਹੇਤ ਮਨੋ ਧਰਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਸਪਛ ਉਡੇ ਗਿਰਰਾਈ ॥੧੭੫॥
sakr so judh ke het mano dhar chhaadd sapachh udde giraraaee |175|It seems that in order to wage w war with Indra, the large winged mountain are flying from the earth.175.,

ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਬਨਾਇ ਦਲੁ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਇਓ ਗਿਰਰਾਜ ॥
sunbh nisunbh banaae dal gher leio giraraaj |Gathering their forces Sumbh and Nisumbh have besieged the mountain.,
ਕਵਚ ਅੰਗ ਕਸਿ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿ ਉਠੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿਉ ਗਾਜ ॥੧੭੬॥
kavach ang kas kop kar utthe singh jiau gaaj |176|On their bodies they have tightened their armour and in rage they are roaring like lions.176.,

ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਬਲੀ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਹਿ ਆਏ ॥
sunbh nisunbh su beer balee man kop bhare ran bhoomeh aae |The mighty demons Sumbh and Nisumbh, filled with rage, have entered the battlefield.,
ਦੇਖਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਭ ਅੰਗ ਉਤੰਗ ਤੁਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਤੇਜ ਧਰਾ ਪਰ ਧਾਏ ॥
dekhan mai subh ang utang turaa kar tej dharaa par dhaae |They, whose limas are winsome and lofty, they are driving their swift horses on the earth.,
ਧੂਰ ਉਡੀ ਤਬ ਤਾ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਕਨਕਾ ਪਗ ਸੋ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥
dhoor uddee tab taa chhin mai tih ke kanakaa pag so lapattaae |The dust rose at that time, whose particles are embracing their feet.,
ਠਉਰ ਅਡੀਠ ਕੇ ਜੈ ਕਰਬੇ ਕਹਿ ਤੇਜਿ ਮਨੋ ਮਨ ਸੀਖਨ ਆਏ ॥੧੭੭॥
tthaur addeetth ke jai karabe keh tej mano man seekhan aae |177|It seems that in order to conquer the invisible place, the mind in the form of particles hath come to learn about swiftness from the hooves.177.,

ਚੰਡਿ ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਮੈ ਤਨਿਕ ਭਨਕ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਨ ॥
chandd kaalikaa sravan mai tanik bhanak sun leen |Chandi and Kali both heard slight rumour with their ears.,
ਉਤਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਗਿਰ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਕੁਲਾਹਲਿ ਕੀਨ ॥੧੭੮॥
autar sring gir raaj te mahaa kulaahal keen |178|They came down from the top of Sumeru and raised a great furore.178.,

ਆਵਤ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਚੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡਿ ਕੋ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿਓ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਦਾਨੋ ॥
aavat dekh kai chandd prachandd ko kop kario man mai at daano |Seeing the powerful Chandika coming towards him, the demon-king Sumbh became very furious.,
ਨਾਸ ਕਰੋ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਨ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਬਡੋ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਨੋ ॥
naas karo ih ko chhin mai kar baan sanbhaar baddo dhan taano |He wanted to kill her in and instant, therefore he fitted the arrow in the bow and pulled itt.,
ਕਾਲੀ ਕੇ ਬਕ੍ਰ ਬਿਲੋਕਨ ਤੇ ਸੁ ਉਠਿਓ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਜਿਉ ਜਮ ਜਾਨੋ ॥
kaalee ke bakr bilokan te su utthio man mai bhram jiau jam jaano |Seeing the face of Kali, misapprehension was created in his mind, the face of Kali seemed to him as the face of Yama.,
ਬਾਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਚਲਾਇ ਦਏ ਕਿਲਕਾਰ ਉਠਿਓ ਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਘਨ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੧੭੯॥
baan samooh chalaae de kilakaar utthio ju pralai ghan maano |179|Still he shot all his arrows and thundered like the coulds of doomsday.179.,
ਬੈਰਨ ਕੇ ਘਨ ਸੇ ਦਲ ਪੈਠਿ ਲਇਓ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਇਕੁ ਐਸੇ ॥
bairan ke ghan se dal paitth leio kar mai dhan saaeik aaise |Entering the clouds-like army of the enemies, Chandi caughts hold of his bows and arrows in her hand.,
