ਬਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਸਣੈ ਚੜੀ ਸਭ ਸੁਭ੍ਰ ਧਉਲ ਉਤਾਲ ॥੧੯੮॥
baaj saaj sanai charree sabh subhr dhaul utaal |198|Who embellished with all kinds of arts and wearing white garments started very quickly.198.
ਬੇਣ ਬੀਣ ਮ੍ਰਦੰਗ ਬਾਦ ਸੁਣੇ ਰਹੀ ਚਕ ਬਾਲ ॥
ben been mradang baad sune rahee chak baal |She was surprised to listen to the sound of lyre, drum and other musical instruments,
ਰਾਮਰਾਜ ਉਠੀ ਜਯਤ ਧੁਨਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਭੂਰ ਬਿਸਾਲ ॥
raamaraaj utthee jayat dhun bhoom bhoor bisaal |And also saw on that wide plain the sound hailing the victory of ram Rajya was being heard.
ਜਾਤ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੇਕਈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬੋਲੀ ਬਾਤਿ ॥
jaat hee sang kekee ih bhaat bolee baat |Going near Kaikeyi she addressed her in this way :
ਹਾਥ ਬਾਤ ਛੁਟੀ ਚਲੀ ਬਰ ਮਾਗ ਹੈਂ ਕਿਹ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੧੯੯॥
haath baat chhuttee chalee bar maag hain kih raat |199|“When the opportunity will go out of hand, then for whom you will ask for the boons?”199.
ਕੇਕਈ ਇਮ ਜਉ ਸੁਨੀ ਭਈ ਦੁਖਤਾ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥
kekee im jau sunee bhee dukhataa sarabang |When Kaikeye heard all the account, she was completely full of anguish,
ਝੂਮ ਭੂਮ ਗਿਰੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗੀ ਜਿਮ ਲਾਗ ਬਣ ਸੁਰੰਗ ॥
jhoom bhoom giree mrigee jim laag ban surang |And fell down unconscious on the earth like the doe pierced by an arrow.
ਜਾਤ ਹੀ ਅਵਧੇਸ ਕਉ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬੋਲੀ ਬੈਨ ॥
jaat hee avadhes kau ih bhaat bolee bain |Going in the presence of king of Oudh, she said this :
ਦੀਜੀਏ ਬਰ ਭੂਪ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਕਹੇ ਦੁਇ ਦੈਨ ॥੨੦੦॥
deejee bar bhoop mo kau jo kahe due dain |200|“O king! You had promised to grant me two boons, grant them to me just now.200.
ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਬਨ ਦੀਜੀਐ ਮਮ ਪੂਤ ਕਉ ਨਿਜ ਰਾਜ ॥
raam ko ban deejeeai mam poot kau nij raaj |“Give exile to Ram and your kingdom, wealth, whisk an canopy-everything.
ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਸੁ ਸੰਪਦਾ ਦੋਊ ਚਉਰ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਜ ॥
raaj saaj su sanpadaa doaoo chaur chhatr samaaj |Give him ( Bharat) the kingdom, wealth, whisk and canopy-everything
ਦੇਸ ਅਉਰਿ ਬਿਦੇਸ ਕੀ ਠਕੁਰਾਇ ਦੈ ਸਭ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
des aaur bides kee tthakuraae dai sabh mohi |“When you will grant me the ruling power over the inland and foreign countries,
ਸਤ ਸੀਲ ਸਤੀ ਜਤ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਤਉ ਪਛਾਨੋ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੨੦੧॥
sat seel satee jat brat tau pachhaano tohi |201|“Then I shall consider you the observer of truthfulness and recognizer of righteousness.”201.
ਪਾਪਨੀ ਬਨ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਪੈ ਹੈਂ ਕਹਾ ਜਸ ਕਾਢ ॥
paapanee ban raam ko pai hain kahaa jas kaadt |The king replied, “O sinful woman! What approbation you will gain by sending Ram to the forest?
ਭਸਮ ਆਨਨ ਤੇ ਗਈ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਸਕੇ ਅਸਿ ਬਾਢ ॥
bhasam aanan te gee keh kai sake as baadt |“By such surpassing utterance of yours the ash of magnificence on my forehead has flown down with the upcoming perspiration.”
ਕੋਪ ਭੂਪ ਕੁਅੰਡ ਲੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਇਹ ਕਾਲ ॥
kop bhoop kuandd lai tuhi kaatteeai ih kaal |The king taking his bow in his hand said this angrily, “I would have chopped and thrown you just now,
ਨਾਸ ਤੋਰਨ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਤਕ ਛਾਡੀਐ ਤੁਹਿ ਬਾਲ ॥੨੦੨॥
naas toran keejeeai tak chhaaddeeai tuhi baal |202|“And destroyed you, but I let you go because you are a woman.”202.
ਨਗ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਛੰਦ ॥
nag saroopee chhand |NAG SWAROOPI STANZA
ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਵ ਰਾਮ ਹੈ ॥
nar dev dev raam hai |Rama is the lord of men and gods
ਅਭੇਵ ਧਰਮ ਧਾਮ ਹੈ ॥
abhev dharam dhaam hai |“The superb god amongst men is Ram who is certainly the abode of Dhrma,
ਅਬੁਧ ਨਾਰਿ ਤੈ ਮਨੈ ॥
abudh naar tai manai |O foolish woman! You from (your) mind
ਬਿਸੁਧ ਬਾਤ ਕੋ ਭਨੈ ॥੨੦੩॥
bisudh baat ko bhanai |203|“O foolish woman! why are you uttering such contrary words?203.
ਅਗਾਧਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਨੰਤ ਹੈ ॥
agaadh dev anant hai |Rama is the God of endless progress,
ਅਭੂਤ ਸੋਭਵੰਤ ਹੈ ॥
abhoot sobhavant hai |“He is unfathomable and infinite god and is highly seated beyond all elements.
