ਹੋ ਦਾਤਨ ਲੇਤ ਉਠਾਇ ਸਿਵਹਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੧੮॥
ho daatan let utthaae siveh bisaraae kai |18|So you forget Shiva and pick him up with your teeth. 18.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਔਰਨੁਪਦੇਸ ਕਰੈ ਆਪੁ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਕੌ ਨ ਧਰੈ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੌ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
aauaranupades karai aap dhayaan kau na dharai logan kau sadaa tayaag dhan ko drirraat hai |He preaches to others, but he does not pay attention to himself and always makes people determined to give up wealth.
ਤੇਹੀ ਧਨ ਲੋਭ ਊਚ ਨੀਚਨ ਕੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਲਾਜ ਕੌ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਜੇਹੀ ਤੇਹੀ ਪੈ ਘਿਘਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
tehee dhan lobh aooch neechan ke dvaar dvaar laaj kau tayaag jehee tehee pai ghighaat hai |Greedy for that wealth, he goes from high and low to high and low, abandoning his shame and snarling in front of everyone.
ਕਹਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਮ ਰਹਤ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਖਰੇ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਮਲੇਛਨ ਕੀ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਟੂਕ ਖਾਤ ਹੈ ॥
kahat pavitr ham rahat apavitr khare chaakaree malechhan kee kai kai ttook khaat hai |He says that I remain pure, (but I am) very impure (because) I eat scraps by working as a carpenter.
ਬਡੇ ਅਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੈਂ ਕਹਾਵਤ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਮਹਾ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਛਾਡਿ ਮਾਗਿ ਦ੍ਵਾਰੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥
badde asantokhee hain kahaavat santokhee mahaa ek dvaar chhaadd maag dvaare dvaar jaat hai |19|(You) are very unsatisfied, (but you call yourself) very satisfied (because you) leave one door of God and go around begging from door to door. 19.
ਮਾਟੀ ਕੇ ਸਿਵ ਬਨਾਏ ਪੂਜਿ ਕੈ ਬਹਾਇ ਆਏ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਬਨਾਏ ਫੇਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਕੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
maattee ke siv banaae pooj kai bahaae aae aae kai banaae fer maattee ke sudhaar kai |(You) come and worship after making Shiva of clay and then come and knead the clay and make (more).
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪਾਇ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਮਾਥੋ ਘਰੀ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਰਗਰਿਯੋ ਐ ਰੇ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਕਹਾ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਦੈ ਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਕੌ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
taa ke paae pariyo maatho gharee dvai ragariyo aai re taa mai kahaa hai re dai hai tohi kau bichaar kai |He falls at the feet of that (idol) and rubs his forehead for two hours, O (fool!) consider what is in them who will give you.
ਲਿੰਗ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੰਭੁ ਜਾਨਿ ਪਾਇ ਪਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਅੰਤ ਦੈ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
ling kee too poojaa karai sanbh jaan paae parai soee ant dai hai tere kar mai nikaar kai |You worship (his) linga and fall on your feet as Shiva. (Then) he will finally take it out and give it to you.
ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਕੌ ਦੈ ਹੈ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਆਪਨ ਖਬੈ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਯੌ ਹੀ ਤੋਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਵ ਖ੍ਵਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥੨੦॥
duhitaa kau dai hai kee too aapan khabai hai taa kau yau hee tohi maar hai re sadaa siv khvaar kai |20|Will you give it (linga) to the daughter, or will you eat it yourself? In this way, Shiva (God) will always kill you. 20.
ਬਿਜੈ ਛੰਦ ॥
bijai chhand |Bijay Chand:
ਪਾਹਨ ਕੌ ਸਿਵ ਤੂ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਪਸੁ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਤੁਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਐ ਹੈ ॥
paahan kau siv too jo kahai pas yaa te kachhoo tuhi haath na aai hai |O fool! You who call the stone Shiva, but you do not feel anything from it.
ਤ੍ਰੈਯਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਜੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਰਾ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਕੋ ਕਹੁ ਕਾ ਬਰੁ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
traiyak jon ju aap paraa has kai tuhi ko kahu kaa bar dai hai |He who is lying in the crooked June, will be happy and bless you.
ਆਪਨ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਤੁਹਿ ਪਾਹਨ ਕੀ ਪਦਵੀ ਤਬ ਪੈ ਹੈ ॥
aapan so kar hai kabahoon tuhi paahan kee padavee tab pai hai |He will make you like himself, then (you) will find the status of a stone.
ਜਾਨੁ ਰੇ ਜਾਨੁ ਅਜਾਨ ਮਹਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਨ ਗਈ ਕਛੁ ਜਾਨਿ ਨ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥
jaan re jaan ajaan mahaa fir jaan gee kachh jaan na jai hai |21|great fool! understand If the soul is gone, then you will not be able to know anything. 21.
ਬੈਸ ਗਈ ਲਰਿਕਾਪਨ ਮੋ ਤਰੁਨਾਪਨ ਮੈ ਨਹਿ ਨਾਮ ਲਯੋ ਰੇ ॥
bais gee larikaapan mo tarunaapan mai neh naam layo re |Damn! (First thy) age passed away in childhood, and in youth (thou) didst not take his name.
ਔਰਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਾਤ ਰਹਾ ਕਰ ਆਪ ਉਠਾਇ ਨ ਦਾਨ ਦਯੋ ਰੇ ॥
aauaran daan karaat rahaa kar aap utthaae na daan dayo re |(You) used to get donations from others, but you did not raise your hand and give charity to anyone.
ਪਾਹਨ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਨ੍ਰਯਾਤਨ ਤੈ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕੌ ਸਿਰ ਨ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਰੇ ॥
paahan ko sir nrayaatan tai paramesvar kau sir nrayaat bhayo re |You bowed your head before the stone and lowered the head of God.
ਕਾਮਹਿ ਕਾਮ ਫਸਾ ਘਰ ਕੇ ਜੜ ਕਾਲਹਿ ਕਾਲ ਕੈ ਕਾਲ ਗਯੋ ਰੇ ॥੨੨॥
kaameh kaam fasaa ghar ke jarr kaaleh kaal kai kaal gayo re |22|O fool! (You) remained stuck in the household chores and spent time doing daily chores. 22.
ਦ੍ਵੈਕ ਪੁਰਾਨਨ ਕੌ ਪੜਿ ਕੈ ਤੁਮ ਫੂਲਿ ਗਏ ਦਿਜ ਜੂ ਜਿਯ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
dvaik puraanan kau parr kai tum fool ge dij joo jiy maahee |Brahman! After reading two Puranas, you have become full in your mind.
ਸੋ ਨ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਪੜਾ ਜਿਹ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਠੌਰ ਪੜੇ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਪਰਾਹੀ ॥
so na puraan parraa jih ke ih tthauar parre sabh paap paraahee |But he did not read the Purana, the reading of which removes all the sins of this world.
ਡਿੰਭ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਕਰੋ ਤਪਸਾ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਜਿਯਰਾ ਧਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
ddinbh dikhaae karo tapasaa din rain basai jiyaraa dhan maahee |You show hypocrisy and do penance, (but your) mind dwells in wealth day and night.
ਮੂਰਖ ਲੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਕਰੈ ਇਨ ਬਾਤਨ ਕੌ ਹਮ ਮਾਨਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨੩॥
moorakh log pramaan karai in baatan kau ham maanat naahee |23|Foolish people believe (your words) as authentic, but we do not believe these things. 23.
ਕਾਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਾਜ ਕਰੋ ਇਤਨੀ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਹਨ ਕੋ ਕਿਹ ਕਾਜ ਪੁਜਾਵੋ ॥
kaahe ko kaaj karo itanee tum paahan ko kih kaaj pujaavo |For what work do you do so much (worship) and for what do you worship the stone.
ਕਾਹੇ ਕੋ ਡਿੰਭ ਕਰੋ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਗਯੋ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਗਵਾਵੋ ॥
kaahe ko ddinbh karo jag mai ih lok gayo paralok gavaavo |What in the world do you do hypocrisy for? (Your) people have perished (now) the Hereafter will also be lost.
ਝੂਠੇ ਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਕਰੋ ਜੋਊ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੋ ਧਨ ਲੌ ਹਰਖਾਵੋ ॥
jhootthe na mantr upades karo joaoo chaahat ho dhan lau harakhaavo |Do not teach (me) false mantras. Be happy with as much money as you want.
ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਦਿਯੋ ਬਹੁਰੌ ਹਮ ਕੌ ਨ ਸਿਖਾਵੋ ॥੨੪॥
raaj kumaaran mantr diyo su diyo bahurau ham kau na sikhaavo |24|The mantra that was given to the Rajkumars was given, but then do not teach us any (mantra). 24.
ਦਿਜ ਬਾਚ ॥
dij baach |Brahmin said:
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਕਹਾ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜ ਦੁਲਾਰੀ ॥
kahaa bipr sun raaj dulaaree |The Brahmin said, O Raj Kumari! listen
ਤੈ ਸਿਵ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
tai siv kee mahimaa na bichaaree |You have not considered the glory of Shiva.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜੂ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
brahamaa bisan rudr joo devaa |Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva etc., who are gods,
ਇਨ ਕੀ ਸਦਾ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੨੫॥
ein kee sadaa keejiyai sevaa |25|These (gods) should always be served. 25.
ਤੈ ਯਾ ਕੇ ਭੇਵਹਿ ਨ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
tai yaa ke bheveh na pachhaanai |You did not recognize their differences
ਮਹਾ ਮੂੜ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥
mahaa moorr ih bhaat bakhaanai |And she pretends like a great fool.
ਇਨ ਕੋ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਜਾਨਹੁ ॥
ein ko param puraatan jaanahu |Know these (gods) as the most ancient
ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਹੁ ॥੨੬॥
param purakh man meh pahichaanahu |26|And consider (them) supreme men in your mind. 26.
ਹਮ ਹੈ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
ham hai kuar bipr brat dhaaree |O Raj Kumari! I am bratdhari brahmin
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਸਭ ਕੇ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ॥
aooch neech sabh ke hitakaaree |And I am the benefactor of all, high and low.
ਜਿਸੀ ਕਿਸੀ ਕਹ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਖਾਵੈ ॥
jisee kisee kah mantr sikhaavai |To whom I teach mantra (knowledge),
ਮਹਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਨ ਤੇ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥੨੭॥
mahaa kripan te daan karaavai |27|And I get charity from big misers. 27.
ਕੁਅਰਿ ਬਾਚ ॥
kuar baach |Raj Kumari said:
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਤ ਸਿਖ ਅਪਨ ਕਰਤ ਹਿਤ ॥
mantr det sikh apan karat hit |You give mantras to make your servants
ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਤ੍ਯੋਂ ਭੇਟ ਲੈਤ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਤ ॥
jayon tayon bhett lait taa te bit |And how do you take charity from them.
ਸਤਿ ਬਾਤ ਤਾ ਕਹ ਨ ਸਿਖਾਵਹੁ ॥
sat baat taa kah na sikhaavahu |They are not taught the real thing.
ਤਾਹਿ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਗਵਾਵਹੁ ॥੨੮॥
taeh lok paralok gavaavahu |28|(In this way) they lose their people and the afterlife. 28.
ਸੁਨਹੁ ਬਿਪ ਤੁਮ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਤ ਜਿਹ ॥
sunahu bip tum mantr det jih |O Brahman! listen to whom you give mantras,
ਲੂਟਿ ਲੇਤ ਤਿਹ ਘਰ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਿਹ ਕਿਹ ॥
loott let tih ghar bidh jih kih |You loot their houses in one way or another.
