ਲੈ ਲੈ ਬਾਣਿ ਪਾਣਿ ਹਥੀਯਾਰਨ ॥
lai lai baan paan hatheeyaaran |

The kings returned with several kinds of arrows and weapons for waging the war.

ਧਾਇ ਧਾਇ ਅਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥
dhaae dhaae ar karat prahaaraa |

They used to attack the enemy (in this way) by running

ਜਨ ਕਰ ਚੋਟ ਪਰਤ ਘਰੀਯਾਰਾ ॥੨੯॥
jan kar chott parat ghareeyaaraa |29|

They began to strike blows speedily like the strokes on the gong.29.

ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਰਣਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਅਖੰਡਾ ॥
khandd khandd ran gire akhanddaa |

Unbreakable warriors fell in pieces on the battlefield,

ਕਾਪਿਯੋ ਖੰਡ ਨਵੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ॥
kaapiyo khandd nave brahamanddaa |

The mighty warriors began to fall as bits and the nine regions of the world trembled.

ਛਾਡਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਅਸਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥
chhaadd chhaadd as gire naresaa |

And the kings fell with their swords unsheathed.

ਮਚਿਯੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਸੁਯੰਬਰ ਜੈਸਾ ॥੩੦॥
machiyo judh suyanbar jaisaa |30|

Forsaking their swords, the kings began to fall down and there was dreadful scene in the battlefield.30.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥
naraaj chhand |

NARAAJ STANZA

ਅਰੁਝੇ ਕਿਕਾਣੀ ॥
arujhe kikaanee |

The horsemen were confused (among themselves).

ਧਰੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਣੀ ॥
dhare sasatr paanee |

The warriors riding on the horses, coming down, began to roam, holding their weapons

ਪਰੀ ਮਾਰ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
paree maar baanee |

They were hitting each other with arrows

ਕੜਕੇ ਕਮਾਣੀ ॥੩੧॥
karrake kamaanee |31|

The arrows were discharged and the bows crackled.31.

ਝੜਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੀ ॥
jharrake kripaanee |

The warriors used to throw swords at each other.

ਧਰੇ ਧੂਲ ਧਾਣੀ ॥
dhare dhool dhaanee |

The sword began to fall and the dust rose from the earth upwards.

ਚੜੇ ਬਾਨ ਸਾਣੀ ॥
charre baan saanee |

Arrows mounted (fastened) on the branches (were moving).

ਰਟੈ ਏਕ ਪਾਣੀ ॥੩੨॥
rattai ek paanee |32|

On one side, the sharp arrows are being discharged and on the other side people are repeating request for water.32.

ਚਵੀ ਚਾਵਡਾਣੀ ॥
chavee chaavaddaanee |

Witches used to speak,

ਜੁਟੇ ਹਾਣੁ ਹਾਣੀ ॥
jutte haan haanee |

The vultures are swooping down and the warriors equal in strength are fighting.

ਹਸੀ ਦੇਵ ਰਾਣੀ ॥
hasee dev raanee |

Dev queens (apachharas) used to laugh

ਝਮਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੀ ॥੩੩॥
jhamake kripaanee |33|

Durga is laughing and the glittering swords are being struck.33.

ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥
bridh naraaj chhand |

BRIDH NARAAJ STANZA

ਸੁ ਮਾਰੁ ਮਾਰ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ॥
su maar maar sooramaa pukaar maar ke chale |

Saying Maro Maro, the warriors went to kill the enemy.

ਅਨੰਤ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਗਣੋ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਬੀਰਹਾ ਦਲੇ ॥
anant rudr ke gano biant beerahaa dale |

The brave fighters marched forward with their shouts of “kill, kill”. And form this side, the ganas of Rudra destroyed innumerable warriors.

ਘਮੰਡ ਘੋਰ ਸਾਵਣੀ ਅਘੋਰ ਜਿਉ ਘਟਾ ਉਠੀ ॥
ghamandd ghor saavanee aghor jiau ghattaa utthee |

A great heavy troop of Shiva's songs (inj. c) like the sound of the savan.

ਅਨੰਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਬਾਣ ਧਾਰ ਸੁਧ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕੈ ਬੁਠੀ ॥੩੪॥
anant boond baan dhaar sudh krudh kai butthee |34|

The furious arrows are being showered like the drops form the visible rising dark thundering clouds in the month of Sawan.34.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥
naraaj chhand |

NARAAJ STANZA

ਬਿਅੰਤ ਸੂਰ ਧਾਵਹੀ ॥
biant soor dhaavahee |

Endless warriors were running

ਸੁ ਮਾਰੁ ਮਾਰੁ ਘਾਵਹੀ ॥
su maar maar ghaavahee |

Many warriors are running forward and with their blows are wounding the enemies.

ਅਘਾਇ ਘਾਇ ਉਠ ਹੀ ॥
aghaae ghaae utth hee |

The warriors (again) who were fed up with their wounds stood up

ਅਨੇਕ ਬਾਣ ਬੁਠਹੀ ॥੩੫॥
anek baan butthahee |35|

Many warriors, being wounded, are roaming and showering arrows.35.

ਅਨੰਤ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਜ ਕੈ ॥
anant asatr saj kai |

Adorned with jewels

ਚਲੈ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਗਜ ਕੈ ॥
chalai su beer gaj kai |

Bedecked with several arms, the warriors are marching forward and thundering

ਨਿਰਭੈ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਝਾਰ ਹੀ ॥
nirabhai hathiyaar jhaar hee |

They wielded weapons fearlessly

ਸੁ ਮਾਰੁ ਮਾਰ ਉਚਾਰਹੀ ॥੩੬॥
su maar maar uchaarahee |36|

And striking their blows fearlessly, are shouting “kill, kill”.36.

ਘਮੰਡ ਘੋਰ ਜਿਉ ਘਟਾ ॥
ghamandd ghor jiau ghattaa |

Like reducing the thickness of soap

ਚਲੇ ਬਨਾਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਥਟਾ ॥
chale banaeh tiau thattaa |

Preparing themselves like the thundering dark clouds, the brave fighters are marching forward.

ਸੁ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੂਰ ਸੋਭਹੀ ॥
su sasatr soor sobhahee |

The warriors were dressed in armor.

ਸੁਤਾ ਸੁਰਾਨ ਲੋਭਹੀ ॥੩੭॥
sutaa suraan lobhahee |37|

Bedecked with weapons, they are looking so beautiful that the daughters of the gods are getting allured by them.37.

ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਬੀਨ ਕੈ ਬਰੈ ॥
su beer been kai barai |

They were attacking the heroes selectively

ਸੁਰੇਸ ਲੋਗਿ ਬਿਚਰੈ ॥
sures log bicharai |

They are very selective in wedding the warriors and all the heroes are moving about and looking impressive in the battlefield like Indra, the king of gods.

ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਭੂਪ ਜੇ ਭਜੇ ॥
su traas bhoop je bhaje |

Kings who fled from war in fear,

ਸੁ ਦੇਵ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਕਾ ਤਜੇ ॥੩੮॥
su dev putrakaa taje |38|

All those kings, who are frightened, they have been abandoned by the daughters of the gods.38.

ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥

BRIDH NARAAJ STANZA

ਸੁ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਜ ਕੈ ਪਰੇ ਹੁਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਹਠੀ ॥
su sasatr asatr saj kai pare hukaar kai hatthee |

Stout warriors lay in armor and swaggering,

ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਬਨਾਇ ਸੈਣ ਏਕਠੀ ॥
bilok rudr rudr ko banaae sain ekatthee |

The warriors thundering dreadfully and bedecked with arms and weapons fell (on the enemy) and seeing the anger of Rudra, they gathered all the forces.

ਅਨੰਤ ਘੋਰ ਸਾਵਣੀ ਦੁਰੰਤ ਜਿਯੋ ਉਠੀ ਘਟਾ ॥
anant ghor saavanee durant jiyo utthee ghattaa |

The strength of the infinite army was reduced like the thickness of sawan.

ਸੁ ਸੋਭ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਚੈ ਸੁ ਛੀਨਿ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਛਟਾ ॥੩੯॥
su sobh sooramaa nachai su chheen chhatr kee chhattaa |39|

They gathered quickly like the rising and thundering clouds of Sawan and gathering the glory of heaven in themselves, began to dance, being highly intoxicated.39.

ਕੰਪਾਇ ਖਗ ਪਾਣ ਮੋ ਤ੍ਰਪਾਇ ਤਾਜੀਯਨ ਤਹਾ ॥
kanpaae khag paan mo trapaae taajeeyan tahaa |

By swinging the kharg in hand and jumping the horses
