ਆਨਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਪਚਮਾਰ ਸਭਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਇਯੋ ॥
aan pariyo pachamaar sabhan sun paaeiyo |Ever body heard that the lion killer was there.
ਅਤਿ ਲਸਕਰ ਚਿਤ ਮਾਹਿ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਢਾਇਯੋ ॥
at lasakar chit maeh su traas badtaaeiyo |The whole (enemy) army was panicked with fear.
ਲੋਹ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਐਸੀ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥
loh adhik tin maeh bhaat aaisee pariyo |They started to fight with each other,
ਹੋ ਜੋਧਾ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਿਯਤੇ ਉਬਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੫॥
ho jodhaa tin te ek na jiyate ubariyo |25|And none of them was saved.(25)

ਪੂਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਦਈ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੂਤ ਸਿਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
poot pitaa ke sir dee pitaa poot sir maeh |(In the melee) Even the father killed the son and the son killed the father,
ਇਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਭ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਭਟ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨੬॥
eisee bhaat sabh katt mare rahiyo subhatt koaoo naeh |26|And this way they all cut each other and no fighter was left behind.(26)

ਆਇ ਬਾਰਤਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਜਤਾਈ ॥
aae baarataa nripeh jataaee |Then the weaver-woman came and told the Raja what had happened.
ਜਬ ਯਹ ਭੇਦ ਰਾਵ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jab yah bhed raav sun paayo |
ਪਠੈ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਤਾਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥੨੭॥
patthai paalakee taeh bulaayo |27|When the Raja learned the secret, he sent palanquin and honoured the weaver.(27)(1)

ਚਾਦਨ ਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਦੇਸ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਚਾਦ ਪੁਰ ਗਾਉ ॥
chaadan hoon ke des mai pragatt chaad pur gaau |In the country of Chandan, there was a town called Chandanpur.
ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਏਕ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਰਹੈ ਦੀਨ ਦਯਾਲ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
bipr ek tih tthaa rahai deen dayaal tih naau |1|There used to live a Brahmin priest, whose name was Din Diaal.(1)

ਦਿਸਨ ਦਿਸਨ ਕੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਵਹਿ ॥
disan disan kee isatree aaveh |
ਆਇ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਵਹਿ ॥
aae bipr ko sees jhukaaveh |The woman from various countries came there and paid their obeisance to the Brahmin.
ਸੁਭ ਬਾਨੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਯਹੈ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
subh baanee mil yahai uchaarai |
ਰਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਕੀ ਅਨੁਹਾਰਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥੨॥
rat pat kee anuhaar bichaarai |2|All of them used to recite celestial hymns as he seemed to them as the epitome of Cupid.(2)

ਏਕ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਹੁਤੀ ਰਤਿ ਸਮ ਰੂਪ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ek naar tih tthaa hutee rat sam roop apaar |There used to live a woman who was embodiment of the Cupid’s consort.
ਸੋ ਯਾ ਪੈ ਅਟਕਤ ਭਈ ਰਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੩॥
so yaa pai attakat bhee rat pat taeh bichaar |3|Considering him to be the Cupid, she wrapped herself around him.(3)

ਕਬਹੂੰ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਵੈ ॥
kabahoon triy taa ke grih aavai |
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਘਰ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਵੈ ॥
kabahoon tih ghar bol patthaavai |Now the woman started either to come to him or call him over.
ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਦਿਨ ਕੌ ਵਹੁ ਆਯੋ ॥
ek divas din kau vahu aayo |
ਤਬ ਅਬਲਾ ਇਹ ਚਰਿਤ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥੪॥
tab abalaa ih charit dikhaayo |4|Once, during the day he came and the woman displayed this trick.(4)
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Savaiyya
ਬੈਠੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਸਖੀ ਮਧਿ ਅਲੀਨ ਮੌ ਦੀਨ ਦਯਾਲ ਸੌ ਨੇਹੁ ਨਵੀਨੋ ॥
baitthee hutee sakhee madh aleen mau deen dayaal sau nehu naveeno |She was sitting with her friends and saying that she loved Din Diaal.
ਬੈਨਨਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੈ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਇਤ ਨੈਨਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੋ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
bainan chint karai chit mai it nainan preetam ko man leeno |Although she was conversing sitting there, her mind was at the thought of her paramour.
ਨੈਨ ਕੀ ਕਾਲ ਕੋ ਬੀਚਲ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਘਾਤ ਚਿਤੈਬੇ ਕੋ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
nain kee kaal ko beechal dekh su sundar ghaat chitaibe ko keeno |With askance looks she pointed her beautiful (friends) at him,
ਹੀ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਇ ਜੰਭਾਇ ਲਈ ਚੁਟਕੀ ਚਟਕਾਇ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੫॥
hee lakh paae janbhaae lee chuttakee chattakaae bidaa kar deeno |5|She yawned and with the snap ofthe fingers pointed him to go.(5)(1)

ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਏਕ ਜਾਟ ਉਪਜਾਈ ॥
duhitaa ek jaatt upajaaee |
ਮਾਗਤ ਭੀਖਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਆਈ ॥
maagat bheekh hamaare aaee |There was a daughter of a Jat, the peasant, she came to us for begging.
ਬਿੰਦੋ ਅਪਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਾਯੋ ॥
bindo apano naam rakhaayo |
ਚੇਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਦ੍ਰੋਹ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥੧॥
cherin ke sang droh badtaayo |1|She called herself as Bindo; she was an accomplice of the thieves.(1)
ਡੋਲਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਲਯੋ ॥
ddolaa maattee ko tin layo |
ਤਾ ਮੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਸਰਸਵਹਿ ਦਯੋ ॥
taa mai ddaar sarasaveh dayo |She took an earthen-pitcher and put in it linseeds.
ਚਾਰਿ ਮੇਖ ਲੋਹਾ ਕੀ ਡਾਰੀ ॥
chaar mekh lohaa kee ddaaree |
ਦਾਬਿ ਗਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਿਛਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
daab gee taa kee pichhavaaree |2|After putting four nails in it, she buried it (at the back ofthe place).(2)
ਆਪ ਰਾਵ ਤਨ ਆਨਿ ਜਤਾਯੋ ॥
aap raav tan aan jataayo |
ਇਕੁ ਟੌਨਾ ਇਹ ਕਰ ਮਮ ਆਯੋ ॥
eik ttauanaa ih kar mam aayo |She came and told the Raja, ‘Some maid has performed an incantation.
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਕਹੋ ਤੋ ਆਨਿ ਦਿਖਾਊ ॥
jo tum kaho to aan dikhaaoo |
ਕਛੁ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਆਗ੍ਯਾ ਤਵ ਪਾਊ ॥੩॥
kachh mukh te aagayaa tav paaoo |3|‘If you desire and order yourself, and I will display it to you.’(3)
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਆਨਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥
nrip kahiyo aan dikhaae dikhaayo |
ਸਭਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਿਤ ਭਰਮੁਪਜਾਯੋ ॥
sabhahin ke chit bharamupajaayo |She took Raja and showed him and put all the people in whim.
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਭਹੂੰਨ ਬਖਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
sat sat sabhahoon bakhaanayo |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥੪॥
taa ko bhed na kinahoon jaanayo |4|She proved it to be true and none could acquiesce her trick.(4)
ਇਹ ਚੁਗਲੀ ਜਿਹ ਊਪਰ ਖਾਈ ॥
eih chugalee jih aoopar khaaee |
ਸੋ ਚੇਰੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪਕਰਿ ਮੰਗਾਈ ॥
so cheree nripaa pakar mangaaee |When the backbiting reacted, the Raja summoned that maid.
ਕੁਰਰਨ ਮਾਰਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
kuraran maar adhik tih maaree |
ਸੀ ਨ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨੈਕ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
see na mukh te naik uchaaree |5|She was beaten with whips but she did not murmur.(5)
ਮਾਰਿ ਪਰੀ ਵਹ ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
maar paree vah naik na maanayo |
ਯਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਹਠੀ ਰਾਵਹੂੰ ਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
yah triy hatthee raavahoon jaanayo |In spite of beating she did not confess and the Raja thought she was stubborn.
ਦਿਬ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਚਲਨ ਜਬ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
dib kee baat chalan jab laagee |
ਆਧੀ ਰਾਤਿ ਗਏ ਤਬ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੬॥
aadhee raat ge tab bhaagee |6|At the night when they were discussing, she ran away.(6)
ਭੇਜਿ ਮਨੁਖ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪਕਰਿ ਮੰਗਾਈ ॥
bhej manukh nrip pakar mangaaee |
ਏਕ ਕੋਠਰੀ ਮੈ ਰਖਵਾਈ ॥
ek kottharee mai rakhavaaee |The Raja sent guards to catch her and put her in the cell.
ਬਿਖੁ ਕੋ ਖਾਨਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਖਵਾਯੋ ॥
bikh ko khaanaa taeh khavaayo |
ਵਾਹਿ ਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੭॥
vaeh mrit ke dhaam patthaayo |7|He made her to take poison and dispatched her to the domain of death.(7)(1)

marag jauahadde ke bikhai ek patthaanee naar |In the city of Marg Johda, a woman of Path an decent used to live.
ਬੈਰਮ ਖਾ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਰਹੈ ਭਰਤਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਭ ਕਾਰ ॥੧॥
bairam khaa taa ko rahai bharataa at subh kaar |1|Bairam Khan was her husband who always revelled in good causes.(1)
ਤਵਨ ਪਠਾਨੀ ਕੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਨਾਮ ਗੌਹਰਾ ਰਾਇ ॥
tavan patthaanee ko huto naam gauaharaa raae |The name of the Pathani, the Pathan’s woman, was Gohraan Raae,
ਜਾਨੁ ਕਨਕ ਕੀ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਿਕਾ ਬਿਧਨਾ ਰਚੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੨॥
jaan kanak kee putrikaa bidhanaa rachee banaae |2|And she was, as if, the creation of Brahma, the God, Himself.(2)
ਅਰਿ ਬਲੁ ਕੈ ਆਵਤ ਭਏ ਤਾ ਪੈ ਅਤਿ ਦਲ ਜੋਰਿ ॥
ar bal kai aavat bhe taa pai at dal jor |The enemy raided with great force and power,
ਦੈ ਹੈ ਯਾਹਿ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਲੈ ਹੈ ਦੇਸ ਮਰੋਰਿ ॥੩॥
dai hai yaeh nikaar kai lai hai des maror |3|To capture the country and took her away.(3)
