ਤਿਸੀ ਪੈਂਡ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਆਪੁ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥੯॥
tisee paindd hvai aap sidhaaee |9|

When the day had gone by, the lady left the place through the same way.(9)

Dohira

ਕਾਜੀ ਔ ਕੁਟਵਾਰ ਪੈ ਨਿਜੁ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਧਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
kaajee aau kuttavaar pai nij pat saadh dikhaae |

She had convinced the Quazi, the police-chief and her husband and,

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਪਹੁਚਾਇ ਕੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੦॥
prathamai dhan pahuchaae kai bahur milee tih jaae |10|

Then, she left for (the thief) with whom she had entrusted all the fortune.(10)

ਸਭ ਕੋਊ ਐਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥
sabh koaoo aaisee bhaat bakhaanai |

Everyone used to say and believe the same

ਨ੍ਯਾਇ ਨ ਭਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਰ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
nayaae na bhayo taeh kar maanai |

All the people understood that, for not getting the justice and losing

ਧਨੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਰਿ ਝਖਤ ਅਤਿ ਭਈ ॥
dhan bin naar jhakhat at bhee |

(That) woman lived without money

ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜੋਗਨ ਬਨ ਮਾਝ ਸਿਧਈ ॥੧੧॥
hvai jogan ban maajh sidhee |11|

all the wealth, she had gone to the jungle and become an ascetic.(11)

Chaupaee

ਅਲਿਮਰਦਾ ਕੌ ਸੁਤ ਇਕ ਰਹੈ ॥
alimaradaa kau sut ik rahai |

Alimarda had a son

ਤਾਸ ਬੇਗ ਨਾਮਾ ਜਗ ਕਹੈ ॥
taas beg naamaa jag kahai |

Alimardan (a king) had a son whom the world knew as Taas Beg.

ਬਚਾ ਜੌਹਰੀ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਹੇਰਿਯੋ ॥
bachaa jauaharee ko tin heriyo |

(He once) saw a jeweller's child

ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰਿਪੁ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਘੇਰਿਯੋ ॥੧॥
mahaa rudr rip taa kau gheriyo |1|

He (Beg) came across the son of a jeweller and he was overpowered by the god of love.(1)

ਤਾ ਕੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰੇ ਦੇਖਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
taa ke dvaare dekhan jaavai |

(He) used to go to see (him) at his house

ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
roop nihaar hridai sukh paavai |

He would everyday go to his house and find solace by seeing him.

ਕੇਲ ਕਰੋ ਯਾ ਸੋ ਚਿਤ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
kel karo yaa so chit bhaayo |

Chitkaran Laga to do 'Kel' (compassion) with him.

ਤੁਰਤੁ ਦੂਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤਾਹਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੨॥
turat doot grih taeh patthaayo |2|

As he felt to make love with him to seek comfort, he immediately sent him his emissary.(2)

ਦੂਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਬਨਾਵੈ ॥
doot anek upachaar banaavai |

The angel used to do many things

ਮੋਹਨ ਰਾਇ ਹਾਥ ਨਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
mohan raae haath neh aavai |

The emissary tried hard but Mohan Raae (the boy) would not consent.

ਤਿਹ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tih taa so ih bhaat uchaariyo |

He went to Tas Beg and said like this

ਤਾਸ ਬੇਗ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਖਿਝਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੩॥
taas beg taa sau khijh maariyo |3|

When he conveyed the decision to him (Beg), he was perturbed and beat him up.(3)

ਚੋਟਨ ਲਗੇ ਦੂਤ ਰਿਸਿ ਭਰਿਯੋ ॥
chottan lage doot ris bhariyo |

After being hurt, the angel was filled with anger

ਮੂਰਖ ਜਾਨਿ ਜਤਨ ਤਿਹ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
moorakh jaan jatan tih kariyo |

The emissary became furious on receiving the retribution and,

ਮੋਹਨ ਆਜੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੈ ਐਹੋ ॥
mohan aaj kahiyo mai aaiho |

considering him to be an idiotic, decided to do something.

ਤਾ ਕੌ ਤਾਸ ਬੇਗ ਤੂ ਪੈਹੋ ॥੪॥
taa kau taas beg too paiho |4|

He told Taas Beg, ‘Mohan has consented to come today.’(4)

ਯਹ ਸੁਨਿ ਬੈਨ ਫੂਲਿ ਜੜ ਗਯੋ ॥
yah sun bain fool jarr gayo |

After hearing this, the fool became full

ਸਾਚ ਬਾਤ ਚੀਨਤ ਚਿਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
saach baat cheenat chit bhayo |

Hearing this, his joy knew no bounds, as he took it to be true.

ਲੋਗ ਉਠਾਇ ਪਾਨ ਮਦ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
log utthaae paan mad kariyo |

He sent away the people and started to drink wine.

ਮਾਨੁਖ ਹੁਤੋ ਜੋਨਿ ਪਸੁ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥੫॥
maanukh huto jon pas pariyo |5|

Although human being, he had embraced the life of an animal.(5)

ਮੋ ਮਨ ਮੋਲ ਮੋਹਨਹਿ ਲਯੋ ॥
mo man mol mohaneh layo |

(When) my mind has been bought by Mohan,

ਤਬ ਤੇ ਮੈ ਚੇਰੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ॥
tab te mai chero hvai gayo |

(He thought,) ‘My heart is already in the hands of Mohan and I have become his slave since (I saw him).

ਏਕ ਬਾਰ ਜੌ ਤਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੋ ॥
ek baar jau taeh nihaaro |

Once I see him

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨ ਤਾ ਪੈ ਸਭ ਵਾਰੋ ॥੬॥
tan man dhan taa pai sabh vaaro |6|

‘Who-so-ever has a glimpse of him, sacrifices his own life over him.’(6)

ਬਿਨੁ ਸੁਧਿ ਭਏ ਦੂਤ ਤਿਹ ਚੀਨੋ ॥
bin sudh bhe doot tih cheeno |

When the messenger saw him (due to the intoxication of alcohol) unconscious

ਅੰਡ ਫੋਰਿ ਆਸਨ ਪਰ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
andd for aasan par deeno |

When the emissary judged he was totally intoxicated with wine, he broke an egg and spread it on his bed.

ਭੂਖਨ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਗ ਤਿਹ ਹਰੀ ॥
bhookhan basatr paag tih haree |

His turban, armor and jewelery were stolen.

ਮੂਰਖ ਕੌ ਸੁਧਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਰੀ ॥੭॥
moorakh kau sudh kachhoo na paree |7|

He took away his ornaments, the clothes and the turban, and the fool remained unaware.(7)

ਮਦਰਾ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਭਈ ਖੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
madaraa kee at bhee khumaaree |

That fool got very addicted to alcohol

ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਲਗੇ ਜੜ ਬੁਧਿ ਨ ਸੰਭਾਰੀ ॥
praat lage jarr budh na sanbhaaree |

The intoxication through wine was so intense that, till morning, he did not regain consciousness.

ਬੀਤੀ ਰੈਨਿ ਭਯੋ ਉਜਿਯਾਰੋ ॥
beetee rain bhayo ujiyaaro |

The night passed and the morning came.

ਤਨ ਮਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਆਪ ਸੰਭਾਰੋ ॥੮॥
tan man apane aap sanbhaaro |8|

When the night had lapsed and the day broke, he managed to control his mind and body.(8)

ਹਾਥ ਜਾਇ ਆਸਨ ਪਰ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥
haath jaae aasan par pariyo |

(When) his hand rested on the asan (secret area).

ਚੌਕਿ ਬਚਨ ਤਬ ਮੂੜ ਉਚਰਿਯੋ ॥
chauak bachan tab moorr uchariyo |

When his hand fell over his bed, the idiot thought over,

ਨਿਕਟ ਆਪਨੋ ਦੂਤ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
nikatt aapano doot bulaayo |

Called the messenger (servant) to him.

ਤਿਨ ਕਹਿ ਭੇਦ ਸਕਲ ਸਮੁਝਾਯੋ ॥੯॥
tin keh bhed sakal samujhaayo |9|

And called over his emissary, who on query made him to understand thus,(9)
