ਸੇਸ ਅਲਿਕੇਸ ਸਭੈ ਬਿਲਖਾਏ ॥
ses alikes sabhai bilakhaae |Sheshnag and Kuber ('Alikes') were all very sad
ਬਿਸਨ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰ ਜੀਤਿ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੬॥
bisan aad pur jeet bataae |6|took all the people under his dominance.( 6)

ਸੇਸ ਜਲੇਸ ਸੁਰੇਸ ਸਭ ਪੁਰੀ ਬਸਾਏ ਆਨਿ ॥
ses jales sures sabh puree basaae aan |Ses, Jales, Sures, and all the gods he brought to live in his realm.
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਲ ਲਖਿ ਰੀਝਿਯੋ ਅਸੁਰ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੭॥
mahaa rudr kee baal lakh reejhiyo asur nidaan |7|And that the Devil was enticed by the woman of Ruder and seeing her felt elated.(7)

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਲਲਚਾਯੋ ॥
triy ko roop nirakh lalachaayo |Seeing the form of a woman (Jalandhar) was tempted
ਚਤੁਰ ਦੂਤ ਤਿਹ ਤੀਰ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
chatur doot tih teer patthaayo |He was so much fascinated seeing her that he sent a wise emissary to her.
ਮੋ ਕਹ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
mo kah rudr paarabatee deejai |O Rudra! give me transcendence,
ਨਾਤਰ ਮੀਚ ਮੂੰਡ ਪਰ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੮॥
naatar meech moondd par leejai |8|He asked Rude to handover Parbati to him or accept annihilation.(8)
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਬਾਚ ॥

ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਭਗਨੀ ਦੀਜਿਯਤ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਧਾਨ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
duhitaa bhaganee deejiyat bed bidhaan banaae |‘The daughters and sisters are given away according to the tradition of Vedas.
ਅਬ ਲੌ ਕਿਸੂੰ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦਈ ਸੁਨੁ ਅਸੁਰਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਇ ॥੯॥
ab lau kisoon na triy dee sun asuran ke raae |9|‘But, listen, no body till today has give away his wife.’(9)

ਕੋਪ੍ਰਯੋ ਅਸੁਰੇਸਰ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
koprayo asuresar hankaaree |That arrogant giant-kingdom was enraged
ਸੈਨਾ ਜੋਰਿ ਦਾਨਵਨ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
sainaa jor daanavan bhaaree |With the backing of a large number of the army of the devils, he came furious.
ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥
sunbh nisunbh bulaae tab hee |sumbha, sumbha,
ਰਕਤ ਬੀਜ ਜ੍ਵਾਲਾਛਨ ਸਭ ਹੀ ॥੧੦॥
rakat beej jvaalaachhan sabh hee |10|He called in Sunbh and NiSunbh (devils) and collected all the ones full of wrath.(10)
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Verse:
ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਹਠੀ ਦੈਤ ਗਾਜੈ ॥
mahaa kop kai kai hatthee dait gaajai |The stubborn giant became very angry
ਉਠੇ ਬਾਧਿ ਬਾਨਾਨ ਬਾਕੇ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
autthe baadh baanaan baake biraajai |Fully equipped with arrows, they were blaring.
ਲਏ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀਨ ਆਛੇ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
le sool saitheen aachhe suhaavai |(In their hands) tridents and spears were adorned.
ਬਿਯੋ ਕੌਨ ਜੋਧਾ ਜੋ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦਬਾਵੈ ॥੧੧॥
biyo kauan jodhaa jo taa ko dabaavai |11|They were laced with spears and tridents, and, consequently who could dare to fight.(11)
ਇਤੈ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੋਪਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਡੌਰੂ ਬਜਾਯੋ ॥
eitai rudr kopiyo su ddauaroo bajaayo |At this Rudra got angry and played the drum.
ਉਤੈ ਬਾਧ ਗਾੜੀ ਅਨੀ ਇੰਦਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
autai baadh gaarree anee indar aayo |On this side, Ruder became very angry, beat the drum and Indra arrived with his army.
ਲਏ ਸੂਰ ਸਾਥੀ ਘਨੀ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਆਛੇ ॥
le soor saathee ghanee chandr aachhe |The Sun and the Moon also took many companions
ਸਭੈ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀ ਲਏ ਕਾਛ ਕਾਛੇ ॥੧੨॥
sabhai sool saithee le kaachh kaachhe |12|Also came Chandra along with his compatriots, all holding spears and tridents.(12)
ਹਠੀ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਮਹਾ ਦੈਤ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
hatthee kop kai kai mahaa dait dtooke |The stubborn giants were very angry
ਚਲੇ ਭਾਤਿ ਐਸੀ ਸੁ ਮਾਨੋ ਭਭੂਕੇ ॥
chale bhaat aaisee su maano bhabhooke |And so they walked as if they were baboons.
ਗ੍ਰੁਜੈ ਹਾਥ ਲੀਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਜੇ ਬੀਰ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
grujai haath leene graje beer bhaare |(They) had thunderbolts in their hands and the great warriors were thundering.
ਟਰੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਟਾਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧੩॥
ttarai naeh ttaare nahee jaat maare |13|Neither they could be removed (from the battlefield) nor could they be killed. 13.
ਹਠੇ ਦੇਵ ਬਾਕੀ ਅਨੀ ਸਾਥ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
hatthe dev baakee anee saath lai kai |Hati Deva with a very strong army
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਜੁਧ ਕੈ ਅਗ੍ਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
mahaa rudr ko judh kai agr kai kai |Maha Rudra came forward to fight the war.
ਲਏ ਬਿਸਨ ਜੋਧਾ ਸੁ ਐਸ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
le bisan jodhaa su aais biraajai |Vishnu was also decorating the warriors like this
ਲਖੇ ਦੇਵ ਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਨ ਕੋ ਦਰਪੁ ਭਾਜੈ ॥੧੪॥
lakhe dev kanayaan ko darap bhaajai |14|That even the pride of the god-maidens was ending after seeing them. 14.
ਇਤੈ ਦੈਤ ਬਾਕੇ ਉਤੇ ਦੇਵ ਸੋਹੈਂ ॥
eitai dait baake ute dev sohain |Here the banks are giants and there the gods are adorning,
ਦਿਤ੍ਰਯਾਦਿਤ ਜੂ ਜਾਨ ਕੋ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹੈਂ ॥
ditrayaadit joo jaan ko maan mohain |As if Diti and Aditi are enthralling the mind.
ਬਜੈ ਸਾਰ ਗਾੜੋ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਜ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
bajai saar gaarro nahee bhaaj jaavai |Much iron is sounding (from both sides) and (no one) is fleeing.
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਖਿੰਗ ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਚਾਵੈ ॥੧੫॥
duhoon or te khing khatree nachaavai |15|Umbrella horses are dancing from both sides. 15.
ਪਰਿਯੋ ਲੋਹ ਗਾੜੋ ਤਹਾ ਭਾਤਿ ਐਸੀ ॥
pariyo loh gaarro tahaa bhaat aaisee |There the iron was ringing so loudly,
ਮਨੋ ਕ੍ਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਘ ਕੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਜੈਸੀ ॥
mano kvaar ke megh kee brisatt jaisee |One the one hand there were the stalwart devils, and the other the gods and their progeny was getting honours.
ਹਠਿਯੋ ਹਾਥ ਮੈ ਸੂਲ ਕੋ ਸੂਲ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
hatthiyo haath mai sool ko sool lai kai |Hathi Shiva carrying the trident well in hand
ਤਿਸੀ ਛੇਤ੍ਰ ਛਤ੍ਰੀਨ ਕੋ ਛਿਪ੍ਰ ਛੈ ਕੈ ॥੧੬॥
tisee chhetr chhatreen ko chhipr chhai kai |16|The steel started to strike steel and to make sure no one ran away, the Kashatris rounded from all sides.(16)
ਬਜਿਯੋ ਰਾਗ ਮਾਰੂ ਤਿਸੀ ਖੇਤ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
bajiyo raag maaroo tisee khet bhaaro |A deadly raga has been played in that battlefield.
ਕਿਸੀ ਕਾਜ ਜੋ ਥੋ ਨ ਸੋਊ ਪਧਾਰੋ ॥
kisee kaaj jo tho na soaoo padhaaro |Those who were of no use, they fled (from there).
ਲਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਔ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਜੂ ਆ ਰਿਸੈ ਕੈ ॥
lare baal aau bridh joo aa risai kai |Children and old people are all angry and fighting
ਗਏ ਪਾਕ ਸਾਹੀਦ ਯਾਕੀਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥੧੭॥
ge paak saaheed yaakeen hvai kai |17|And indeed the holy ones have become martyrs. 17.
